Cardiopulmonary diseases, including cardiovascular disease (CVD) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD), are prevalent in the elderly population. Early identification, long-term health monitoring, and health management of cardiopulmonary disease are crucial for reversing organ damage and preventing further injury. However, most home health monitoring (HHM) devices need to be paired with a specific smartphone application, which leads to the complexity of monitoring multiple health indicators and hinders the feasibility of comprehensive multi-indicator analysis. Therefore, this paper designed a human cardiopulmonary health monitoring system based on an intelligent gateway to reduce the dependence of HHM on smartphones, achieve synchronous monitoring of multiple health indicators, and improve usability to better serve the elderly population. The proposed system can simultaneously monitor electrocardiogram (ECG), pulmonary function, blood pressure, and blood oxygen level (SpO2); process and analyze the data in real-time through the intelligent gateway’s edge computing power; and display the cardiopulmonary health status in real-time. The intelligent gateway embedded a specially designed CNN-LSTM artificial intelligence model on the STM32F429 microcontroller to realize real-time identification of ECG signals at the edge. The accuracy of the pretrained CNN-LSTM model for ECG signal identification is 99.49%, and the model has good performance in terms of complexity and RAM space occupied. According to the evaluation test, the system can achieve the purpose of monitoring human cardiopulmonary health, has a wide range of application scenarios, and has great value in promotion and application.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in various biological regulatory processes in which complicated mechanisms are involved, as well as stress-responsive regulation. However, the number, characteristics, sequences and possible effects of lncRNAs in sesame response to salt stress are poorly understood. In this study, a total of 2482 lncRNAs were identified from two contrasting sesame genotypes under salt stress using high-throughput RNA sequencing, of which 599 were intergenic lncRNAs, 293 were antisense lncRNAs and 786 lncRNAs may encode proteins. Expression pattern analysis showed that most lncRNAs were expressed at a low level and a total of 700 differentially expressed lncRNAs were characterized as salt responsive in sesame. A large number of potential target genes of lncRNAs were predicted, and functional annotation analysis indicated that the differentially expressed lncRNAs in salt stress may regulate protein-coding genes involved in several important pathways related to glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, flavonoid biosynthesis, monoterpenoid biosynthesis, biotin metabolism, galactose metabolism, cyanoamino acid metabolism and carotenoid biosynthesis. Integrated analysis of lncRNAs and mRNAs revealed the regulatory role of lncRNAs associated with salt resistance in sesame, and provided convincing proof of the interplay of specific candidate target genes with lncRNAs. Our results indicated that a comprehensive set of lncRNAs with potential target genes were responsive to salt stress in sesame seedlings. These findings provided important information on salinity responses and adaptation of sesame to salt stress and may constitute useful resources for more comprehensive studies on gene regulation in sesame.

Objective To summarize the clinical treatment experience of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) infection after renal transplantation in donation after cardiac death (DCD) era. Methods Clinical data of 10 donors and 17 recipients with CRKP infection after DCD renal transplantation from January 2015 to January 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. Both donors and recipients received bacterial culture and drug sensitivity test. Clinical manifestations, treatment and outcome of CRKP-infected recipients were recorded. Results Seven donors were infected with CRKP. After pretreatment, CRKP in 2 cases turned negative, CRKP in 5 donors did not turn negative. All renal grafts were treated with tigecycline+meropenem+voriconazole lavage to prevent infection. Among 17 recipients with CRKP infection, 11 cases were positive for blood culture, 10 positive for urine culture, 3 positive for sputum culture, 3 positive for incisional secretion and 3 positive for retroperitoneal drainage. Clinical manifestations included fever in 8 cases, rupture and hemorrhage of the transplant renal artery in 7 cases or thrombosis in the transplant renal artery in 1 case, bladder irritation sign in 3 cases and cough with brick red jelly-like sputum in 1 case, respectively. Five patients were treated with tigecycline+meropenem, 1 patient suffered from renal graft loss and 4 recipients died. Twelve patients were treated with ceftazidime-avibactam +meropenem, 3 patients presented with renal graft loss and 1 recipient died. Conclusions CRKP-infected donor is not the absolute contraindication of renal transplantation. Pretreatment of donor infection and early administration of sufficient sensitive antibiotics can cure CRKP infection and improve the clinical prognosis of renal transplant recipients.
