Achieving high water repellency, good breathability, and anti-reflection on a metal substrate in an economical and efficient method has always been a significant challenge. This study addresses these challenges by using laser ablation on porous steel followed by heat treatment to address these challenges. By analyzing surface structure, wetting properties, and droplet behavior, this study reveals the optimal performance through laser and heat treatment parameters. Higher laser power and smaller laser spacing result in porous nested structures with larger aspect ratios and greater depth. This promotes the transition from the liquid–solid interface to the gas–liquid-solid interface, enhances the stability of the Cassie-Baxter state, improves the surface hydrophobicity, and increases the contact area with air, thereby enhancing the capillary permeability coefficient. Moreover, the intricate porous nested structure acts as a complex "light trap," whereby the reflectivity of the superhydrophobic porous steel surface can be less than 15% across a wide wavelength range (200–1800 nm). Due to its resistance to water corrosion, anti-reflection properties, and excellent breathability, the treated porous steel can be an ideal shell material for various cross-medium navigation devices. Porous calcium silicate ceramic has been prepared by ultrafast high‐temperature process in several minutes. The effect of sintering current and starch content on the phase composition, pore structure, compressive strength, and air permeability have been investigated. Homogeneous pores can be formed during the fast decomposition of calcium silicate hydrate, calcium carbonate, and starch. The optimized composition shows the high compressive strength (over 7 MPa), porosity (60.8%), and air permeability (379.4 L/m2 s). Results showed that the ultrafast high‐temperature sintering method can achieve homogenous porous structure in much shorter time than conventional furnace sintering. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The vegetation patterns in high-latitude and high-altitude regions (HLAR) of the Northern Hemisphere are undergoing significant changes due to the combined effects of global warming and human activities, leading to increased uncertainties in vegetation phenological assessment. However, previous studies on vegetation phenological changes often relied on long-term time series of remote sensing products for evaluation and lacked comprehensive analysis of driving factors. In this study, we utilized high temporal resolution seamless MODIS products (MODIS-NDVISDC and MODIS-EVI2SDC) to assess the vegetation phenological changes in High-Latitude-Altitude Regions (HLAR) of the Northern Hemisphere. We quantified the differences in vegetation phenology among different land-use types and determined the main driving factors behind vegetation phenological changes. The results showed that the length of the growing season (LOS) derived from MODIS-NDVISDC was 8.9 days longer than that derived from MODIS-EVI2SDC, with an earlier start of the growing season (SOS) by 1.5 days and a later end of the growing season (EOS) by 7.4 days. Among different vegetation types, deciduous needleleaf forests exhibited the fastest LOS extension (p < 0.01), while croplands showed the fastest LOS reduction (p < 0.05). Regarding land-use transitions, the conversion of built-up land to forest and grassland had the longest LOS. In expanding agricultural areas, the LOS of land converted from built-up land to cropland was significantly higher than that of other land conversions. We analyzed human activities and found that as the human footprint gradient increased, the LOS showed a decreasing trend. Among the climate-related factors, the dominant response of phenology to temperature was the strongest in the vegetation greening period. During the vegetation browning period, the temperature control was weakened, and the control of radiation and precipitation was enhanced, accounting for 20–30% of the area, respectively. Finally, we supplement and prove that the highest contributions to vegetation greening in the Northern Hemisphere occurred during the SOS period (May–June) and the EOS period (October). Our study provides a theoretical basis for vegetation phenological assessment under global change. 2, 6-diisopropylaniline (2, 6-DIPA) is a crucial non-intentionally organic additive that allows the assessment of the production processes, formulation qualities, and performance variations in biodegradable mulching film. Moreover, its release into the environment may have certain effects on human health. Hence, this study developed simultaneous heating hydrolysis–extraction and amine switchable hydrophilic solvent vortex-assisted homogeneous liquid–liquid microextraction for the gas chromatography–mass spectrometry analysis of the 2, 6-DIPA additive and its corresponding isocyanates in poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) biodegradable agricultural mulching films. The heating hydrolysis–extraction conditions and factors influencing the efficiency of homogeneous liquid–liquid microextraction, such as the type and volume of amine, homogeneous-phase and phase separation transition pH, and extraction time were investigated and optimized. The optimum heating hydrolysis–extraction conditions were found to be a H2SO4 concentration of 2.5 M, heating temperature of 87.8 °C, and hydrolysis–extraction time of 3.0 h. As a switchable hydrophilic solvent, dipropylamine does not require a dispersant. Vortex assistance is helpful to speed up the extraction. Under the optimum experimental conditions, this method exhibits a better linearity (0.0144~7.200 μg mL−1 with R = 0.9986), low limit of detection and quantification (0.0033 μg g−1 and 0.0103 μg g−1), high extraction recovery (92.5~105.4%), desirable intra- and inter-day precision (relative standard deviation less than 4.1% and 4.7%), and high enrichment factor (90.9). Finally, this method was successfully applied to detect the content of the additive 2, 6-DIPA in PBAT biodegradable agricultural mulching films, thus facilitating production process monitoring or safety assessments. To broaden the applications of yttria‐stabilized zirconia (YSZ) in mobile phone back panels and high‐end decorative materials, the 3 mol% YSZ (3YSZ) ceramics doped with erbium oxide (Er2O3) as colorant were successfully sintered at 1250 and 1350°C in air. The influences of Er2O3‐doping concentration and sintering temperature on the phase, microstructure, color, and mechanical properties of the pink Er2O3‐3YSZ ceramics were investigated. As the Er2O3 concentration increased, the redness value a* gradually increased, while the yellowness value b* and the lightness value L* gradually decreased. The highest value a* and b* of Er2O3‐3YSZ ceramics reached absolute values of 15.2 and 4.5, respectively. The effect of Er2O3 concentration is also depicted in detail, which also affects the mechanical properties including hardness and fracture toughness of the ceramics. The maximum hardness and fracture toughness of Er2O3‐3YSZ ceramics reached 13.9 ± 0.3 GPa and 6.21 ± 0.20 MPa·m1/2, respectively. The hardness of the ceramics exceeds 12.5 GPa, which is the required market index for further practical application. This work provides a method for preparing 3YSZ ceramics with excellent mechanical properties and bright pink color, which has the potential to be used in the fields of advanced and superior electronics in particular. Macrophages are immune cells in the TME that can not only inhibit angiogenesis, extracellular matrix remodeling, cancer cell proliferation, and metastasis but also mediate the phagocytosis and killing of cancer cells after activation, making them key targets in anti-tumor immunotherapy. However, there is little research on macrophages and their relation to disease prognosis in HNSCC. Initially, we collected scRNA-seq, bulk RNA-seq, and clinical data. Subsequently, we identified macrophages and distinguished MRGs. Using the K-means algorithm, we performed consensus unsupervised clustering. Next, we used ssGSEA analysis to assess immune cell infiltration in MRG clusters. A risk model was established using multivariate Cox analysis. Then, Kaplan–Meier, ROC curves, univariate and multivariate COX analyses, and C-index was