A lattice-filled multicellular square tube features a regular cross-sectional shape, good energy consumption, and good crashworthiness, which is suitable for the design of energy absorbers in various protection fields such as automobiles, aerospace, bridges, etc. Based on the super folding theory, two reference planes are set to refine the energy consumption zone of the super folding element in this study. The energy consumption calculation of convex panel stretching is involved, and the critical crushing force formula is introduced in this study. Meanwhile, the calculation method from a single-cell square tube to a multicellular thin-walled square tube is extended and the structural optimization is investigated, in which the NSGAII algorithm is used to obtain the Pareto front (PF) of the crashworthiness performance index of the square multicellular tubes, the Normal Boundary Intersection (NBI) method is adopted to select knee points, and the influence of different cross-sectional widths on the number, as well as the thickness, of cells are discussed. This study's results indicate that the theoretical value is consistent with that obtained from the numerical simulation, meaning that the improved theoretical model can be applied to predict the crashworthiness of multicellular square cross-sectional tubes. The positron source is one of the most important parts of the circular electron–positron collider (CEPC) linear accelerator. The design goal is to obtain a 3 nC bunch charge positron beam from a 4 GeV primary electron beam with an intensity of 10 nC/bunch. In this study, an all-solid-state, high-current pulse power system was developed to drive a flux concentrator to capture positrons by generating a magnetic field with a peak value of 6 T. Based on the inductive load topology circuit, the optimized parameters were designed to generate a pulse current with a high peak value and a high rise rate pulse current. In addition, a non-reverse voltage was realized to protect the solid-state switch components. For the characteristics of the long-distance transmission between the pulse power supply and the load in the system, the influences of the cable distribution parameters on the pulse were analyzed, and the design of the damping circuit was proposed to suppress the high-frequency ripples of the peak pulse current. An optimized coaxial discharge structure was designed to reduce the stray parameters in the main circuit. The design was verified through simulations and experiments, and the results demonstrated that the developed prototype successfully generated an ideal half-sinusoidal pulse current with a peak value of 15 kA, and a front pulsewidth of $2.5 ~\mu \text{s}$ at a repetition rate of 50 Hz. The pulse repetition stability is better than 0.1%. The final output was consistent with the theoretical analysis. Background: Triglyceride glucose-body mass index (TyG-BMI) has been proven to be a reliable substitute for insulin resistance. However, whether a causal association exists between TyG-BMI and new-onset diabetes remains uncertain. The purpose of this study was to investigate the causal association and predictive performance between TyG-BMI and diabetes. Methods: A total of 116,661 subjects who underwent a physical examination were included in this study. The subjects were divided into five equal points according to the quintile of TyG-BMI, and the outcome of interest was the occurrence of diabetic events. TyG-BMI = ln [fasting plasma glucose (mg/dL) × fasting triglycerides (mg/dL)/2] × BMI. Results: During the average follow-up period of 3.1 (0.95) years, 1888 men (1.61 %) and 793 women (0.68 %) were newly diagnosed with diabetes. Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that TyG-BMI was an independent predictor of new-onset diabetes (HR 1.50 per SD increase, 95 %CI: 1.40 to 1.60, P-trend < 0.00001), and the best TyG-BMI cutoff value for predicting new-onset diabetes was 213.2966 (area under the curve 0.7741, sensitivity 72.51 %, specificity 69.54 %). Additionally, the results of subgroup analysis suggested that the risk of TyG-BMI-related diabetes in young and middle-aged people was significantly higher than that in middle-aged and elderly people, and the risk of TyG-BMI-related diabetes in non-obese people was significantly higher than that in overweight and obese people (P for interaction < 0.05). Conclusions: This cohort study of the Chinese population shows that after excluding other confounding factors, there is a causal association of TyG-BMI with diabetes, and this independent association is more obvious in young, middle-aged and non-obese people. More than 100 million tons of tight oil reserves have been discovered in the Xin’anbian area of the Ordos basin in recent years, of which the main reservoir is the Chang-7 Member of the Yanchang Formation. To identify the characteristics of the tight sandstone reservoir and their the development of the Chang-7 Member in the study area, casting thin sections, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high-pressure mercury injection, cathodoluminescence and other technical methods were used to analyze the reservoir rock types and their physical properties and pore structure. Based on reservoir diagenesis research and quantitative evaluations of reservoir pores, a reservoir pore evolution mode was established. The results showed that the main rock types in the tight sandstone reservoirs in the Chang-7 Member of the Xin’anbian area were lithic feldspathic sandstone and feldspathic detritus sandstone and that the reservoir space types were mainly feldspar dissolved pores, with a few residual intergranular pores, clay intercrystalline pores, and microfractures. The reservoirs were classified as having low porosity and low permeability and extra-low porosity and extra-low permeability. The porosity and permeability of the reservoirs were between 4 ~ 10% and 0.01 ~ 1 mD, respectively, and were mainly controlled by compaction, cementation, and dissolution. Compaction and cementation reduced the porosity and permeability, while dissolution increased the porosity and permeability. The Chang-7 Member reservoir mainly experienced weak-medium compaction, medium-strong cementation, and different degrees of dissolution. The average loss of porosity due to cementation was around 25%, while the average loss due to compaction was around 13%. This research determined four key stages in the porosity evolution of the Chang-7 Member in the study area: (1) the porosity was reduced to 26% from the Triassic to the Early Jurassic period, which was mainly due to compression compaction; (2) the reservoir was seriously damaged by cementation from the Middle Jurassic to Late Jurassic period, where the porosity decreased to 5%; (3) in the Early Cretaceous period, the porosity increased to 11% due to dissolution; and (4) the porosity was reduced to 7% from the late Early Cretaceous to early Late Cretaceous period, which was mainly due to cementation. The effect of the wave-induced Stokes drift is not taken into account in traditional ocean circulation models used for SST simulations. The spectral parameterization scheme is considered to be the most accurate of the wave-induced Stokes drift calculation schemes. The numerical simulation results of sea surface temperature (SST) with the Stokes drift and SST without the Stokes drift in the North Pacific in 2014 were analyzed. The Stokes drift plays a cooling role in the North Pacific, and the most affected areas are high-latitude sea areas. The following factors are responsible for cooling: the seawater divergence caused by Stokes transport, changes in the sea surface current field caused by the Coriolis-Stokes force and the effects of turbulence caused by Langmuir circulation. The simulation of the vertical temperature profile in the mixed layer is improved when the Stokes drift is accounted for. The simulated results of SST using the Stokes drift approximate parameterization schemes and the spectral parameterization scheme are compared. The results confirm that the spectral parameterization scheme can be used for accurate SST simulation, and the Phillips spectrum approximate parameterization scheme is the best among the approximate parameterization schemes. This study investigates the characteristics of the heterogeneous carbonate reservoir of Majiagou Formation in Jingxi area, Ordos Basin, China, to explain the diagenetic control and distribution of high‐quality reservoir intervals. The carbonates of the study area mainly consist of silt‐sized crystalline dolomite, microcrystalline dolomite, and microcrystalline limey dolomite. Both dolomite content and dolomite size gradually decrease both from top to bottom and from slope to basin. Intercrystalline pores exist in the silt‐sized crystalline dolomite, and vuggy pores and fractures mainly developed in microcrystalline (limey) dolomite. Furthermore, typical geopetal infills and