The research uncovers the intricate web of challenges and aspirations inherent in this informal livelihood through purposive sampling and semi-structured interviews. Key themes emerged, highlighting the critical role of barbecue stick production in supporting daily living and educational aspirations, despite enduring physical strain, occupational hazards, and seasonal constraints. The study on the experiences of teachers on kindergarten pupils with separation anxiety is a phenomenology that aimed to describe a phenomenon. The identification of the pupils with separation anxiety was based on their display of behavior of fear of being left alone and separated from their parents or guardians in the first few weeks of the start of the school year. The conversational partners are 15 teachers teaching kindergarten classes in the municipality of Midsayap. The conversational partners have described and narrated their lived experiences which served as the study's primary data. The experiences they openly shared were organized into themes such as common behavioral episodes, educational and learning adversities, empowering resiliency, and fostering authentic relationships. Along with these are the core ideas derived from their responses to the research questions. The study elucidated the educational challenges arising from separation anxiety, including difficulties in maintaining focus, engagement, and academic achievement. Tailored support aimed at equipping students with coping mechanisms and emotional resilience is proposed as essential for fostering their overall well-being and adaptive responses to separation-related stressors. Moreover, building authentic relationships plays an important means in supporting students' emotional needs and promoting positive outcomes. Creating a supportive and empathetic environment where pupils feel understood, valued, and safe to express their emotions is emphasized as integral to their emotional well-being and the development of healthy coping strategies. 5. Understanding the importance of weight management: a qualitative exploration of lived individual experiences.

- Abstract
Purpose: To explore the lived experiences and motivations of individuals engaged in weight management, focusing on psychological, societal, health-related, and personal factors influencing their motivations. Methods: A descriptive exploratory approach, guided by the Self-Determination Theory (SDT), was followed and semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten adults actively involved in weight management. Thematic analysis identified key themes across four domains: (i) psychological motivation (extrinsic and intrinsic), (ii) societal influence (body image, social norms, media influence), (iii) health consciousness (priority of health, health concerns), and (iv) family support and past weight management experiences (learned habits, supportive environment). Results: The findings revealed a nuanced interplay of intrinsic and extrinsic motivations, societal expectations, health priorities, and the impact of family support on weight management. Aligning with SDT, the study emphasizes the role of autonomy, competence, and relatedness in shaping individual motivations for weight management. Conclusions: The study provides valuable insights for tailoring interventions aimed at enhancing well-being by addressing the psychological, societal, health-conscious, and familial factors that influence motivations in weight management. Energy and mobility poverty are often experienced together by vulnerable and disadvantaged segments of society. Effectively addressing these issues requires identifying specific groups within unique contexts and devising context-specific interventions. Based on extensive original research, this study uncovers the energy, mobility and broader socio-economic challenges faced by working class citizens housed in Abu Dhabi's labour camps and how these challenges ultimately impact their quality of life and health. Our investigation focuses on the themes of marginalisation and spatial justice to show how labour camp residents often feel excluded from society and isolate themselves from the city and its activities. In exploring the subject of poverty and vulnerability, we show how low-income and living conditions are intertwined with energy and mobility poverty and, hence, the need for holistic solutions. To remediate these circumstances, we provide a set of policy recommendations, including increased monitoring of labour camp developers to ensure compliance with UAE regulations, guaranteeing that labour camps are part of urban planning and implementing safe soft mobility options so mobility can be achieved without requiring a personal vehicle. 7. Surviving Exile. Queer Displaced People’s Lived Experiences of Aid, Risks and Coping in Kakuma.

- Abstract
This paper examines the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ displaced individuals in Kakuma refugee camp, Kenya. Drawing on situated knowledge and relational agency, it delves into how queer people experience the humanitarian-aid system on-site, what risks they encounter, and how they exert agency to cope with the prevalent challenges of day to day life. Findings reveal that, in a country context where same-sex relations are illegalized and queer people criminalized, those displaced face heightened risks. They are confronted with the heteronormative paradigms inherent to the humanitarian-aid system, ones resulting in their neglect and denied access to much-needed assistance and protection. Structural and physical violence such as discrimination, exclusion, harassment and threats of murder exacerbate unrelenting fears and tangible risks in the camp. To navigate these challenges, they employ diverse individual and especially collective coping strategies, creating safe spaces for mutual support, exchange and hope. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Aim: The present study was conducted to investigate the lived experience of working mothers regarding their lifestyle changes in the face of covid-19 virus pandemic. Methods: This qualitative study was performed using phenomenological methodology. The research was conducted using purposive sampling of working mothers in various educational fields in Tehran during 1400-1401. After conducting 20 persons, data saturation was reached. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed with Smith's phenomenological method. Results: In this research, 8 main themes and 19 secondary themes were obtained, which main themes are: physical habits, psychological vulnerability, job problems, change of cost-income pattern, couple conflicts, mother-child conflicts, forced presence at home and difficulty of caring responsibilities. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate the need for comprehensive attention to the issues and challenges of working mothers in the face of the multidimensional and complex phenomenon of the Covid-19 pandemic and its numerous positive and negative consequences in the field of women's lifestyle. The purpose of this hermeneutic phenomenological inquiry was to explore and understand the Lived experiences of the five specified Defense of the Ancients (DOTA) Players of Fatima National High School, North Fatima District, Division of General Santos City. The participants underwent one-on-one, in-depth interviews to gain knowledge and more understanding of the phenomenon. The focus of the study, which is interpretive, is on the richness of their personal views and feelings and their impact on their experiences as DOTA players. It utilized the thematic analysis approach through the coded method in analyzing data. This research expedition revealed that being hooked on DOTA gaming created both positive and negative impacts on the participants. The interview data yields the following themes: Strengthen Social Connections, Recreational Therapy and Coping Mechanism and Aptitude Enrichment, Adrenalin Rush, Positive feelings, Negative feelings, Develop Inferiority Complex, Health risk, Effects on Academic Performance, Effects on plans, Effects on the relationship with family or loved ones. Furthermore, the result exposed that playing DOTA has numerous effects on the part of the Player. Hence, nowadays, learner/s are so fond and hooked to DOTA gaming, notwithstanding the fact that their Academic, Social, Family, and Personal lives have been strongly affected and shaped by these new advancements in technology like video games with their virtual reality environments. This study explored the teachers' transition and strategy adjustment in integrating technological approaches to teaching. This study explored the lived experiences of the teachers' transition and strategy adjustment in integrating technological approaches to teaching in Cebu Province for the school year 2023 - 2024. The challenges and highlights of utilizing technology inside the classroom are the main concern of this study. To address this, this study used Heideggerian Phenomenology as the research design. 5 participants volunteered to be part of the study and qualified with the inclusion criteria. This study used the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) popularized by Moustakas and modified by Van Kaam. These are the steps in analyzing the data. 4 emerging themes surfaced in this study. These are the (1) Shift to Digital Education; (2) Setbacks Amidst Advancements; (3) Strive for Excellence; and (4) Standardized Triumph. These themes are a clear picture of how the teachers' experiences in transitioning into utilizing technological tools inside the classroom have shown and exemplified. With this, veteran teachers are having difficulty in using these technological tools as they lack exposure and skills in using them. It is highly recommended that veteran teachers be sent to relevant training and seminars especially pertaining to the utilization and maximizing the impact of technology inside the classroom. Introduction Objective Methods Results Conclusion The Geriatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network 2.0‐Advancing Dementia Care (GEAR 2.0‐ADC) aims to advance research efforts to improve the emergency care of persons living with dementia (PLWDs).To support this objective, GEAR 2.0‐ADC convened a virtual consensus conference to prioritize emergency care research opportunities for PLWDs inclusive of perspectives of PLWDs to ensure identification of research gaps in response to their experiences and priorities. Inclusion of PLWDs as research partners is increasingly recognized as a best practice, however, approaches to facilitating consensus participation are lacking.Best practices for supporting the engagement of PLWDs in a consensus conference, applied across its three phases (pre‐conference, during the conference, and post‐conference), include: establishing a learning environment focused on research priorities before the event, presenting information in ways that align with participants' learning preferences while accommodating cognitive impairments, and providing multiple opportunities and methods for gathering post‐conference feedback from PLWDs.These strategies were identified by PLWDs and care partners (CPs) through semi‐structured interviews, who were involved in the convening process, aimed at exploring ways to enhance facilitation techniques for participants.Additionally, these summarized insights aim to encourage the use of community‐engaged approaches in discussions and consensus‐building around research priorities in emergency care, particularly for PLWDs and their CPs. This study aimed to understand the lived experiences of seasoned language instructors in online teaching. The study employed a qualitative research design using a phenomenological approach with 10 participants selected through purposive sampling from higher educational institutions in General Santos City. Results revealed that seasoned language instructors had negative and positive views on challenges in online teaching. They view the challenges as technological hurdles, situations that evoke uncertainty, limit students' participation, and prevalence of dishonesty. Additionally, language education becomes complex. On a positive note, these challenges promote innovative learning and serve as motivating factors that ignite passion for teaching. Coping mechanisms employed by seasoned language instructors encompass seeking help and collaboration, maintaining open-mindedness and introspection, participating in seminar workshops, sustaining a work-life balance, keeping a positive outlook, and seeking divine providence. Furthermore, their insights on improving online teaching accentuate the importance of learning by doing, upgrading technological skills, and pedagogical creativity, seeking peer support, and emphasizing the need for school administrators to be responsive to the evolving demands of online education. Thus, adjusting to online teaching requires passion and commitment to overcome the hurdles. Rodrigo Duterte, known for his strongman reputation as the former mayor of Davao City, sparked the emergence of the Diehard Duterte Supporters (DDS) movement during his 2016 presidential campaign. Their frustration with the status quo, systemic inequality, and ongoing corruption fueled them to gain hope and security through Duterte's lens. However, Duterte's unfulfilled campaign promises disappointed many, leading to a surge of DDS who resisted his leadership. A descriptive phenomenological approach was utilized to explore the lived experiences of the six (6) former Duterte supporters through a semi-structured interview with fifteen (15) open-ended questions. The data was analyzed through Moustakas' phenomenological data analysis method. Results indicated that the participants' ideal leader and view of Duterte's presidency showed why they stopped supporting him. They expressed disappointment for themselves and Duterte. Moreover, they have gotten out of the cognitive dissonance chamber and resisted justifying the system. Results highlighted the essence of critical thinking, which allowed the former supporters to eliminate their cognitive dissonance and make smarter decisions. The study's central findings indicate that understanding the causes of growing unquestioning support for a political figure can better equip individuals to deal with it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Despite extensive studies on academic achievement, the unique challenges and resilience of students from singleparent households remain underexplored. Through purposive sampling, this phenomenological research explored the lived experiences of nine (9) senior high school students from a well-known performing arts school in Quezon City who grew up in a single-parent household. A researcher-made interview protocol with ten (10) open-ended questions that was validated by renowned experts was administered to gather responses and sufficient, vital information from the participants. With the utilization of Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis, three (3) superordinate themes were generated: (1) challenges encountered which delves to the emotional, supportive and financial encounters of the participants; (2) experiences of growing up in a single parent household which pertains to the new responsibilities alongside with the bullying and social challenges faced by the participants; and, (3) emotional well-being which covers the participants' emotional struggles, negative outlook on personal future and their hopes for future family life. In education, the stories of LGBTQIA+ students are one of the most powerful tales of hardship. It uncovers a wide range of experiences, much like opening a box full of obstacles and successes. This study primarily aimed to delve into and provide a comprehensive understanding of the struggles and successes of LGBTQIA+ students at Morong National High School. The researchers used self-reported data from in-depth semi-structured interviews involving 20 students, five per grade level, from Grades 7 to 10 as the main instrument and were interpreted using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) to identify patterns or themes within the qualitative data. The student-respondents were selected through purposive sampling ensuring representation from diverse backgrounds. As the respondents shared their stories, the researchers found that some LGBTQIA+ students experience gradual teasing from their fellow learners. Even though they faced such challenges, they succeeded in breaking stereotypes and excelled academically. They also demonstrated their skills and abilities in sports, leadership, and other extracurricular pursuits. As a coping mechanism, the respondents mentioned that they seek support from friends and other support groups. Their hobbies and engagement in various activities help divert their attention from gender-based discrimination. Therefore, the results indicate that we need to work together in schools and communities to make everyone feel included. This research tells us that we must create safe places for LGBTQIA+ students so they don't face discrimination or bullying. Schools should let students talk about their experiences and feel like they belong. If schools show understanding and help with education, they can help LGBTQIA+ students do well. Motivation allows students to get interested in learning, serving as a "bridge" to academic achievement. However, mathematics is deemed as a complex one and involves a lot of thinking to understand its concepts which leads students to get discouraged which transforms motivation into a "broken bridge" due to several aspects. The study traverses and elucidates the lived experiences of students in terms of their motivation in learning mathematics lessons. The study, with a qualitative approach, uses Heideggerian Phenomenology and Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) anchored on the modified Van Kaam Approach popularized by Moustakas. The selection of the participants was done with a purposive strategy aligning with the inclusion criteria set in this study. The process of gathering the data was done through conducting interviews with ten student participants from BSEd-Math 1 in Cebu Technological University - Moalboal Campus. The themes of the study are Theme 1: The Broken Drive, Theme 2: The Rebuilding, and Theme 3: The Hope collectively represent the lived experiences of the students in terms of their motivational aspect in learning the mathematics subject. Results of this study show that there are varieties of reasons why students have low motivation in learning mathematics, and at the same time have a different way of coping with such difficulties encountered. It is recommended that parents should encourage their children to cope with their learning difficulties, and teachers should encourage students academically in a way of employing the interest of their students in discussing the mathematics lessons. Mathematics is a complex subject where different teaching strategies need to be considered and utilized to teach more engagingly. However, each student has a different level of intellectual capacity some can learn fast, and some take time to internalize the topic. This study investigates the lived experiences of the students towards different strategies in teaching mathematics. The study used a qualitative methodology that utilizes Heideggerian Phenomenology and Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) anchored on the Modified Van Kaam Approach popularized by Moustakas. The participants in this study were chosen using purposive sampling with inclusion criteria. The researchers conducted face-to-face interviews with ten BSED-Math students who are studying at Cebu Technological University which led to the following themes (1) The Pessimist, (2) The Optimist, (3) The Self-Directed, (4) The Discomfort, and (5) The Teachers' Criticizers. These themes emphasized the experiences and the unbearable pain of the students. It is advised to take the participants' degree of intelligence into account when planning how the teacher will present the lesson and by soliciting and taking into account the students' feedback both during and after the discussion as the class as a whole will benefit from smooth learning transitions. Using the Heideggerian Phenomenology and Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) based on Moustakas Modified Van Kaam Approach, the study analyzes the narratives of 16 participants from Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) Math 1 students at Cebu Technological University-Moalboal Campus and identifies four core themes: (1) The Seeker, (2) The Warrior, (3) The Motivated, and (4) The Consequences of Choices. The findings suggest that these students have developed a strong sense of purpose and motivation despite facing challenges along the way. It is recommended that schools should implement programs to change student's perspectives on BSEd Mathematics courses and further investigation of various instructional techniques and approaches should be done to foster the appreciation of Mathematics among students. In college, education should not end when you become a parent. This study explicated the lived experiences of those college education students who became parents before graduation. The struggles and unheard voices of the studentparent are essential in creating recommendations and a management plan that can assist them in continuing what they started. This study utilized Heideggerian Phenomenology. This design is a qualitative study that explicates the lived experiences of the participants who are student-parents of the university. The sampling design utilized in this study was purposive sampling following established inclusion criteria to identify the participants of the study. The participants should be bonafide education students at Cebu Technological University - Moalboal Campus, should have a child or children, and should be living within Moalboal. 