Abstract

In this paper, we briefly summarize the first competition on resource-limited infrared small target detection (namely, LimitIRSTD). This competition has two tracks, including weakly-supervised infrared small target detection (Track 1) and lightweight infrared small target detection (Track 2). 46 and 60 teams successfully registered and took part in Tracks 1 and Track 2, respectively. The top-performing methods and their results in each track are described with details. This competition inspires the community to explore the tough problems in the application of infrared small target detection, and ultimately promote the deployment of this technology under limited resource.

Abstract

Selenium-functionalized starch (Se-starch80) is one of the main functional foods used for selenium supplementation. In traditional agriculture, Se-starch has some deficiencies such as long growth cycle and unstable selenium content that prevent its antioxidant performance. In this study, Se-starch was prepared by the nucleophilic addition between NaSeH and carbon-carbon double bond of octenyl succinic anhydride waxy corn starch ester (OSA starch). Some techniques such as 1HNMR, XPS, SEM-EDS, XRD and FT-IR were used to characterize the relevant samples and the results showed that the modification did not destroy the starch framework significantly and the catalytic center (negative divalent selenium) was anchored on the starch framework. The intensive distribution of catalytic center on the starch surface and the hydrophobic microenvironments derived from the OSA chains furnished the Se-starch80 with a high GPx-like catalytic activity (initial reaction rate = 3.64 μM/min). This value was about 1.5 × 105 times higher than that of a typical small-molecule GPx mimic (PhSeSePh). In addition, the Se-starch80, without any cytotoxicity, showed a saturated kinetic catalytic behavior that is similar to a typical enzyme. This work exemplifies a biodegradable selenium-functionalized polymer platform for the high-performing GPx mimic.

Abstract

In plants, excess selenium causes general toxic symptoms. However, salicylic acid plays an important role in alleviating toxic effects of various stresses. This study aimed to clarify the role of exogenous foliar salicylic acid on alleviating selenium toxicity of pak choi exposed to moderately and highly Se-excessive soils (4 mg·kg−1 Se and 10 mg·kg−1 Se, respectively). The results showed that Se stress caused severe lipid peroxidation, desynchronization of the antioxidant enzymatic system, and significant decreases in the measures of photosynthetic activity and shoot biomass. Under Se stress conditions, exogenous foliar salicylic acid significantly increased measures of photosynthetic activity and shoot biomass, increased catalase activity, and decreased measures of oxidative stress. Moreover, exogenous salicylic acid significantly enhanced Se accumulation in shoots under Se stress conditions. We demonstrate here that foliar spraying with salicylic acid is an effective measure to alleviate the adverse effects of Se stress and enhance Se accumulation for optimizing crop Se biofortification in Se-excessive soil.

Abstract

Guangxi is the largest sugar producing area in China and shoulders heavy responsibilities for the development of China���s sugar industry. In recent years, China���s sugar industry has been greatly impacted by the foreign low-cost sugar industry, and the planting area of ������sugarcane has been declining. The development foundation of the sugar industry is the sugarcane seed industry. Under the impact of foreign low-price sugar, China���s sugarcane industry is under greater pressure for development, and the sugarcane seed industry shoulders more arduous responsibilities. In order to cope with international competition, the development of Guangxi's sugarcane industry urgently needs to establish a development model oriented towards improved varieties, scale and mechanization of sugarcane, so as to promote the high-quality development of Guangxi's sugarcane industry and effectively respond to the pressure of competition in the international sugarcane industry.

Abstract

This paper takes the rural areas of China as the research object, analyzes the current situation of the development of rural talents, discusses the problems existing in the development of rural human resources, and puts forward effective measures for the revitalization of rural talents, to provide a solid theoretical basis for the better development of the countryside.
