Abstract

Abstract Acute gastrointestinal injury (AGI) is common in mechanically ventilated (MV) patients, but the potential association between ventilatory pressure parameters and AGI grade and their impact on mortality remains unclear. This study aimed to explore the association between ventilatory pressure parameters and AGI grade, and their interaction on all-cause mortality in MV patients. This study was a secondary analysis of a multicenter, prospective, observational study that enrolled adult patients with an expected duration of mechanical ventilation ≥ 48 h from 14 general intensive care units in Zhejiang Province between March and August 2014. The AGI grade was assessed daily on the basis of gastrointestinal symptoms, intra-abdominal pressures, and feeding intolerance in the first week of admission to the ICU. This study included 331 patients (69.2% men; mean age, 64.6 ± 18.9 years). Multivariate regression analysis showed that plateau pressure (Pplat) (OR 1.044, 95% CI 1.009–1.081, P = 0.013), serum creatinine (OR 1.003, 95% CI 1.001–1.006, P = 0.042) and APACHE II score (OR 1.035, 95% CI 1.021–1.072, P = 0.045) were independently associated with global AGI grade III/IV within 7 days of ICU admission. Abstract

With the development of AI-Generated Content (AIGC), text-to-audio models are gaining widespread attention. However, it is challenging for these models to generate audio aligned with human preference due to the inherent information density of natural language and limited model understanding ability. To alleviate this issue, we formulate the BATON, a framework designed to enhance the alignment between generated audio and text prompt using human preference feedback. Our BATON comprises three key stages: Firstly, we curated a dataset containing both prompts and the corresponding generated audio, which was then annotated based on human feedback. Secondly, we introduced a reward model using the constructed dataset, which can mimic human preference by assigning rewards to input text-audio pairs. Finally, we employed the reward model to fine-tune an off-the-shelf text-to-audio model. The experiment results demonstrate that our BATON can significantly improve the generation quality of the original text-to-audio models, concerning audio integrity, temporal relationship, and alignment with human preference.

Abstract

Abstract In this report, a novel chemical synthesis of polyaniline/gold nanocomposite is explored using ionic liquid (IL) 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate. The direct chemical synthesis of polyaniline/gold nanocomposite was initiated via the spontaneous oxidation of aniline by AuCl4 −in IL. A nearly uniform dispersion of polyaniline/Au particles with a diameter of 450 ± 80 nm was produced by this method, which indicates that this method is more suitable for controlling particle dimensions. It was also found that the electrical conductivity of the polyaniline/gold nanocomposite was more than 100 times higher than that of the pure polyaniline nanoparticles. The polyaniline/gold nanocomposite displays superior function in the biocatalytic activation of microperoxidase-11 because of the high surface area of the assembly and the enhanced charge transport properties of the composite material. We also report the possible application of polyaniline/gold nanocomposite as a H2O2biosensor.

Abstract

One of the core concepts from the non-Hermitian skin effect is the extended complex wavevectors (CW) in the generalized Brillouin zone (GBZ), while the origin of CW remains elusive, and further experimental demonstration of GBZ is still lacking. We show that the bulk states of an open quantum system dynamically governed by the Lindblad master equation exhibit non-Bloch evolution which results in CW. Experimentally, we present temporal topolectrical circuits to serve as simulators for the dynamics of an open system. By reconstructing the correspondence between the bulk states of an open system and circuit voltage modes through gauge scale potentials in the circuit, the non-Bloch evolution is demonstrated. Facilitated by the simulators and proper approach to characterize the non-Bloch band proposed here, the GBZ is confirmed. Our work may advance the investigation of the dissipative topological modes and provide a versatile platform for exploring the unique evolution and topology for both closed and open systems., Comment: 5 figures

Abstract

Silicon-based light sources including light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and laser diodes (LDs) for information transmission are urgently needed for developing monolithic integrated silicon photonics. Silicon doped by ion implantation with erbium ions (Er$^{3+}$) is considered a promising approach, but suffers from an extremely low quantum efficiency. Here we report an electrically pumped superlinear emission at 1.54 $\mu$m from Er/O-doped silicon planar LEDs, which are produced by applying a new deep cooling process. Stimulated emission at room temperature is realized with a low threshold current of ~6 mA (~0.8 A/cm2). Time-resolved photoluminescence and photocurrent results disclose the complex carrier transfer dynamics from the silicon to Er3+ by relaxing electrons from the indirect conduction band of the silicon. This picture differs from the frequently-assumed energy transfer by electron-hole pair recombination of the silicon host. Moreover, the amplified emission from the LEDs is likely due to a quasi-continuous Er/O-related donor band created by the deep cooling technique. This work paves a way for fabricating superluminescent diodes or efficient LDs at communication wavelengths based on rare-earth doped silicon., Comment: 28 pages, 5 figures
