Abstract

This paper proposes TaDaa: Ticket Assignment Deep learning Auto Advisor, which leverages the latest Transformers models and machine learning techniques quickly assign issues within an organization, like customer support, help desk and alike issue ticketing systems. The project provides functionality to 1) assign an issue to the correct group, 2) assign an issue to the best resolver, and 3) provide the most relevant previously solved tickets to resolvers. We leverage one ticketing system sample dataset, with over 3k+ groups and over 10k+ resolvers to obtain a 95.2% top 3 accuracy on group suggestions and a 79.0% top 5 accuracy on resolver suggestions. We hope this research will greatly improve average issue resolution time on customer support, help desk, and issue ticketing systems.

Abstract

Transformers have become a predominant machine learning workload, they are not only the de-facto standard for natural language processing tasks, but they are also being deployed in other domains such as vision and speech recognition. Many of the transformer-based applications are real-time systems such as machine translation and web search. These real time systems often come with strict end-to-end inference latency requirements. Unfortunately, while the majority of the transformer computation comes from matrix multiplications, transformers also include several non-linear components that tend to become the bottleneck during an inference. In this work, we accelerate the inference of BERT models on the tensor streaming processor. By carefully fusing all the nonlinear components with the matrix multiplication components, we are able to efficiently utilize the on-chip matrix multiplication units resulting in a deterministic tail latency of 130 $\mu$s for a batch-1 inference through BERT-base, which is 6X faster than the current state-of-the-art.

Abstract

An equilibrium model was developed to study the physical and chemical aspects of anaerobic fixed-bed biofilm reactors. Development of the equilibrium model was based on the fact that the total carbon dioxide production during an anaerobic process is distributed between the liquid and gaseous phase according to Henry's Law. Similarly, the same relationship holds for methane production. By assuming that the carbonate system is the only source of alkalinity in the anaerobic system, the equilibrium model was developed. The equilibrium model described well the behavior of anaerobic fixed-bed biofilm reactors, which was verified by the experimental results. An anaerobic fixed-bed biofilm reactor with 15 L of packing material was the subject of this study. The reactor was fed with synthetic leachate solution made from a mixture of organic acids to an organic loading of 3.33 kg COD/m[subscript 3][center dot]day. The reactor was operated to test the effects of two operational parameters, namely, alkalinity and hydraulic retention time (HRT). The results demonstrated that equilibrium conditions exist for all operational conditions and, as a result, can be accurately modeled by an equilibrium model.

Abstract

Wang, Bill Liu, Qing Zhou The purpose of this research was the validation of an offset deformable barrier (ODB) model using component and sled testing and simulations of both. The material parameters developed in component punch tests and their simulations work well for the ODB model. The finite model developed in this report results in good correlation between sled tests and simulations and this ODB model can now be used in vehicle simulations. This will allow the various ODB tests to be better modelled with better predictions of vehicle response. Thus, crashworthiness engineers may be able to design better for the ODB test. An additional finding of interest was that the honeycomb material in an ODB is somewhat unstable, because its strength is approximately two orders of magnitude greater in the primary loading direction than in the other two directions.

24. On-Chip Compensated Wide Output Range Boost Converter with Fixed-Frequency Adaptive Off-Time Control for LED Driver Applications

Abstract

An on-chip compensated wide output range boost converter with fixed-frequency adaptive off-time current-mode control is presented. The small signal characteristic of the boost converter with current-mode control is reviewed, and an adaptive current sensing technique is proposed to reduce the variation of phase margin at different output voltages. On-chip compensation is achieved with a Type II compensator. Adaptive off-time control is adopted for its fast response and no need for slope compensation, while its disadvantage of varying switching frequency is eliminated by the proposed off-time generator. The IC controller was fabricated in a 0.5 mu m 2P3M BCD 40 V process. Measurement results confirm that an output range of 5.5 V similar to 36 V with an input voltage of 5 V is achieved. The switching frequency is fixed at 1 MHz with a variation of +/-1%. The measured peak efficiency and maximum output power are 92.9% and 8.6 W, respectively. For a load step of 200 mA using a 3.3-mu H inductor and a 20-mu F output capacitor, overshoot and undershoot of the load transient responses are smaller than 1% of the output voltage.

32. Computational Modeling for Cr and S Poisoning Pathways on La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3Surfaces

Abstract

Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are highly efficient devices for energy conversion. However, their performance is hindered by the poisoning of their oxygen electrode materials by chromium and sulfur species. While previous studies have proposed a nucleation theory of Cr and S poisoning as a mechanism, little is known about the adsorption behaviors and compound formation steps during the poisoning process. This knowledge is critical for understanding the poisoning mechanisms and developing effective mitigation strategies. In this study, the state-of-the-art SOFC oxygen electrode material, La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3(LSCF), is used as a modeling system. A realistic surface structure will be constructed by grand canonical Monte Carlo (GCMC) simulation. Then, the adsorption energies as a function of surface chemistry will be calculated using density functional theory (DFT). The results revealed the importance of surface chemistry in determining the energetics and kinetics of precursor adsorption and compound formation.

33. Understanding Temperature Stability of Surface Cation Dopants on LSCF Electrodes

Abstract

State-of-the-art solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) oxygen electrode materials such as La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3-δ(LSCF) continue to be plagued by degradation primarily through strontium (Sr) segregation to the electrode surface and subsequent passivating poisoning reactions with chromium- and sulfur-containing species. Surface infiltration of more oxidizable cations is of interest for LSCF electrodes in order to reduce the electrostatic driver of Sr segregation and due its reported success in reducing Sr segregation and electrochemical degradation on LSC electrodes. In this work, we investigate the thermal stability of Hf, Nd, and Pr infiltrated cations at porous LSCF electrode surfaces. These select cations are of interest as surface infiltrates due to their more oxidizable nature. We demonstrate that infiltrated Hf, Nd, and Pr cations are not thermally stable at the LSCF electrode surface at standard SOFC operating temperatures, diffusing substantially away from the surface above 800°C.
