Abstract

In an attempt to solve the uncontrollable water absorption of a superabsorbent polymer (SAP), microcapsules (MPCP), with calcium alginate and paraffin powder as the main raw materials, were prepared. The structure and water absorption properties of the MPCP was characterised and its influence on the shrinkage performance of a cement mortar was studied. The shrinkage-reducing mechanism of the MPCP was analysed through the heat of cement hydration, pore structure and relative humidity (RH) of the cement mortar. The results show that the MPCP particles are based on a calcium alginate network skeleton structure with a paraffin wax filling the round particles in the skeleton cracks, where its content determines the water absorption of the MPCP. The MPCP exhibited a good internal curing effect. The internal RH of the mortar containing the pre-absorbed MPCP basically changed as much as that containing the pre-absorbed SAP. The shrinkage of the MPCP-containing mortar reduced by more than 8% compared with the SAP-containing mortar after 7 days. The reason was that the MPCP absorbed the heat of the cement hydration and reduced the shrinkage caused by the excessive heat of the early cement hydration. In addition, because the water absorption of the MPCP is controllable, the MPCP exhibits little effect on the pore structure of cement-based materials. Therefore, the compressive strength of the cement mortar with the pre-absorbed MPCP content is 39 times that of the pre-absorbed SAP, which was only 2.3 MPa lower than that of the corresponding SAP-containing cement mortar.

33. LnIII/CuIBimetallic Nanoclusters with Enhanced NIR-II Luminescence

Abstract

Coinage-metal clusters with excellent luminescence properties have attracted considerable interest due to their intriguing structures and potential applications. However, achieving strong near-infrared (NIR) luminescence in these clusters is highly challenging. Here, we have successfully synthesized the first LnIII/CuIbimetallic clusters, formulated as [LnCu54O6Cl3(2-MeO-PhC≡C)36] (ClO4)6(Ln = Yb for YbCu54, Er for ErCu54, and Gd for GdCu54). Single crystal X-ray diffraction showed that the LnCu54clusters have a three-layered core–shell structure, consisting of (LnO6)@Cu18Cl3@Cu36units protected by 36 2-MeO-PhC≡C–ligands. Notably, the YbCu54cluster exhibits significant NIR-II luminescence at 986 nm with the solid quantum efficiency of 33.3%, the highest among Cu clusters with NIR-II emission. This work not only reports the first category of LnIII/CuIclusters but also presents a method to enhance NIR luminescence in coinage-metal clusters through the incorporation of LnIIIions.

Abstract

In today's digital age, the e-commerce industry continues to grow and flourish. The widespread application of computer vision technology has brought revolutionary changes to e-commerce platforms. Extracting image features from e-commerce platforms using deep learning techniques is of paramount importance for predicting product sales. Deep learning-based computer vision models can automatically learn image features without the need for manual feature extractors. By employing deep learning techniques, key features such as color, shape, and texture can be effectively extracted from product images, providing more representative and diverse data for sales prediction models. This study proposes the use of ResNet-101 as an image feature extractor, enabling the automatic learning of rich visual features to provide high-quality image representations for subsequent analysis. Furthermore, a bidirectional attention mechanism is introduced to dynamically capture correlations between different modalities, facilitating the fusion of multimodal features.

Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) is an extensive system of interrelated devices equipped with sensors to monitor and track real world objects, spanning several verticals, covering many different industries. The IoT's promise is capturing interest as its value in healthcare continues to grow, as it can overlay on top of challenges dealing with the rising burden of chronic disease management and an aging population. To address difficulties associated with IoT-enabled healthcare, we propose a secure routing protocol that combines a fuzzy logic system and the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) hierarchically. The suggested method consists of two primary approaches: the fuzzy trust strategy and the WOA-inspired clustering methodology. The first methodology plays a critical role in determining the trustworthiness of connected IoT equipment. Furthermore, a WOA-based clustering framework is implemented. A fitness function assesses the likelihood of IoT devices acting as cluster heads. This formula considers factors such as centrality, range of communication, hop count, remaining energy, and trustworthiness. Compared with other algorithms, the proposed method outperformed them in terms of network lifespan, energy usage, and packet delivery ratio by 47%, 58%, and 17.7%, respectively. Abstract

Summary: Ectomycorrhizal symbiosis, which involves mutually beneficial interactions between soil fungi and tree roots, is essential for promoting tree growth. To establish this symbiotic relationship, fungal symbionts must initiate and sustain mutualistic interactions with host plants while avoiding host defense responses. This study investigated the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated by fungal NADPH oxidase (Nox) in the development of Laccaria bicolor/Populus tremula × alba symbiosis.Our findings revealed that L. bicolor LbNox expression was significantly higher in ectomycorrhizal roots than in free‐living mycelia. RNAi was used to silence LbNox, which resulted in decreased ROS signaling, limited formation of the Hartig net, and a lower mycorrhizal formation rate.Using Y2H library screening, BiFC and Co‐IP, we demonstrated an interaction between the mitogen‐activated protein kinase LbSakA and LbNoxR. LbSakA‐mediated phosphorylation of LbNoxR at T409, T477 and T480 positively modulates LbNox activity, ROS accumulation and upregulation of symbiosis‐related genes involved in dampening host defense reactions.These results demonstrate that regulation of fungal ROS metabolism is critical for maintaining the mutualistic interaction between L. bicolor and P. tremula × alba. Our findings also highlight a novel and complex regulatory mechanism governing the development of symbiosis, involving both transcriptional and posttranslational regulation of gene networks. Let $\mathbf{X}_1,...,\mathbf{X}_n$ be a random sample from a $p$-dimensional population distribution. Assume that $c_1n^{\alpha}\leq p\leq c_2n^{\alpha}$ for some positive constants $c_1,c_2$ and $\alpha$. In this paper we introduce a new statistic for testing independence of the $p$-variates of the population and prove that the limiting distribution is the extreme distribution of type I with a rate of convergence $O((\log n)^{5/2}/\sqrt{n})$. This is much faster than $O(1/\log n)$, a typical convergence rate for this type of extreme distribution. Abstract

Effective screening and early detection are critical to improve the prognosis of gastric cancer (GC). Our study aims to explore noninvasive multianalytical biomarkers and construct integrative models for preliminary risk assessment and GC detection. Whole genomewide methylation marker discovery was conducted with CpG tandems target amplification (CTTA) in cfDNA from large asymptomatic screening participants in a high‐risk area of GC. The methylation and mutation candidates were validated simultaneously using one plasma from patients at various gastric lesion stages by multiplex profiling with Mutation Capsule Plus (MCP). Helicobacter pylori specific antibodies were detected with a recomLine assay. Integrated models were constructed and validated by the combination of multianalytical biomarkers. A total of 146 and 120 novel methylation markers were found in CpG islands and promoter regions across the genome with CTTA. The methylation markers together with the candidate mutations were validated with MCP and used to establish a 133‐methylation‐marker panel for risk assessment of suspicious precancerous lesions and GC cases and a 49‐methylation‐marker panel as well as a 144‐amplicon‐mutation panel for GC detection. An integrated model comprising both methylation and specific antibody panels performed better for risk assessment than a traditional model (AUC, 0.83 and 0.63, P <.001). A second model for GC detection integrating methylation and mutation panels also outperformed the traditional model (AUC, 0.82 and 0.68, P =.005). Our study established methylation, mutation and H. pylori‐specific antibody panels and constructed two integrated models for risk assessment and GC screening.
