Driving vigilance estimation is an important task for traffic safety. Nowadays, electroencephalography (EEG) and electrooculography (EOG) have made some achievements in vigilance estimation, but there are still some challenges: 1) The traditional approachs with direct multimodal fusion may face the problems of information redundancy and data dimensionality mismatch; 2) Capture key discriminative features during multimodal fusion without losing specific patterns to each modality. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a approach with fusion of EEG and EOG features in split bands, which not only preserves the information about brain activities in different bands of EEG, but also effectively integrates the relevant information of EOG. On this basis, we further propose a hierarchical multi-scale topological enhanced network (HMS-TENet). This network first introduces a pyramid pooling structure (PPS) to capture contextual relationships from different discriminative perspectives. And then we design a selective convolutional structure (SCS) for adaptive sense-field selection, which enables us to mine the desired discriminative information in small-size features. In addition, we design a topology self-aware attention to enhance the learning of representations of complex topological relationships among EEG channels. Finally, the output of the model can be selected for both regression and classification tasks, providing higher flexibility and adaptability. We demonstrate the robustness, generalizability, and utility of the proposed method based on intra-subject and cross-subject experiments on the SEED-VIG public dataset. Summary: C3N4 is widely applied in the synthesis of single-atom catalysts. However, understanding on the active site and the reaction mechanism is not fully in consensus. Especially, bare studies have considered the coordination environment of the single-atomic dopant and the effect of nitrogen vacancy on C3N4. In this study, we found that the presence of nitrogen vacancies promotes the activation of water and reduces the activation energy barrier for hydrogen generation. The results show that a synergistic effect between single-atom Pt and nitrogen vacancies enables the catalyst to achieve a superior hydrogen production rate of 3,890 μmol/g/h, which is 16.8 times higher than that of pristine C3N4. Moreover, the catalyst is also applicable for photocatalytic hydrogen production from seawater without significantly decreased hydrogen production rate. This study paves the way for the rational design and optimization of next-generation photocatalysts for sustainable energy applications, particularly in solar-driven hydrogen production.

Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) provides an indirect measure of the physiological state and growth of the maize ear by reconstructing the distribution of electrical impedance. However, the two-dimensional (2D) EIT within the electrode plane finds it challenging to comprehensively represent the spatial distribution of conductivity of the intact maize ear, including the husk, kernels, and cob. Therefore, an effective method for 3D conductivity reconstruction is necessary. In practical applications, fluctuations in the contact impedance of the maize ear occur, particularly with the increase in the number of grids and computational workload during the reconstruction of 3D spatial conductivity. These fluctuations may accentuate the ill-conditioning and nonlinearity of the EIT. To address these challenges, we introduce RFNetEIT, a novel computational framework specifically tailored for the absolute imaging of the three-dimensional electrical impedance of maize ear. This strategy transforms the reconstruction of 3D electrical conductivity into a regression process. Initially, a feature map is extracted from measured boundary voltage via a data reconstruction module, thereby enhancing the correlation among different dimensions. Subsequently, a nonlinear mapping model of the 3D spatial distribution of the boundary voltage and conductivity is established, utilizing the residual network. The performance of the proposed framework is assessed through numerical simulation experiments, acrylic model experiments, and maize ear experiments. Our experimental results indicate that our method yields superior reconstruction performance in terms of root-mean-square error (RMSE), correlation coefficient (CC), structural similarity index (SSIM), and inverse problem-solving time (IPST). Furthermore, the reconstruction experiments on maize ears demonstrate that the method can effectively reconstruct the 3D conductivity distribution.

Aegilops tauschii, the diploid wild progenitor of the D subgenome of bread wheat, is a reservoir of genetic diversity for improving bread wheat performance and environmental resilience. Here we sequenced 242 Ae. tauschii accessions and compared them to the wheat D subgenome to characterize genomic diversity. We found that a rare lineage of Ae. tauschii geographically restricted to present-day Georgia contributed to the wheat D subgenome in the independent hybridizations that gave rise to modern bread wheat. Through k-mer-based association mapping, we identified discrete genomic regions with candidate genes for disease and pest resistance and demonstrated their functional transfer into wheat by transgenesis and wide crossing, including the generation of a library of hexaploids incorporating diverse Ae. tauschii genomes. Exploiting the genomic diversity of the Ae. tauschii ancestral diploid genome permits rapid trait discovery and functional genetic validation in a hexaploid background amenable to breeding.