5 participants were interviewed. The data gathered were analyzed and interpreted using the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) popularized by Moustakas and modified by Van Kaam. There were three emerging themes generated after the analysis. These are (Theme 1) The Pillar of Tenacity, (Theme 2) The Pillar of Tranquility, and (Theme 3) The Pillar of Inspiration. These themes are the reflection of the student-parents' lived experiences. AbstractFor any expectant mother, the worst possible outcome of pregnancy is for the baby to die. The experience can lead to various forms of physical and psychosocial morbidity. The purpose of this study was to gain in-depth understanding of the experiences of mothers who suffered stillbirth with a view to improving the clinical management of stillbirth. Semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted with ten women who had experienced stillbirths within one year prior to the interview. The interviews were recorded and transcribed verbatim. The data were analyzed using Smith’s interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) model and ATLAS.ti 8 software. Healthcare professionals identified three main themes: clinical management for stillbirth and bereaved mothers across various roles; public hospitals; and the Jordanian Ministry of Health Policies and Guidelines. The study findings underscore the devastating impact of insensitive and poor-quality care on bereaved mothers, highlighting how it exacerbates their grief and sorrow. These findings emphasize the need for training healthcare providers in perinatal loss and bereavement care, as well as the importance of adopting new policies and guidelines to improve the quality of care provided to bereaved mothers. Family caregivers experience health, financial, and social burdens related to caregiving responsibilities. North Carolina has an estimated 1.3 million caregivers, equating to a value of $13.1 billion per year. Caregiving demands warrant additional understanding of the caregiver lived experiences. Our objective was to document these North Carolina caregiver experiences during the era of COVID-19 through focus groups. Participants were recruited through diverse community organizations. All 44 caregivers who completed interest solicitation surveys were invited to participate; 29 caregivers participated across 11 groups. Thematic analysis was used to code and synthesize transcripts from each participant using Dedoose software and guided by the Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research (COREQ). Themes included: caregiver routines (caregiving as an all-encompassing role; dimensions of support); most challenging parts (exhaustion and defeat; lacking support; evolving relationships); most rewarding parts (care recipient resilience; quality time; sense of purpose); social service and healthcare system interactions (positive interactions; negative interactions; inaccessible services); COVID-19 impacts on caregiving (opportunities; challenges); and caregiver suggestions for system improvements (increasing financial support; improved coordination; ideological shifts). Caregivers shared unmet needs, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. Purpose: This article aims to explore the potential of feminist phenomenology as a conceptual framework for advancing women's entrepreneurship research and the suitability of interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) to the proposed framework. Design/methodology/approach: The article critically examines the current state of women's entrepreneurship research regarding the institutional context and highlights the benefits of a shift towards feminist phenomenology. Findings: The prevailing disembodied and gender-neutral portrayal of entrepreneurship has resulted in an equivocal understanding of women's entrepreneurship and perpetuated a male-biased discourse within research and practice. By adopting a feminist phenomenological approach, this article argues for the importance of considering the ontological dimensions of lived experiences of situatedness, intersubjectivity, intentionality and temporality in analysing women entrepreneurs' agency within gendered institutional contexts. It also demonstrates that feminist phenomenology could broaden the current scope of IPA regarding the embodied dimension of language. Research limitations/implications: The adoption of feminist phenomenology and IPA presents new avenues for research that go beyond the traditional cognitive approach in entrepreneurship, contributing to theory and practice. The proposed conceptual framework also has some limitations that provide opportunities for future research, such as a phenomenological intersectional approach and arts-based methods. Originality/value: The article contributes to a new research agenda in women's entrepreneurship research by offering a feminist phenomenological framework that focuses on the embodied dimension of entrepreneurship through the integration of IPA and conceptual metaphor theory (CMT). As automation becomes increasingly integrated into educational settings, understanding its role in shaping students' writing experiences is crucial. The goal of this qualitative phenomenological research was to explore the lived experiences, motivations, role of AI in students' writing, influence of AI on the learning process, and insights in using AI writing tools of the senior high school students of Monkayo National High School. There were 10 participants in this study who were selected through snowball sampling. An in-depth interview was used to gather the information needed. The findings revealed the potentials and pitfalls of AI in developing the students' writing skills. Most of the participants have seen AI's advantages, like completing the writing tasks easily, which meets the deadline, making good-quality outputs adhering to the technicalities of grammar, improving academic achievements, and gaining knowledge about writing. However, there are also some drawbacks, like students becoming indolent and AI dependent; AI diminishes one's critical thinking skills; AI gives inaccurate information; there is a limitation on usage; it is inaccessible when offline; and it is bad for one's health. Nevertheless, the role of AI in students' writing processes is significant. Its effectiveness and efficiency cannot be denied, but it should be used in moderation. Hence, incorporating AI in learning should be guided by strategies that balance its benefits with the need to maintain creative and critical thinking in students' writing. Educators should use AI as a tool to enhance, not replace, human creativity. This study aimed to investigate the challenges faced and the strategies employed by Filipino educators in teaching English expository writing based on their lived experiences. Participants who were enrolled in the program Doctor of Philosophy in Education, major in English during the School Year 2022-2023 in a private university in the Philippines were selected through convenience sampling method. Labov's thematic analysis approach was utilized as the framework for narrative analysis. Based on the findings of this research, the participants normally experience the challenges of cultural diversity, writing proficiency, time constraints, resource limitations, diverse learning styles, and student engagement. In order to navigate such challenges, however, the participants employ various strategies. For cultural diversity, the participants resort to the enhancement of a culturally inclusive content, respectful feedback, and peer collaboration. In terms of writing proficiency, the participants utilize the strategies of differentiation, skill building, and individualized support. To address time constraints, the courses of action of educators are prioritizing key concepts, chunking and sequencing, and structured lesson plans. In coping with resource limitations, the teachers of English expository writing utilize adaptable materials, minimalist approaches, and collaborative learning in their teaching