used to validate the predictive power of the signature. The TIDE method was applied to assess the response to immunotherapy in patients diagnosed with HNSCC. In addition, drug susceptibility predictions were made for the GDSC database using the calcPhenotype function. We found that 8 MRGs had prognostic potential. Patients in the MRG group A had a higher probability of survival, and MRG clusters A and B had different characteristics. Cluster A had a higher degree of expression and infiltration in MRG, indicating a closer relationship with MRG. The accuracy of the signature was validated using univariate and multivariate Cox analysis, C-index, and nomogram. Immune landscape analysis found that various immune functions were highly expressed in the low-risk group, indicating an improved response to immunotherapy. Finally, drugs with high sensitivity to HNSCC (such as 5-Fluorouracil, Temozolomide, Carmustine, and EPZ5676) were explored and analyze the malignant characteristics of HNSCC. We constructed a prognostic model using multivariate Cox analysis, consisting of 8 MRGs (TGM2, STC1, SH2D3C, PIK3R3, MAP3K8, ITGA5, ARHGAP4, and AQP1). Patients in the low-risk group may have a higher response to immunotherapy. The more prominent drugs for drug selection are 5-fluorouracil, temozolomide and so on. Malignant features associated with HNSCC include angiogenesis, EMT, and the cell cycle. This study has opened up new prospects for the prognosis, prediction, and clinical treatment strategy of HNSCC. In the present study, poling−free PLLA/VB2 piezoelectric composites are fabricated to achieve synchronous sound recognition and energy harvesting. The addition of VB2 can interact with PLLA by intermolecular hydrogen bonding, inducing the dipole orientation of C=O in PLLA. Meanwhile, VB2 can promote crystallization of PLLA through heterogeneous nucleation. The combination of the two strategies significantly improves the piezoelectric performance of PLLA/VB2 composites. The PLLA/VB2 can detect the sound frequency with an accuracy of 0.1% in the range of 0–20 kHz to recognize characteristic sounds from a specific source. PLLA/VB2 can also convert sound into electrical energy synchronously with an energy density of 0.2 W/cm−3 to power up LEDs. The rotor blades of an axial‐flow turbine are cantilever structures, and there is inevitably a gap between them and the casing. Due to factors such as rotor wear and unit vibration, the eccentricity of the impeller will change during the operation of the turbine, resulting in the impeller being affected by additional radial forces, which can even lead to rubbing or biting between the impeller and the casing. To monitor the eccentricity of the impeller and the additional radial forces in real time during the operation of the turbine, this study conducted numerical simulations of the internal flow of the turbine under different eccentricities of the impeller, and analyzed the characteristics of pressure pulsation and impeller radial force in the turbine using the variational mode decomposition method. The results showed that there was a good linear relationship between the eccentricity of the impeller and the amplitude of the frequency corresponding to the rotor in pressure pulsation at the monitoring point and the Alford force acting on the impeller. Based on this finding, we established mathematical formulas for the relationship between the pressure pulsation at the monitoring point and the eccentricity of the impeller, as well as the eccentricity of the impeller and the Alford force acting on it. According to these formulas, we only need to monitor the pressure pulsation during the operation of the turbine to realize the real‐time monitoring of the eccentricity of the impeller and the Alford force, which is of great significance for ensuring the safe and stable operation of the turbine. Biological and green synthesis of nanomaterial is a superior choice over chemical and physical methods due to nanoscale attributes implanted in a green chemistry matrix, have sparked a lot of interest for their potential uses in a variety of sectors. This research investigates the growing relevance of nanocomposites manufactured using ecologically friendly, green technologies. The transition to green synthesis correlates with the worldwide drive for environmentally sound procedures, limiting the use of traditional harsh synthetic techniques. Herein, manganese was decorated on ZnO NPs via reducing agent of Withania-extract and confirmed by UV-spectrophotometry with highest peak at 1:2 ratio precursors, and having lower bandgap energy (3.3 eV). XRD showed the sharp peaks and confirms the formation of nanoparticles, having particle size in range of 11–14 nm. SEM confirmed amorphous tetragonal structure while EDX spectroscopy showed the presence of Zn and Mn in all composition. Green synthesized Mn-decorated ZnO-NPs screened against bacterial strains and exhibited excellent antimicrobial activities against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. To check further, applicability of synthesized Mn-decorated Zn nanocomposites, their photocatalytic activity against toxic water pollutants (methylene blue (MB) dye) were also investigated and results showed that 53.8% degradation of MB was done successfully. Furthermore, the installation of green chemistry in synthesizing nanocomposites by using plant extract matrix optimizes antibacterial characteristics, antioxidant and biodegradability, helping to build sustainable green Mn decorated ZnO nanomaterial. This work, explains how biologically friendly Mn-doped ZnO nanocomposites can help reduce the environmental impact of traditional packaging materials. Based on these findings, it was determined that nanocomposites derived from biological resources should be produced on a wide scale to eradicate environmental and water contaminants through degradation. The local reaction environment of catalytic active sites can be manipulated to modify the kinetics and thermodynamic properties of heterogeneous catalysis. Because of the unique physical–chemical nature of water, heterogeneously catalyzed reactions involving specific interactions between water molecules and active sites on catalysts exhibit distinct outcomes that are different from those performed in the absence of water. Zeolitic materials are being applied with the presence of water for heterogeneous catalytic reactions in the chemical industry and our transition to sustainable energy. Mechanistic investigation and in-depth understanding about the behaviors and the roles of water are essentially required for zeolite chemistry and catalysis. In this review, we focus on the discussions of the nature and structures of water adsorbed/stabilized on Brønsted and Lewis acidic zeolites based on experimental observations as well as theoretical calculation results. The unveiled functions of water structures in determining the catalytic efficacy of zeolite-catalyzed reactions have been overviewed and the strategies frequently developed for enhancing the stabilization of zeolite catalysts are highlighted. Recent advancement will contribute to the development of innovative catalytic reactions and the rationalization of catalytic performances in terms of activity, selectivity and stability with the presence of water vapor or in condensed aqueous phase. The cavitation phenomenon can induce non-uniformity in the fluid, impacting fluid dynamic performance. This paper focuses on the cavitation shedding of the Delft Twist 11 hydrofoil. First, the reliability of numerical simulations is verified by computational fluid dynamics results. Utilizing the variational mode decomposition method, the cavitation signals on two cavitation paths are decomposed. Finally, the cavitation pulsation tracking network method is proposed to extensively investigate the spatial propagation patterns of cavitation signals at various sections above the twisted hydrofoil. The results reveal that typical frequencies at different monitoring planes are 30, 58, and 88 Hz. The corresponding amplitude analysis at these frequencies provides insight into the spatial propagation and attenuation process of cavitation vortices shedding. This study offers a novel perspective for a deeper understanding of cavitation mechanisms. Previous researches have