Många miljöproblem som existerar idag kan kopplas till konsumenter och deras köpbeteenden som har en direkt påverkan på flera delar av miljön. Klädkonsumtion har ökat dramatiskt under senare år och fortsätter att växa. Att engagera sig hållbart handlar inte endast om att göra gröna val, utan också hur man gör sig av med kläder man inte vill ha längre på bästa sätt. Detta blir avgörande för att samhället ska kunna fortsätta försörja framtida generationer utan att förbruka jordens resurser helt. Genom att veta hur man återvinner plagg samt handlar secondhand är ett sätt att engagera sig i en mer hållbar konsumtion ger både miljömässiga och ekonomiska fördelar. Underkläder är en klädkategori av flera som oftast hamnar mellan stolarna när man diskuterar återvinning av kläder. Denna studie ämnar undersöka vad kvinnor i Sverige gör idag när det kommer till konsumtion och att göra sig av med underkläder samt vilka motiv, orsaker och attityder som står bakom deras handlingar. Resultatet visar att majoriteten slänger sina underkläder i hushållssoporna och att de anser att det är svårt att återvinna underkläder. Den grupp som redan återvinner underkläder uttrycker att det är främst på grund av miljöskäl man gör det och upplever inte att det är svårt att återvinna. Inställningen och attityden till återvinning av underkläder visade att man tycker att det är bra för miljön att återvinna underkläder. Dessutom visar resultatet att majoriteten aldrig handlat underkläder secondhand tidigare. Orsaken till detta är för att det anses vara ohygieniskt. Däremot var man positivt inställd till att återanvändning av underkläder är relaterat till att det är bra för miljön och att det är ekonomiskt att handla underkläder secondhand än att köpa nyproducerat. Hur omgivningen uppfattar second hand-underkläder påverkade även respondenternas inställning. För att få fler att kunna tänka sig att handla underkläder secondhand framför nyproducerade krävs förändringar i attityd, upplevd kontroll och sociala normer. Fortsättningsvis krävs även större kunskapsspridning om relationen mellan kläder (underkläder) och miljö samt bättre planeringar och lösningar på hur man ska samla in trasiga och nedfläckade underkläder på ett mer effektivt sätt. Many of the environmental problems that exist today can be connected to consumer behavior that directly impacts many parts of the environment. Clothing consumption has throughout the year increased dramatically and continues to grow. Engaging sustainably is not only about making green choices but also how to dispose of unwanted clothes in the best way possible. Which is vital to support future generations without depleting the earth’s resources. Knowing how to recycle and reuse clothes is one way to engage in a more sustainable consumption in resource-saving and financial favorability. Lingerie is often a category of clothing that falls between two chairs when discussing the recycling of clothes. This study aims to examine what women in Sweden today do when buying and getting rid of lingerie and what motives, reasons, and attitudes stand behind their actions. The result shows that the majority throw their lingerie in the household trash bin and that they experience it is difficult to recycle underwear. The other group that already recycles their underwear does it because of environmental reasons and claims that they do not find it hard to recycle. However, the attitude towards recycling underwear remains positive among everyone. In addition, the result shows that the majority has never bought lingerie secondhand before. The reason for this is that it is perceived to be unhygienic. The attitude remains positive towards that reuse of underwear is good for the environment and that it is more economic to buy underwear secondhand rather than newly produced. How the surroundings perceive secondhand underwear affects their attitude towards buying secondhand underwear. In order to increase the consumption of lingerie secondhand rather than buying newly produced ones, bigger changes are needed to change attitudes, perceived control and social norms. A bigger spread of knowledge about the relation between clothing (lingerie) and environment is needed and better solutions in collecting damaged and stained underwear more effectively.

We analyze the effect of China's integration into the world economy on workers in the country and show that one important channel of impact has been internal migration. Specifically, we study the changes in internal migration rates triggered by the reduction in trade policy uncertainty faced by Chinese exporters in the U.S. This reduction is characterized by plausibly exogenous variation across sectors, which we use to construct a local measure of treatment, at the level of a Chinese prefecture, following Bartik (1991). This allows us to estimate a difference-in-difference empirical specification based on variation across Chinese prefectures before and after 2001. We find that prefectures facing the average decline in trade policy uncertainty experience an 18 percent increase in their internal in-migration rate – this result is driven by migrants who are "non-hukou", skilled, and in their prime working age. Finally, in those prefectures, working hours of "native" unskilled workers significantly increase – while the employment rates of neither native workers nor internal migrants change.