methods. As regards diversity in students' learning styles, the teachers adapt multimodal instruction, student choice, and universal design. Lastly, the lack of student engagement is being addressed through interactive activities, real-world relevance, and gamification. A researcher-designed comprehensive training and development plan was recommended to further improve the educators' skills in teaching expository writing. This training and development model is envisioned to provide opportunities for teachers to upskill their pedagogies and better improve their teaching effectiveness. This qualitative study focused on the lived experiences of secondary social science out-of-the-field teachers which become a concern since it has an impact on the quality of education. The theory of Vygotsky (1978), social constructivism, and Shulman's (1986) Pedagogical Content Knowledge and Subject Matter Knowledge (SMK) are utilized to anchor this study. This study employs a qualitative research methodology, namely a hermeneutic method of research. The data were acquired from five (5) participants from the Schools Division of Quezon City who were chosen using a purposive sampling technique and employed a thematic analysis to reveal the experience of the participants. The findings revealed that the inadequate number of teachers is a primary reason for teaching outside their specialization. Despite initial apprehension, these teachers demonstrate adaptability and confidence in their assigned subjects. They prioritize effective learning through creative teaching methods and interactive activities. However, teaching unfamiliar subjects presents challenges due to limited content knowledge and an unfamiliar environment. Despite this, the teachers show resilience by utilizing various learning materials, seeking help from colleagues, and planning lessons meticulously. This research looked into the lived experiences of individuals wedded to visually impaired partners. This study employed face-to-face interview using a semi-structured questionnaires as an interview guide flow. This research employed a phenomenological approach where thematic analysis was utilized, and responses were qualitatively evaluated as means for developing subthemes, and superordinate themes. With this type of data analysis, the researchers were able to identify common patterns that provide significant answers to the research questions addressed in the study. Results presented eight (8) dominant themes centering on the participants, namely; (1) Life of a Dim Sighted Individual, (2) Foundation of Love Ideation, (3) Walk down the Lover's Lane, (4) Road to be Missus, (5) Art of living the Married Life, (6) Love in the Reflection of Two People, (7) Envisioning Future with Clear Sight, and (8) Valuable Lessons from Life Experience. Findings shows that compassion, acceptance, and love are a momentous decree in sustaining marriage relationships. In light of the findings, programs that can be establish is an optical/medical mission for at least during every quarter in order to lessen the financial burden of check ups for individuals with visual impairment with the support of Local Government Units (LGUs). The aim of this study was to understand these experiences when participating in a VESD rehabilitation program.Qualitative individual and semi-structured interviews were held (at 3 months post-discharge) with stroke survivors discharged home at a very early stage and participating in a VESD programme. A thematic analysis process was applied.Nine participants living in Sweden and following a mild or moderate stroke expressed their narratives through the following themes: “The importance of the VESD team intervention during the initial home rehabilitation”; “Everyday life was perceived as a struggle depending on close relatives”; “Experiencing problems with fatigue and low energy” and “Feeling angrier or more worried in everyday life”Home-based VESD rehabilitation was important for increasing patients’ sense of independence and control in daily life, while at the same time making them feel secure in the support from the rehabilitation team. Future research may investigate how VESD functions in other countries and healthcare systems.People following a stroke seem positive to rehabilitate in their familiar home environment when working towards personalised goals with the support of a rehabilitation team.Through Very Early Supported Discharge people with stroke may experience engagement and motivation in their own rehabilitation process from the onset.Very Early Supported Discharge tends to encourage family members to be supportive and involved in the rehabilitation early after a stroke.Early rehabilitation in a home environment may enhance the individuals’ feelings of self-reliance and independence. The phenomena where religion decides to break its own boundaries, is one where a lack of information exists. This study sought to explore the lived experiences of clergywomen inside the churches considering the limited local studies and literature conducted about clergywomen in the country. In light of this, additional knowledge is contributed to the few existing bodies of literature, specifically information about clergywomen's challenges, roles, and how they view themselves, highlighting the essence of clergywomen in the country. Purposive sampling was used to select participants with predetermined standards of serving the church as a clergywoman and actively participating in religious activities. This study utilized phenomenology, which included conducting one-on-one semi-structured interviews to gather data. The findings presented "ascension to pastoral ministry", "roles and responsibilities", "financial difficulty", "mockery", and "disagreement" as themes. It was also found that the participants have positive relationships, a supportive environment, and "positive view of themselves" even though they experienced struggles. The participants had different roles in the church, encountered several struggles, and had painful yet pleasing experiences as they defined them, leading them to have a positive view of themselves. Based on the findings, it is recommended to women in clergy, religious institutions and to the community to be more accepting of clergywomen in religious organizations. Moreover, further studies regarding clergywomen with different backgrounds such as single and married clergywomen as well as other members of the church including LGBT+ members are emphasized for future researchers to gain an in-depth understanding of the phenomena. The study investigates various aspects of the work-from-home experience, combining quantitative and qualitative methodologies to provide a comprehensive understanding. The quantitative phase reveals that work-from-home employees exhibit high levels of self-efficacy, above-average levels of job satisfaction, and above-average mental health. There is a very low correlation between self-efficacy and mental health (r=.24), and the relationship is significant (p= .005) However, there is a very low correlation between self-efficacy and mental health (r=-.12), and the relationship is not significant (p= .164). In the qualitative phase, the lived experience of work-from-home employees is explored, highlighting the adaptability of their work environment, time efficiency, and the value of effective management. Challenges include social isolation and technical issues. Coping mechanisms involve breathing techniques, mindfulness, and social engagement. The integration of