This paper summarized the key points of integrated Traditional Chinese and western medicine nursing for a patient with diabetic retinopathy complicated with traction retinal detachment. Targeted nursing interventions included body positioning care, exercise guidance, eye nursing, psychological care and lifestyle care. In addition, Traditional Chinese Medicine nursing techniques including auricular acupoint pressing, acupoint massage, cupping and wrist-ankle acupuncture were carried out to relieve the clinical symptoms and improve the postoperative rehabilitation of the patient. Arsenic stress causes rapid transcriptional responses in plants. However, transcriptional regulators of arsenic-induced gene expression in plants remain less well known. To date, forward genetic screens have proven limited for dissecting arsenic response mechanisms. We hypothesized that this may be due to the extensive genetic redundancy present in plant genomes. To overcome this limitation, we pursued a forward genetic screen for arsenite tolerance using a randomized library of plants expressing >2,000 artificial microRNAs (amiRNAs). This library was designed to knock-down diverse combinations of homologous gene family members within sub-clades of transcription factor and transporter gene families. We identified six transformant lines showing an altered response to arsenite in root growth assays. Further characterization of an amiRNA line targeting closely homologous CBF and ERF transcription factors show that the CBF1,2 and 3 transcription factors negatively regulate arsenite sensitivity. Furthermore, the ERF34 and ERF35 transcription factors are required for cadmium resistance. Generation of CRISPR lines, higher-order T-DNA mutants and gene expression analyses, further support our findings. These ERF transcription factors differentially regulate arsenite sensitivity and cadmium tolerance.

Background: Although current studies have identified sleep disorders as an independent risk factor for suicide, the relationship between sleep disorders and suicide risk has not been well established. This study explored whether anxiety and depressive symptoms are used as mediators to participate in the impact of sleep quality on suicide risk. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study. We administered a psychological questionnaire to the participants, using a combination of self-assessment and psychiatrist assessment.Sleep quality, suicide risk, level of anxiety and depressive symptoms were assessed by PSQI, NGASR, SAS and SDS.The study subjects were 391 hospitalized COVID-19 patients from Wuhan hospitals. We used model 6 in the PROCESS (version 3.5) plug-in of SPSS software to conduct mediation test with sleep quality as the independent variable, suicide risk as the dependent variable, level of anxiety and depressive symptoms as intermediate variables. Results: The severity of anxiety and depressive symptoms and the risk of suicide in the sleep disorder group (63.15 ± 13.71, 59.85 ± 13.38, 6.52 ± 3.67) were higher than those in the non-sleep disorder group (49.83 ± 13.14, 44.87 ± 10.19, 2.87 ± 3.26) (P

The exceptional electronic properties and potential applications of black phosphorus (BP) have garnered significant interest in the fields of electrochemical catalysis and energy storage. However, its poor environmental stability severely hampers its practical use. In this study, an innovative strategy is proposed to protect fresh black phosphorene (BPene) against oxidation by adsorbing or weakly bonding aluminum ions (Al3+) onto its surface, while facilitating their self‐removal under operating conditions. By leveraging Al3+‐protected black phosphorene (Al‐BPene) as a catalyst for the electrocatalytic reduction of nitrogen to ammonia (NH3), the effectiveness of this removable Al3+‐protected strategy is demonstrated. Quantitative analysis reveals that Al‐BPene maintains structural and compositional stability for over 7 days under ambient conditions, while the Al3+ can be readily eliminated through self‐desorption or dissolution in the electrolyte. With highly active sites pre‐protected, Al‐BPene exhibits a striking NH3 yield rate of 55.1 µg h−1 mg cat−1 and a Faradaic efficiency (FE) of 66.5% in alkaline media, as exemplified by the representative application example. Moreover, it is found that the prepared Al‐BPene can tolerate a thermal environment, and a higher NH3 yield rate of 75 µg h−1 mg cat−1 at 60 °C is recorded. The current industrial synthesis of ammonia involves an