In this short note, we offer an observation that the Miyaoka-Yau inequality holds for any compact K\"{a}hler manifold with nef canonical bundle, i.e. a smooth minimal model. Abstract

We consider constant scalar curvature K\"{a}hler metrics on a smooth minimal model of general type in a neighborhood of the canonical class, which is the perturbation of the canonical class by a fixed K\"{a}hler metric. We show that sequences of such metrics converge smoothly on compact subsets away from a subvariety to the singular K\"{a}hler Einstein metric in the canonical class. This confirms partially a conjecture of Jian-Shi-Song about the convergence behavior of such sequences., Comment: 23 pages; minor corrections

14. Ball-milling Synthesis of Tetrahydroquinolines via‘One-pot’ Three-component Diels-Alder Reaction Catalyzed by Phosphotungstic Acid

Abstract

We reported an economic and practical ball-milling method for the synthesis of tetrahydroquinoline derivatives viaa ‘one-pot’ three-component Diels-Alder reaction of anilines, aldehydes and alkenes catalyzed by phosphotungstic acid at room temperature. For this reaction, a simple “one-pot” ball-milling operation was conducted, readily available starting materials were employed, ‘one-pot’ conditions were applied, and the most important was to use inexpensive and environmentally friendly catalyst phosphotungstic acid. Various tetrahydroquinolines, which might be potentially applicable in the pharmaceutical and biochemical areas, were conveniently synthesized in moderate to excellent yields.

Abstract

This report discusses the application of Tensar geogrids as the reinforcement elements in the, construction of mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls on the Route 22 over Conrail and Liberty, Avenue bridge replacement project in Hillside, NJ. As this is a relatively new product to the New Jersey, Department of Transportation, the geogrids were instrumented with strain gages and tiltmeters to allow, performance monitoring of the MSE walls during and after construction. This report documents the, results and findings of the monitoring data at the end of construction and after six months, as well as an, optical surveying of the MSE wall faces to determine post-construction wall movement. The monitoring, effort is in collaboration with the Federal Highway Administration’s Long Term Bridge Performance, Program.