quantitative and qualitative data suggests actionable strategies, including training webinars on technical issue optimization, promoting open communication between employees and supervisors, and implementing stress management programs. The study's findings contribute to understanding the complexities of the work-from-home experience and offer practical recommendations for enhancing the well-being and effectiveness of work-from-home employees. Objectives: The overarching aim of this study is to explore, examine and identify the experience that young women with congenital heart disease face as they transition through adolescence into womanhood. Design: This is an empirical qualitative study conducted in the form of three focus groups. The study design and analysis adopted a feminist ontological positioning to elucidate the voice of women and offer an alternative perspective of cardiology health care. Data were analysed using the inductive thematic approach informed by the study aims. Participants: A group of seven female participants (mean age 26) based in the United Kingdom, each with varying degrees of congenital heart defects that required open heart surgery growing up, was included in the study. Results: Three key themes with antecedent concepts emerged: (a) the impact of womanhood and the potential influence of motherhood on the young women themselves transitioning through adolescence with CHD within medical and sociocultural contexts, (b) the challenges of being a woman and undergoing heart surgery during adolescence on the young women's health before, during and after surgery and (c) the effect of existing online/offline healthcare and social structures on women's health during transitioning through adolescence These themes were encompassed under an overarching theme of psychological complexities developed throughout the cardiac journey from diagnosis through to post‐surgery. Conclusion: This study built on the limited exploration of being a young woman and having CHD and confirmed that there are vulnerabilities and challenges in having CHD as a young woman transitioning through adolescence. This was a result of sex (biological characteristics) and gender factors (socially constructed roles). This leads to short‐ and long‐term implications on psychological well‐being. This research indicates that enhancements are needed in the provision of care and psychological support for young women with CHD. This will help to enable women to achieve a good quality of life in addition to increased life expectancy offered by medical advancements. Patient or Public Contribution: Active participant involvement was crucial to ensure the authentic female voice in the study. This study received support from young women with congenital heart disease. Young women contributed to the study design, recruitment of participants and analysis of results. Background: Multiple sclerosis is an irreversible autoimmune disease with significant physical, psychological, and social impacts. In-depth interviews were conducted, audio-recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using Martins' three steps. The ATLAS.ti 7.0 program was used for data analysis. Results: Two themes and seven subthemes were identified that highlighted the experiences of women in pregnancy with multiple sclerosis: (a) the influence of the disease on the decision to be a mother, with subthemes “The disease determines when to be a mother” and “Considering alternatives to spontaneous pregnancy”, and (b) the vision of motherhood with multiple sclerosis, with subthemes “Worry about how the disease can affect the pregnancy”, “Worry about how the pregnancy can affect the disease,” “Concerns about childbirth”, “Difficulty with breastfeeding”, and “Worry about the transmission of the disease.” Conclusions/Implications for Practice: Women with multiple sclerosis often face a difficult decision regarding whether to become pregnant. The period of pregnancy and puerperium can be fraught with anxiety, especially in terms of concerns about their ability to raise children. In light of the limited scientific evidence regarding the relationship between multiple sclerosis and pregnancy and the conflicting advice often given to these women, the findings of this study may be used to help improve the quality of the care provided to this population. This qualitative research study explored the family formation processes and parenting experiences of same-sex couples in the unique socio-cultural context of the Philippines. While same-sex relationships and LGBTQ + rights have gained increasing recognition globally, the Philippines remains a conservative society with deeply rooted traditional norms and religious influences. It delved into the complexities of family formation, including relationship initiation, and decision-making processes regarding parenting. Findings suggest that same-sex couples in the Philippines employ diverse strategies to create families, such as adoption, and raising children of a family relative. These strategies are often influenced by factors such as familial support, and socio-cultural norms. The parenting experiences of same-sex couples revealed both shared challenges, such as discrimination and exclusion, as well as unique opportunities for reshaping traditional gender roles within the household. By highlighting the lived experiences of these couples, this study advocates for a more inclusive understanding of family structures and challenges the prevailing heteronormative discourse. The findings underscored the need for policy initiatives that safeguard the rights of LGBTQ + individuals and families, while fostering social acceptance and understanding within the Philippines' cultural framework. The study aimed to explore the lived experiences of incarcerated elders. Qualitative research design, specifically hermeneutic phenomenology was utilized in obtaining its objectives. The study found that elderly persons deprived of liberty were unsatisfied and had a low quality of life, which included unmet psychological and physiological needs. It also indicated that poor prison management of the facility is the cause of unsatisfied life. Lastly, despite the deprivation of freedom, incarcerated elders were still able to acquire positive insights into their experiences inside the pre-detention facility that may help them as they are reintroduced to society. Background & Objective: Evaluating the academic performance and competencies of medical students is essential in the medical field. Written tests play a big part in this situation. This study's primary goal was to comprehend medical students' experiences with their exams. Materials & Methods: The study was carried out from 2020 to 2022 at the Fasa University of Medical Sciences in the Iranian province of Fars, using a qualitative research methodology using a phenomenological approach. In-depth one-on-one interviews with the investigators were conducted with twenty-three medical students from a variety of professions, including health, medicine, nursing, operating room technology, anesthesiology technology, and medical emergencies. The interpretive phenomenological approach was used to analyze the data, including observations made during written exams and in-depth interviews. Results: The results of the study revealed four general themes that reflected the views of the medical students about their exam experiences. The themes that emerged were emotional fluctuations, stressful difficulty, coping strategies, and blessings in