Abstract

Optical spectra of transitions between the 3H6 and 3F4 manifolds of Tm3+ ions in disordered crystal lattices of Gd3Ga5O12–Gd3Al5O12, Lu2SiO5–Gd2SiO5 solid solutions and in LiNbO3 crystals were recorded at several temperatures between 80 K and 300 K. Obtained experimental data were analyzed to examine the spectroscopic peculiarities of Tm3+ transitions that governs the temperature dependence of absorption and emission properties. The impact of structural disorder on the lasing ability at cryogenic temperatures upon resonant (in-band) optical pumping was assessed. In particular, it was found that peak stimulated emission cross section values at respective free generation wavelengths increase by a factor of two when samples examined are cooled down from 300 K to 80 K. At 80 K the laser operation wavelength can be tuned in regions 1940–2063 nm for GAGG: Tm3+, 1764–1853 nm for LNO: Tm3+ and 1778–2074 nm for LGSO: Tm3+. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Single crystals of CaF2 and SrF2 containing Er3+ ions with concentrations between 0.01 and 0.6 at% respectively, were grown using the temperature gradient technique (TGT). Absorption spectra related to the 4I15/2 → 4I13/2 transition of Er3+ ions were measured at 5 K to investigate the properties of the crystal field splitting of the 4I13/2 multiplet, and at several temperatures in the region 80 K – 300 K to determine the effect of temperature on the spectral bands. The 4I13/2 → 4I15/2 luminescence spectra were recorded within the same temperature range as for absorption measurement. The analysis of absorption and luminescence spectra provides an in-depth knowledge on the effect of temperature on the factors that govern the efficiency of resonant optical pumping near 1.6 µm and the resulting lasing ability of Er3+ ions imbedded in CaF2 and SrF2 hosts. Abstract

Celem badań było przeanalizowanie wpływu parametrów syntezy wysokotemperaturowej na właściwości ceramicznego proszku Ca-a-sialon domieszkowanego europem. Związek o stechiometrycznym wzorze EuoarCao^Si^Al^OogNis^ został przygotowany metodą reakcji w fazie stałej z odpowiednich tlenków. Si3N4 oraz CaCXb. Reakcje wysokotemperaturowe pro- wadzono w zakresie temperatur 1600-1700*0 przez 2-8h w atmosferze redukcyjnej (N2+CO). Morfologię oraz skład chemicz- ny proszków zbadano przy użyciu skaningowego mikroskopu elektronowego z przystawką do mikroanalizy rentgenowskiej (SEM/EDS). Skład fazowy analizowano przy pomocy metod dyfrakcji rentgenowskiej (XRD). Określono stosunek tlen/azot w otrzymanych związkach. Scharakteryzowano zmiany właściwości optycznych na podstawie widm wzbudzenia, emisji oraz odbicia dyfuzyjnego (PL). Otrzymane wyniki prezentują wpływ temperatury syntezy na skład fazowy oraz intensywność emisji luminoforu Ca-a-Sialon:Eu2T.

Abstract

High resolution spectra of optical absorption and luminescence were recorded at temperatures below 6 K for Pr3+, Sm3+, Er3+, and Yb3+ ions embedded in Gd3Ga5O12–Gd3Al5O12 and Lu2SiO5–Gd2SiO5 solid solution crystals fabricated by the Czochralski method. Detailed analysis of acquired spectral bands related to transitions between the lowest energy components (0–0) lines of initial and terminal multiplets provided quantitative information regarding bandwidths, peak transition energies and number of band components. Combination of these data with structural peculiarities of the hosts made it possible to propose the interpretation of optical interaction in systems under study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
