Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are important precursors of ground-level ozone and secondary organic aerosol, and its monitoring and emission control are very necessary for national environmental protection. Under the guide of policy and demand, on-board monitoring technology for VOCs becomes popular. The on-board monitoring technology has high spatial and temporal resolution and high efficiency for VOCs monitoring, which has become the hotspot technology in VOCs rapid monitoring filed. However, when there are many target compounds with the same quality, there is only one peak in the mass spectrum for these compounds obtained by the traditional on-board monitoring technology with the method of single mass spectrometer, which reduces the detection precision. Therefore, dual mode VOCs on-board monitoring system including SPI-TOF MS model and fast GC-SPI-TOF MS model were established by developing fast gas chromatography (GC)-single photon ionization (SPI)-time of flight mass spectrometry (TOF MS) devices combing with mobile car. When VOCs were monitored by the on-board monitoring system, the SPI-TOF MS mode was firstly used to analyze the VOCs in air by the process of driving, and the results of real-time qualitative quantitative analysis for each point of VOCs were obtained. When high value point of VOCs pollution was found, the car was stopped, and the analysis mode was switched to GC-SPI-TOF MS to determine whether there were compounds with the same m/z, which aimed at ensuring the speed of onboard monitoring and improving the detection accuracy at the same time. During the research, the performance of the system was evaluated by PAMs and TO-15 standard gas. The results showed that the system had a good detection ability for isomers and co-effluent components from GC. The reproducibility error of signal intensities were lower than 5.00% for 92% compounds by both SPI-TOF MS mode and GC-SPI-TOF MS mode, the reproducibility error of retention time was lower than 0.30% for 100% compounds, and the detection limits for typical VOCs species were between 0.28×10-9 and 8.50×10-9, which were better than the national or local testing standard. The system was applied to VOCs monitoring at an industrial park. With high time resolution (in seconds) monitoring ability, m/z 120 was identified for normal propyl benzene which came from suspicious enterprises B. Rapid GC-SPI-TOF MS is a quick and accurate monitoring equipment for VOCs, which not only improves the ability of equipment for VOCs monitoring, but also provides data support for VOCs emission management and control in China.

In order to ensure the full melting of the thermoplastic composites (TPC) prepreg in the process of automated fiber placement (AFP) and offer the potential to realize the in-situ consolidation for TPC, it is necessary to control the temperature of the prepreg in AFP. Aiming at the processing speed will be changed within the larger scope, an infrared heating technology with fast response rate and efficient was proposed. Based on the analysis of the heat transfer process between the infrared heat source and the layers, the control equation of dynamic temperature was put forward and the matching relationship between the radiation intensity and laying speed was established. Based on the AFP platform, the infrared heating system which adopts the feedforward control method was constructed and the corresponding control strategy was formulated according to the dynamic thermostatic control equation to realize the heating temperature of prepreg controlled accurately. The experiment results show that the infrared heating thermostatic control system can meet the requirement of dynamic thermostatic control in the condition of variable speed and the compressive strength and the interlaminar shear strength for AFP component are closed to the moulded component.

Helium(4He, or α)is the second most abundant element in the observable Universe. The α-particle induced reactions such as(α, γ), (α, n) and (α, p) play a crucial role in nuclear astrophysics, especially for understanding stellar heliumburning. Because of the strong Coulomb repulsion, it is greatly hindered to directly measure the cross sections for these α-capture reactions at stellar energies. Alpha-cluster transfer reaction is a powerful tool for investigation of astrophysical(α, γ), (α, n)and(α, p)reactions since it can preferentially populate the natural-parity states with an α-cluster structure which dominantly contribute to these astrophysical α-capture reactions during stellar heliumburning. In this paper, we reviewthe theoretical scheme, theexperimental technique, astrophysical applications and the future perspectives of such approach based on α-cluster transfer reactions.