disguise. Conclusion: Despite the participants' initial uncertainty, the study participants saw the exams as a blessing in disguise. They saw exams as essential learning resources and a means of gaining access to stable job chances. However, because of the psychological strain and scoring direction, the exam also presented a hard challenge. Furthermore, students experienced a range of positive and negative emotional changes as a result of the test. In order to manage their test anxiety, the students used both positive and negative strategies for coping. The concept of recovery has emerged as a prominent paradigm to understand processes of change in individuals with substance use problems. To date, most studies have focused on personal recovery as the key driving force of recovery journeys, generally individualizing the often-disabling social realities that persons in recovery face. To counterbalance this bias, this paper focuses on the contextual dynamics at stake during recovery processes, based on the lived experiences of 30 persons in drug addiction recovery in Flanders (Belgium). A Lifeline Interview Method was applied to elicit recovery narratives, which were thematically analysed. We found that interpersonal relationships, enabling and disabling places, and socio-economic factors facilitate or impede recovery in meaningful ways. The findings also show how these diverse contextual dimensions are interrelated and ambiguous. Researchers, policymakers, and treatment providers should acknowledge the relational nature of recovery and the invalidating impact of stigma across the three identified contextual levels. So this study aims to examine the impacts of COVID-19 on different aspects of urban tourist guides' lives. this research was conducted as qualitative research in a phenomenological format. 16 tourist guides of Ardabil were investigated by snowball sampling method to collect data. the data was obtained using semi-structured interviews and analyzed in a seven-step Colaizzi method.based on the analysis the positive and negative dimensions of life were recorded in this period and 10 categories of meanings were identified for the lived experience of the tourist guides of Ardabil province during the outbreak of COVID-19, which are: changes in lifestyle, economic challenges and opportunities, transformation of employment pattern, changing in attitudes, advertising, compliance with health issues, changing forms of social relations, mental and psychological issues, stagnation in activities and organizational obstacles. Abstract Background The COVID 19 lockdown created a shift in medical education from the traditional physical classroom to online learning. Objectives To explore the lived experiences of students in various years of medical education attending a medical college in Chennai, India. Methods In this qualitative exploration of lived experiences we conducted 4 focus group discussions among students of the four years in the medical college with the help of a checklist. We recorded the interviews, transcribed them and performed a thematic content analysis. Results There was a gendered impact of the lockdown on the online learning experiences with women students finding it challenging to attend classes balancing their gender roles of performing household chores. Online learning offered some advantages in the form of increased participation and engagement due to the partial anonymity. The greatest disadvantage of online learning was lack of clinical learning experience. The students resorted to fabricating case studies for discussion, which some students found useful and some commented that it can never replace real life clinical discussions. A generational gap between adoption of technology between the senior professors and the students hampered the online learning. Online assessments were challenging, and many students resorted to cheating in these exams. Conclusions Though online learning offers several advantages, it has serious limitations in offering the clinical learning experience. While planning adoption of online learning into routine medical education adequate time must be set aside for real life clinical exposure in addition to the online lectures and demonstrations for conceptual understanding.

The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic caused immense changes, particularly in education. There has been a shift from mostly face-to-face to increased remote learning, and students have tried to adapt to this change. Hybrid classes are now implemented as students adjust to the new normal of the post-pandemic era. While the transition for some can be smooth and challenging for others, literature shows that adjustment comes with a wide range of experiences. Thus, this action research aims to understand better first-year engineering students' academic and social adjustment in a hybrid setting. A phenomenological approach was employed, involving thirty (30) first-year engineering students who participated in online focus group discussions. Transcripts from the focus group discussions were coded, categorized, and thematically analyzed. Observations during the interview were analyzed, and students' written essays were examined. Findings of the academic adjustments toward hybrid learning indicated that the online modality is integral to student learning, making it flexible and inclusive. Combining online and in-person classes on the same day can add to the challenge of transitioning. Moreover, the social adjustment of first-year students focused on the lack of social interaction and social support that can significantly impact their success. Implications for program development were discussed.

Cancer, as one of the most prevalent diseases in the world, can have many negative effects on the patients' lives; but nowadays researchers pay attention to the positive psychological changes after getting cancer. The aim of this study was to investigate the lived experiences of women with cancer of post-traumatic growth.This study examines the biological experiences of cancer patients with post-traumatic growth situated using the qualitative phionsenomenological method. Statistical population of the study included all women with cancer in Isfahan and Yazd.The participants of this study were 16 Women with cancer who were selected by snowball sampling. Also, the participants of the study completed the post-traumatic growth questionnaire (Tedski & Caldehon, 1996). To collect data, we used semi-structured interviews which continued to saturate. Interview questions include 1- How was your experience of growth after trauma? 2- What have been the consequences of cancer for you? 3- How do you describe your personality before and after cancer? 3- What changes do you feel in yourself and the world after experiencing cancer? It was. and to analyze the findings, we used Van Mann's theory.The research findings were gained in the form of a general theme of psychological upgrade and four main themes including spiritual transformation, well-being, personality changes, inter-personal changes, and lifestyle changes each of which has various sub-themes.The results of the present study indicate the experience of post-traumatic growth and significant growth in women with cancer. Because the current study findings are an analysis of the biological experience of cancer patients from post-traumatic growth, this study can have considerable practical results for cancer specialists, especially psychologists and paramedics, and of course patients.

