Punch grafting is a technique that can improve and accelerate the healing of hard-to-heal wounds and reduce the associated pain. It is a simple and inexpensive procedure that can be performed in the examination room. It is a technique that uses small split-thickness skin grafts (STSG) to promote the growth of epithelial tissue. It has been described as being used mainly to treat ulcers of venous, arterial, hypertensive and diabetic aetiology. Punch grafting has also been used successfully in postoperative dermatological surgical wounds. This article describes and details the performance of the punch-graft technique, with special emphasis on aftercare and the role of nurses in the procedure. A clinical case is presented of a patient who underwent surgery for cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and whose primary closure was rejected. It was decided to place the STSGs obtained from the anterior aspect of the patient's thigh after preparation of the recipient area to ensure an optimal wound bed. This article discusses a case study of a 61-year-old woman with systemic mastocytosis and hypereosinophilia who presented with symptoms of tachycardia, severe hypotension, and nausea. The patient had splinter hemorrhages, which are dark, non-bleachable subungual lesions caused by disruption of the nail bed's spiral arteries. While splinter hemorrhages are commonly associated with infective endocarditis, they can also occur in other conditions such as psoriasis, lichen planus, or connective tissue disorders. The authors suggest that in this particular case, the excess of mast cells in systemic mastocytosis may have contributed to the development of splinter hemorrhages, in addition to eosinophilia. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an effective treatment option for the treatment of superficial basal cell carcinoma (sBCC). Recent publications have demonstrated that PDT with 7.8% 5‐aminolaevulinic acid nanoemulsion‐based gel (BF‐200 ALA‐PDT) is an effective and safe alternative for the treatment of sBCC). To investigate the efficacy and safety of 7.8% 5‐aminolaevulinic acid nanoemulsion‐based gel (BF‐200 ALA)‐PDT for the treatment of sBCC. A non‐controlled, open‐label single centre study was conducted. Patients received one PDT cycle with two PDT sessions one‐week apart. In case that clinical‐dermoscopy evaluation of treatment outcome revealed remaining lesions, a second PDT cycle was performed. The clinical results at the dermoscopy and fluorescence diagnosis level were histologically confirmed in all patients. Treatment response was evaluated 3, 6, and 12 months after last PDT session. A total of 31 patients (12 men and 19 women), with a median age of 63.74 years were included in this study. 3‐month after PDT‐session, 23/31 patients were complete responders (74.19%) after two BF‐200 ALA ‐PDT sessions. Esthetic outcome was considered good‐to‐excellent. 5 Aminolevulinic acid 7.8% nanoemulsion‐based gel (BF‐200 ALA) PDT is an effective therapy option for the treatment of sBCC.