We herein present an overview of the upcoming 5th edition of the World Health Organization Classification of Haematolymphoid Tumours focussing on lymphoid neoplasms. Myeloid and histiocytic neoplasms will be presented in a separate accompanying article. Besides listing the entities of the classification, we highlight and explain changes from the revised 4th edition. These include reorganization of entities by a hierarchical system as is adopted throughout the 5th edition of the WHO classification of tumours of all organ systems, modification of nomenclature for some entities, revision of diagnostic criteria or subtypes, deletion of certain entities, and introduction of new entities, as well as inclusion of tumour-like lesions, mesenchymal lesions specific to lymph node and spleen, and germline predisposition syndromes associated with the lymphoid neoplasms.

Abstract Background To investigate the clinical and pathologic features as well as the MYC translocations of childhood Burkitt lymphoma (BL) from China. Methods Fourty-three cases of childhood BL were retrospectively investigated in morphology, immunophenotype, genotype, treatments and survival analysis. Results Clinically, there was a marked male predominance in sex distribution (M: F = 9.75:1); abdomen was the most frequent extranodal sites of involvement (46.5 %), followed by jaws and facial bones (16.3 %). Two third of the patients were in stageI ~ II. Morphologically, 69.76 % of the cases showed classical histologic features, while 30.24 % of them showed greater nuclear pleomorphism in size and shape. Five cases (11.6 %) were positive for EBER1/2. Thirty-one of the 40 cases (77.5 %) had the aberration of IGH/MYC translocation while 7 (17.5 %) had non-IGH/MYC translocation. Thirty patients (69.7 %) received operation and/or chemotherapy while 13 patients (30.3 %) received no treatment. Twenty-seven patients (62.8 %) died of the tumor, 16 alive, with the average survival time 4.9 and 48.7 months respectively. High IPI, advanced clinical stage, increased serum level of LDH and no chemotherapy received as well as tumor size ≥10 cm were related to the lower survival rates of the tumor. Conclusions Several differences were showed in this group of BL, including a much higher ratio of male patients, more cases in stageII, clinically inconsistent treatment and a very poor outcome. Abstract Background Extraosseous plasmacytoma, so called extramedullary plasmacytoma (EMP) is relatively rare in China. The aim was investigate the clinicopathologic features of EMP and the role of Immunophenotype and genotype detection in diagnosis of EMP. Methods Thirty-two cases of EMP were investigated retrospectively by histopathology, immunophenotype, genotype and survival analysis. Results Clinically, the mean age of the patients was 53.4. Most of the patients received no treatment after the diagnosis was established, and the prognosis was relatively poor. Histologically, in 40% of the cases, the neoplastic cells were grade II or III. The neoplastic cells expressed one or more PC associated antigens. The immunophenotype of EMP and inflammation of sinonasal regions with numerous PC infiltrations were compared and showed some difference in expression of CD45, CD27, CD44v6 and Bcl-2 as well. Ig light chain restriction was detected in 87.5% of the cases. Conclusions we described 32 Chinese cases of EMP, compare with that reported in the literature, some differences are presented, including higher percentage of grade II and III cases, clinically inconsistent treatment and management as well as poor outcome of the disease.

Abstract Background The subtype distribution of lymphoid neoplasms in Southwest China was analyzed according to WHO classifications. This study aims to analyze subtype distribution of lymphomas in southwest China. Methods Lymphoid neoplasms diagnosed within 9 years in a single institution in Southwest China were analyzed according to the WHO classification. Results From January 2000 to December 2008, a total number of 6,382 patients with lymphoma were established, of which mature B-cell neoplasms accounted for 56%, mature T- and NK-cell neoplasms occupied 26%, and precursor lymphoid neoplasms and Hodgkin lymphomas were 5% and 13%, respectively. Mixed cellularity (76%) was the major subtype of classical Hodgkin lymphoma; and the bimodal age distribution was not observed. The top six subtypes of non-Hodgkin lymphoma were as follows: diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type, extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa associated lymphoid tissue, follicular lymphoma, precursor lymphoid neoplasms, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma. Extranodal lymphomas comprised about half of all cases, and most frequently involved Waldeyer's ring, gastrointestinal tract, sinonasal region and skin. Conclusions The lymphoid neoplasms of Southwest China displayed some epidemiologic features similar to those reported in literature from western and Asian countries, as well as other regions of China, whereas some subtypes showed distinct features. The high frequency of mature T/NK cell neoplasms and extranodal lymphomas, especially for extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type, is the most outstanding characteristic of this series.

