4. The Multipurpose New Wind Tunnel STU

Abstract

BLWT STU tunnel, which is currently in test mode, will in its two measuring sections allow to prepare measurements with laminar and turbulent wind flow. The front section will fulfill technical parameters of steady flow for testing sectional models and dynamically similar models. In the rear operating section it is necessary to reproduce correctly the roughness of the earth surface covering different terrain categories and to prepare boundary layer suitable for experimental testing. Article deals with the brief description of the preparation and testing laminar flow and boundary layer for the urban terrain, which was simulated with rough elements and barriers of different heights. The attention is focused in getting get at least 1 meter height of boundary layer, which allows to optimize scale similarity of model. more...

Abstract

Interlayer and intergranular exchange and dipolar coupling in [([Fe.sub.97][Si.sub.3]/Si[O.sub.2]).sub.5] discontinuous multilayer (DM) are studied by using ferromagnetic resonance (FMR). The results have shown that the metal nanoparticles are separated by an insulating matrix and the single-electron transport phenomena are observed at low temperatures. more...

21. Vertically stacked (Nb/Si)*10 Josephson junction

Abstract

Abstract: We report on “Josephson superlattice”—a stack of junctions consisting of a multilayer [Nb(7nm)/Si(2nm)]*10 deposited by dc sputtering. The silicon barriers are amorphous and Nb sublayers are polycrystalline. The stacked junctions exhibit both ac and dc Josephson effects. In the IC(B) diffraction pattern there is an extra periodicity of about 2–3 G in addition to larger period of about 21 G. The shape of IC(B) curve resembles the characteristics obtained on two JJs placed close to each other and connected in parallel. The possible explanation of this fine structure of the interference pattern is shortly discussed. more...