three stages of calcite cements could be differentiated. Based on petrographical and geochemical analysis, the reservoir is dominantly controlled by seepage reflux dolomitization and telogenetic karstification. Four reservoir evolutions could be differentiated. The reservoir in the first model is dominated by intercrystal porosity occurring in silt‐sized crystalline dolostone. It experienced strong dolomitization, telogenetic karstification, and shallow as well as deep burial cementation. The reservoir in the second model consists of only a small amount of high‐angle dissolution fissures and vertical dissolution cavities in microcrystalline (limey) dolostone. It experienced relatively weak dolomitization, strong telogenetic karstification, and two important calcite cementation events. The reservoir in the third model is marked by many vuggy pores and dissolution fractures, occurring in microcrystalline (limey) dolostone. The strata experienced relatively weak dolomitization, strong telogenetic karstification, and two weak calcite cementation episodes. The reservoir in the fourth model is dominated by fractures and their related dissolution pores, which developed in microcrystalline (limey) dolostone. These dolostones experienced relatively weak dolomitization, telogenetic karstification, and calcite cementation. From a reservoir point of view, the reservoirs represented by the first and third models, which respectively are composed of silt‐sized crystalline dolomite occurring in the top of the whole dolostone succession and the dolomite affected by telogenetic karstification, are the most vital exploration targets. The meteoric diagenetic environment has multiphase characteristic, but the scales of the reservoirs in different meteoric diagenetic environments have been rarely considered. On the basis of geological and well-logging analyses, three distinct phases of the meteoric diagenetic process were observed in the Ordovician of the Jingxi area in Ordos Basin, China. The phreatic zone formed in the first phase is partially preserved, whereas those formed in the second and third phases are completely retained. Strata in the western (close to the Central Uplift Belt) and eastern parts underwent bedding-parallel meteoric dissolution and cross-layer meteoric dissolution, respectively. The distributions of the dissolution formation thicknesses in two successive phases of the meteoric diagenetic process exhibit complementarity at the same positions in the plane. The favorable reservoirs at the top of the Ordovician are mainly distributed in the western parts. The second phase of the meteoric diagenetic process is most conducive to the formation of carbonate reservoirs. By dividing and comparing the multiphases of the meteoric diagenetic environment of carbonates, the favorable karst reservoirs can be predicted in each phase. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Fouling and frosting of the outdoor coil in an air source heat pump (ASHP) unit are common but undesirable operating problems. At an increased level of air pollution, fouling of an outdoor coil becomes increasingly severe during its space cooling operation in summer and may potentially impact its frosting operation in winter. This paper reports on a field study on the operating performances of a space heating ASHP unit with a foul outdoor coil as a result of a prolonged cooling operation. Firstly, a detailed description of the field ASHP unit with the foul outdoor coil and test cases is given. Secondly, field study results for the test cases and their analyses are presented. The results demonstrate that fouling of an outdoor coil during its space cooling operation in summer can significantly impact its frosting performance during its space heating operation in winter. The research on cementation periods of deep marine carbonate reservoirs has significance to understand multiphase fluid activities and pore evolution history. Taking the Changxing Formation of the Yuanba area in northeast Sichuan Basin as a case, the formation and distribution characteristics of the reservoir cements were investigated by microscopic observation and fluid inclusions. The results show that the reservoir cements in the Changxing Formation are mainly distributed in intragranular pores, intergranular pores, and fractures in allochemical dolomites and dolomitic biolithite limestones. The cementation of reservoirs can be divided into four periods. In the first period, the intragranular calcite cements and a few non-transformed intergranular calcite cements occurred, which give out dark light or no light under cathodoluminescence, and they had low contents of Fe, Mn, and Ba, and formed in the shallow diagenetic environment. In the second period, the dolomite cements in intergranular pores and fractures occurred, which mainly give out bright light under cathodoluminescence, and they had relatively high contents of Fe, Mn, and S, and relatively low contents of K + Na, Sr, and Ba, and high homogenization temperatures of fluid inclusion, indicating that the cements formed in the middle burial diagenetic environment in early Middle Jurassic. In the third period, the intergranular calcite cements and fracture calcite cements occurred, which mainly give out dark light or no light under cathodoluminescence, and they had high contents of K + Na, Ba, and S, and wide homogenization temperature of fluid inclusion, indicating that the cements formed in the middle-deep burial diagenetic environment in middle-late Middle Jurassic. In the fourth period, the pyrite, quartz, rutile, and strontium minerals occurred, with symbiotic relationship, and they give out no light under cathodoluminescence, and formed in the deep burial environment, perhaps, in the hydrothermal environment. We clarified three stages of dolomitization and secondary changes by studying the petrology and geochemistry characteristics of dolomite from the Ma55-Ma510 sub-members of the Ordovician Majiagou Formation in the Jingxi area in the Ordos Basin: (1) Syngenetic microbial dolomitization is characterized by formation of dolomite with a mainly micrite structure and horse tooth-shape dolomite cements. (2) Seepage reflux dolomitization during the penecontemporaneous period superposed adjustment functions such as recrystallization and stabilization in the middle-deep burial stage, forming dolomites mainly consisting of micro crystal and powder crystal structure. (3) Powder dolomite, fine dolomite, and medium-coarse crystalline dolomite formed in pores and fractures in the middle-deep burial stage. The secondary concussive transgression-regression under a regressive background is an important condition for the occurrence of many stages of dolomitization in the study area. The basin was an occlusive epicontinental sea environment in the Ma5 member of the Ordovician Majiagou Formation sedimentary period. In the sediments, sulfate content was high, which is conducive to the preservation of microbial activity and microbial dolomitization. Micritic dolomite formed by microbial dolomitization provides good migration pathways for seepage reflux dolomitization. Affected by evaporation seawater with increased Mg/Ca ratio, seepage reflux dolomitization was widely developed and formed large-scale dolomite, and underwater uplifts and slopes are favorable areas for dolomite. In the middle-deep burial stage, dolomitizing fluid in the stratum recrystallized or stabilized the previous dolomite and formed a small amount of euhedral dolomite in the pores and fractures. Defrosting under unnecessary conditions is a typical and undesirable operating phenomenon for air source heat pump (ASHP). This paper aims to evaluate the ASHP performance under unnecessary defrosting phenomena in different regions of China. Firstly, energy loss for two kinds of unnecessary defrosting phenomena was quantified by 60 days field test. Secondly, a method was developed to predict unnecessary defrosting times. The prediction accuracy can be controlled within 10%. Furthermore, the ASHP performance of unnecessary defrosting was evaluated for nine typical cities in China. It was found that the average unnecessary defrosting rate was 53% for northern cities, 38% for mid-land cities, and 15% for southern cities during a heating season. Correspondingly, the total energy loss was 233 MJkW −1 , 161 MJkW −1 , and 44 MJkW −1 . These results indicate that unnecessary defrosting processes should not have been ignored. Pores and throats are the key parameters for determining the pore structure and fluid flow behavior in tight sandstone reservoirs. In this paper, pores and throats of the tight sandstone reservoir of the Upper Triassic Xujiahe Formation in the northern Sichuan Basin were investigated using classical petrography, scanning electron microscopy, and confocal laser scanning microscopy. In addition, a method of pore as well as throat identification and quantitatification using