The coating endows superwetting, biocompatibility, ionic conductivity and many other advanced functions of gel materials to traditional solids. Recently, many novel strategies for making gel coatings have emerged, targeting environmental adaptability, eco- and user-friendly demands, etc. In this review, we first summarize different types of interfacial interactions between gels and substrates. Then, general principles are discussed for preparing gel coatings on diverse solids with robust adhesion. Various practical attributes, such as oxygen tolerance and universal adhesion strategies are highlighted. Some promising applications of hydrogel and organogel coatings are mentioned. In the end, the current challenges and outlook of gel coating technology are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

It is widely accepted that associative recognition can be supported by familiarity through integrating more than two stimuli into a unit, but there are still three unsolved questions: (1) how unitization affects recollection-based associative recognition; (2) whether it is necessary to match the level of unitization (LOU) between original and rearranged pairs, which was term as unitization-congruence (UC); (3) whether unitization can occur at encoding or at retrieval. The purposes of this study are to try to answer these questions. During the encoding phase, the participants were asked to learn compound words and unrelated word pairs, and during the retrieval phase, they needed to distinguish intact pairs from rearranged consistent and rearranged inconsistent pairs with "remember/know" paradigm. The results showed that (1) the role of unitization in recollection was moderated by UC; (2) Under the consistent UC condition, unitization could improve familiarity-based associative recognition without affecting recollection-based associative recognition, while under the inconsistent UC condition, unitization could improve familiarity-based and recollection-based associative recognition simultaneously, these results indicated that it was necessary to match the LOU between original and rearranged pairs; (3) unitization at encoding could support familiarity-based associative recognition, while unitization at retrieval did not. In briefly, unitization at encoding could improve associative recognition and this effect was moderated by UC, while unitization at retrieval did not affect associative recognition.

Abstract Background Sufficient low temperature accumulation is the key strategy to break bud dormancy and promote subsequent flowering in tree peony anti-season culturing production. Exogenous gibberellins (GAs) could partially replace chilling to accelerate dormancy release, and different kinds of GAs showed inconsistent effects in various plants. To understand the effects of exogenous GA3 and GA4 on dormancy release and subsequent growth, the morphological changes were observed after exogenous GAs applications, the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified, and the contents of endogenous phytohormones, starch and sugar were measured, respectively. Results Morphological observation and photosynthesis measurements indicated that both GA3 and GA4 applications accelerated bud dormancy release, but GA3 feeding induced faster bud burst, higher shoot and more flowers per plant. Full-length transcriptome of dormant bud was used as the reference genome. Totally 124 110 459, 124 015 148 and 126 239 836 reads by illumina transcriptome sequencing were obtained in mock, GA3 and GA4 groups, respectively. Compared with the mock, there were 879 DEGs and 2 595 DEGs in GA3 and GA4 group, 1 179 DEGs in GA3 vs GA4, and 849 DEGs were common in these comparison groups. The significant enrichment KEGG pathways of 849 DEGs highlighted plant hormone signal transduction, starch and sucrose metabolism, cell cycle, DNA replication, etc. Interestingly, the contents of endogenous GA1, GA3, GA4, GA7 and IAA significantly increased, ABA decreased after GA3 and GA4 treatments by LC–MS/MS. Additionally, the soluble glucose, fructose and trehalose increased after exogenous GAs applications. Compared to GA4 treatment, GA3 induced higher GA1, GA3 and IAA level, more starch degradation to generate more monosaccharide for use, and promoted cell cycle and photosynthesis. Higher expression levels of dormancy-related genes, TFL, FT, EBB1, EBB3 and CYCD, and lower of SVP by GA3 treatment implied more efficiency of GA3. Conclusions Exogenous GA3 and GA4 significantly accelerated bud dormancy release and subsequent growth by increasing the contents of endogenous bioactive GAs, IAA, and soluble glucose such as fructose and trehalose, and accelerated cell cycle process, accompanied by decreasing ABA contents. GA3 was superior to GA4 in tree peony forcing culture, which might because tree peony was more sensitive to GA3 than GA4, and GA3 had a more effective ability to induce cell division and starch hydrolysis. These results provided the value data for understanding the mechanism of dormancy release in tree peony.

Past research showed that emotional contexts can impair recognition memory for the target item. Given that item‐context congruity may enhance recognition memory, the present study aims to examine the effect of the congruent emotional encoding contexts on recognition memory. Participants studied congruent word‐picture pairs (e.g., the word "cow" – a picture describing a cow) and incongruent word‐picture pairs (e.g., the word "cow" – a picture describing a goat) and, subsequently, were asked to report the nature of the picture (emotional or neutral). Behavioral results revealed that emotional contexts impaired source but not item recognition, with congruent word‐context mitigating this impairment and enhancing item recognition. Neural results from ERPs and theta oscillations found the recollection process, as shown by the LPC old/new effect and theta oscillations, for both item and source recognition across emotional contexts, irrespective of congruity. Meanwhile, the familiarity process as indexed by the FN400 old/new effect was found only for item recognition in congruent emotional contexts. These findings suggest that the congruent relationship of item‐context could mitigate the emotion‐induced source memory impairment and enhance item memory, with neural results elucidating the memory processes involved in retrieval of emotional information. Specifically, while emotion‐related information generally elicits the recollection‐based memory process, only congruent emotional information elicits the familiarity‐based process. Focusing on the semantically congruent connection between emotional context and item, the current study aims to investigate how it affects two types of recognition memory and their underlying neural substrates. The results showed that there were similar neural substrates between item memory and source memory, but significantly different effects of congruent emotional contexts on item memory and source memory performance were observed. Using severe accident analysis program MELCOR, the small break loss of coolant accident (SBLOCA) analysis model was established for a marine reactor. The release and migration of radionuclides were analyzed during a severe accident induced by SBLOCA. The analysis of the hydrogen source term release showed that the maximum hydrogen release amount was 248.567 kg, and the hydrogen release amount accounted for less than 4% of the air volume. So, there would be no danger of hydrogen explosion accidents. The research mainly focused on the behaviors of the release, the transport, the retention, and the final distribution of inert gases represented by Xe, volatile gases represented by CsI, and nonvolatile nuclides represented by Ba. The results showed that the reactor core exposed completely with a lagging by 510 s and the initial release time of nuclides was lagged by 1916 s. The release shares of Xe in the primary circuit system, the containment, and the environment were 0.013%, 0.06%, and 32.71%, respectively. Also, Ba shared 0.016%, 0.0032%, and 3.28%, respectively, and CsI shared 0.0145%, 0.0012%, and 2.845%, respectively.
