8. Risk factors for recovery from oculomotor nerve palsy after aneurysm surgery: a meta-analysis.

Abstract

Background: Risk factors for recovery from oculomotor nerve palsy (ONP) after aneurysm surgery explored by meta-analysis. Methods: The PubMed, Embase, web of science, Cochrane library, China Knowledge, Wan fang, and VIP databases were searched for case-control or cohort studies on risk factors of oculomotor nerve palsy recovery after aneurysm surgery, with a cut-off date of 14 February 2024, and data were analyzed using Stata 15. Result: A total of 12 articles involving 866 individuals were included, meta-analysis results suggesting that gender (OR = 0.75, 95% CI [0.51–1.10]), age (OR = 1.00, 95% CI [0.93–1.07]), aneurysm size (OR = 0.85, 95% CI [−0.71 to 1.01]), treatment time (OR = 1.01, 95% CI [0.91–1.13]) is not a risk factor for recovery of motor nerve palsy after aneurysm surgery. Preoperative complete ONP (OR = 2.27, 95% CI [1.07–4.81]), surgery (OR = 9.88, 95% CI [2.53–38.57]), subarachnoid hemorrhage (OR = 1.29, 95% CI [1.06–1.56]) is a risk factor for recovery of motor nerve palsy after aneurysm surgery. Conclusion: Based on the results of the studies we included, we found that complete ONP before surgery led to poorer recovery, but patients with post-operative and subarachnoid hemorrhage had better recovery. Abstract

Total saponins of Panax ginseng (TSPG) have antidepressant effects. However, the underlying antidepressant mechanism of TSPG remains not clear. This study aimed to predict the mechanism of TSPG by bioinformatics analysis and to verify it experimentally. Bioinformatics analysis showed that the antidepressant effects of TSPG may be related to inflammation, and CX3CL1/CX3CR1 may play a key mediating role. Wistar rats were exposed to chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) for 6 weeks, and TSPG (50 mg/kg/d, 100 mg/kg/d) was administered throughout the modeling period. It was found that TSPG improves depressive behavior and reduces neuropathic damage in the hippocampus in rats. Meanwhile, TSPG decreased mRNA and protein expression of pro‐inflammatory cytokines and CX3CL1/CX3CR1 and inhibited P38 and JNK protein phosphorylation in the hippocampus. Rat astrocytes were employed to explore further the potential mechanism of TSPG in regulating CX3CL1/CX3CR1. The results showed that CX3CL1 small interfering RNA (siRNA‐CX3CL1) and CX3CR1 inhibitor (JMS‐17‐2) had similar effects to TSPG, that is, reduced inflammatory response, reactive oxygen species (ROS), and phosphorylation of P38 and JNK proteins, while overexpression of CX3CL1 (pcDNA‐CX3CL1) counteracted the above effects of TSPG. Abstract

Oesophageal cancer (ESCA) is a clinically challenging disease with poor prognosis and health‐related quality of life. Here, we investigated the transcriptome of ESCA to identify high risk‐related signatures. A total of 159 ESCA patients of The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) were sorted by three phases. In the discovery phase, differentially expressed transcripts were filtered; in the training phase, two adjusted Cox regressions and two machine leaning models were used to construct and estimate signatures; and in the validation phase, prognostic signatures were validated in the testing dataset and the independent external cohort. We constructed two signatures from three types of RNA markers by Akaike information criterion (AIC) and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) Cox regressions, respectively, and all candidate markers were further estimated by Random Forest (RFS) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithms. Both signatures had good predictive performances in the independent external oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) cohort and performed better than common clinicopathological indicators in the TCGA dataset. Machine learning algorithms predicted prognosis with high specificities and measured the importance of markers to verify the risk weightings. Furthermore, the cell function and immunohistochemical (IHC) staining assays identified that the common risky marker FABP3 is a novel oncogene in ESCA. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Three sporopollen assemblages are recognized for the first time from the Cretaceous Yimin Formation in the Hailar Basin of eastern Inner Mongolia. They are (in ascending order): the Impardecispora-Aequitriradites-Clavatipollenites assemblage; the Triporoletes-Pilosisporites-Asteropollis assemblage; and the Appendicisporites-Asteropollis-Tricolpites assemblage, distributed in Members 1, 2 and 3 of the Yimin Formation respectively. Recognition of this biostratigraphic sequence is very important for the division and correlation of the Yimin Formation in the basin. Meanwhile, the age of the Yimin Formation is considered to be Barremian to Early Albian based on the palynological data.

Abstract

In order to satisfy the requirement of high reliability for aerospace, by utilizing the high-performance general-purpose CPU which has been developed and produced recently in China, i.e. Loongson 2GJ, an overall design program for Loongson 2GJ-based CPCI-bus board is proposed, including hardware and software design and development of the CPCI-bus computer motherboard. Environmental test results demonstrate that the design program is correct, and the corresponding product is reliable.