high-pressure mercury injection (HPMI) measurements was worked out. The results show that clay mineral-related pores are well developed in lithic sandstone and feldspathic lithic sandstone in addition to pores produced by dissolution of calcite cement and clastic grains. Intergranular pores are connected by lamellar, curved lamellar, and narrow pore throats. The pores and throats associated with intragranular dissolution and clay minerals are mostly tube shaped. The rapid-increasing and slow-increasing profiles of the mercury injection curves represent the dominance of pores and throats, respectively, allowing to differentiate pores and throats. Calculations show, in addition to fractured lithic sandstone, that has micron-sized pore–throat systems, the other lithic sandstones possess dominatly nano-sized pore–throat systems. In case of feldspathic lithic sandstones, micron-sized and nano-sized pore throat systems are equally important. In micron-sized pore throat dominated reservoirs, the pore volume is slightly larger than the throat volume, whereas for the nano-sized pore throat system, the pore volume is considerably larger than the throat volume. The key factors that are favorable for the formation of lithic sandstone pore throat systems are early calcite dissolution, lithic fragments dissolution, and early chlorite cementation. Pore structure is the key factor to control the quality and fluid flow of ultra-tight reservoir. The relationship between rock types, pore types, and pore sizes of ultra-tight sandstone reservoirs was identified by observing microscopic characteristics under a polarizing microscope and scanning electron microscope (SEM) and quantitively assessed using high-pressure mercury intrusion (HPMI) and fractal theory. By a comparative analysis of lithic sandstone and feldspar lithic sandstone reservoirs of Upper Triassic Xujiahe Formation of the Northern Sichuan Basin, we found that the pore type of the ultra-tight sandstone reservoir was linked to the rock type. Argillaceous lithic sandstone minly generates fracture pores, while fine-grained lithic sandstone and feldspar lithic sandstone formed dissolved pores by dissolution of carbonate cement, rock debris, and feldspar particles. Meanwhile, clay minerals such as kaolinite and chlorite in the reservoir possess pores between clay platelets and intraplatelet pores within clay aggregates, which are important pore types for ultra–tight sandstone reservoirs. A method to divided intervals of pore size distribution was proposed using high-pressure mercury intrusion (HPMI), and three intervals of pore diameter distribution were observed: 10–40 nm, 40 nm–1 μm, and 1–100 μm, which is largely controlled by pore type. The reservoir with only fracture pores is a one–interval reservoir with pore diameter in the range of 1–100 μm, while the reservoirs with dissolved pores and clay mineral-related pores have the above three intervals. Meanwhile, the fractal of pores in different scale range is different, and the larger the pore size, the stronger is the reservoir heterogeneity. A treelike pore structure model can be utilized to define pore development features in ultra–tight sandstone reservoirs. Micron–scale pores with diameters of 1–100 μm is mostly made up of fractures, cement and particle dissolution pores. However, nano–scale pores in the range of 40 nm–1 μm and 10–40 nm are predominantly pores formed between clay platelets and intraplatelet pores within clay aggregates, respectively. • Rock type, pore type, and pore size of ultra-tight sandstone reservoirs have a close relationship. • Pores between clay platelets and pores within clay aggregates are essential pore types in ultra-tight sandstones. • Three intervals of pore distribution were divided using high-pressure mercury intrusion (HPMI). • The heterogeneity of pores in ultra-tight reservoirs is mostly dictated by pore size and fractures. The current study presents the development process and initial validation of a measure designed for assessing psychological needs satisfaction in a secondary school physical education context (Psychological Needs Satisfaction Scale in Physical Education, PNSSPE). Junior secondary school (grades 7 to 9) students (N = 1,258) were invited to participate in three studies. In Study 1, item generation (34 items) and initial content validity of the PNSSPE were achieved. In Study 2, the factorial structure of the PNSSPE was tested using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. Internal consistency reliabilities of the subscales were also examined. In Study 3, the reliability and validity of the scores derived from the PNSSPE were further examined in an independent sample. Overall, the PNSSPE demonstrated good content, factorial, discriminant, and nomological validities. It also demonstrated acceptable internal consistency and test–retest reliability. The measurement model was proven invariant across gender and samples. Psychometric evidence from a series of studies suggests that the PNSSPE could be used as a reliable and valid measure to assess Hong Kong secondary school students’ satisfaction of psychological needs in physical education. Based on a thermal pressure simulation experiment under formation conditions, we found that hydrocarbon generation in organic-rich shales can result in extreme overpressure, and that the key factor controlling such overpressure is gas rather than oil. Our experiment was conducted under formation conditions using organic-rich shale samples from the Upper Triassic Chang 7 member of the southern of Ordos Basin with the goal of exploring the overpressure caused by hydrocarbon generation. The results showed that hydrothermal pressures at 73–130 °C ranged from 5.6 to 49 MPa, while those at simulated temperatures of 300–425 °C and vitrinite reflectances of 0.71–1.99% ranged from 23.5 to 116.1 MPa when the system was completely closed. The weights of oil and gas generated in every stage of the experiment were similar, but the volume of gas was up to 1720 times greater than that of oil. The correlation between the volume of oil generated and hydrocarbon generation pressure was poor, but the increased volumes of oil-associated gas during the oil generation stage and gas in the gas generation stage were strongly and positively correlated with hydrocarbon generation pressure. Therefore, gas was the main factor controlling hydrocarbon generation pressures in this study. Higher pressures can exceed the fracture pressures of rocks, resulting in the formation of fractures and leading to the expulsion of oil and gas. The overpressure of a source rock can be transferred into a tight reservoir to become the main driving force for tight oil charging. When the overpressure exceeds 15 MPa, the oil in a reservoir can be charged into <5-nm pore throats, which is important for predicting tight oil potential. • Thermal pressure simulation experiments were conducted under formation conditions. • Hydrothermal and hydrocarbon-induced overpressures reached 49 and 116.1 MPa. • Gas generation in different stages controls hydrocarbon generation pressures. • Tight oil can be charged into <5-nm pore throats when overpressure >15 MPa. Experimental studies have shown that β-caryophyllene (BCP) improved neurological deficits of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury (CIRI) rats resulting from Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion (MCAO). However, research on targets of BCP on CIRI has not been completed. In this study, the mRNA sequencing was used to distinguish various therapeutic multiple targets of BCP on CIRI. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified from RNA-seq analysis. CIRI induced up-regulated genes (CIRI vs. Sham) and BCP -induced down-regulated genes (BCP vs CIRI) were identified. Significant DEGs were identified only that expressed in each of all samples. Gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis of significant DEGs were determined by cluster Profiler. Protein interactive network (PPI) was analyzed using the String tool and Hub genes was identified by cytoHubba. Transcription factor (TF) regulatory network for the potential Hub genes was constructed. Western blot and ELISA were used to verified hub genes and relative inflammatory cytokines. After mRNA sequencing, a total of 411 DEGs were filtered based on the 2 series (CIRI vs. Sham and CIRI vs. BCP), with Pax1, Cxcl3 and Ccl20 are the most remarkable ones reversed by BCP. GO analysis was represented by DEGs involved in multiple biological process such as extra-cellular matrix organization, leukocyte migration, regulation of angiogenesis, reactive oxygen species metabolic process, etc. KEGG analysis showed that DEGs participated several signaling pathways including MAPK signaling pathway (rno04010), Cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction (rno04060), JAK-STAT signaling pathway (rno04630), and others. The protein-protein interaction (PPI) network consisted of 339 nodes and 1945 connections, and top ten Hub genes were identified by cytoHubba such as TIMP1, MMP-9, and STAT3. Subsequently, a TFs-miRNAs-targets regulatory network was established, involving 6 TFs, 5 miRNAs, and 10 hub genes, consisting of several regulated models such as Brd4 - rno-let-7e - Mmp9, Brd4 - rno-let-7i - Stat3, and Hnf4a- rno-let-7b -Timp1. Finally, western blot demonstrated that BCP could inhibit the increased TIMP1, MMP-9 and STAT3 expression in rat brains after I/R. ELISA represented that BCP could suppress inflammatory cytokines caused by CIRI and present anti-oxidative property. In conclusion, this study shows that the intervention of BCP can significantly reduce neurologic deficit, improve the cerebral ischemia, and a total of ten hub genes were found closely related to the treatment of BCP on CIRI. Prudent experimental validation suggests that the BCP might have the neuro-protective effects in CIRI by decreasing the expression of MMP-9 and TIMP-1, STAT3. The distribution, origin, and evolution of overpressure in the petroliferous basin are important problems that need to be addressed for oil and gas exploration. The distribution and origin of overpressure in the Shahejie Formation in the northern Dongpu Depression are analyzed based on geological studies, logs, and pressure data. The contribution ratios of different overpressure origins are quantified, and the evolutionary stages of overpressures of different origins are further divided. The results show that the formation pressure coefficients of Shahejie Formation in the Dongpu Depression are mainly within the range of 0.9–1.5. The overpressures are mainly distributed in the Sha-3 and Sha-4 Members of the Haitongji sag, the Central uplift belt and the Qianliyuan sag. From the sag to its surrounding area, the formation pressure coefficient gradually decreases. The high deposition rate and strong hydrocarbon generation are the main causes of overpressure formation in the Shahejie Formation in the Dongpu Depression. Based on the stress–strain characteristics of different origin overpressures and the log response parameters, two models, acoustic travel time-effective vertical stress and electrical resistivity-effective vertical stress, are established to identify and quantify the different origin overpressures. The calculation results for the area from the Haitongji sag and Qianliyuan sag to the Central uplift belt show that the main cause of overpressure gradually changes from both disequilibrium compaction and hydrocarbon generation to disequilibrium compaction as the main factor, with the contribution of disequilibrium compaction to overpressure in the Central uplift belt at about 87%. The Sha-3 Members of the Shahejie Formation in the Haitongji sag and the Qianliyuan sag are more strongly affected by hydrocarbon generation, which accounts for 42% and 47.5% of overpressure origin, respectively. This study was designed to investigate the role of miR-671-5p in in vitro and in vivo models of ischemic stroke (IS). Middle cerebral artery occlusion and reperfusion (MCAO/R) in C57BL/6 mice as well as oxygen–glucose deprivation and reoxygenation (OGD/R) in a mouse hippocampal HT22 neuron line were used as in vivo and in vitro models of IS injury, respectively. miR-671-5p agomir, miR-671-5p antagomir, pcDNA3.1-NF-κB, and negative controls were transfected into cells using riboFECT CP reagent. miR-671-5p agomir, pcDNA3.1-NF-κB, and negative vectors were administered into MCAO/R mice via intracerebroventricular injection. The results showed that miR-671-5p was significantly downregulated and that miR-671-5p agomir alleviated injury and neuroinflammation induced by ischemic reperfusion. A dual-luciferase reporter assay confirmed that NF-κB is a direct target of miR-671-5p. Reverse experiments showed that miR-671-5p agomir reduced neuroinflammation via suppression of NF-κB expression in both in vitro and in vivo models of IS. Powdery mildew is a very destructive disease that threatens yield and quality of wheat. In the present study, 262 recombinant inbred lines derived from a cross between Zhongmai 578 (ZM578) with moderate resistance to powdery mildew and Jimai 22 (JM22) with high resistance to powdery mildew in the field were used to map powdery mildew resistance loci using the high‐density Illumina iSelect 50K single‐nucleotide polymorphism array. Three quantitative trait loci (QTLs) on chromosomes 2B, 5B, and 5D were identified by inclusive composite interval mapping, designated as QPm.caas‐2BL.1, QPm.caas‐5BL, and QPm.caas‐5DL, respectively, explaining 5.0%–37.0% of the phenotypic variances. The resistance allele of QPm.caas‐5BL was contributed by ZM578, whereas alleles of QPm.caas‐2BL.1 and QPm.caas‐5DL were from JM22. QPm.caas‐2BL.1, detected in all the six experimental environments, was a major and stable QTL. QPm.caas‐5DL was detected in five of the six environments and is likely to be a new QTL for powdery mildew resistance. The kompetitive allele‐specific PCR (KASP) markers Kpm‐2BL and Kpm‐5DL for QPm.caas‐2BL.1 and QPm.caas‐5DL, respectively, were validated in a diverse panel of 287 cultivars. These KASP markers, tightly linked with the QTLs, can be used for marker‐assisted breeding targeting the improvement of powdery mildew resistance in wheat. Background: When frozen pathological results of suspicious peritoneal nodules found in gastric cancer (GC) patients are negative or indeterminant, whether to perform gastrectomy will always be a dilemma for surgeons. This study aimed to facilitate intraoperative surgical decision-making based on frozen section (FS) results and clinicopathological characteristics. Methods: From January 2015 to July 2021, 318 GC patients were enrolled retrospectively. The correlations between frozen and paraffin pathology of peritoneal nodules were examined. Then, predictive factors of positive paraffin section (PS) results were identified, and a nomogram was constructed. The survival significance of gastrectomy was also explored. Results: Of 70 FS-negative patients, 59 (84.3%) had concordant negative PS results, while the PS results of 11 (15.7%) were positive. Forty-six (93.9%) and 3 (6.1%) of 49 patients with indeterminant FS results had positive and negative PS results, respectively. The PS results of 95 FS-positive patients were all positive. A nomogram for predicting positive PS results was developed based on Lauren type, nodule distribution, and CA125. Gastrectomy for FS-negative patients improved survival compared to no gastrectomy (HR 0.26, 95% CI 0.11–0.62; P = 0.0012). Survival benefits for gastrectomy vs. no gastrectomy were not demonstrated in patients with indeterminant (HR 0.74, 95% CI 0.27–2.01; P = 0.53) and positive (HR 0.87, 95% CI 0.43–1.74; P = 0.69) FS results. Conclusions: Gastrectomy can be justified for the treatment of operable GC patients with negative frozen pathological results of peritoneal nodules. The Dongpu Depression, containing huge amounts of hydrocarbons, is a typical petroliferous province in the Bohai Bay Basin, east China. As one set of the main source rocks, the first member of Shahejie Formation (E2s1) shows huge exploration potential with approximately 0.83 × 108 t resources remaining to be discovered. However, the geochemical characteristics and thermal evolution history of E2s1 source rocks have still not been determined. In this study, the sedimentary features were firstly analysed based on the geological data. Then the organic matter abundance, kerogen type, and thermal maturity of E2s1 source rocks in the present day were evaluated according to the Rock‐Eval pyrolysis, micro‐components of kerogen, total organic carbon (TOC), and vitrinite reflectance analysis. Furthermore, the evolution of thermal history and hydrocarbon generation was determined using the PetroMod procedure. The results show that dark mudstones and salt rocks were well developed in E2s1, which are propitious for organic matter to grow and preserve. E2s1 source rocks contain abundant organic matter and moderate to good generative source rock potential. E2s1 source rocks mainly consist of Type II kerogen and have entered early to maturation stage for hydrocarbon generation. Due to the limited buried depth, E2s1 source rocks only attained lower thermal maturity and generated finite hydrocarbons. The initial rapid subsidence and the second rift after uplift erosion resulted in the higher geo‐temperature at the end of E3d and the present day. Corresponding to the geo‐temperature evolution, there are two stages of hydrocarbon generation for E2s1 source rocks: The first stage was in the late E3d period, and the late stage was from the late Neogene to the present day. Moreover, the hydrocarbon generation rate and quantity of the late stage are much higher than the first stage, indicating the major hydrocarbon generation stage. Due to the limited hydrocarbon generation capacity, oils generated from E2s1 source rocks are low maturity; thus, it cannot migrate for a long distance and only accumulated around the sag belts. Calcium sulfate or plaster of Paris (POP) is considered as a bone cement with a fast degradation rate, which frequently makes it resorb before the bone defect area is completely filled by new bone. The incorporation of tricalcium silicate (C3S) into POP cement has been proven as a feasible approach to reduce the in vitro degradation rate and improve the in vitro bioactivity of the material. However, the in vivo performance of the POP/C3S composite cement is still unclear. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to assess the biodegradability and osteogenesis of POP/C3S composite cement in comparison with those of POP bone cement. To carry out the in vivo evaluation, POP and POP/C3S cements were implanted into a femoral condyle defect model in rabbits (5 mm diameter × 10 mm length) for 4, 8, and 12 weeks duration. The area of the remaining cement and new bone regeneration in bone defect were investigated and quantitatively measured using radiography, micro-computed tomography, and histological staining. For both cements, no sign of inflammation was observed. POP cement was completely degraded at the 8th week of post-implantation. By contrast, only approximately 50% by volume of POP/C3S composite cement degraded at the 12th week, which allowed a long-term framework for new bone formation. The osteogenic ability of POP/C3S composite cement was significantly superior to that of POP as indicated by the higher mineralization rate and maturity of the newly formed bone around the composite cement. In summary, our findings demonstrated that the in vivo degradation behaviors and osteogenic ability of POP cement could be improved by incorporating C3S in vivo, suggesting that POP/C3S composite cement has potential as a biodegradable cement for bone repair. The aim of the present study was to investigate the expression of microRNA (miR)-663 and its regulatory effects on the pathogenesis of nasal polyposis in children. Nasal polyp tissue, as well as serum and peripheral blood eosinophils were collected from 35 children diagnosed with nasal polypectomy between August 2013 and August 2015. As a control, the inferior nasal concha, serum and peripheral blood eosinophils were collected from 46 patients with nasal septal deviation complicated by inferior turbinate hypertrophy or patients with simple inferior turbinate hypertrophy who had undergone surgical removal of the inferior nasal concha. Reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) was used to measure the expression of miR-663 and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) in the nasal polyp tissue, serum and peripheral blood eosinophils of patients with nasal polyposis and controls. Western blotting was used to measure the expression of TGF-β1 protein in nasal tissue and eosinophils and an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to measure serum level of TGF-β1 protein. A dual luciferase reporter assay was used to determine whether TGF-β1 was a target gene of miR-663. Compared with the control group, levels of TGF-β1 mRNA and protein were significantly increased in all three types of specimens from pediatric patients with nasal polyposis (P<0.05). miR-663 expression was significantly decreased in nasal polyp tissue and peripheral blood eosinophils (P<0.05). The dual luciferase reporter assay confirmed that TGF-β1 was a target gene of miR-663. The current study suggests that the upregulation of TGF-β1 may be associated with the downregulation of miR-663 in nasal polyposis in children. miR-663 may have regulatory effects on the pathogenesis of nasal polyposis by regulating TGF-β1 and may be developed as a genetic marker of nasal polyposis in children. The southwest vortex (SWV) is a critical weather system in China, but our knowledge of this system remains incomplete. Here, we investigate the cloud properties in the SWV. First, we search for the SWVs with time steps and center locations that are consistent between the SWV yearbook and ERA-Interim reanalysis data. Second, we supplement these SWVs' life spans and movement paths. Third, we relocate the Fengyun (FY) satellite FY-4A cloud retrievals in the 10° × 10° region centered on each SWV and analyze the cloud occurrence frequency (COF), cloud-top height (CTH), and cloud optical thickness (COT). A distribution mode of cloud types is summarized from the COFs, with water clouds, supercooled clouds, mixed clouds, ice clouds, cirrus clouds, and overlap clouds occurring sequentially from west to east. The CTH probability density (PD) distribution features a significant north–south difference. In addition, the COT PD distributions exhibit a common trend: with increasing COT, the PD increases rapidly and then slowly before peaking, whereupon the PD decreases abruptly. From spring to summer, the region with the highest convective COF shifts from the northeast to the northwest, and an east–west gradient of the convective COF appears in autumn and winter. Furthermore, we investigate the cloud properties during SWV-related heavy rainfall. Heavy rain occurs mainly in the west of the SWV, and convective clouds are mainly in the northwest, partly in the southwest and near the SWV center. The average CTH in heavy rainfall is generally higher than 6 km, and the average COT is greater than 20. Significance Statement: The southwest vortex (SWV) is an important weather system in China. However, we do not yet comprehensively know this weather system. The cloud properties can indicate the structures of weather systems and are key parameters in numerical weather prediction (NWP) models. Thus, investigating cloud properties is necessary and meaningful to understand the SWV and accurately predict SWV-related precipitation in NWP models. Background and Aims It has been reported that rs1122608 adjacent to low-density lipoprotein cholesterol receptor (LDLR) locus is associated with the risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) and blood lipid profile in the Caucasian population. Due to the contradictory results in the Asian population, we conducted a meta-analysis to systematically summarize and clarify the association between rs1122608 with CAD risk and lipid profile. Methods A systematic search regarding studies on the association of rs1122608 with CAD risk and lipid profile was conducted in databases including PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane library. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were used to pool the effect size. Results A total of five case-control studies were included in this study. A statistically significant association was identified between rs1122608-G allele and CAD risk in overall analysis (OR = 2.09, 95% CI 1.48–2.97) and in both Asian (OR = 1.82, 95% CI 1.04–3.18) and Caucasian subgroups (OR = 2.31, 95% CI 1.48–3.60). The rs1122608-G allele was associated with increased triglyceride (TG) level (OR = 1.25, 95% CI 1.03–1.52), but not with total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), or LDL cholesterol level. Moreover, the rs1122608-G allele is associated with increased CAD risk in the Asian male population (OR = 3.37, 95% CI 1.51–9.86) but not in the Asian female population. Conclusions The rs1122608 is associated with the risk of CAD and TG level. Chlorite is beneficial to the preservation of primary pores, and its formation mechanism in marine sandstone has been widely reported. However, few studies have focused on the genetic mechanism of various types of chlorite in lacustrine deltaic sandstone. Therefore, the occurrence, diagenetic time and origin of chlorite in Xujiahe tight sandstone were investigated using microscopic images and mineralogical chemical analysis, and three stages of chlorite were identified, namely, grain-coating (Ch1), pore-lining (Ch2), and pore-filling (Ch3) chlorite, which belong to the Fe chlorite, Al chlorite and transitional types, respectively. The variations in morphology and chemical composition reflect differences in the sources and formation mechanisms. Chlorite sandstones are mainly distributed in the underwater distributary channel, which has strong hydrodynamic conditions. The formation of Ch1 is controlled by the sedimentary environment and flocculation. Salinity differences resulted in a larger amount of flocculation deposits in the estuaries during the syngenetic period. In the shallow burial stage, the clay coating underwent in situ transformation under thermal impacts and formed the Ch1. Xujiahe sandstones experienced complex diagenetic processes, which include early compaction, three stages of chlorite cementation, two stages of quartz precipitation, dissolution and two stages of carbonate cementation. Organic acid dissolution of volcanic rock fragments, phyllite, and biotite likely supplied sufficient Fe2+ for the growth of Ch2 in