Abstract

To effectively perform the reliability analysis of the flap deflection angle, the reliability analysis framework is developed by introducing fault logic and a data-driven model. Herein, the fault logic analysis is used to study the fault mechanism and filter out the characteristic fault parameters that can be used to collect input data for data-driven modelling; the data-driven modelling is employed to establish a reliability analysis model with a small amount of input data. Under this proposed framework, the improved dung beetle optimization algorithm for back propagation (IDBO-BP) method is developed to perform the reliability modelling of the flap deflection angle. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed framework, we study the fault logic of flap symmetry and establish a surrogate model of flap deflection based on the fault parameters and the IDBO-BP algorithm. According to the predicted results of the flap deflection angle, the reliability model based on the fault mechanism can reflect the actual flap motion. At the same time, the proposed IDBO-BP algorithm has excellent modelling and simulation property by comparing with other optimization algorithms. Thus, the efforts of this study provide a new solution to the problem of reliable analysis with uncertain fault parameters. 7. Visual Attention for Solving Multiple-Choice Science Problem: An Eye-Tracking Analysis

Abstract

This study employed an eye-tracking technique to examine students' visual attention when solving a multiple-choice science problem. Six university students participated in a problem-solving task to predict occurrences of landslide hazards from four images representing four combinations of four factors. Participants' responses and visual attention were recorded by an eye tracker. Participants were asked to think aloud during the entire task. A 4 (options) x 4 (factors) repeated measures design, two paired t-tests and effect sizes analyses were conducted to compare the fixation duration between chosen and rejected options and between relevant and irrelevant factors. Content analyses were performed to analyze participants' responses and think aloud protocols and to examine individual's Hot Zone image. Finally, sequential analysis on fixated LookZones was further utilized to compare the scan patterns between successful and unsuccessful problem solvers. The results showed that, while solving an image-based multiple-choice science problem, students, in general, paid more attention to chosen options than rejected alternatives, and spent more time inspecting relevant factors than irrelevant ones. Additionally, successful problem solvers focused more on relevant factors, while unsuccessful problem solvers experienced difficulties in decoding the problem, in recognizing the relevant factors, and in self-regulating of concentration. Future study can be done to examine the reliability and the usability of providing adaptive instructional scaffoldings for problem solving according to students' visual attention allocations and transformations in a larger scale. Eye-tracking techniques are suggested to be used to deeply explore the cognitive process during e-learning and be applied to future online assessment systems. (Contains 4 tables and 8 figures.)

Abstract

A large scale one-pot coprecipitation method is developed for synthesis of ZnO/ZnGa2O4 heterojunction photocatalysts. XRD and Raman spectra show that ZnO and ZnGa2O4 are formed. SEM images indicate the particle size of ZnO/ZnGa2O4 heterojunction composites is about 20 nm. The HRTEM images show a close contact between ZnO and ZnGa2O4. The activities of photocatalysts are evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange (MO) in the aqueous solution. The efficiency of MO degradation on the optimum photocatalysts ZnO/ZnGa2O4-0.2 shows about 82% in 70 min, which is greatly higher than that of ZnO (6%) and ZnGa2O4 (47%). It is proposed that the heterojunctions between ZnO and ZnGa2O4 promote the charge separation and is responsible for the improved photocatalytic activity. The synthetic method of ZnO/ZnGa2O4 heterojunction has potential commercial value and can be applied to other semiconductors heterojunctions with similar structure of X/XY.

Abstract

One new diferrocene Schiff base was prepared by condensing 1′-formyl[(2,2-diferrocenyl)propane] with isonictinoyl hydrazine. 1′-formyl[(2,2-diferrocenyl)propane]isonicotinoyl hydrazone (HL) and its chelates with lanthanide ions, Ln(HL) 2 Cl 3 (H 2 O) n (Ln=La, Dy, Yb, Gd, Sm, Nd; n =1–5.) were prepared, isolated and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and 1 H NMR spectra. In these chelates the ligand coordinates to lanthanide ions in the keto form, and some chloride ions and water molecules participate in coordination to the metal ion. The redox properties of the ligand and its complexes were investigated using cyclic voltammetric method. Both the ligand and its lanthanide complexes exhibit two distinct pairs of redox peaks displaying electrochemical characteristics of multi-component system.

Abstract

In this paper, based on void packing model, the gradation of particle size range for 18mesh∼35mesh, 35mesh∼60mesh, 60mesh∼140mesh, 140mesh∼200mesh, 200mesh∼325mesh, above 325mes were investigated. The results show that lowest viscosity depends on the weight percent of particle and particle size. The priority packed position of particle size is R2 and R6.
