Abstract

In order to study the influence of the space linkage system on the stability of the straddle-type monorail vehicle with single-axle bogies, the sensitivity analysis of the space linkage system is identified based on the Pearson coefficient method to determine the importance of each component of the single-axle bogies. The dynamics model of straddle-type monorail vehicle with single-axle bogies is established by the multi-rigid body dynamics. The Pearson analysis method is used to identify the key parameters of the space linkage system. Based on that, dynamic response optimization model of space bar system is developed to carry out a multi-objective suspension design optimization process. The results show that the maximum sensitivity parameter for the RMS value of yaw acceleration and pitch angle acceleration is the length of the longitudinal tow bar; there is a correlation of approximately 0.088 between the stiffness K and the damping coefficient C of the hydraulic shock absorber. After optimization the root mean square of lateral acceleration of the optimized single-axle bogie vehicle is reduced by 6.0%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

A microfiber reflective ethanol gas sensing probe was designed and fabricated. The single-mode fiber was heated and stretched to prepare a microfiber taper, on which a mixed material of ZnO nanosheets and UV glue was built by the dip-coating method. The influencing factors on its sensing performance for ethanol have been discussed, including the dozen ratio of ZnO nanosheets, UV glue materials, and end-face morphology. As the concentration of ethanol gas increased, the intensity of the reflection spectrum increased with the responding sensitivity of 7.28 × 10−4 dBm/ppm. The exchanging efficiency of the optical signal is enhanced by the strong evanescent field of the microfiber taper. This sensing probe is convenient for high-density integration and working in a small space and is capable of high-performance monitoring for ethanol at room temperature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

17. Refractive index sensing properties of microfiber cascaded‐long‐tapers.

Abstract

The microfiber cascaded double‐tapers were constructed and used as a Mach–Zehnder interferometer by a two‐step fiber stretching process using a normal fiber splicer and a multifunctional fiber stretching machine. The morphological parameters, such as waist diameter and taper length were optimized by the simulation models. The refractive index sensing performance has been theoretically and experimentally demonstrated and compared. A sensitivity of 2606.39 nm/RIU of one Mach–Zehnder interferometer with microfiber double‐apers (central distance is ~1 cm) was obtained when the RI values changed from 1.3309, 1.3319, 1.3327, 1.3336, 1.3344–1.3352. This study proposed a novel way to design interesting microfiber devices, which will be a promising candidate for exploring optical fiber biosensors with compact structures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

It is presented that the thermally induced transmitted wavefront aberration of a high-reflectivity sampling mirror was detected on line using a Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor (SHWS) in the beam quality measurement of an intense laser. As a result of heat absorption in the sampling mirror with active aperture of 120 mm, thermally induced wavefront aberration emerged when the mirror was exposed to high laser intensity of several kilowatts per centimeter square. Time-dependent wavefront aberration curves were acquired, and the transmitted wavefronts were reconstructed based on Zernike mode reconstruction theory. The experimental results indicate that the magnitude of the dynamic transmitted wavefront aberration increases gradually with the growing heat deposit during laser irradiation. The maximum of wavefront aberration observed after irradiation for 5 seconds reaches 0.11 μm of root-mean-square value. After further analysis, the experimental results of dynamic aberration can be applied in modifications for the measurement results of intense laser beam quality or tests for the thermal stability of optics used in the intense laser systems.

Abstract

The discoloration and optical characteristics of the gold plating film under long-time high power laser irradiation are investigated. The fabrication process of gold plating on nickel underplate on rough surface of copper and aluminum alloy substrates is introduced. The measurement results of the diffuse reflectivity for the samples with different surface roughness indicate that roughness of the gold layer surface should be 4μm to obtain the maximum value of diffuse reflectivity. The discoloration and variation of diffuse reflectivity are experimentally studied under 2000W irradiation. The research results show that the discoloration and degrading of reflectivity are caused by the diffusion of Ni to the gold plating surface and forming NiO thin film due to the porosity of the gold film and high temperature treatment. A change of diffuse reflectivity related mechanism is described. Several plating solution recipes are used to eliminate the discoloration and mitigate the degrading of the reflectivity on gold surface.

Abstract

A broad bandwidth analog fiber optic link is developed for ultra-fast signal transmission under the circumstance with complicated electromagnetic fields. The electrical ultra-fast signal is converted to optical ones by electro-optic conversion method which operates via amplitude modulation mechanism. With several kilometers distance transmission, the optical signal is recovered by photo-electric conversion method correspondingly. The measurement results of the link indicate that its bandwidth is (0.0003-3)GHz, in-band flatness ±1dB, linear dynamic range 40dB, output peak-to-peak noise within 5mV, both of input and output standing-wave-ratios less than 2. It's applied in high power microwave experiments. The experimental results show that the 3GHz analog fiber optic link which employs electro-optic and photo-electric conversion techniques is suitable for ultra-fast pulse signals transmission. It greatly improves the bandwidth margin of the diagnosis system.