a relatively closed diagenetic system. As the pore water became weakly alkaline, diagenetic fluid migration originating from the clay mineral transformation in mudstone mainly provided Fe2+ and Mg2+ for Ch3 growth in sandstones. Chlorite is considered to have "composite" impacts on deep tight sandstones, with grain-coating and pore-lining chlorites protecting the primary pores by restricting the silica supply and occupying potential quartz nucleation sites; however, grain-coating chlorite caused throat obstruction or even closure under strong mechanical compaction, which reduced the permeability of the reservoir. • Three different types of chlorite have been found in the Xujiahe tight sandstones. • It has been clear that the formation time of chlorite and the paragenetic sequence of authigenic minerals. • The origin and formation mechanism of authigenic chlorite in three types have been investigated. • We considerd that authigenic chlorite has a "composite" impact on deep tight sandstone: preserve primary porosity but reduce the permeability. Small and complex petroliferous sags have gradually become one of the key areas of succession in the mature exploration areas. Taking Weibei Sag of Bohai Bay Basin as a case, the geological and geochemical characteristics of the source rocks of Kong-2 Member was analyzed, the basin simulation method was used to determine the main hydrocarbon generation area, and investigate its control on the distribution and enrichment of hydrocarbon. The results show that the abundance, type, and maturity of organic matter have a large spatial variation range, and the upper and middle sub-members of Kong-2 Member in the study area are the most important source rocks. The periods of the late deposition of the Sha-4 Member and the structural uplift are the main hydrocarbon generation periods. The Migration of hydrocarbon-generating center from subsidence center to southeast direction, resulting a large amount of hydrocarbon-generating in the slope zone, leading to the main migration and accumulation direction of hydrocarbon in the Zaohu Faulted Nose Belt. Therefore, the hydrocarbon were enriched in the southeast and poor in the central and western regions, so the next favorable exploration areas include Zaohu Faulted Nose Belt, Eastern Wacheng Step Belt, and Southern Northern Sag Belt. A lithium–sulfur battery, a potential next-generation secondary battery, is affected by poor conductivity of sulfur and the dissolution of intermediate polysulfides. Here we report a lithium–sulfur battery with ultrahigh sulfur loading and excellent cycling stability using porous graphitic carbon (PGC) as a high-conductivity carrier of sulfur and carbon fiber with crisscross conductive framework as an electric attachment site of sulfur. PGC is fabricated through a simple and environmentally friendly synthesis process involving high-temperature graphitization in a N2 atmosphere followed by an annealing process in air. Due to the presence of porous graphitic structure, with C–O termination groups, PGC endows the lithium–sulfur battery system with excellent cycling performance. The lithium–sulfur battery cathode constructed by PGC with a sulfur loading of 2.5 mg cm−2 still retains a high specific capacity of 734.4 mA h g−1 after 200 cycles. Meanwhile, an ultrahigh sulfur loading of 12.8 mg cm−2 for a CR2025 coin cell is achieved, which is the highest sulfur loading reported in the literature for the coin cell. The ultrahigh sulfur loading cell also shows good electrochemical properties, profiting from the mesopores terminated with C–O groups, high specific surface area of 1129.9 m2 g−1 and high-conductivity graphitic structure. Key message: We fine-mapped QBp.caas-3BL for black point resistance in an interval of 1.7 Mb containing five high-confidence annotated genes and developed a KASP marker suitable for selection of QBp.caas-3BL. Wheat black point, which occurs in most wheat-growing regions of the world, is detrimental to grain appearance, processing and nutrient quality. Mining and characterization of genetic loci for black point resistance are helpful for breeding resistant wheat cultivars. We previously identified a major QTL QBp.caas-3BL in a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population of Linmai 2/Zhong 892 across five environments. Here we confirmed the QTL in two additional environments. The genetic region of QBp.caas-3BL was enriched with newly developed markers. Using four sets of near isogenic lines, QBp.caas-3BL was narrowed down to a physical interval of approximately 1.7 Mb, including five annotated genes according to IWGSC reference genome. TraesCS3B02G404300, TraesCS3B02G404600 and TraesCS3B02G404700 were predicted as candidate genes based on the analyses of sequence polymorphisms and differential expression. We also converted a SNP of TraesCS3B02G404700 into a breeding-applicable KASP marker and verified its efficacy for marker-assisted breeding in a panel of germplasm. Aims/Introduction: Although the efficacy of teneligliptin, a highly selective dipeptidyl peptidase‐4 inhibitor, has been amply studied for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, no clinical trials of teneligliptin have been carried out in China. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of teneligliptin monotherapy compared with a placebo in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus inadequately controlled with diet and exercise. Materials and Methods: This multicenter, randomized, double‐blind, placebo‐controlled, parallel‐group study, carried out at 42 sites, enrolled type 2 diabetes patients with glycosylated hemoglobin 7.0 to <10.0% and fasting blood glucose <270 mg/dL. Patients were randomly assigned, in a 1:1 ratio, to treatment with 20 mg teneligliptin or a placebo (n = 127, each) administered orally once daily before breakfast for 24 weeks. Change in glycosylated hemoglobin from baseline to week 24 was the primary efficacy end‐point. Safety was assessed by the incidence of adverse events and adverse drug reactions. Results: The least square mean (LSM) change in glycosylated hemoglobin from baseline to week 24 was −0.95% with teneligliptin versus −0.14% with a placebo, yielding an LSM difference (teneligliptin vs placebo) of −0.80% (P < 0.0001). For the secondary end‐point, from baseline to week 24, the LSM change in fasting blood glucose was −21.9 mg/dL with teneligliptin versus −1.4 mg/dL with a placebo, yielding an LSM difference (teneligliptin vs placebo) of −20.5 mg/dL (P < 0.0001). The adverse event and adverse drug reaction incidence rates, including hypoglycemia, were similar in both groups. Conclusions: At 24 weeks, teneligliptin was generally well tolerated and effective in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus inadequately controlled with diet and exercise. We aimed to evaluate the therapeutic effects of exosomes, which were collected from human neuroepithelial stem cells (HNESCs) treated by miR-29b mimics, on the treatment of spinal cord injury (SCI). Computational analysis, real-time PCR, Western blot analysis and TUNEL assay, a BBB score system, the Nissl staining and IHC assay were conducted to explore the molecular signalling pathway underlying the function of exosomes in SCI. Exosomes isolated from cells treated with HNESC exhibited the strongest inhibitory effect on cell apoptosis while exhibiting the highest level of miR-29b expression and the lowest levels of PTEN and caspase-3 expression. Moreover, PTEN and caspase-3 were identified as the direct target genes of miR-29b. The exosomes isolated from the groups of HNESC and HNESC + miR-29b mimics exhibited in vivo therapeutic effects by restoring the BBB score and apoptosis index of post-SCI neuron cells to those of normal neuron cells, with the exosomes collected from the group of HNESC + miR-29b mimics showing the strongest effect. We suggested that the exosomes derived from the group of HNESC + miR-29b mimics exerted therapeutic effects on SCI by down-regulating the expression of PTEN/caspase-3 and subsequently suppressing the apoptosis of neuron cells. Abnormal expression of KDM6A and SOX9 is a key factor in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis (OA). Cellular treatments of OA with articular cartilage chondrocytes (ACCs) and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) are promising, but their underlying mechanisms remain to be explored. The pellet size, weight and sulfated glycosaminoglycan/DNA content of ACCs were measured to evaluate the effect of BMSCs on the chondrogenic differentiation of SCCs. 3‐(4,5‐Dimethylthiazol‐2‐yl)‐2,5‐diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay was used to analyze the proliferation of ACCs cultured along or cocultured with BMSCs. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) was performed to evaluate the messenger RNA expression of KDM6A, SOX9, type2 collagen, and Aggrecan in ACCs and OA rats. Western blot and immunohistochemistry were performed to analyze the expression of KDM6A and SOX9 proteins. Bisulfite sequencing PCR was performed to assess the DNA methylation level of the SOX9 promoter. Flow cytometry was used to evaluate the apoptotic status of ACCs. The chondrogenic differentiation of ACCs was significantly enhanced by coculturing with BMSCs, especially under a hypoxic condition. The expression of KDM6A, SOX9, type2 collagen, and Aggrecan was remarkably elevated in ACCs cocultured with BMSCs. Also, the DNA methylation of SOX9 promoter was decreased in ACCs cocultured with BMSCs, along with notably reduced apoptosis. Moreover, ACCs cocultured with BMSCs could repair cartilage lesions and prevent the abnormal expression of KDM6A, SOX9, type2 collagen, and Aggrecan in OA rats. In this study, we cocultured ACCs with BMSCs and used them to treat OA rats. Our findings presented a mechanistic basis for explaining the therapeutic effect of BMSCs on OA treatment. Here we report a supercapacitor with high energy density and high cycling stability using low-cost and environmentally friendly CoMoO4/bamboo charcoal (BC) hybrid materials as the cathode. The hybrid materials were fabricated via a one-pot solvothermal reaction followed by an annealing process. The optimized CoMoO4/BC hybrid material has a specific surface area of 74.4 m2 g−1, being 1.7-fold higher than that of the CoMoO4 precursor. The hybrid electrode shows a high specific capacitance of 422.3 F g−1 at 0.5 A g−1 and 304.8 F g−1 at 50 A g−1. The as-assembled CoMoO4/BC‖‖activated carbon supercapacitor exhibits a high energy density of 56.7 W h kg−1 and 18.3 W h kg−1 at a power density of 785 W kg−1 and 40 000 W kg−1, respectively. Furthermore, it also shows excellent long-term cycling stability. Subjected to 40 000 cycles of charge–discharge test at a current density of 50 A g−1, there is only about 10% capacitance loss (occurring only during the first 5000 cycles). This excellent electrochemical performance is ascribed to the covalent C–Mo and C–O bonds formed between CoMoO4 and BC as well as the porous feature of the hybrid material, which provide highways for electron transfer and ion transportation within the electrodes and at the electrode–electrolyte interface. Air source heat pumps (ASHPs) have been widely used for space cooling in recent years. When a space cooling ASHP unit is operated in an ambience with poor air quality, fouling of its outdoor coil can be easily built up, leading to a significant drop in the operating efficiency and output cooling capacity of the ASHP unit. Therefore, as a follow-up to a previous related study, a study to develop a novel defouling initiation method for the fouled outdoor coil in a space cooling ASHP unit based on its measurable characteristic ambient and operating temperatures has been carried out and the study results are reported in this paper. Firstly, a characteristic parameter of TTT, which can be evaluated based on ambient air Temperature, outdoor coil metal surface Temperature and outdoor coil outlet air Temperature, is defined. Secondly, the development of the novel defouling initiation method is detailed. Finally, further field comparative studies using the developed novel defouling initiation method have been carried out, and the study results demonstrated that the novel defouling initiation method can provide an accurate and convenient way to initiate defouling of the fouled outdoor coil in an ASHP unit at a reasonable defouling frequency to ensure its best possible operating performances. Abstract To better understand gas migration and accumulation in tight sandstone reservoirs, we conducted an integrated petrographic and geochemical analysis of hydrocarbon and aqueous fluid inclusions. This analysis was combined with the burial and multistage hydrocarbon charging histories of the reservoir. The variability in the types of hydrocarbon inclusions in the tight sandstone reservoirs can be mapped to identify phase fractionation during burial and migration. The oil-bearing inclusions resulted from the heterogeneous capture of oil generated during the first hydrocarbon charging period, when the sandstones had not yet reached tight reservoir conditions. The gas-bearing inclusions in the tight sandstone reservoirs formed during the phase fractionation of dissolved and free gas due to unstable pressure conditions. The gas-bearing inclusions are characterized by a varying vapor volume fraction (φ vap). A higher proportion of gas-bearing inclusions with φ vap < 25% was observed near the source rock with TOC content >1.2%. In contrast, in structural highs, a higher proportion of gas-water inclusions with φ vap > 25% was observed, demonstrating that phase fractionation occurred during migration. The GOI data suggest that the dissolved gas migration mainly occurred in the reservoir near the source rock with TOC content >1.2%. The subsequent free gas separation in relation to upward migration and strata uplift caused free gas to migrate farther into the tight sandstone reservoir. Additionally, the gases displayed benzene/n-hexane ratio, methane and ethane δ13C values increasing initially, then decreasing along the migration pathway, recording the phase state evolution of the natural gas during the burial history of the reservoirs. Abstract Air source heat pumps (ASHPs) have been widely used for providing buildings with heating in winter and cooling in summer. In certain locations, with an increased level of air pollutions, fouling of the outdoor coil in a space cooling ASHP unit may appear, which affects the operating performances of the ASHP unit. Furthermore, the operating performances of an ASHP unit can also be affected by ambient air temperature (T a). In this paper, a field study on the effects of outdoor coil fouling at different T a on the operating performances of a field space cooling ASHP unit is presented. The study results demonstrated that the operating performances of the field ASHP unit were significantly affected by the changes in both T a and percentage of fouled outdoor coil surface (PFOCS). For example, at T a = 30 °C, the variation in PFOCS from 0 to 100% led to a reduction in COP for the field ASHP unit from 2.7 to 2.0. At a fixed PFOCS of 60%, the changes in T a from 26 to 33 °C resulted in a reduction in COP from 2.6 to 2.1. In order to more conveniently investigate the combined impacts of fouling on the operating performances of an ASHP unit at different T a , an equivalent ambient air temperature rise (ETR) was proposed. Based on the measured and evaluated operating parameters of the field ASHP unit at different T a and PFOCS values, ETR values at 0 - 40%, 40 - 60%, 60 - 100% and 0 - 100% PFOCS ranges were evaluated. These ETR values implied that defouling of a fouled outdoor coil may be initiated when PFOCS was at 40 - 60%. With the ETR values for the full PFOCS range of 0 - 100%, the impact of full fouling on the operating performances of an ASHP unit may be evaluated as if it was operated with a clean outdoor coil but at an equivalent ambient air temperature of T a + ETR. Abstract The Lower Cretaceous Yingcheng Formation in the Longfengshan sag (Songliao Basin, China) represents a typical tight sandstone reservoir that hosts large accumulations of hydrocarbons. The lacustrine sandstones mainly reflect gravity flow deposits making up various lithofacies displaying varying degrees of heterogeneity. This study reports on the links among gravity flow type, diagenetic overprinting and pore-throat characteristics that control reservoir quality. Core observations, especially grain size variations and related sedimentary structures are used to differentiate types of gravity flows. Microscopic observations, cathodoluminescence, scanning electron microscopy, pressure-controlled mercury injection tests and rate-controlled mercury injection tests are used to determine the mineralogy, sedimentary composition and pore-throat characteristics of the tight sandstones. In the study area, the gravity flows are divided into muddy debris flows, sandy debris flows, high-density turbidity flows, low-density turbidity flows and mud density flows. The petrophysical properties of these different gravity flow sediments reflect a range of permeability and porosity characteristics. Because of their mud-dominated textures and related weak compressive strength, mud density flows and muddy debris flows become ineffective as reservoirs during burial. In contrast, for approximately similar burial depths, turbidites and sandy debris flows show better reservoir quality. However, reservoir units with high porosities still possess considerable heterogeneity; this is especially true of some sandy debris flows that possess large amounts of secondary pores but which are not charged with hydrocarbons. In particular, in some poorly sorted sandy debris flows that are characterized by high contents of fine-grained matrix, some of the