As a new type of functional and structural material, the porous metal materials have been widely used in the fields of sound absorption, energy absorption, fluid distribution, heat exchange, catalysis, filtration, and separation, which are the most widely used in the field of filtration and separation. Porous metal materials can achieve the liquid−solid and gas−solid filtration separation for the different fluids in the fields of petroleum and petrochemical, fine chemical, coal chemical, and other fields, and the requirements for the materials and mechanical properties of the porous metal materials used in the different fields are also different. The preparation process of porous metal materials used for filtration is relatively mature, but there is little investigation on the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of the porous metal materials, which will directly affect the use effect and life of such materials. The research progress on the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the porous metal materials used for filtration in recent years was briefly reviewed in this paper, and the existing problems in the corrosion and mechanical behavior of such materials were discussed. Finally, the research direction of the porous metal materials used for filtration was prospected.

The fundamental biological characteristics of tumor cells are characterized by irregularities in signaling and metabolic pathways, which are evident through increased glucose uptake, altered mitochondrial function, and the ability to evade growth signals. Interventions such as fasting or fasting-mimicking diets represent a promising strategy that can elicit distinct responses in normal cells compared to tumor cells. These dietary strategies can alter the circulating levels of various hormones and metabolites, including blood glucose, insulin, glucagon, growth hormone, insulin-like growth factor, glucocorticoids, and epinephrine, thereby potentially exerting an anticancer effect. Additionally, elevated levels of insulin-like growth factor-binding proteins and ketone bodies may increase tumor cells' dependence on their own metabolites, ultimately leading to their apoptosis. The combination of fasting or fasting-mimicking diets with radiotherapy or chemotherapeutic agents has demonstrated enhanced anticancer efficacy. This paper aims to classify fasting, elucidate the mechanisms that underlie its effects, assess its impact on various cancer types, and discuss its clinical applications. We will underscore the differential effects of fasting on normal and cancer cells, the mechanisms responsible for these effects, and the imperative for clinical implementation. Aim: This study aimed to analyze the clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients with primary dumbbell chordoma of the cervical spine and to summarize the causes of misdiagnosis. Methods: The clinical data of patients were retrospectively collected. The diagnostic process, surgical procedures, and outcomes were analyzed, then the difference was compared between dumbbell and non‐dumbbell chordomas of the cervical spine. Results: This study included six patients with primary dumbbell chordoma (one male and five females) with a mean age of 32.2 ± 24.5 years (range: 5–61 years). Five cases with no computed tomography (CT) examination before the first operation were misdiagnosed, and on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), primary dumbbell chordoma showed the following specific features: extensive invasion of the surrounding soft tissues with an obscure boundary (≥5 cm), intervertebral disc sparing, and hemorrhagic necrosis, furthermore, the CT features included atypical destructive vertebral lesions, minimal intralesional calcification, and neural foraminal enlargement. After comparison with non‐dumbbell chordomas, it show statistical difference (p < 0.05) in terms of calcification, foramen enlargement, FNA, misdiagnosis rate but with different recurrent rate. Conclusion: Primary dumbbell chordomas of the cervical spine can easily be misdiagnosed as neurogenic tumors. Preoperative CT‐guided fine‐needle aspiration puncture biopsy helps make an accurate diagnosis. Gross total excision with postoperative radiotherapy has been proven effective in reducing the recurrence rate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the past few decades, scaffolds manufactured from composite or hybrid biomaterials of natural or synthetic origin have made great strides in enhancing wound healing and repairing fractures and pathological bone loss. However, the prevailing use of such scaffolds in tissue engineering is accompanied by numerous constraints, including low mechanical stability, poor biological activity, and impaired cell proliferation and differentiation. The performance of scaffolds in wound and bone tissue engineering may be enhanced by some modifications in the synthesis of nanoscale metal–organic framework (nano-MOF) scaffolds. Nano-MOFs have attracted researchers' attention in recent years due to their distinctive features, which include tenability, biocompatibility, good mechanical stability, and ultrahigh surface area. The biological properties of scaffolds are enhanced and tissue regeneration is facilitated by the introduction of nano-MOFs. Moreover, the physicochemical characteristics, drug loading, and ion release capacities of the scaffolds are improved by the nanoscale structure and topological features of nano-MOFs, which also control stem cell differentiation, proliferation, and attachment. This review provides further comprehensive detail about the most recent uses of nano-MOFs in tissue engineering. The distinct characteristics of nano-MOFs are explored in enhancing tissue repair, wound healing, osteoinduction, and bone conductivity. Significant attributes include high antibacterial activity, substantial drug-loading capacity, and the ability to regulate drug release. Finally, this discussion addresses the obstacles, clinical impediments, and considerations encountered in the application of these nanomaterials to diverse scaffolds, tissue-mimicking structures, dressings, fillers, and implants for bone tissue repair and wound healing.