demonstrated that the ground electrode would influence the performance of the plasma jet. In this study, the characteristics of plasma jets underwater for different grounded conditions are investigated. The influence of airflow rate, and electrode length underwater are experimental studies. When the water is grounded, it would provide another charge channel for the discharge, much more ions would be transferred to the water. The length and discharge intensity would be enhanced. Besides, the length of electrode underwater would also influence the performance of the plasma jet. It is found that the shorter the electrode length, the larger the ratio of plasma jet length to electrode length. Furthermore, an electric diagram is promoted to explain the corresponding mechanism, by analyzing the resistance and capacitance under different working conditions, the theoretical explanation under different experimental working conditions is given, and further analysis demonstrated that the accumulation of charges in water during the discharge process would be the main reason to influence the propagation of plasma jet under water. In this study, a nano-catalyst based on calcium peroxide (CaO2) and the chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX) co-loaded into HPB nanoparticles (HPB@CaO2/DOX-PAA) was developed to achieve synergistic cancer treatment through chemodynamic/chemo/photothermal (CDT/CT/PTT) mechanisms. In this paper, the detection methods and detection systems for the subwavelength focusing optical field of the micro-Fresnel zone plate (FZP) are experimentally studied. First, a comparison is made between the micro/nanofabrication methods for micro-FZP, namely, focused ion beam (FIB) and electron beam lithography, and the results show that FIB is better suited for the amplitude-type micro-FZP fabrication. Subsequently, the experimental detection devices based on the wide-field microscopy amplification (WFMA) imaging method (indirect detection method) and scanning near-field optical microscopy (direct detection method) are, respectively, constructed for the detection of the subwavelength focusing optical field of micro-FZP. The experimental results are compared and analyzed with theoretical calculation results, indicating that the WFMA method is more suitable for the detection of micro-FZP subwavelength focusing optical field that is not sensitive to radial components. This study provides an experimental reference for the micro/nanofocusing optical field detection of micro/nano-optical components similar to micro-FZP and promotes the practical application of micro-FZP. In this paper, we present a robust joint variable selection procedure for fixed and random effects in semiparametric linear mixed effects model for longitudinal data. Our simultaneous selection method overcomes the defects of typical approaches which select separately each of the two effects components. Meanwhile, the proposed procedure performs better than nonrobust method when there are outliers in the data. This method is based on a robustified penalized joint likelihood of the reparameterized linear mixed effects model through B-splines approximation and Cholesky decomposition. Aims: Cognitive dysfunction associated with chronic pain may be caused by impaired synaptic plasticity. Considering the impact of silent information regulator 1 (SIRT1) on synaptic plasticity, we explored the exact role of SIRT1 in cognitive impairment caused by chronic pain. Methods: We evaluated the memory ability of mice with the fear conditioning test (FCT) after spared nerve injury (SNI) model. Western blotting and immunofluorescence were used to analyze the expression levels of SIRT1. Hippocampal synaptic plasticity was detected with Golgi staining, transmission electron microscopy, and long‐term potentiation (LTP). In the intervention study, AAV9‐CaMKIIα‐Cre‐EGFP was injected to SIRT1flox/flox mice to knockdown the expression levels of SIRT1. Besides, SNI mice were injected with AAV2/9‐CaMKIIα‐SIRT1‐3*Flag‐GFP or SRT1720 to increase the expression levels or enzymatic activity of SIRT1. Results: Our current results indicated that cognitive function in SNI mice was impaired, SIRT1 expression in glutaminergic neurons in the hippocampal CA1 area was downregulated, and synaptic plasticity was altered. Selective knockdown of SIRT1 in hippocampus damaged synaptic plasticity and cognitive function of healthy mice. In addition, the impaired synaptic plasticity and cognitive dysfunction of SNI mice could be improved by the upregulation of SIRT1 expression or enzyme activity. Conclusions: Reduced SIRT1 expression in hippocampus of SNI mice may induce cognitive impairment associated with chronic pain by mediating the impaired synaptic plasticity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Simple Summary: Rotavirus is one of the pathogens that cause diarrhea in calves. Bovine rotavirus poses difficulties in diagnosis and prevention due to its complex serology and large differences between strains, so the establishment of a rapid and effective detection kit has a wide range of applications for the early diagnosis and timely treatment of viral infections. In this study, we expressed the bovine rotavirus VP6 protein by a eukaryotic expression system, immunized BALB/c mice to collect serum, and established an indirect ELISA for VP6 protein. Our results showed that the prepared indirect ELISA has the advantages of good specificity and high sensitivity, which provides technical support for the effective detection and epidemiological investigation of bovine rotavirus at a later stage. The objective of this study was to develop an indirect ELISA utilizing a polyclonal antibody against bovine rotavirus (BRV) VP6 protein. To achieve this, pcDNA3.1-VP6, a recombinant eukaryotic expression plasmid, was constructed based on the sequence of the conserved BRV gene VP6 and was transfected into CHO-K1 cells using the transient transfection method. The VP6 protein was purified as the coating antigen using nickel ion affinity chromatography, and an indirect ELISA was subsequently established. The study found that the optimal concentration of coating for the VP6 protein was 1 μg/mL. The optimal blocking solution was 3% skim milk, and the blocking time was 120 min. The secondary antibody was diluted to 1:4000, and the incubation time for the secondary antibody was 30 min. A positive result was indicated when the serum OD450 was greater than or equal to 0.357. The coefficients of variation were less than 10% both within and between batches, indicating the good reproducibility of the method. The study found that the test result was positive when the serum dilution was 217, indicating the high sensitivity of the method. A total of 24 positive sera and 40 negative sera were tested using the well-established ELISA. The study also established an indirect ELISA assay with good specificity and sensitivity for the detection of antibodies to bovine rotavirus. Sp3‐hybridized carbons‐rich molecules play a crucial role in drug discovery. Cobalt‐catalyzed hydroalkylation of alkenes and alkynes is an efficient method to synthesize these compounds. These reactions exhibit a wide range of applicability and high tolerance for functional groups, utilizing readily available alkenes and alkynes instead of hyperactive metallic reagents. Herein, we summarize the advancements of cobalt‐catalyzed hydroalkylation of alkenes and alkynes, according to different reaction mechanisms. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) is widely utilized for retrieving land surface reflectance to reflect plant conditions, detect ecosystem phenology, monitor forest fires, and constrain terrestrial energy budgets. However, the state-of-the-art MODIS surface reflectance products suffer from temporal and spatial gaps due to atmospheric conditions (e.g. clouds and aerosols), limiting their use in ecological, agricultural, and environmental studies. Therefore, there is a need for reconstructing spatiotemporally seamless (i.e. gap-filled) surface reflectance data from MODIS products, which is difficult due to the intrinsic inconsistency of observations resulting from various sun/view geometry and the prolonged missing values resulting from polar night or heavy cloud coverage, especially in monsoon season. We built a framework for generating the global 500 m daily seamless data cubes (SDC500) based on MODIS surface reflectance dataset, which contains the generation of a land-cover-based a priori database, bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) correction, outlier detection, gap filling, and smoothing. The first global spatiotemporally seamless land surface reflectance at 500 m resolution was produced, covering the period from 2000 to 2022. Preliminary evaluation of the dataset at 12 sites worldwide with different land cover demonstrated its robust performance. The quantitative assessment shows that the SDC500 gap-filling results have a root-mean-square error (RMSE) of 0.0496 and a mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.0430. The SDC500 BRDF correction results showed an RMSE of 0.056 and a bias of - 0.0085 when compared with MODIS nadir BRDF-adjusted reflectance (NBAR) products, indicating the acceptable accuracy of both products. From a temporal perspective, the SDC500 eliminates abnormal fluctuations while retaining the useful localized feature of rapid disturbances. To achieve accurate detection of AFB1 toxin content in agricultural products and avoid false-positive rates in the assays, the specificity of mAbs is critical. We improved the specificity of the prepared monoclonal antibodies by modifying the traditional limiting dilution subcloning method. The traditional finite dilution method was modified with three-stage screening (the trending concentration of standards used in the screening is low–high–low) to achieve high specificity in pre-cell screening and increased the number of subclones to 10 to achieve the de-homologation of antibodies. A modified limiting dilution obtained a highly specific AFB1 monoclonal cell line, ZFG8, with a 50% inhibition concentration (IC50) of 0.3162 ng/mL. Notably, it exhibited the highest specificity compared to anti-AFB1 monoclonal antibodies prepared by other investigators. The maximum cross-reactivity of the mAb with structural analogues for AFB2, AFG1, AFG2, and AFM1 was 0.34%. The results showed that this type of screening improves the monoclonal antibodies' specificity. Based on this ZFG8 monoclonal antibody, an icELISA assay was established with an IC50 of 0.2135 ng/mL for AFB1. The limit of the linear detection range of icELISA is 0.0422–1.29267 ng/mL with reasonable specificity and precision. The recoveries of AFB1 in samples of corn flour and wheat meal ranged from 84 to 107%, with CVs below 9.3%. The recoveries of structural analogues (AFB2, AFM1, AFG1, and AFG2) were less than 10% in both corn flour and wheat meal. The results showed that the prepared AFB1 monoclonal antibody could accurately and specifically recognize AFB1 residues in agricultural products while ignoring the effects of other structural analogues. Aims: Surface mulching and nitrogen fertilization in agricultural practices can promote the establishment of soil microbial networks by altering soil physicochemical properties. Methods: A five-year field experiment and high-throughput sequencing were conducted to study the effects of surface mulching (FM, plastic film mulching; SM, straw mulching; and NM, no mulching) and nitrogen fertilization (N0, without nitrogen fertilization; NU, with nitrogen fertilization) on soil microorganism communities under maize cropping in the Loess Plateau. Results: Straw mulching significantly increased the soil organic carbon (SOC), dissolved organic carbon (DOC), and microorganism biomass carbon (MBC) concentrations, whereas the plastic film mulching significantly decreased the SOC, DOC, and soil microorganism biomass nitrogen (MBN) concentrations. Surface mulching significantly increased the richness and diversity of the soil bacteria, but had no effect on the soil fungal community. Nitrogen fertilization significantly decreased the bacterial richness, but increased the fungal richness. Surface mulching resulted in a greater abundance of Firmicutes and Methylomirabilota than the treatments lacking mulching. The nitrogen fertilization treatments more greatly increased Proteobacteria and decreased Acidobacteriota, Mortierellomycota, and Glomeromycota in comparison to the treatments lacking N fertilization. Conclusions: Network analysis showed that plastic mulching and nitrogen fertiliser application increased the complexity of the co-occurrence network by altering the microbial habitat environment (mainly consisting of soil temperature, MBN, DOC, pH and SWC), while straw mulching reduced the complexity of its subsurface network. Background: The differential diagnosis between tuberculous meningitis (TBM) and viral meningitis (VM) or bacterial meningitis (BM) remains challenging in clinical practice, particularly in resource-limited settings. This study aimed to establish a diagnostic model that can accurately and early distinguish TBM from both VM and BM in adults based on simple clinical and laboratory parameters. Methods: Patients diagnosed with TBM or non-TBM (VM or BM) between January 2012 and October 2021 were retrospectively enrolled from the General Hospital (derivation cohort) and Branch Hospital (validation cohort) of Ningxia Medical University. Demographic characteristics, clinical symptoms, concomitant diseases, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) parameters were collated. Univariable logistic analysis was performed in the derivation cohort to identify significant variables (P < 0.05). A multivariable logistic regression model was constructed using these variables. We verified the performance including discrimination, calibration, and applicability of the model in both derivation and validation cohorts. Results: A total of 222 patients (70 TBM and 152 non-TBM [75 BM and 77 VM]) and 100 patients (32 TBM and 68 non-TBM [31 BM and 37 VM]) were enrolled as derivation and validation cohorts, respectively. The multivariable logistic regression model showed that disturbance of consciousness for > 5 days, weight loss > 5% of the original weight within 6 months, CSF lymphocyte ratio > 50%, CSF glucose concentration < 2.2 mmol/L, and secondary cerebral infarction were independently correlated with the diagnosis of TBM (P < 0.05). The nomogram model showed excellent discrimination (area under the curve 0.959 vs. 0.962) and great calibration (P-value in the Hosmer–Lemeshow test 0.128 vs. 0.863) in both derivation and validation cohorts. Clinical decision curve analysis showed that the model had good applicability in clinical practice and may benefit the entire population. Conclusions: This multivariable diagnostic model may help clinicians in the early discrimination of TBM from VM and BM in adults based on simple clinical and laboratory parameters. In the field of the Internet of Things, image acquisition equipment is the very important equipment, which will generate lots of invalid data during real-time monitoring. Analyzing the data collected directly from the terminal by edge calculation, we can remove invalid frames and improve the accuracy of system detection. SSD algorithm has a relatively light and fast detection speed. However, SSD algorithm do not take full advantage of both shallow and deep information of data. So a multiscale feature fusion attention mechanism structure based on SSD algorithm has been proposed in this paper, which combines multiscale feature fusion and attention mechanism. The adjacent feature layers for each detection layer are fused to improve the feature information expression ability. Then, the attention mechanism is added to increase the attention of the feature map channels. The present work involves the investigation of the synergistic effects of gamma irradiation, tensile stress and absorbed moisture on the radiolysis behaviors of silicone foams by experiments and theoretical simulations. For both the pristine and dehydrated samples, the permanent tensile set increases with the initial tensile strain. Further analysis uncovers that the dehydrated samples exhibit greater permanent tensile sets, lower further elongation and higher Young's modulus than the counterparts of the pristine samples with the same initial tensile strain and gamma dose, verifying the vital synergistic effects on crosslinking network and aggregation structures caused by moisture and gamma radiation. The synergistic effects unveiled by reactive molecular dynamics at the atomic scale are due to the moisture-induced neutralization and stabilization of the macromolecular radicals. The steric hindrance of moisture located at the interface of silica and polymer chains also conduces to the observed synergistic effects due to the inhibited crosslinking reactions. Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) accounts for a large proportion of the burden of skin disease, with a prevalence of around 10% among adults worldwide. In addition, systematic reviews and meta‐analyses have found that AD is associated with cancer risk at several sites; if found to be causal this could highlight potential treatment targets to reduce cancer risk. Objectives: To assess the potential causative link between AD and 14 site‐specific cancers in a two‐sample randomization study. Methods: From the largest genome‐wide association study (GWAS) of AD (10,788 cases and 30,047 non‐cases), genetic variants highly associated (p < 5 × 10−8) with AD in the European population were selected as instrumental variables (IVs). Data from large cancer consortia, as well as the UK Biobank study (n = 442,239) and the FinnGen study (n = 218,792), were employed to assess genetic associations with 14 site‐specific cancers and overall cancer. A set of complementary approaches and sensitivity analyses were carried out to examine the robustness of our results. In addition, associations for the same cancer site from different data sources were combined using meta‐analyses. Results: We discovered no strong causal evidence of AD on the risk of overall cancer, with effect estimates close to zero. After the Benjamini–Hochberg correction, the inverse‐variance weighted method indicated no association between AD and overall cancer risk in both the UK Biobank (OR, 1.00; 95% CI, 0.94–1.06; FDR, 0.98) and FinnGen studies (OR, 0.96; 95% CI, 0.92–1.02; FDR, 0.68). No strong evidence of an association was found between genetically predicted AD and the risk of any site‐specific cancers. Conclusions: Our MR investigation does not support a causal effect of AD on cancer risk. This finding has important implications for the prevention and management of both AD and cancer, as it reduces the concern of potential adverse effects of AD on cancer outcomes. Direct numerical simulations of Mach 6 hypersonic flow over a 34° compression corner subject to steady jet are conducted. Distributions of skin friction coefficient, wall pressure, mean velocity and temperature, boundary layer thickness and Stanton number demonstrate that the flow changes dramatically in the shock wave/turbulent boundary layer interaction area. It is found that the steady jet has no effect on suppressing flow separation unexpectedly, but increases its spatial scale instead. Instantaneous flow structures show that the turbulence amplification can be observed after the application of flow control, and abundant Gortler-like vorticities appear, but the strength of the main shock decreases. Analyzing the wall fluctuating pressure signals using weighted power spectral density, we found an interesting thing. That is, although the low-frequency oscillation phenomenon induced by separation shock is suppressed by the steady jet, wall fluctuating pressure beneath the jet shock is oscillating at a frequency lower than 0.1u∞/δref. Titanium drill pipe have promising application prospects in ultra-deep drilling, but the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of composite drill strings are very complex. It is very important to use titanium drill pipe safely, economically, and effectively in the drilling process. In this paper, different schemes of the titanium/steel drill pipe composite drill string was designed, and the statics and dynamics characteristics of these composite drill strings were analyzed. The design scheme of titanium/steel composite drill strings were optimized by using whirling characteristics, dynamic stress and vibration acceleration. The results show that the titanium drill pipe can effectively improve the tensile allowance of the wellhead and reduce the whirling velocity, dynamic stress and vibration acceleration of the drill string. By comparing and analyzing the dynamic characteristics of 3 kinds of composite drill strings, the use of titanium drill pipe for the lower 2000 m of the 4′′ drill pipe have the smaller dynamic stress and lateral vibration, and less collision with the wellbore. Based on the analysis of vibration and dynamic characteristics, an optimal scheme of drilling operation parameters for the titanium/steel composite drill string was formed finally, which can provide guidance for the use of the drill string composed of titanium/steel drill pipe in natural gas drilling of ultra-deep well. Background: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a malignant epithelial tumor characterized by a dismal prognosis. Given the lack of therapeutic strategies and durable treatment options currently available, identifying innovative treatments for CCA is an urgent unmet clinical need. Cucurbitacin C (CuC) is a distinct variant of the cucurbitacin family, displaying promising anti-cancer activity against various tumor types. The primary objective of our research is to elucidate the promising effects of CuC on CCA. Methods: The impact of CuC on CCA cell lines was assessed by cell count kit-8 assay, EdU staining assay, colony formation assay, wound-healing assay, and Transwell assay. Flow cytometric analysis was conducted to explore the function of CuC treatments on cell-cycle distribution and apoptosis in CCA cells. Computational biology and network pharmacology approaches were utilized to predict potential targets of CuC. Furthermore, a tumor xenograft mouse model was established using CCA cells to explore the anti-cancer effects of CuC in vivo. Results: Our research findings revealed that CuC exerted a suppressive effect on CCA cell progression. Cell viability assays, EdU staining assays, and colony formation assays demonstrated that CuC effectively suppressed viability and proliferation of CCA cells. Wound-healing assays and Transwell assays indicated that CuC effectively inhibits the migratory and invasive capabilities of CCA cells. Flow cytometry analysis elucidated that CuC played its anti-proliferative role in CCA cells by arresting G0/G1 phase and increasing apoptosis. Through bioinformatics and network pharmacology analysis, in conjunction with western blot analysis, we demonstrated CuC mediated the inhibition of CCA cell progression through modulation of JAK2/STAT3 pathway. Additionally, the CCA xenograft tumor model was established, and the results supported the inhibition of CuC treatment against CCA progression in vivo. Conclusion: Our study demonstrates that CuC possesses notable capabilities to suppress cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in CCA. Importantly, the inhibitory effects of CuC on CCA progression are attributed to its modulation of the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway. Abstract Objective Methods Results Conclusion This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the clinical characteristics of 31 patients exhibiting cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and/or serum positivity for GFAP-IgG, with a specific emphasis on 24 cases demonstrating only GFAP-IgG positivity. The investigation thoroughly evaluates their clinical, radiological, and laboratory features, as well as treatment responses, with the objective of offering clinicians potential diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.A total of 31 patients with GFAP-IgG in the CSF and/or serum were registered between August 2016 and August 2021 at the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University and Huashan Hospital of Fudan University. We retrospectively reviewed their clinical records.Overall, the patients were positive with GFAP-IgG in their CSF (15/31), in serum (6/31), and both CSF and serum (10/31). Among them, two were eventually diagnosed with astroglioma and primary central nervous system lymphoma, respectively; one patient had typical multiple sclerosis; three exhibited overlapping GFAP-IgG and aquaporin-4-IgG (AQP4-IgG); and one patient was coexisting N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor