The article comments on the evolution of the periodical "History 396." It is said that research and dissemination activities in 2012 demonstrated the permanent commitment of the academic community of the Institute of History with the discipline of history. It is said that the journal entered the EBSCO index in 2012 which shows its academic maturation. An article by professor Richard Bessel on the problems of historical research for the understanding of postwar Germany , is also discussed.