Asphalt pavement field performance largely depends on the stripping resistance at the bitumen–aggregate interface. However, the conventional stripping resistance evaluation method is unsuitable for direct and precise quantification of the retained bitumen film area on the aggregate surface that designates the stripping resistance between bitumen and aggregate phases under the action of vehicle wheels or moisture damage. This study proposed a novel fluorescence tracing method to quantify the exact area of aggregate coating loss in accordance with the bituminous-coated aggregate image processing technique. The fluorescence tracing image acquisition and analysis system for precisely calculating the bitumen stripping ratio of the bituminous-coated aggregate were established after the bitumen stripping test. The thresholding manner of the two-mode threshold algorithm was devised to segment the fluorescence-traced bituminous-coated aggregate image with high quality. The results demonstrated that the appropriate threshold value for segmenting the fluorescence-traced image mainly falls in the range of 60–70 for limestone, 90–110 for basalt, and 100–110 for both granites; the ability of aggregates based on their chemisorption capacity with bitumen is in the order of limestone, basalt, and granite; the fluorescence tracing method eliminated nearly 92.3% of the undesirable reflection on bitumen phase; the detected bitumen stripping ratio, raised by 65.87% on average and by 37.82% in the median value in contrast to the conventional visual detection manner. This research introduces a practical framework from an engineering perspective for visually quantifying the interpretation of the adhesive bond at the bitumen-aggregate interface with reasonable accuracy and confidence.

Hyperthermia therapy is considered an effective anticancer strategy. However, high temperature can trigger an excessive inflammatory response, leading to tumor self-protection, immunosuppression, metastasis, and recurrence. To address this issue, we reported a multifunctional photothermal nanoplatform to achieve mild hyperthermia photothermal therapy (mild PTT) based on cisplatin (DDP) and a ferrocene metal-organic framework (MOF-Fc) nanocomposite, which can specifically enhance ferroptosis-triggered oxidative stress levels and synchronously amplify mild hyperthermia PTT-mediated anticancer responses. Both in vitro and in vivo antineoplastic results verify the superiority of mild PTT with DDP/MOF-Fc@HA. The combination of DDP and MOF-Fc exhibits Fenton catalytic activity and glutathione depletion capacity, magnifying mild hyperthermia effects via the radical oxygen species (ROS)-adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-HSP silencing pathway, with important implications for clinical hyperthermia therapy.

Objective: Solving the problem of poor information exchange among the governance subjects will help to improve the governance effect. Methods: By sorting out the typical food safety crisis events of catering services in China in 2021, and analyzing the relationship between blockchain technology and food safety collaborative governance of catering services. Results: Governance information fragmentation, information asymmetry and difficulty in information traceability were realistic dilemma of multi-agent collaborative governance. Blockchain technology and multi-agent collaborative governance had the coupling of information decentralization, security, transparency and traceability. Conclusion: Construct the multi-agent collaborative governance framework enabled by blockchain technology, promote the in-depth integration of blockchain technology and food safety collaborative governance in catering services, construct the technology integration innovation mechanism, and improve laws, regulations and industry standards.

With the development of aerospace science and technology, requirements for propellants are increasingly high. The thermal decomposition behavior of ammonium perchlorate (AP) directly influences the combustion performance of composite solid propellants. Catalysts play an important role in improving the thermal decomposition behavior of AP. In this study, three novel metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) were prepared using a straightforward method, namely Co[N(CN)2]2 (1; nitrogen content: 43.5%), Cu[N(CN)2]2 (2; nitrogen content: 43.0%), and Pb[N(CN)2]2 (3; nitrogen content: 24.8%). Their crystal structures were characterized and analyzed through single-crystal X-ray diffraction, forming interesting three-dimensional architectures. Moreover, derived composite catalysts under air (4, 6, and 8) or nitrogen (5, 7, and 9) atmosphere were generated by heating MOFs 1, 2, and 3–500 ​°C at a heating rate of 5 ​°C·min−1. The derived catalyst 4 exhibited the best performance. It reduced the decomposition peak temperature of AP by 81.9 ​°C, increased the heat release from 785 ​kJ·g−1 to 1232 ​kJ·g−1, and decreased the apparent activation energy (Ea) of AP from 223 ​kJ·mol−1 to 145 ​kJ·mol−1.

Breast cancer has a high occurrence rate globally and its treatment has demonstrated clinical efficacy with the use of systemic chemotherapy and immune checkpoint blockade. Insufficient cytotoxic T lymphocyte infiltration and the accumulation of immunosuppressive cells within tumours are the primary factors responsible for the inadequate clinical effectiveness of breast cancer treatment. The stimulator of interferon genes (STING) represents a pivotal protein in the innate immune response. Upon activation, STING triggers the activation and enhancement of innate and adaptive immune functions, resulting in therapeutic benefits for malignant tumours. The STING signalling pathway in breast cancer is influenced by various factors such as deoxyribonucleic acid damage response, tumour immune microenvironment, and mitochondrial function. The use of STING agonists is gaining momentum in breast cancer research. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the cyclic guanosine monophosphate-adenosine monophosphate synthase-STING pathway, its agonists, and the latest findings related to their application in breast cancer.