IgG. The remaining 24 patients were only GFAP-IgG positive. In total, 22 out of the 24 patients had abnormal MRI outcomes, involving the brain, meninges, and spinal cord. Besides, seven of the 24 patients developed optic neuritis. The CSF protein levels positively correlated with the Expanded Disability Status Scale score (EDSSs). Significantly decreased EDSSs, modified Rankin Scale score, GFAP-IgG titer, CSF protein level, and CSF white blood cell counts were observed after immunomodulatory therapy.The clinical manifestations of GFAP-IgG exhibit a wide range of phenotypes that lack specificity. These findings emphasize the significance of not exclusively relying on the presence of antibodies to diagnose GFAP-A, but rather integrating them with the clinical phenotypes. GFAP-IgG testing enables the diagnosis of autoimmune GFAP astrocytopathy, a treatable autoimmune disease affecting the central nervous system. Summary: Emerging evidence has demonstrated that obesity impacts multiple immune‐related diseases. It remains unclear whether and how obesity alters treatment outcomes in patients with primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). Thus, we retrospectively investigated 214 treatment‐naïve patients who received standard high‐dose dexamethasone therapy in Qilu Hospital. Patients with obesity showed significantly lower overall initial response (underweight vs. normal vs. overweight vs. obese: 85.7% vs. 85.2% vs. 72.0% vs. 52.3%, p = 0.001) and initial complete response ([CR], 71.4% vs. 70.4% vs. 53.3% vs. 27.3%, p < 0.001) rates. The same trend was observed in the 6‐month sustained response (63.6% vs. 52.3% vs. 35.6% vs. 22.7%, p = 0.03) and sustained CR (36.4% vs. 44.6% vs. 24.4% vs. 9.1%, p = 0.01). The Kaplan–Meier analysis revealed a shortened duration of remission in the obese group (median duration of remission, not reached vs. 16 months vs. 2 months vs. 1 month, p = 0.002). In multivariate regression analysis, obesity was independently associated with poor initial and sustained responses, and an increased risk for relapse. In conclusion, obesity is a negative predictor for outcomes of corticosteroid treatment. A stratified strategy according to body mass index status may facilitate the precision management of ITP. The focusing performances of high-numerical-aperture (NA) Fresnel zone plates (FZP) under different immersion media are investigated by combining the vectorial angular spectrum (VAS) theory and the finite-difference time-domain method. It has been found that as the refractive index deviation increases, the focus approximately linearly shifts along the positive z-axis. Simultaneously, the transverse size of the focusing spot gradually decreases, and super-resolution focusing is realized. However, the peak intensity declines with an increase in the refractive index. In addition, when the deviation of the refractive index of the actual immersion medium from the design value is less than about 30%, VAS theory can correctly estimate the focusing light field distribution, except when the FZP has only one or two transparent annuli. On the contrary, VAS theory cannot achieve an accurate prediction when the deviation is larger. These findings will benefit the practical application of high-NA FZPs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Improving the interest linkage models between new farmers and small farmers is an important measure to realize the organic connection between small farmers and modern agricultural development. Based on the survey data of 572 new farmers in 16 provinces in China, this study uses the ordered probit model to empirically analyze the impact of entrepreneurial organization form on the interest linkage models between new farmers and small farmers. The results show that: (1) The choice of different entrepreneurial organization forms such as individual operation, cooperative operation, partner operation and company operation by new farmers will significantly affect the degree of interest linkage and then the linkage models. Partner operation and company operation have significantly improved the tightness of interest linkage between new farmers and small farmers. (2) The form of entrepreneurial organization significantly impacts the interest linkage between new farmers and small farmers. The higher the stability of entrepreneurial organization form, the closer the interest linkage and the more significant the impact on the interest linkage models. This effect remains significant after considering potential endogeneity issues and robustness tests. (3) In addition, further research also found significant regional differences and group differences in the impact of entrepreneurial organization form on the new farmers and small farmers' interest linkage models. The impact of the western region is more significant than that of the eastern and central regions, and government entrepreneurship support policies can significantly strengthen the interest linkage models. (Sr0.97Eu0.01Dy0.02)Al2O4 persistent luminescence (PersL) ceramics were fabricated by solid‐state reactive sintering in vacuum combined with hot isostatic pressing (HIP) using H3BO3 as a sintering additive. The phase composition, microstructure, luminescence properties, trap state, and PersL performance of HIP post‐treated (Sr0.97Eu0.01Dy0.02)Al2O4 PersL ceramics were discussed. For the (Sr0.97Eu0.01Dy0.02)Al2O4 PersL ceramics after HIP post‐treatment, the initial luminescence intensity of the ceramics reached over 6400 mcd/m2 with simulated daylight irradiation of 1000 lx for 5 min, and the persistent emission decay time > 17 h. This is much better than the SrAl2O4:Eu2+,Dy3+ PersL powders and the other luminescent ceramics. In addition, this method is a solid‐state reactive sintering method for synthesizing ceramics, which has the advantages of low cost and simple operation, and is suitable for large‐scale, high‐volume industrial production. Distinguishing themselves from nanostructured catalysts, single‐atom catalysts (SACs) typically consist of positively charged single metal and coordination atoms without any metal‐metal bonds. Dual‐atom catalysts (DACs) have emerged as extended family members of SACs in recent years. Both SACs and DACs possess characteristics that combine both homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, offering advantages such as uniform active sites and adjustable interactions with ligands, while also inheriting the high stability and recyclability associated with heterogeneous catalyst systems. They offer numerous advantages and are extensively utilized in the field of electrocatalysis, so they have emerged as one of the most prominent material research platforms in the direction of electrocatalysis. This review provides a comprehensive review of SACs and DACs in the field of electrocatalysis: encompassing economic production, elucidating electrocatalytic reaction pathways and associated mechanisms, uncovering structure‐performance relationships, and addressing major challenges and opportunities within this domain. Root−soil underground interactions mediated by soil microorganisms and metabolites are crucial for fertilizer utilization efficiency and crop growth regulation. This study employed a combined approach of soil microbial community profiling and non-targeted metabolomics to investigate the patterns of root-associated microbial aggregation and the mechanisms associated with metabolites under varying controlled-release fertilizer (CRF) application rates. The experimental treatments included five field application rates of CRF (D1: 675 kg/ha; D15: 1012.5 kg/ha; D2: 1350 kg/ha; D25: 1687.5 kg/ha; and D3: 2025 kg/ha) along with traditional fertilizer as a control (CK: 1687.5 kg/ha). The results indicated that the growth of sugarcane in the field was significantly influenced by the CRF application rate (p < 0.05). Compared with CK, the optimal field application of CRF was observed at D25, resulting in a 16.3% to 53.6% increase in sugarcane yield. Under the condition of reducing fertilizer application by 20%, D2 showed a 13.3% increase in stem yield and a 6.7% increase in sugar production. The bacterial ACE index exhibited significant differences between D25 and D1, while the Chao1 index showed significance among the D25, D1, and CK treatments. The