Nanocomposites have already been widely used to enhance thermoelectric performance since they exhibit exceptionally low lattice thermal conductivities. Further improvement is expected to arise from boosting the power factor and charge carrier relevant figure of merit ZT with nanoinclusions. Here we present that Ag nanoscale inclusions embedding in the n-PbTe can meet this requirement. The quantitative relationships between such nanostructures in PbTe and thermoelectric properties, using a versatile model including the details of geometry, electron–phonon interactions, quantization, and tunneling, showed that the Seebeck coefficient can be significantly enhanced due to interface potential barrier induced by Ag nanoinclusions. Additionally, it was found that high-concentration Ag nanoinclusions with 1–2 nm radius can effectively enhance the thermoelectric performance of PbTe through energy-selective carrier scattering, especially around room temperature. The power factor and charge carrier relevant figure of merit ZT can be elevated by at least 80% and 260%, respectively. Salt diapirs dominate the structure in many sedimentary basins and control the preservation and migration of hydrocarbon. The formation of salt diapirs generally falls into two endmember models: active (up-building) and passive (down-building) diapirism. In the active model, salt diapirs rise from salt buoyancy to pierce through the sedimentary overburden, whereas in the passive model, salt diapirs result from differential loading of sediments during deposition. These endmember models are mostly conceptual or kinematic, the mechanics of active and passive diapirism and their relative roles and interactions in the formation of salt diapirs remain uncertain. Here, we use two-dimensional high-resolution numerical models to investigate the primary factors and critical conditions for active and passive diapirism. Our results indicate that it is improper to use driving mechanisms to classify salt diapirs, because the buoyancy-driven active salt diapirism involves differential loading, while the passive diapirism requires salt buoyancy. The rise of salt diapirs is more sensitive to the effective viscosity of the overburden than to the salt viscosity. Stiff overburdens could prevent the rise of salt diapirs, but they could be pierced by salt diapirs if plastic yield of the overburden is allowed. During deposition, the coupled salt-sediment deformation, driven by both salt buoyancy and differential loading of sediments, can lead to various diapiric salt structures and minibasins. Regional tectonic stress generally promotes salt diapirism by enhancing strain weakening of salts and overburdens. We suggest that the classification of active and passive salt diapirism is an oversimplification in most cases. We propose a general model of the formation of salt diapirs that usually begins with dome initiation driven by salt buoyancy, followed by syndepositional down-building controlled by sedimentation and differential loading and ends with canopy formation when sedimentation stops. Secular trends of mortality and disability-adjusted life years (DALY) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) attributable to PM2.5 exposure in China remain unclear. This study applied the joinpoint regression analysis and age-period-cohort model to assess the secular trends. There was a slight alternation in age-standardized rate of mortality and DALY in the total population, while the changes were increased in males and decreased in females from 1990 to 2019. Meanwhile, the changes attributable to ambient particular matter pollution exposure (APE) increased significantly and reduced household air pollution from solid fuels exposure (HPE). Longitudinal age curves showed that T2DM mortality and DALY increased with age. Period rate ratios (RR) attributable to APE increased but fell to HPE. Similar trends were observed in the cohort RR. PM2.5 exposure is more harmful to males and older people. The type of air pollution responsible for T2DM has changed from HPE to APE. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Piezoresistive pressure sensors have broad applications but often face accuracy challenges due to temperature-induced drift. Traditional compensation methods based on discrete data, such as polynomial interpolation, support vector machine (SVM), and artificial neural network (ANN), overlook the thermal hysteresis, resulting in lower accuracy. Considering the sequence-dependent nature of temperature drift, we propose the RF-IWOA-GRU temperature compensation model. Random forest (RF) is used to interpolate missing values in continuous data. A combination of gated recurrent unit (GRU) networks and an improved whale optimization algorithm (IWOA) is employed for temperature compensation. This model leverages the memory capability of GRU and the optimization efficiency of the IWOA to enhance the accuracy and stability of the pressure sensors. To validate the compensation method, experiments were designed under continuous variations in temperature and actual pressure. The experimental results show that the compensation capability of the proposed RF-IWOA-GRU model significantly outperforms that of traditional methods. After compensation, the standard deviation of pressure decreased from 10.18 kPa to 1.14 kPa, and the mean absolute error and root mean squared error were reduced by 75.10% and 76.15%, respectively. To reveal the temperature change caused by friction between the wall of coring tube and coal seam during coring process, and to study the gas diffusion law of coal core during real coring process, the temperature field test of the wall of coring tube during coring process and the simulation test of gas diffusion law during coring tube under different conditions are carried out in this paper. The results show that the temperature changes in coring process are mainly divided into slow heating stage, fast heating stage and slow cooling stage. Three groups of simulation tests were set up for simulating the gas diffusion law in the core of the coring tube: under the same gas pressure, the desorption amount of gas in the core is less than that in the coring process at the constant ambient temperature; under the same gas pressure and the heating rate of the tube wall, the greater the coring depth, the greater the desorption amount of gas in the core. The main factor affecting the gas loss is time. Under the same core gas pressure and core depth, the gas desorption capacity increases with the increase of wall temperature rising rate. In the field measurement of gas content in coal seam, the temperature of coal core should be lowered as much as possible and the coring time should be reduced, so as to restrain the loss of gas content and improve the accuracy of gas content determination.
