8. Sorting OAM modes with metasurfaces based on raytracing improved optical coordinate transformation

Abstract

Optical coordinate transformation (OCT) has attracted widespread attention in the field of orbital angular momentum (OAM) (de)multiplexing or manipulation, but the performance of OCT would suffer from its distortion. In this paper, we quantitatively analyze the distortion of OCT from the perspective of ray optics, and explain its rationality to work under non-normal incident light. For the special case of log-polar coordinate transformation (LPCT), we use a raytracing assisted optimization scheme to improve its distortion, which is related to a Zernike polynomial based phase compensation. After raytracing optimization, the root mean square error (RMSE) of the focused rays is reduced to 1/5 of the original value and the physical optic simulation also shows great improvement. In the experiment, we use three phase masks which are realized by metasurfaces, the measured results show well consistency with the simulation. Abstract

Daisy (Data Analysis Integrated Software System) has been designed for the analysis and visualization of the X-ray experiments. To address an extensive range of Chinese radiation facilities community's requirements from purely algorithmic problems to scientific computing infrastructure, Daisy sets up a cloud-native platform to support on-site data analysis services with fast feedback and interaction. The plugs-in based application is convenient to process the expected high throughput data flow in parallel at next-generation facilities such as the High Energy Photon Source (HEPS). The objectives, functionality and architecture of Daisy are described in this article.

Abstract

With the development of Semantic Web, entity summarization has become an emerging task to generate concrete summaries for real world entities. To solve this problem, we propose an approach named MPSUM that extends a probabilistic topic model by integrating the idea of predicate-uniqueness and object-importance for ranking triples. The approach aims at generating brief but representative summaries for entities. We compare our approach with the state-of-the-art methods using DBpedia and LinkedMDB datasets.The experimental results show that our work improves the quality of entity summarization., Comment: 6 pages, accepted in EYRE@CIKM'2018

35. Histone demethylase KDM4A mediating macrophage polarization: A potential mechanism of trichloroethylene induced liver injury.

Abstract

Trichloroethylene (TCE) is a commonly used organic solvent in industry. Our previous studies have found that TCE can cause liver injury accompanied by macrophage polarization, but the specific mechanism is unclear. The epigenetic regulation of macrophage polarization is mainly focused on histone modification. Histone lysine demethylase 4A (KDM4A) is involved in the activation of macrophages. In this study, we used a mouse model we investigated the role of KDM4A in the livers of TCE‐drinking mice and found that the expression of KDM4A, M1‐type polarization indicators, and related inflammatory factors in the livers of TCE‐drinking mice. In the study, BALB/c mice were randomly divided into four groups: 2.5 mg/mL TCE dose group and 5.0 mg/mL TCE dose group, the vehicle control group, and the blank control group. We found that TCE triggered M1 polarization of mouse macrophages, characterized by the expression of CD11c and robust production of inflammatory cytokines. Notably, exposure to TCE resulted in markedly increased expression of KDM4A in macrophages. Functionally, the increased expression of KDM4A significantly impaired the expression of H3K9me3 and H3K9me2 and increased the expression of H3K9me1. In addition, KDM4A potentially represents a novel epigenetic modulator, with its upregulation connected to β‐catenin activation, a signal critical for the pro‐inflammatory activation of macrophages. Furthermore, KDM4A inhibitor JIB‐04 treatment resulted in a decrease in β‐catenin expression and prevented TCE‐induced M1 polarization and the expression of the pro‐inflammatory cytokines TNF‐α and IL‐1β. These results suggest that the association of KDM4A and Wnt/β‐catenin cooperatively establishes the activation and polarization of macrophages and global changes in H3K9me3/me2/me1. Our findings identify KDM4A as an essential regulator of the polarization of macrophages and the expression of inflammatory cytokines, which might serve as a potential target for preventing and treating liver injury caused by TCE. Abstract

Electric heating serves as a major cold-proof measure because engineering equipment often loses efficacy in harsh weather conditions in a polar environment. Because Convective heat transfer is the key issue to solve the cold-proof design, this paper analyzes convective heat transfer of tube and plate in the constant heat flow heating mode. According to fluent numerical simulation analysis with a wind speed of 0–40 m/s and a temperature of −40°C–0°C, both an increase in wind speed and a decrease in temperature would cause the growth of the convective heat transfer coefficient of circular tubes and flat plates, Wind speed displayed a more significant impact on convective heat transfer. In a low-temperature laboratory, a model experiment of convective heat transfer was carried out to validate the reliability of the numerical simulation. Last, a prediction model for convective heat transfer coefficient of circular tubes and flat plates in polar environment was developed using numerical and experimental data.

48. Dual channel sales in supply chain: live streaming or traditional e-commerce

Abstract

In recent years, live streaming is becoming a popular channel to sell products all over the world. Compared to traditional e-commerce channel, live streaming channel may not only bring consumers more shopping convenience, but also pose consumers more privacy concern. This paper considers a supply chain consisting of a manufacturer and an e-tailer who sells through dual channels (i.e., live streaming and traditional e-commerce) to explore how shopping convenience and privacy concern affect the optimal decisions. We build game models of two pricing (exogenous and endogenous) and two incentive contracts (wholesale price and two-part tariff). We find that the optimal promotion efforts are decreasing in shopping convenience while increasing in privacy concerns under the wholesale price contract, and independent of them under the two-part tariff contract when pricing is not a decision (such as iPhone); the optimal promotion efforts are increasing in shopping convenience while decreasing in privacy concern when pricing is a decision (such as the seasonal products). Whether the retail pricing is a decision or not, supply chain coordination can be achieved by the two-part tariff contract, but not through the wholesale price contract. Further, the two-part tariff contract is more favorable to the manufacturer if the exogenously given retail price is low, and the wholesale price contract is more favorable to the manufacturer if the retail price is high; the two-part tariff contract is always more beneficial for the supply chain than the wholesale price contract. Finally, we extend our analysis to relax a more realistic form with a variable effort elasticity and verify the robustness of the theoretical results.
