There are some concerns about the safety of live attenuated yellow fever vaccines (YF–live), particularly viscerotropic adverse events, which have a high mortality rate. The cellular production of the vaccine will not cause these adverse effects and has the potential to extend applicability to those who have allergic reactions, immunosuppression, and age. In this study, inactivated yellow fever (YF) was prepared and adsorbed with Alum/CpG. The cellular and humoral immunities were investigated in a mouse model. The results showed that Alum/CpG (20 μg/mL) could significantly increase the binding and neutralizing activities of the antibodies against YF. Moreover, the antibody level at day 28 after one dose was similar to that of the attenuated vaccine, but significantly higher after two doses. Based on current specifications, a modified bond test considering the effect of cyclic temperature is proposed to test and quantitatively evaluate the bonding performance of hot applied sealants. Innovatively, the modified bond test simulates the effect of cyclic temperature by designing a hot-cold cycle procedure. Based on hot-cold cycle procedure, new indexes, maximum tensile stress (σn) and tensile separation stiffness (Kn), are proposed for further analysis. Based on the modified bond test, a corresponding new evaluation method is established. The maximum tensile stress should meet the minimum bond strength requirement. The tensile separation stiffness increase (ΔK) is adopted as a quantitative evaluation index for the bonding performance of sealants. Finally, the current specification bond test and the modified bond test are performed on three sealants and the differences between these two tests are compared, the rationality and practicality of the modified test and new evaluation method are verified. With the development of modern technology, the functions of smart windows are expected to be more abundant apart from reducing energy consumption. A viable and popular solution is to develop a versatile product. Here a multi‐functional tandem device enabled by ionic gels to form a smart glass that can be applied in manifold scenarios, is reported. The ionic gels successfully fulfill the multiple tasks of simultaneously being electrolytes, ion storage medium, as well as transparent electrodes, and help heighten the overall transparency of the devices. The novel tandem configuration simply consists of five stacking functional layers and is universal for DC‐driven electrochromic and AC‐driven electroluminescent sub‐devices. The newly‐developed devices demonstrate magnificent characteristics of high and tunable transparency (0–77%), selective infrared shielding ability, diversified displaying and decoration, excellent stability (3000 cycles), and even flexibility. Multifarious application scenarios of the structure in diversified device forms are proposed and presented. The proposed device architecture provides a facile methodology to fabricate functional devices and will provoke infinite novel ideas for developing the next‐generation smart windows. Photocatalytic technology is currently the most promising technology for environmental pollution control. The preparation of photocatalysts with excellent properties is the core of the development of photocatalytic technology. TiO2 can form a heterojunction with g-C3N4, which can effectively inhibit the recombination of photogenerated electron–hole pairs, improve the mobility of photogenerated carriers, and thus improve the photocatalytic performance. In this study, NaCl was used as a template, and the loose and porous g-C3N4/TiO2 heterojunction composite photocatalysts were prepared by the template method. Compared to the pure g-C3N4 prepared by the conventional thermal polycondensation method and TiO2, the g-C3N4/TiO2 heterojunction composite photocatalysts prepared in this study exhibited a greatly increased specific surface area, an improved light absorption performance, a significantly suppressed recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes. Furthermore, the g-C3N4/TiO2 heterojunction composite photocatalysts exhibited excellent photocatalytic performance. In order to develop efficient and earth-abundant catalysts for large-scale hydrogen evolution via water splitting, a Ni/Ni(OH)2 dual composition electrocatalyst was manufactured via a two-step electrodeposition procedure. The stepwise fabricated 3D hierarchical nanoarrays as well as the concurrent dual composition electrodeposition yielded a papillae-like hybrid crystal structure. The high electrochemically active surface area, defect-rich hybrid crystal structure, and synergistic effects of the dual composition provided an elevated catalytic performance. Only 53 mV overpotential was needed to deliver a current density of 10 mA cm−2 with a small Tafel slope of 54.5 mV dec−1 to catalyze the HER in alkaline media. Approximately 81% catalytic activity could be maintained after 20 h of continuous testing, demonstrating long-term stability. Our findings offer an efficient approach to design and fabricate efficient noble-metal-free alkaline HER electrocatalysts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The fabrication of non‐noble element electrocatalysts with comparable catalytic activity with Pt‐based materials is in great requirements for water splitting to achieve sustainable hydrogen production. Cu2S/MoS2 heterojunction nanorod arrays on copper foam were prepared for this purpose. The nitrogen doping was achieved in situ. HRTEM, SEM, XPS and EDX verified the heterojunction interfacial texture and the defect‐rich nanoarray configuration. The heterojunction interfacial texture, the defect rich configuration and the outward active sites optimized the structure required as a high‐efficient hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) electrocatalyst. As a result, the charge transfer resistance of the nanoarrays was estimated to be 5.4 Ω at −200 mV versus RHE, even lower than both the precursors. The electrochemical double layer capacitance was 49.95 mF cm−2, which was higher than both the precursors. The Cu2S/MoS2 heterojunction nanoarrays‐like electrocatalyst exhibited significant performance with a low overpotential (91 mV at 10 mA cm−2) and a small Tafel slope (41 mV dec−1) in alkaline electrolyte with 85.3 % retained ability after 1000 cycle runs. This work paves a road for developing high‐performance HER electrocatalysts. His and HER: Nitrogen doped Cu2S/MoS2 heterojunction nanorod arrays grafted on copper foam in situ have been created for efficient hydrogen evolution reaction. Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a hematologic malignancy originating from BCR-ABL oncogene-transformed hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) known as leukemia stem cells (LSCs). Therefore, targeting LSCs is of primary importance to eradicate CML. The present study demonstrates that picropodophyllin (PPP) effectively induces apoptosis and inhibits colony formation in CML stem/progenitor cells as well as quiescent CML progenitors resistant to imatinib therapy, while sparing normal hematopoietic cells in vitro. Administration of PPP in vivo markedly diminishes CML stem/progenitor cells in a transgenic mouse model of CML by inhibition of cell proliferation and enhancement of apoptosis in LSK cells, and significantly improves survival of CML mice. Furthermore, PPP treatment preferentially leads to transcriptional activation of p53 in CML but not normal CD34+ cells, upregulation of p53 protein in LSCs-enriched Sca-1+ cells from CML mice, and increased phosphorylation of p53 and upregulation of Bax protein in Ku812 cells. These results suggest that the inhibitory effects of PPP on CML stem/progenitor cells are associated with selective activation of p53 pathway and propose that PPP is a potent agent that selectively targets CML LSCs, and may be of value in the CML therapy. • PPP induced apoptosis and suppressed CFC in CML stem/progenitor cells in vitro. • PPP diminished CML stem/progenitor cells and improved survival in a CML mouse model. • PPP preferentially activated p53 pathway in CML but not normal CD34+ cells. Introduction: Previous studies have demonstrated that frailty is associated with depressive symptoms among older people and significantly increase the risk of difficulty in activities of daily living (ADL). However, uncertainties remain regarding the mechanisms behind such relationship. The aim of this study was to investigate the mediating effect of ADL in the relationship between frailty and depressive symptoms among older adults in China, and to explore to what extend sleep duration moderated the association between ADL and depressive symptoms., Methods: In this study, we carried out cross-sectional descriptive analysis and 1,429 participants were included in the analysis. A survey was conducted using questionnaires and instruments measuring frailty, depressive symptoms, ADL and sleep duration. Bootstrap analyses served to explore the impact of ADL in mediating frailty and depressed symptoms, as well as the effect of sleep duration in moderating ADL and depressive symptoms., Results: Compared to the robust group, the mediating effects of ADL between frailty and depressive symptoms were significant in the prefrail group and the frail group. The interaction term between sleep duration and ADL was significantly presented in the regression on depressive symptoms. Specifically, the Johnson-Neyman technique determined a range from 8.31 to 10.19 h for sleep duration, within which the detrimental effect of frailty on depressive symptoms was offset., Conclusion: Sleep duration moderated the indirect effect of ADL on the association between frailty and depressive symptoms. This provides support for unraveling the underlying mechanism of the association between frailty and depressive symptoms. Increasing nitrogen (N) input is essential to satisfy the rising global wheat demand, but this increases nitrous oxide (N 2 O) emissions, thereby exacerbating global climate change. Higher yields accompanied by reduced N 2 O emissions are essential to synergistically reduce greenhouse warming and ensure global food security. In this study, we conducted a trial using two sowing patterns (conventional drilling sowing [CD] and wide belt sowing [WB], with seedling belt widths of 2-3 and 8-10 cm, respectively) with four N rates (0, 168, 240, and 312 kg ha -1 , hereafter N0, N168, N240, and N312, respectively) during the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 growing seasons. We investigated the impacts of growing season, sowing pattern, and N rate on N 2 O emissions, N 2 O emissions factors (EFs), global warming potential (GWP), yield-scaled N 2 O emissions, grain yield, N use efficiency (NUE), plant N uptake and soil inorganic N concentrations at jointing, anthesis, and maturity. The results showed that sowing pattern and N rate interactions influenced the N 2 O emissions markedly. Compared to CD, WB significantly reduced cumulative N 2 O emissions, N 2 O EFs, GWP, and yield-scaled N 2 O emissions for N168, N240, and N312, with the largest reduction seen at N312. Furthermore, WB markedly improved plant N uptake and reduced soil inorganic N compared to CD at each N rate. Correlation analyses indicated that WB mitigated the N 2 O emissions at various N rates mainly through efficient N uptake and reduced soil inorganic N. The highest grain yield occurred under a combination of WB and N312, under which the yield-scaled N 2 O emissions were equal to the local management (sowing with CD at N240).
