Abstract Background The oral health of older people is closely related to their overall health. Timely and effective intervention in oral issues is necessary to maintain their overall health. This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of an Oral Health Promotion Program (OHPP) in Geriatric Care Facilities (GCFs). Methods The OHPP was implemented in two GCFs and evaluated using a pre/post-design. Questionnaires on self-efficacy and attitude for providing oral care were sent to 42 nurse participants before and three months after the implementation of the OHPP. Outcomes of 295 patient participants were assessed at four time points (T1-baseline, T2-one month, T3-two months, and T4-three months post-implementation) including Activities of Daily Living (ADL), Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), and Oral Health Assessment Tool (OHAT). Results The oral health and daily activity ability of patient participants showed an improving trend at four time points pre/post-implementation of the OHPP. BackgroundQuit smoking, moderate drinking, exercise, and healthy eating habits are all known to decrease the risk of stroke. As a result, understanding the health behaviors of high risk groups for stroke is crucial. Health behavior is influenced by knowledge, social environment, and health beliefs. However, little research has been done on these relationships. For a better grasp of the relationships mentioned above, consider using the COM-B model (capability, opportunity, motivation, and behavior). The purpose of this study was to investigate the variables related to health behavior and to test the mediating effect of health beliefs.MethodsThe cross-sectional study was carried out at a physical examination center of a tertiary hospital in Shanghai, China. 986 high-risk populations of stroke have been tested using the Health Behavior Scale (HBS-SP), Stroke Knowledge Questionnaire (SKQ), Health Beliefs Questionnaire (HBS), and Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). The structural equation modeling was used in this study.ResultsThe scores for MSPSS, SKQ, HBS, and HBS-SP were 60.64 ± 13.72, 26.60 ± 9.77, 157.71 ± 34.34, and 2.46 ± 0.41, respectively. The revised model fits well (approximate root mean square error = 0.042; comparative fit index = 0.946). The health behavior was obviously and positively correlated to social Support, stroke knowledge, and health beliefs. Moreover, health belief has a mediating effect on the relation of social support, stroke knowledge, and health behavior.ConclusionChinese high risk groups for stroke have a mediate level of health behaviors. Factors associated with health behaviors are knowledge of stroke, health beliefs, and social support. The COM-B-based model can be used to explain the health behavior of individuals at risk of stroke and to guide the formulation of effective health management programs.

Abstract Aims The aim of this study was to analyse the status, hotspots and trends of research on oral care for the elderly in mainland China in the past 20 years through bibliometrics, which aims to provide new ideas and targets for future clinical work and research. Design Bibliometric analysis. Methods Relevant literature was retrieved from China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, China Science and Technology Journal Database, Web of Science and PubMed. NoteExpress, Co‐Occurrence and CiteSpace were used to analyse bibliometric features in terms of year of publication, journal of publication, authors, institution and keywords. Results A total of 716 related articles were obtained. The number of publications shows an increasing trend over time, only 2017–2021; 309 papers were published, accounting for 43.2% of the total number of publications. A total of 238 articles were published in Science Citation Index journals or Chinese core journals, accounting for 33.2% of the total number of articles. The study of oral health‐related quality of life in the elderly is a hot research topic. There is a lack of research on the elderly living in elderly care facilities.

Online detection of energy efficiency automatically has important significance for evaluating new production lines and detecting the performance of existing production lines in modern intelligent manufacturing and smart industry. To solve the shortcomings of existing detection systems, a novel online detection system of energy efficiency is proposed in this paper. Within a time interval, the proposed system detects the production quantity and the energy consumption of the production line by a production quantity detection module and a power consumption sensing module, then calculates and obtains the production efficiency during the period and displays to users by output module. Experimental results show that the proposed system has high practical value.

Automatic monitoring of energy efficiency is important to evaluate and debug new production lines, and to detect the performance of existing production lines. A novel monitoring method is proposed based on intelligent model of fuzzy computing technology. The method is modeled as a 2-dimension input and 1-dimension output computing model. In which, the production quantity and the energy consumption are adopted as the 2-dimension feature parameters, the 1-dimension output is defined as energy efficiency of the production line. The application of advanced fuzzy computing technology effectively overcomes the inflexible disadvantages of the manual detecting methods and the traditional modeling methods. Experimental results show that the proposed model method runs steadily and reliability with high precision.

