One of the characteristics by which we can estimate the stage of development of a certain discipline is its degree of mathematization. Thus, Galileo Galilei said that „The great book of nature can be read only by the one who knows the language in which this book was written and this language is the mathematics”. We understand by this the extent of interdisciplinary use of the mathematical ideas and techniques. It is obvious, from the viewpoint of the respective discipline, that a high degree of mathematization does not show a high intrinsic value. Situations exist in which important mathematical developments did not lead to progress in a certain discipline, such as the endowment with sophisticated equipment’s did not result implicitly in notable results. Truly important is the effective contribution and not the sophistication or elegance of the used mathematical instrument. A relatively simple mathematical idea can have an unexpected effect if used with skill. On the other hand, very elegant mathematical considerations may be of no use for the actual problems of that particular discipline.

Traditionally, the energy and protein allowances are designed to produce as high as possible performance (we shall refer subsequently to the daily weight gain). Only few systems of assessing the energy and nutrient requirement offer the possibility to monitor carcass quality expressed mainly by the lipid to protein ratio.

The paper presents the evolution of pork market in Romania, starting from the year 2009 till present. The research is based on a set of specific indicators such as: pig stock, obtained pork production, basic price, consumption, import, export, etc. The data used in this research were taken from the National Institute of Statistics, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and FAOSTAT. The analysis of pork market in Romania is a quantitative study and the used indicators varied from a year to another. The evolution pork market in Romania was determined by economic and financial situation in the country, and also by the fluctuations in the international meat market. Pork production is influenced by many factors, among which consumer demand occupies an important place. Consumer demand is influenced by the price of pork and the price of other categories of goods, consumer incomes and preference.

The paper aimed to establish a corresponding regression model reflecting the relationship between profit, as the main barometer of economic efficiency and milk yield in dairy farming using a sample of 8 farms operating in the Southern Romania. Two regression models were compared: the linear regression and the quadratic fit. Average milk yield registered 6,088.57 kg/cow and had just 9.24 % variation among farms. Profit per cow recorded Lei 2,096.57 in average with a very high variation from a farm to another ( 46.20%). The correlation coefficient between milk yield and profit per cow, rxy= 0.921, reflected a strong positive link between the two economic indicators. The regression model had the form Y=1.584x - 7,508.66 with the standard error Sest= 407.370428 and the parabolic fit was Y=0.006x2 -5.7649 + 14,250 having a higher standard error Sest= 18,786.96. From this comparison, the linear regression model proved to be the most suitable one to reflect the relationship between profit per cow and milk yield with the highest accuracy. According to this model, it was estimated that for an annual 500 kg gain in milk yield, profit per cow could be higher by Lei 792 per year with a deep impact on farm profitability.

This paper highlights the economic situation of Romania’s West Region for a period of five years, based on some specific indicators. The most relevant indicators which are part of the analysis of the regional economic evolution are as following: gross domestic product per capita; the turnover; the number of employees in active local units; gross and net investments. Within this scientific paper there was presented a prognosis of gross domestic product per capita, from 2015 to 2017. This macroeconomic indicator gives wide information over the economy in a region. The indicators analyzed in this study recorded oscillations from an year to another which demonstrates that the economy in the West Region is able to develop, but recording different growth rates. In comparison with other regions in Romania, the West Region will distinguish by an industrial branch that gathers almost all the areas. The development of this area is both due to direct foreign investments and qualified employees. An economic leader of the region is Timis country, followed by Arad country. West Region has a big potential of development given to the existent resources, geographic settlement and an entrepreneurial environment that is capable to transform the opportunities in profitable business.

This scientific paper presents the evolution of oilseeds market in Romania, during the period 2008-2013. In order to show as concise as possible the reality of the oilseeds sector, the research pictures, on the one hand, an evolution of oilseeds specific indicators and on the other hand, an evolution of external trade. Romania disposes of tradition and favourable pedo-climatic conditions for cultivating the oilseeds plants. This is demonstrated by the favourable results obtained in the last years, especially concerning the sunflower crop. In 2013, Romania registered a record for sunflower, occupying the first position in the European Union for cultivated area and production. A negative aspect is represented by the fact that our country has the best conditions in Europe for soybean crop, but it is still dependent on import. Romania imports a huge quantity of soybean oilcakes for animal feeding. Nowadays, Romania is an important actor in the sunflower world market, covering almost 19% of the global demand. In perspective, one could expect significant oilseeds productions with a positive influence on the agro-food trade balance in our country.

The proposed correlation coefficient better characterize the statistical independence of two random variables that are a linear mixture of two independent sources. This correlation coefficient can be calculated with analytical relations or with the known algorithms of independent components analysis (ICA). The value of the correlation coefficient is zero when the random variables are a statistically independent and it is one when these are fully dependent.

Background: Rhizobium (Agrobacterium) species are plant aerobic bacteria, which in some cases can produce endophthalmitis in humans after corneal trauma. Case presentation: A 42-year-old female patient presented in the Emergency Department of the Emergency County Hospital of Craiova, Romania, reporting pain, epiphora, and blurry vision in her right eye for about five days. This initial infectious keratitis episode was successfully resolved, but after 20 days she presented again after trauma with a leaf with corneal abscess. In the conjunctival secretion, R. radiobacter was identified. Despite antibiotherapy, the patient’s state did not improve, and ultimately the eye was eviscerated. Methods: A search was performed in the ProQuest, PubMed, and ScienceDirect databases for the terms Agrobacterium, Rhizobium, radiobacter, and eye. We eliminated non-human studies, editorials and commentaries, and non-relevant content, and excluded the duplicates. Results: In total, 138 studies were initially obtained, and then we selected 26 studies for retrieval. After the selection process, we ended up including 17 studies in our analysis. Most studies reported R. radiobacter endophthalmitis after ocular surgical procedures or outdoor activities that involve exposure to soil. Conclusion: R. radiobacter is a rare cause of endophthalmitis after eye trauma that generally responds well to usual antibiotherapy, but occasionally can evolve to severe, leading to the loss of the eye.
