Abstract

Analog layout design heavily involves interactive processes between humans and design tools. The tools are usually designed to use scripting commands or visualized buttons for manipulation, especially for those interactive automation functionalities, which have a steep learning curve and cumbersome user experience, making a notable barrier to their adoption by designers. Aiming to address such a usability issue, this paper introduces LayoutCopilot, a pioneering multi-agent collaborative framework powered by Large Language Models (LLMs) for interactive analog layout design. LayoutCopilot simplifies human-tool interaction by converting natural language instructions into executable script commands, and it interprets high-level design intents into actionable suggestions, significantly streamlining the design process. 2. Explaining muon excess in cosmic rays using the gluon condensation model

Abstract

Ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays are often characterized indirectly by analyzing the properties of secondary cosmic ray particles produced in the collisions with air nuclei. The particle number $N_\mu$ of muon and the depth of shower maximum $X_\mathrm{max}$ after air shower cascade are mostly studied to infer the energy and mass of the incident cosmic rays. Research have shown that there is a significant excess in the observed number of muons arriving at the ground from extensive air showers (EAS) compared to the simulations using the existing cosmic ray hadronic interaction model. To explain this muon excess phenomenon, a new theoretical model, the gluon condensation model (GC model), is introduced in this paper and simulated by using the AIRES engine. We assume that the GC effect appears mainly in the first collision of the cascade leading to a significant increase in the strangeness production, consequently, the production rate of kaons is increased and $n_K/n_\pi$ is greater than the value of the usual hadronic interaction process. In the calculation, the model assumes that only pions and kaons are produced in GC state. The increase of strange particle yield would mean that the energy transferred from the hadronic cascade to electromagnetic cascade through $\pi^{0} \rightarrow 2\gamma$ decay is reduced. This would in turn increase the number of muons at the ground level due to meson decays.Our model provides a new theoretical possibility to explain the muon excess puzzle.

Abstract

The current system to manage the global pool of IP addresses is centralized in five transnational organizations, the Regional Internet Registries (RIRs). Each of these RIRs manage the address pool for a large number of countries. Because the RIRs are private organizations, they are subject to the legal framework of the country where they are based. This configuration results in a jurisdictional overflow from the legal framework of the countries where the RIR is based to all the countries that the RIRs are serving (the countries served by the RIRs de facto become subjects of the legal system of the country where the RIR is hosted). The situation is aggravated by the deployment of new security techniques such as the RPKI and BGPsec, that enable enforcement of allocations by the RIRs. In this paper we present InBlock, a blockchain-based distributed governance body aimed to provide de-centralized management of IP addresses. InBlock also aims to fulfil the same objectives as the current IP address allocation system, namely, uniqueness, fairness, conservation, aggregation, registration and minimized overhead. InBlock is implemented as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization, i.e., as a set of blockchain's smart contracts in Ethereum. Any entity may request an allocation of addresses to the InBlock registry by solely performing a (crypto)currency transfer to the InBlock. The fee required, along with the annual renewal fee, serves as a mechanism to deter stockpiling and other wasteful practices. As with any novel technology, there are many open questions about the usage of blockchains to build an IP address registry. For this reason, we believe that practical experimentation is required in order to have hands-on experiences about such a system. We propose to conduct an experiment on distributed address management using InBlock as a starting point to inform future directions in this area.

Abstract

To enhance the anesthetic efficacy and reduce toxic side effects, a strategy is proposed involving the utilization of general anesthetics of Propofol (Pro) and Etomidate (Eto) to synergistic inhibition GABA receptors simultaneously. Four‐in‐one molecular aggregates were prepared to implement this strategy, which comprised of Pro and Eto with the bridging molecule monoglyceride monooleate (GMO) and surfactant F127 through intermolecular forces. The blood‐brain barrier (BBB) targeted lactoferrin (LF) is affixed to their surface, obtaining the final molecular aggregates. By employing lactoferrin enrich aggregates to the BBB, followed by ultrasound combine microbubbles to open the BBB, a remarkable 4.5‐fold enhancement in brain drug delivery was achieved. The molecular aggregates group maintained stable parameters of heart rate, diastolic blood pressure, and systolic blood pressure. A notable increase of more than twice therapeutic index (TI) value was observed, implying their higher anesthesia efficiency and reduced toxicity. Electroencephalogram (EEG) experiments demonstrate a significant elevation in the proportion of δ waves from 28% to 80% for aggregates, accompanied by a nearly fivefold reduction in the proportion of θ waves, meaning a significant improvement in synergistic anesthesia effectiveness (interaction index 0.289) with lower drug dosage. Furthermore, mouse immunofluorescence brain slice experiments suggest Pro and Eto enter the GABA receptor simultaneously, resulting in synergistic inhibition of GABA receptors. 50. A two-microRNA signature predicts the progression of male thyroid cancer

Abstract

In various cancers, microRNAs (miRNAs) are abnormally expressed, including thyroid cancer (TC). In recent years, the incidence of TC has increased annually around the world. Compared with female patients, male TC patients are more likely to have a postoperative recurrence and lymph node metastasis, and hence need second treatments. However, the molecular biological processes underlying this phenomenon are not understood. Therefore, we collected data on miRNA expression and clinical information of male TC patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Differentially expressed miRNAs were identified between male TC tissues and matched normal tissues. The Kaplan–Meier method, univariate and multivariate Cox regressions, and receiver operating characteristic curve analyses were performed to assess the association between miRNAs and the disease-free survival of male TC patients. Gene Ontology (GO) and the Kyoto Encyclopaedia of Gene and Genome (KEGG) enrichment analyses were then used to explore the function of miRNA target genes. Furthermore, we evaluated the ability of the miRNA biomarker to predict survival in female TC patients. As a result, a total of 118 differentially expressed miRNAs were identified, including 25 upregulated and 93 downregulated miRNAs. Among them, miR-451a and miR-16-1-3p were confirmed to be independent prognostic factors for the disease-free survival rate. The target genes of miR-451a and miR-16-1-3p were identified, and functional analysis showed that these genes were enriched in 25 Go and KEGG accessions, including cell signal transduction, motor adhesion, phagocytosis, regulation of transcription, cell proliferation, angiogenesis, etc. Neither miR-451a and miR-16-1-3p, nor a prediction model based on both miRNAs effectively predicted survival in female TC patients. In conclusion, both miR-451a and miR-16-1-3p may play important roles in the processes of male TC. The two-miRNA signature involving miR-1258 and miR-193a may serve as a novel prognostic biomarker for male TC patients.