energy‐intensive Haber‐Bosch process, significantly contributing to a massive carbon footprint. An electrochemical synthetic pathway for nitrogen fixation has recently garnered significant attention. It allows ammonia production through a green process without generating harmful pollutants. However, due to the robust N≡N bond, the limited nitrogen solubility, and the competing reactions of hydrogen extraction, the synthesis of ammonia by electrochemical nitrogen reduction (e‐NRR) is far from achieving industrialization. The intrinsic properties of the catalyst, the gas‐solid‐liquid interface, and the specific design of reaction system are the key factors that affect e‐NRR performance. Therefore, this review discusses recent efforts in enhancing e‐NRR performance towards ammonia production with regards to catalyst design, reaction interface optimization, and modulation of the reaction system (including lithium mediated ammonia synthesis). Finally, various promising research strategies and remaining tasks are presented. It is anticipated that this review could be beneficial for the further development of highly efficient and selective e‐NRR to ammonia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: To investigate the therapeutic effects and immunomodulatory mechanisms of human placenta‐derived mesenchymal stem cells (PMSCs) in diabetic kidney disease (DKD). Methods: Streptozotocin‐induced DKD rats were administered an equivalent volume of saline or PMSCs (1 × 106 in 2 mL phosphate‐buffered saline per rat) for 3 weeks. Eight weeks after treatment, we examined the biochemical parameters in the blood and urine, the ratio of T helper 17 cells (Th17) and regulatory T cells (Treg) in the blood, cytokine levels in the kidney and blood, and renal histopathological changes. In addition, we performed PMSC tracing and renal transcriptomic analyses using RNA‐sequencing. Finally, we determined whether PMSCs modulated the Th17/Treg balance by upregulating programmed death 1 (PD‐1) in vitro. Results: The PMSCs significantly improved renal function, which was assessed by serum creatinine levels, urea nitrogen, cystatin C levels, urinary albumin‐creatinine ratio, and the kidney index. Further, PMSCs alleviated pathological changes, including tubular vacuolar degeneration, mesangial matrix expansion, and glomerular filtration barrier injury. In the DKD rats in our study, PMSCs were mainly recruited to immune organs, rather than to the kidney or pancreas. PMSCs markedly promoted the Th17/Treg balance and reduced the levels of pro‐inflammatory cytokines (interleukin [IL]‐17A and IL‐1β) in the kidney and blood of DKD rats. In vitro experiments showed that PMSCs significantly reduced the proportion of Th17 cells and increased the proportion of Treg cells by upregulating PD‐1 in a cell‐cell contact manner and downregulating programmed death‐ligand 1 (PD‐L1) expression in PMSCs, which reversed the Th17/Treg balance. Conclusion: We found that PMSCs improved renal function and pathological damage in DKD rats and modulated Th17/Treg balance through the PD‐1/PD‐L1 pathway. The electrochemical N2 reduction reaction (ENRR), driven by renewable electricity and run under ambient conditions, offers a promising sustainable avenue for carbon‐neutral NH3 production. Yet, to efficiently bind and activate the inert N2 remains challenge. Herein, effective and stable electrochemical NH3 synthesis on Sm(OH)3 via enhanced adsorption of hydrogen and dinitrogen by dual integration of sulfur dopants and oxygen vacancies (VO) is reported. The resulting S‐doped lanthanide electrocatalyst attains both a good NH3 yield rate, exceeding 21 μgNH3 h−1 mgcat.−1, and an NH3 faradaic efficiency of over 29% at −0.3 V (vs reversible hydrogen electrode) in an H‐type cell using a neutral electrolyte, figures of merit that are largely maintained after 2 days of consecutive polarization. Density functional theory calculations show that the adsorption energy barrier of N2 on S‐Sm(OH)3(VO) is greatly lowered by the introduction of VO. In addition, the S sites improve the adsorption of hydrogen produced via the Volmer reaction, which is conducive to the formation of the *N–NH intermediate (i.e., the potential determining step, PDS) on adjacent Sm sites, and thereby significantly promotes the reaction kinetics of ENRR. The PDS free energy for the catalyst is comparable with the values at the peak of the ENRR volcano plots of leading transition metal catalyst surfaces. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