dominant bacterial phyla in sugarcane rhizosphere aggregation included Proteobacteria, Actinobacteriota, and Acidobacteriota. Fungal phyla comprised Rozellomycota, Basidiomycota, and Ascomycota. The annotated metabolic pathways encompassed biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, carbohydrate metabolism, and lipid metabolism. Differential analysis and random forest selection identified distinctive biomarkers including Leotiomycetes, Cercospora, Anaeromyxobacter, isoleucyl-proline, and methylmalonic acid. Redundancy analysis unveiled soil pH, soil organic carbon, and available nitrogen as the primary drivers of microbial communities, while the metabolic profiles were notably influenced by the available potassium and phosphorus. The host cell membrane-associated RING-CH 8 protein (MARCH8), a member of the E3 ubiquitin ligase family, regulates intracellular turnover of many transmembrane proteins and shows potent antiviral activities. Generally, 2 antiviral modes are performed by MARCH8. On the one hand, MARCH8 catalyzes viral envelope glycoproteins (VEGs) ubiquitination and thus leads to their intracellular degradation, which is the cytoplasmic tail (CT)-dependent (CTD) mode. On the other hand, MARCH8 traps VEGs at some intracellular compartments (such as the trans-Golgi network, TGN) but without inducing their degradation, which is the cytoplasmic tail-independent (CTI) mode, by which MARCH8 hijacks furin, a cellular proprotein convertase, to block VEGs cleavage. In addition, the MARCH8 C-terminal tyrosine-based motif (TBM) 222YxxL225 also plays a key role in its CTI antiviral effects. In contrast to its antiviral potency, MARCH8 is occasionally hijacked by some viruses and bacteria to enhance their invasion, indicating a duplex role of MARCH8 in host pathogenic infections. Genomic instability is a common hallmark of human tumours. As a carrier of genetic information, DNA is constantly threatened by various damaging factors that, if not repaired in time, can affect the transmission of genetic information and lead to cellular carcinogenesis. In response to these threats, cells have evolved a range of DNA damage response mechanisms, including DNA damage repair, to maintain genomic stability. The X-ray repair cross-complementary gene family (XRCC) comprises an important class of DNA damage repair genes that encode proteins that play important roles in DNA single-strand breakage and DNA base damage repair. The dysfunction of the XRCC gene family is associated with the development of various tumours. In the context of tumours, mutations in XRCC and its aberrant expression, result in abnormal DNA damage repair, thus contributing to the malignant progression of tumour cells. In this review, we summarise the significant roles played by XRCC in diverse tumour types. In addition, we discuss the correlation between the XRCC family members and tumour therapeutic sensitivity. Messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccination has proven to be highly successful in combating Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and has recently sparked tremendous interest. This technology has been a popular topic of research over the past decade and is viewed as a promising treatment strategy for cancer immunotherapy. However, despite being the most prevalent malignant disease for women worldwide, breast cancer patients have limited access to immunotherapy benefits. mRNA vaccination has the potential to convert cold breast cancer into hot and expand the responders. Effective mRNA vaccine design for in vivo function requires consideration of vaccine targets, mRNA structures, transport vectors, and injection routes. This review provides an overview of pre-clinical and clinical data on various mRNA vaccination platforms used for breast cancer treatment and discusses potential approaches to combine appropriate vaccination platforms or other immunotherapies to improve mRNA vaccine therapy efficacy for breast cancer. Melt inclusions (MIs) in high‐temperature metamorphic rocks provide a unique window into crustal anatexis in collisional orogenic belts and have been widely used to characterize compositions of anatectic melts as well as melting mechanisms. In this study, MIs hosted by peritectic garnet were for the first time identified in an Al2SiO5‐free graywacke‐type paragneiss from the Namche Barwa Complex, the Eastern Himalaya, Southeast Tibet. These MIs occur as nanogranites in the rims of porphyroblastic garnet, exhibit negative crystal shapes with an average diameter of ~12 μm and consist of a mineral assemblage of biotite + quartz + plagioclase + K‐feldspar ± muscovite. Re‐homogenization experiments of these nanogranites were conducted at a pressure of 1.5 GPa and temperatures of 800°C, 850°C and 900°C and produced homogeneous glasses at 850°C. The homogenized glasses are strongly peraluminous and calc‐alkalic in composition, with 66.43–71.31 wt.% SiO2, 12.64–15.06 wt.% Al2O3, high alkaline (5.41–7.22 wt.%) and low ferromagnesian (2.72–4.46 wt.%) contents. They are lower in silica and CaO but higher in K2O compared with MI produced by fluid‐present melting of metasedimentary rocks, thus indicating fluid‐absent melting. These glasses are also characterized by enrichment of large ion lithophile elements (particularly Cs and Rb), depletion of Ba and Sr, low contents of light rare earth elements (3.6 to 33.7 ppm), high Rb/Sr ratios (6.19–37.3) and low Nb/Ta ratios (2.55–18.7). In combination with phase equilibrium modelling, these compositional features suggest that a sequential dehydration melting of muscovite and biotite was responsible for the production of MI during prograde metamorphism of the studied paragneiss. By compiling MI data published in the literature, we show that dehydration melting of metasedimentary rocks from the Himalayan orogen can produce initial melts with various peraluminous and granitic compositions. For realizing ultrasonic elliptical vibration-assisted cutting, a single excitation elliptical vibration system was proposed in this work, which was composed of a giant magnetostrictive transducer and an asymmetrical stepped ultrasonic horn with arc transition (ASUH). The dynamic simulation of the vibration system was carried out using ANSYS, the output end of the vibration system produced longitudinal and transverse vibrations simultaneously due to the ASUH at the resonant frequency, and the influence of the transition arc of the ASUH on the elliptical vibration performance of the vibration system was studied. The impedance, elliptical vibration trajectory of the output end, and output amplitude of the vibration system were tested experimentally. The results show that the actual resonant frequency of the vibration system was 20.708 kHz, the mechanical quality factor was 106, and the longitudinal amplitude was slightly greater than the transverse amplitude of the output end. Loss of neuromelanin in the midbrain is known in Parkinson's disease(PD), which can now be directly detected by neuromelanin-sensitive MRI(NM-MRI). This case-control study was to investigate the distribution of neuromelanin in the substantia nigra(SN) and the locus coeruleus(LC) using NM-MRI technique and evaluate its potential as a diagnostic marker for PD. 10 early PD patients(H&Y stage I, II), 11 progressive PD patients(H&Y stage III-V), and 10 healthy controls matched in age and gender were recruited. All participants completed clinical and psychometric assessments as well as NM-MRI scans. Neuromelanin signal intensities in SN and LC were measured by contrast-to-noise ratios(CNRs) derived from NM-MRI scans. There were significant decreases of CNRs in SNpc(including anterior, central, and posterior) and LC in PD patients compared to controls. There were also significant differences of CNR between the left and right sides. CNR in LC had a negative correlation with the Non-Motor Symptoms Scale(NMSS) score in PD patients(|R|=0.49), whereas CNR in SNpc did not correlate with Unified Parkinson Disease Rating Scale(UPDRS) score(|R|<0.3). The receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves revealed that the CNR in LC had a high diagnostic specificity of 90.1% in progressive patients. This study provides new evidence for the asymmetric distribution of neuromelanin in SN and the LC of patients with