Abstract Background Between 2015 and 2019 the Chronic Headache Education and Self-management Study (CHESS) developed and tested a supportive self-management approach that aimed to improve outcomes for people with chronic migraine or chronic tension type headache with/without episodic migraine. However, a paucity of qualitative research which explored the lived experiences of people with chronic headache was evidenced. In response, we undertook to explore the experiences of living with chronic headaches of people who participated in the CHESS study. Methods We adopted qualitative methodologies, inviting participants in the CHESS study to participate in semi-structured interviews. In phase 1 (feasibility study), a thematic analysis was conducted. In phase 2 (main CHESS trial), interviews were informed by topic guides developed from our learning from the phase 1 interviews. Pen portrait methodology and thematic analysis was employed allowing us to explore the data longitudinally. Results Phase 1, 15 interviews (10 female) age range 29 to 69 years (median 47 years) revealed the complexities of living with chronic headache. Six overarching themes were identified including the emotional impact and the nature of their headaches. Phase 2, included 66 interviews (26 participants; median age group 50s (range 20s-60s); 20 females. 14 were interviewed at three points in time (baseline, 4 and 12 months) Through an iterative process four overlapping categories of headache impact emerged from the data and were agreed: i) ‘I will not let headaches rule my life’; ii) ‘Headaches rule my life’; iii) ‘Headaches out of control—something needs to change’; and iv) ‘Headaches controlled—not ruling my life’. One of these categories was assigned to each pen portrait at each timepoint. The remaining 12 participants were interviewed at two time points during a year; pen portraits were again produced. Analysis revealed that the headache impact categories developed above held true in this sample also providing some validation of the categories. Conclusions These data give an insight into the complexities of living with chronic headache. Chronic headache is unpredictable, permeating all aspects of an individual’s life; even when an individual feels that their headache is controlled and not interfering, this situation can rapidly change. It shows us that more work needs to be done both medically and societally to help people living with this often-hidden condition. Trial registration ISRCTN79708100

48. Wails Inside Arab Homes: Examining the lived experiences and exploitation of returnee Ugandan migrant domestic workers from Saudi Arabia

The study aimed to investigate the experiences and exploitation of Ugandan migrant domestic workers who returned from Saudi Arabia. The study followed a constructivist paradigm, an interpretive framework that focuses on individuals' understanding of the world and their creation of unique meanings. A qualitative approach was utilised, specifically employing a phenomenological case study design. Data was gathered through unstructured interviews with twenty-eight (28) migrant domestic workers. Thematic analysis was employed to analyse the data. The findings regarding the lived experiences and exploitation of returnee Ugandan migrant domestic workers were visualised through concept maps created using NVivo version 10.0. The study discovered that the returnee workers' experiences were primarily related to their interactions with various individuals in their employers' households, including dealing with abusive employers, inconsiderate children and relatives, and challenging working conditions. Other experiences involved working in an unfriendly environment, carrying out difficult tasks, facing heavy workloads, experiencing occupational health difficulties, enduring physical abuse, inadequate rest, food deprivation, sexual advances, and false allegations. Consequently, providing legal protection for domestic workers in Saudi Arabia is crucial. Although progress has been made in addressing legal gaps, particularly regarding weekly rest days, more work remains. This includes implementing or expanding minimum wages and aligning working hour restrictions with those applicable to other workers. It is therefore recommended that Uganda and Saudi Arabia revise labour export laws to ensure that the rights of migrant domestic workers are respected.

Abstract Background Health has historically been adversely affected by social, economic, and political pandemics. In parallel with the spread of diseases, so do the risks of comorbidity and death associated with their consequences. As a result of the current pandemic, shifting resources and services in resource-poor settings without adequate preparation has intensified negative consequences, which global service interruptions have exacerbated. Pregnant women are especially vulnerable during infectious disease outbreaks, and the current pandemic has significantly impacted them. Methods This study used an interpretive phenomenological analysis study with a feminist lens to investigate how women obtained healthcare in Ebonyi, Ogun, and Sokoto states Nigeria during the COVID-19 pandemic. We specifically investigated whether the epidemic influenced women’s decisions to seek or avoid healthcare and whether their experiences differed from those outside of it. Results We identified three superordinate themes: (1) the adoption of new personal health behaviour in response to the pandemic; (2) the pandemic as a temporal equalizer for marginalized individuals; (3) the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on maternal health care. In Nigeria, pregnant women were affected in a variety of ways by the COVID-19 epidemic. Women, particularly those socially identified as disabled, had to cross norms of disadvantage and discrimination to seek healthcare because of the pandemic’s impact on prescribed healthcare practices, the healthcare system, and the everyday landscapes defined by norms of disadvantage and discrimination. Conclusion It is clear from the current pandemic that stakeholders must begin to strategize and develop plans to limit the effects of future pandemics on maternal healthcare, particularly for low-income women.

Abstract Background Emergency personnel are the first line of emergency response systems to respond to emergencies; in essence, they are usually exposed to a wide range of physical and psychological problems. Accordingly, the current study aimed to clarify the lived experiences of paramedics when exposed to Patients’ Deaths during their missions in 2023. Methods This study was carried out using a qualitative approach and interpretative phenomenology from January 9, 2022, to September 21, 2023. The research was performed in Fars, Alborz, and Isfahan provinces in Iran. Data were gathered using semi-structured interviews with 17 male emergency personnel (both from the emergency medical service and Red Crescent). The obtained data were analyzed utilizing Smith’s approach to clarify the lived experiences of emergency responders when facing deaths in various incidents in Iran. Results Seventeen emergency personnel with the age range of 24–60 (average = 39) years and with a history of confronting patients’ deaths during their services were interviewed. Their lived experiences of being exposed to patients’ deaths during the emergency response in Iran were classified into three main themes: psychological and emotional status, personality, disposition, and behavior status, and mental and physical status. Sub-themes such as psychological and emotional problems, mental and physical problems, and sub-subthemes such as anxiety, stress, decreased appetite, irritability, insomnia, forgetfulness, and fatigue were also noted within the main themes. Conclusion While emergency personnel work diligently to save the lives of patients, the current study demonstrated that they were susceptible to multiple psychological, emotional, and physical problems, which potentially affect their lives outside of the workplace and make them more vulnerable to related physiological and psychological diseases. It is recommended that policymakers and clinical educators make ways to prevent these problems and provide emergency personnel with physical, psychological, and emotional support.