Abstract Background Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) has been increasingly emphasized in cancer patients. There are no reports comparing baseline HRQOL of different subgroups of glioma patients prior to surgery. Methods HRQOL assessments by the standard Chinese version of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Core Questionnaire 30 (EORTC QLQ-C30, version 3.0), the Mini-Mental State Examination and Karnofsky Performance Status were obtained from glioma patients prior to surgery. Results Ninety-two pathologically confirmed glioma patients were recruited. There were 84.8% patients with emotional impairment, 75% with social and cognitive impairment, 70.7% with physical impairment, and 50% with role impairment. Eighty-two percent of patients reported fatigue symptoms, 72.8% reported pain, 50% reported appetite loss, 39.1% reported insomnia, and 36.9% reported nausea/vomiting, whereas other symptoms (dyspnea, diarrhea, constipation) in the QLQ-C30 were reported by fewer than 30% of patients. Fatigue and pain symptoms and all "functioning" scales were strongly correlated with global health status/quality of life (QoL). Fatigue was strongly related to all functioning scales, pain, appetite loss, and global health status/QoL. No difference in baseline HRQOL prior to surgery was reported between females and males, among different lesion locations, or between normal- and abnormal-cognition subgroups of glioma patients. Age, KPS, WHO grade, and tumor recurrence significantly affected HRQOL in glioma patients. Conclusions These data provided the baseline HRQOL in glioma patients prior to surgery in China. Most pre-surgery glioma patients indicated emotional, social, cognitive, physical, and role impairment. Fatigue, pain, appetite loss, insomnia, and nausea/vomiting were common in these patients. The fatigue and pain symptoms and all types of functioning strongly affected global health status/QoL. Old age, worse performance status, WHO grade IV and tumor recurrence had deleterious effects on HRQOL.

BackgroundPaddy soil dissolved organic matter (DOM) represents a major hotspot for soil biogeochemistry, yet we know little about its chemodiversity let alone the microbial community that shapes it. Here, we leveraged ultrahigh-resolution mass spectrometry, amplicon, and metagenomic sequencing to characterize the molecular distribution of DOM and the taxonomic and functional microbial diversity in paddy soils across China. We hypothesized that variances in microbial community significantly associate with changes in soil DOM molecular composition.ResultsWe report that both microbial and DOM profiles revealed geographic patterns that were associated with variation in mean monthly precipitation, mean annual temperature, and pH. DOM molecular diversity was significantly correlated with microbial taxonomic diversity. An increase in DOM molecules categorized as peptides, carbohydrates, and unsaturated aliphatics, and a decrease in those belonging to polyphenolics and polycyclic aromatics, significantly correlated with proportional changes in some of the microbial taxa, such as Syntrophobacterales, Thermoleophilia, Geobacter, Spirochaeta, Gaiella, and Defluviicoccus. DOM composition was also associated with the relative abundances of the microbial metabolic pathways, such as anaerobic carbon fixation, glycolysis, lignolysis, fermentation, and methanogenesis.ConclusionsOur study demonstrates the continental-scale distribution of DOM is significantly correlated with the taxonomic profile and metabolic potential of the rice paddy microbiome. Abiotic factors that have a distinct effect on community structure can also influence the chemodiversity of DOM and vice versa. Deciphering these associations and the underlying mechanisms can precipitate understanding of the complex ecology of paddy soils, as well as help assess the effects of human activities on biogeochemistry and greenhouse gas emissions in paddy soils.

Low-risk early-stage extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type has a favorable outcome with radiation therapy alone, and the addition of chemotherapy shows no survival benefit. Nonetheless, a proportion of patients will relapse or progress, with a dismal outcome, highlighting the need for a novel therapeutic strategy. Promising preliminary findings indicate the efficacy of PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors in extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type, with good toxicity profiles. Here we describe the design of a phase II study (CLCG-NKT-2101), which is evaluating the safety and efficacy of adding anti-PD-1 antibody to the current radiation therapy regimen in low-risk early-stage extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type patients. Tislelizumab will be added in an inductive and concurrent way to radiation therapy. The primary end point will be the complete response rate after induction immunotherapy.