PD. The neuromelanin loss is bilateral and more predominately in LC than that in SN. This study aims to explore the potential use of low-cost ultraviolet-visible-near infrared (UV-Vis-NIR) spectroscopy to quantify adulteration content of soybean, rapeseed, corn and peanut oils in Camellia oil. To attain this aim, test oil samples were firstly prepared with different adulterant ratios ranging from 1% to 90% at varying intervals, and their spectra were collected by an in-house built experimental platform. Next, the spectra were preprocessed using Savitzky–Golay (SG)–Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) and the feature wavelengths were extracted using four different algorithms. Finally, Support Vector Regression (SVR) and Random Forest (RF) models were developed to rapidly predict adulteration content. The results indicated that SG–CWT with decomposition scale of 25 and the Iterative Variable Subset Optimization (IVSO) algorithm can effectively improve the accuracy of the models. Furthermore, the SVR model performed best for predicting adulteration of camellia oil with soybean oil, while the RF models were optimal for camellia oil adulterated with rapeseed, corn, or peanut oil. Additionally, we verified the models' robustness by examining the correlation between the absorbance and adulteration content at certain feature wavelengths screened by IVSO. Visible‐light‐induced photoreaction of carboranes is an effective approach to prepare carborane‐containing compounds. While several methods involving boron‐centered carboranyl radicals have been established, those for carbon‐centered carboranyl radicals are underdeveloped, except for the UV‐light‐promoted photohomolysis. Herein, we describe a simple but effective approach to access carbon‐centered carboranyl radicals by photoreduction of carborane phosphonium salts under blue light irradiation without using transition metals and photocatalysts. The utility of the method was demonstrated by successfully preparing a range of carborane‐oxindole‐pharmaceutical hybrids by radical cascade reactions. Computational and experimental studies suggest that the carbon‐centered carboranyl radicals are generated by single‐electron transfer of the photoactive charge‐transfer complexes between the salts and the additive potassium acetate. Background: Vasovagal syncope (VVS) is one of the most common causes of syncope. Traditional treatment has not achieved satisfactory results. The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility and efficacy of selective anatomical catheter ablation of left atrial ganglionated plexus (GP) as a therapeutic strategy for the patients of symptomatic VVS. Methods: A total of 70 patients with at least once recurrent syncopal episode of VVS with a positive head‐up tilt test were enrolled. They were divided into GP ablation group and control group. Patients in GP ablation group received anatomical catheter ablation of left superior ganglionated plexus (LSGP) and right anterior ganglionated plexus (RAGP). Patients in the control group were guideline‐directed conventional therapy. The primary endpoint was VVS recurrences. The secondary endpoint was the recurrence of syncope and prodrome events. Results: There were no statistical differences in clinical characteristics between the ablation group (n = 35) and the control group (n = 35). Over a follow‐up of 12 months, the ablation group had significantly lower syncope recurrence compared with the control group (5.7% vs. 25.7%, p =.02), and the ablation group had significantly lower syncope and prodrome recurrence compared with the control group (11.4% vs. 51.4%, p <.001). In GP ablation, 88.6% of the patients showed significant vagal response during LSGP ablation, and 88.6% of the patients showed significantly increased heart rate during RAGP ablation. Conclusions: For patients with recurrent VVS, selective anatomical catheter ablation of LSGP and RAGP is superior to conventional therapy in reducing syncope recurrence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Organic Rankine cycles (ORCs) have been widely used to convert medium-low-temperature geothermal energy to electricity. Proper cycle layout is generally determined by considering both the thermo-physical properties of the working fluid and the geothermal brine temperature. This work investigates saturated, superheated and supercritical ORCs using R1234yf/R236ea for brine temperatures of 383.15 K, 403.15 K and 423.15 K. The evaporation and condensation pressures were optimized to maximize the net power outputs. The thermodynamic characteristics of the cycles at the optimal conditions were analyzed. The saturated ORCs produced slightly more net power than superheated cycles for the R1234yf mole fraction less than 0.2 due to lower exergy losses in the evaporator and condenser; however, the limited evaporation pressure by the turning point at the higher R1234yf mole fraction led to excessive exergy losses in the evaporator. Two R1234yf mole fractions maximized the net power and exergy efficiency in a superheated cycle, with the maximum net power output occurring at the R1234yf mole fraction of 0.8 for brine temperatures of 383.15 K and 403.15 K. The exergy losses for evaporation were reduced by 6–12.7% due to the use of an IHE, while those for condensation were reduced up to 42% in a superheated cycle for a brine temperature of 423.15 K, resulting in a 1–17.8% increase in the exergy efficiency. A supercritical cycle with an IHE using R1234yf/R236ea (0.85/0.15) generated the maximum net power output for a brine temperature of 423.15 K, 8.2–17.5% higher than a superheated cycle with an IHE. Visual working memory includes both active, recallable items and latent items not directly available for recall. During the online manipulation of active working memory, latent items gain robust retention. According to the dissociation account, active and passive memories exist in independent states, both of which take up their own cognitive resources. However, it is unclear whether dissociation is a universal phenomenon during memory maintenance. Given that memory information is retained as a binding of identity and location, the spatial proximity of memory items might shield the dissociation property. To test this, we adopted a retro-cue memory task where the cued and uncued items were separated in the active and latent states. In Experiment 1, the memory items were presented at a relatively large spatial distance. The results supported the dissociation account for well-separated items. However, Experiment 2 rejected the dissociation for closer-in items, possibly because items in visual working memory were spatially labeled. These findings suggest that while memory maintenance generally conforms to the dissociation account, the spatial configuration of memory items can affect the dissociation property between the active and latent neural states in visual working memory. To improve the vibration performance of the Terfenol-D rod and make its work more efficient, six types of Terfenol-D rods were studied in this paper. The dynamic simulation analyses of the rods were carried out, and the core loss of the rods were calculated and analyzed. Three structures of rods were manufactured, and their output amplitude were tested. The results showed that an untreated rod had the highest resonance frequency, the largest mechanical quality factor, and the smallest output amplitude and outer surface stress; compared with the untreated rod, the resonant frequency and mechanical quality factor of the sliced and slit rods reduced, the output amplitude and outer surface stress of the sliced and slit rods increased; the resonant frequency and mechanical quality factor of the sliced rods were smaller than those of the slit rods; and the output amplitude and outer surface stress of the sliced rods were larger than those of the slit rods. The untreated rod had the largest core loss on the outer diameter surface; the core loss on the outer diameter surface of the sliced and slit rods reduced, and the core loss of sliced rods was less than that of slit rods. The radially slit rod had the largest overall core loss; the overall core loss of the radially cut and bonded rod and the sliced rods was less than that of the untreated rod and the radially slit rod.
