33. Effect of Simulation Oral Processing on the Bolus and Starch Digestibility of Whole Wheat Crispbread.

Abstract

In order to explore the effects of different simulated oral processing methods and different α-amylase additions on the bolus characteristics and in vitro starch digestion, ready-to-eat whole wheat crispbreads were used as an experiment. The effects of cutting and mixed artificial saliva (CA), cutting with blending and mixed artificial saliva (CBA), cutting with grinding and mixed artificial saliva (CGA) and different α-amylase contents in artificial saliva on the bolus characteristics and in vitro starch digestibility of whole wheat crispbreads after chewing were studied. Using human oral chewing method (HM) as a control, principal component analysis was applied to screen for in vitro simulated starch digestion suitable for crisp products. The results showed that the hardness (17.44~32.99 N), adhesiveness (122.29~317.30 g⋅s) of the bolus of CBA and CGA treatments were lower than HM treatment. While the particle size of the bolus was higher in SSF group (105.08~273.89 µm, 290.02~801.69 µm) than human chewing (315.19 µm, 764.08 µm), but the particle size tended to decrease with the increase of α-amylase addition. The final starch hydrolysis rates of CBA, CGA and HM treatments were significantly higher than CA treatment, with CBA treatment fitting more closely to HM treatment. Both mechanical damage and salivary α-amylase content affected bolus characteristics and the starch digestion kinetics. In addition, the SSFH group of CBA treatment was shown to be used as a pretreatment in simulating starch digestion in crisp foods based on principal component analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

45. Efficient organic–inorganic heterojunction structure for enhancing the photocatalytic activity of SubPc/Ti3C2Tx towards hydrogen production.

Abstract

The production of hydrogen fuel by solar-driven photocatalytic water splitting is an attractive solution to overcome the environmental and energy problems with traditional fossil fuels. The strategies to improve the capacity of photocatalytic hydrogen production include enhancing the light absorption of materials and using co-catalysts to reduce the efficiency of electron–hole recombination. Here, we report a Schottky heterojunction photocatalyst composed of subphthalocyanine (SubPc) and Ti3C2Tx MXene, which can effectively separate photogenerated charges. The outstanding ability of SubPc to absorb visible light and the ability of Ti3C2Tx MXene to capture photogenerated electrons were applied to improve the photocatalytic hydrogen-production performance of the SubPc/Ti3C2Tx composite. Two types of SubPcs (SubPc-Cl and SubPc-OPh) were hybridized with Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets. The hydrogen evolution of SubPc/Ti3C2Tx with different mass ratios was experimentally investigated, and it was found that the optimized SubPc-Cl/Ti3C2Tx exhibited the best H2-production rate of 105 μmol g−1 h−1. 46. Ultra-compact dual-channel integrated CO2 infrared gas sensor.

Abstract

Expiratory CO2 concentrations can directly reflect human physiological conditions, and their detection is highly important in the treatment and rehabilitation of critically ill patients. Existing respiratory gas analyzers suffer from large sizes and high power consumption due to the limitations of the internal CO2 sensors, which prevent them from being wearable to track active people. The internal and external interference and sensitivity limitations must be overcome to realize wearable respiratory monitoring applications for CO2 sensors. In this work, an ultra-compact CO2 sensor was developed by integrating a microelectromechanical system emitter and thermopile detectors with an optical gas chamber; the power consumption of the light source and ambient temperature of the thermally sensitive devices were reduced by heat transfer control; the time to reach stabilization of the sensor was shortened; the humidity resistance of the sensor was improved by a dual-channel design; the light loss of the sensor was compensated by improving the optical coupling efficiency, which was combined with the amplitude trimming network to equivalently improve the sensitivity of the sensor. The minimum size of the developed sensor was 12 mm × 6 mm × 4 mm, and the reading error was <4% of the reading from −20 °C to 50 °C. The minimum power consumption of the sensor was ~33 mW, and the response time and recovery time were 10 s (@1 Hz), and the sensor had good humidity resistance, stability, and repeatability. 47. Deadman Behavior and Slag–Iron–Coke Interaction of Low Carbon and Safety Blast Furnace: A Review.

Abstract

The elucidation of the deadman's behavior and the interaction between slag–iron–coke within the blast furnace hearth are essential for the realization of low‐carbon and safe production. In this review, the macrostate of the deadman, the interactions between slag–iron–coke, carburizing behaviors, and renewal mechanisms are comprehensively examined. First, the formation and state of the deadman, voidage, and the distribution of coke sizes within the blast furnace hearth are characterized. The average coke particle size ranges from 20 to 30 mm, and the deadman void fraction of 30–50%. Second, the interaction between slag–iron–coke as well as the occurrence state of the mineral layer at the interface within the deadman is elucidated. The ash composition and content of coke are the key factors affecting the slag–iron–coke interaction and interface phase composition. Third, the influence exerted by critical factors such as the physical properties of the carbon source, molten iron, and temperature on the carburizing behavior are analyzed, with the renewal mechanisms of the deadman also being disclosed. Finally, three future focal areas are proposed: characterization and intelligent monitoring of deadman permeability, analysis of slag–iron–coke properties and interface mineral layers control, and in‐depth analysis of deadman renewal and carbon carburization in molten iron. It is anticipated that the studies will enhance the comprehension of deadman behavior and the interactions between slag–iron–coke, thereby fostering the blast furnace's sustainable development.