pore throats are blocked by matrix material. Moreover, the dissolution of feldspars and volcanic debris led to the formation of authigenic clays and quartz, which preferentially developed in pore throats with small radii. This process significantly reduced permeability. Overall, the permeabilities of the sandy debris flows are generally lower than those of the turbidites. Due to their relatively large-radius pore throats, turbidites can be categorized as potential effective hydrocarbon reservoirs in the study area. This research provides significant insights into the characteristics of pore throats within tight reservoirs consisting of gravity flow sediments in lacustrine basinal settings. Abstract A defrosting initiation strategy based on tube-encircled photoelectric sensors (TEPS) was previously proven effective for enhancing the frosting-defrosting performances of air source heat pumps (ASHPs) in cold and dry regions. To verify its applicability to, and evaluate the energy-saving potential when using the TEPS-based strategy in mild and humid regions, field tests were conducted in Guiyang City, China, where the outdoor averaged air temperature and relative humidity were 4.5 °C and 80% in winter, respectively. Two ASHPs of the same-make, one with the TEPS-based strategy and the other with the commonly used temperature-time (TT) strategy, were tested. Totally, seven test cases were organised. Cases 1–5 were for short-term tests to verify the technical feasibility of TEPS-based strategy by comparing the defrosting accuracy of the two strategies. Cases 6–7 were for long-term tests to validate the reliability and effectiveness of the TEPS-based strategy by comparing two ASHPs' operating performances. The test results demonstrated that the use of TEPS-based strategy in mild and humid regions can initiate defrosting more accurately, reliably and efficiently, and thus improve the COP and heating capacity by 11.3% and 12.1%, respectively, compared to the use of the TT strategy. Therefore, it was proven that the TEPS-based strategy was more effective for the ASHPs used in mild and humid regions, for a more accurate defrosting initiation and higher energy efficiency. The physical properties, group compositions, carbon isotopes and biomarkers of the Upper Paleozoic crude oil in the Shiguhao area in northern Ordos Basin were investigated to study geochemical characteristics and source of the crude oil. The Upper Paleozoic crude oil in the Shiguhao area belongs to the medium oil with high viscosity, high wax content, low sulfur content and low freezing point, and it displays the group composition of high saturated hydrocarbons/aromatics. The carbon isotopic compositions and biomarkers of crude oil indicated that the Upper Paleozoic crude oil was coal-derived oil and at the mature stage. The physical properties, carbon isotopes and GC-MS parameters of saturated hydrocarbons indicated that, the crude oil displayed a good affinity with the Upper Paleozoic coal rocks in the Shanxi Formation. Therefore, the Upper Paleozoic coal rocks in the Shanxi Formation were the important source of the Upper Paleozoic crude oil, and this provided valuable direction for the petroleum exploration in northern Ordos Basin. Significant differential hydrocarbon enrichment occurs in depressions in a petroliferous basin. There are multiple depressions in the Bohai Bay Basin, and each depression as a relatively independent unit of hydrocarbon generation, migration and accumulation, contains significantly different hydrocarbon generation conditions and enrichment degree. On the basis of previous documents and a large number of statistical data, this work comparatively analyzed the differential hydrocarbon enrichment and its major controlling factors in depressions of the Bohai Bay Basin. The results show that depressions in the Bohai Bay Basin have various hydrocarbon enrichment degrees, and can be categorized into four types, namely enormously oil-rich, oil-rich, oily and oil-poor depressions. In general, the enormously oil-rich and oil-rich depressions are distributed in the eastern part of the basin along the Tan-Lu and Lan-Liao faults, whereas depressions in the western part of the basin are poor in hydrocarbons. Moreover, the vertical distribution of hydrocarbons is also highly heterogeneous, with Pre-Paleogene strata rich in hydrocarbons in the northern and western depressions, Paleogene strata rich in hydrocarbons in the entire basin, and Neogene strata rich in hydrocarbons in the off-shore areas of the Bohai Bay Basin. From early depressions in onshore areas to the late depressions in offshore areas of the Bohai Bay Basin, the source rocks and source-reservoir-cap rock assemblages gradually become younger and shallower, and the hydrocarbon resource abundance gradually increases. Hydrocarbon supplying condition is the key factor constraining the hydrocarbon enrichment for different depressions, while the main source-reservoir-cap rock assemblage, sufficient hydrocarbons and the transportation capacity of faults control the vertical distribution of hydrocarbons. The main factors controlling hydrocarbon enrichment are different for different layers. The hydrocarbon supplying condition of source rocks is the key controlling factor, whereas the source-reservoir configuration, the main source-reservoir-cap rock assemblages, and the fault transportation are the main factors of hydrocarbon enrichment in the Paleogene, Paleogene and Neogene, respectively. Aim: To assess efficacy/safety of initial linagliptin/metformin single-pill combination (SPC) therapies versus individual drug components over 24weeks in treatment-naïve Asian patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and insufficient glycemic control.Methods: Patients (initial glycated hemoglobin [HbA1c] ⩾7.5% to <11.0% [58-97mmol/mol]; main group) were randomized to: linagliptin 5mg once daily (qd); metformin 500mg twice daily (bid); metformin 1000mg bid; linagliptin 2.5mg/metformin 500mg bid; or linagliptin 2.5mg/metformin 1000mg bid. Patients with severe hyperglycemia (HbA1c ⩾11.0% [97mmol/mol]) received linagliptin 2.5mg/metformin 1000mg bid or linagliptin 5mg qd (switched at week 12 from linagliptin to SPC if HbA1c >8.0% [64mmol/mol]). The main group primary endpoint was HbA1c change from baseline to week 24.Results: At week 24, adjusted mean change from baseline in HbA1c (main group, n=733) was: linagliptin 5mg qd, -1.3%; metformin 500mg bid, -1.6%; metformin 1000mg bid, -2.1%; linagliptin 2.5mg/metformin 500mg bid, -2.2%; linagliptin 2.5mg/metformin 1000mg bid, -2.3%. The first test of primary HbA1c analysis (linagliptin 2.5mg/metformin 1000mg bid vs. metformin 1000mg bid) was borderline non-significant; however, SPCs produced significantly greater reductions in HbA1c from baseline versus respective monotherapies in all but one pre-defined sensitivity analysis. In the severe hyperglycemia group (n=143), linagliptin 2.5mg/metformin 1000mg bid produced a superior HbA1c reduction (-4.7%) versus linagliptin 5mg qd (-3.5%) after 12weeks. Introduction The results of a clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of initial combination therapy with sitagliptin and metformin in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes and inadequate glycemic control are reported here. Materials and Methods This was a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel group, 24-week clinical trial carried out in China. Patients ( n = 744) with type 2 diabetes and inadequate glycemic control (glycated hemoglobin ≥7.5 and ≤11.0%) who were either drug-naïve or washed out of previous therapy were randomized in equal ratios to sitagliptin 100 mg once daily (q.d.; S100), metformin 500 mg twice daily (b.i.d.; M1000), metformin 850 mg b.i.d. (M1700), sitagliptin 50 mg b.i.d. plus metformin 500 mg b.i.d. (S100/M1000), sitagliptin 50 mg b.i.d. plus metformin 850 mg b.i.d. (S100/M1700), or placebo. Results The mean baseline glycated hemoglobin in randomized patients was 8.7%. Least squares mean changes from baseline in glycated hemoglobin were −0.59% (placebo), −0.99% (S100), −1.29% (M1000), −1.56% (M1700), −1.67% (S100/M1000) and −1.83% (S100/M1700) ( P < 0.05 for each active group vs placebo, for S100/M1700 and S100/M1000 vs S100, and for S100/M1000 vs M1000). All treatments were generally well-tolerated. The overall incidence of hypoglycemia (symptomatic or asymptomatic) was higher in the two co-administration groups (S100/M1700 and S100/M1000) compared with the placebo. The incidence of symptomatic hypoglycemia was low, and similar, across all treatment groups. The incidences of gastrointestinal adverse events were generally higher in high-dose metformin groups than in the placebo group. Conclusions In Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes, initial combination therapy with sitagliptin and metformin was generally well-tolerated, and provided improvement in glycemic control.