Temporal changes in total flavonoid content (TFC), composition, free radical scavenging activity and metabolism-related gene expression of three Prunus humilis cultivars with distinctively different fruit colors were investigated in this study. The highest fruit TFCs of all three cultivars were observed at the initial sampling stage (young-fruit stage, YFS), which then declined gradually until fruit ripening. The dark-red-fruited cultivar ‘Jinou 1’ had the highest TFC, followed by the yellow-red-fruited cultivar ‘Nongda 3’ and the yellow-fruited cultivar ‘Nongda 5’. Thirteen flavonoid compounds were found in the three cultivars by using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and the content of most flavonoid compounds gradually decreased throughout the fruit-ripening process, with the exception of cyanidin-3-O-glucoside (C3G). C3G, as the main anthocyanin in P. humilis fruits, increased drastically during the fruit-coloring process of cultivars ‘Jinou 1’ and ‘Nongda 3’, while it was not detected in the developing fruits of cultivar ‘Nongda 5’. The antioxidant activity assay (DPPH, FRAP and ABTS) revealed that fruits of all three cultivars at YFS also had the highest antioxidant activities, and cultivar ‘Jinou 1’ had the highest antioxidant activities. Correlation analysis revealed that the antioxidant activities were significantly positively correlated with the TFCs and contents of the main compounds such as catechin, proanthocyanidin B1 and phloretin-2′,4-O-diglucoside (p < 0.01). Moreover, gene expression analysis showed that the flavonoid biosynthetic genes had different expression patterns in the three cultivars. The expression levels of ChCHS, ChCHI, ChF3H, ChDFR, ChLDOX and ChUFGT increased gradually with fruit ripening in cultivar ‘Jinou 1’, while all flavonoid-related genes in cultivar ‘Nongda 5’ decreased gradually during fruit development. The results from our study could significantly contribute to the deeper understanding of flavonoid accumulation mechanisms in P. humilis fruits and also help facilitate the targeted cultivar development and the utilization as a functional food of this fruit species.

The fruits of Cerasus humilis have a unique and pleasant aroma. In this study, the volatile compounds of ripe fruits of 53 C. humilis genotypes were extracted via headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) and identified via gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS). In total, 253 volatile compounds were detected, among which esters and terpenoids were the most dominant volatile components. We also found that the total volatiles contents varied significantly among genotypes with different ripening periods, with middle-ripening periods genotypes having higher total volatile content compared to either early- or late-ripening period genotypes. Moreover, genotypes with yellow fruit peels had higher total volatile contents. Our study revealed the volatile profiles of 53 different C. humilis genotypes and their potential linkages with other fruit parameters. These results should help fruit researchers gain a deeper understanding of the biochemical, physiological, and molecular mechanisms of fruit aroma development for high fruit aroma-targeted breeding of fruit cultivars.

Abstract Aims To investigate the oral health status of aged residents and explore the possible factors associated with oral health and the effect of cognitive impairment (CI) on it in geriatric care facilities (GCF) using oral health assessment tool (OHAT) in Shanghai, China. Background Oral health is closely associated with overall health. Problems like missing teeth, dental caries, dental pain, periodontal diseases, oral infections and dysphagia are common in GCFs. Furthermore, residents in GCFs with CI are becoming a dominant group and this prevalence increases with age. Introduction Ankle pump exercise (APE) is an effective method to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in the lower extremities. However, traditional APE at a frequency of 3 times/min applied in the clinic lacked high compliance, and individuals were found to prefer an APE of 30 times/min. This study aimed to compare the effects of APEs with the above two different frequencies on the venous hemodynamics and fatigue of lower extremities. Methods The study applied a randomized cross-over design, and 307 healthy adults were randomly assigned into two groups, whose left feet performed 5 minutes of traditional APE (3 times/min, after 10 minutes of rest) and 5 minutes of selected APE (30 times/min, after 10 minutes of rest) in different orders. The diameters and blood flow velocities of the external iliac vein, femoral vein, and popliteal vein of the left extremities were recorded with the color doppler ultrasound when participants were at rest and after 5 minutes of traditional or selected APE. The fatigue of lower extremities was assessed with the Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE) after the participants performed 5 minutes of different APEs. Results After both traditional APE and selected APE, the diameters and blood flow (peak systolic) velocities of the external iliac vein, femoral vein, and popliteal vein increased significantly in the participants (P.05). However, participants reported that traditional APE caused higher fatigue, and 252 (82.1%) participants preferred APE at 30 times/min. Conclusion Both traditional and selected APE could increase venous blood flow in the lower extremity. Despite the equivalent effects, the selected APE of 30 times/min may cause less fatigue than the traditional one of 3 times/min.

BackgroundIn recent years, oral care for older people has received extensive attention in long-term care facilities. The Self-Efficacy for Providing Mouth Care (SE-PMC) and Attitudes for Providing Mouth Care (A-PMC) scale evaluated the self-efficacy and attitude of nursing staff while providing oral care. However, whether this scale is valid and reliable for Chinese nursing staff in China remains unverified. This study aims to translate the English version of SE-PMC and A-PMC into Chinese and determine their reliability and validity.MethodsAfter obtaining the author's consent, the procedure for a double-back translation and cross-cultural adaptation was conducted to develop the Chinese version of SE-PMC and A-PMC. The validity and reliability of the Chinese version of SE-PMC and A-PMC were evaluated in a cross-sectional observational study with 852 nurses from 42 Geriatric Care Facilities (GCFs). Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) (n = 427) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) (n = 425) were conducted to test the construct validity and quality of the factor structures. We applied the item discrimination test and homogeneity test for item analysis. Cronbach's alpha coefficient and split-half coefficient were adopted to evaluate internal consistency.ResultsThe Chinese version of SE-PMC (11 items, 3 factors) and A-PMC (11 items, 2 factors) included 22 items, reflecting adequate construct validity and reliability. In addition, test-retest reliability was 0.809 for SE-PMC and 0.811 for A-PMC, evincing good stability. The Cronbach's α coefficient of SE-PMC was 0.831, with each factor ranging from 0.793~0.906. The Cronbach's α coefficient of the A-PMC was 0.768, with each factor ranging from 0.814~0.824. Item-Content Validity Index (I-CVI) of SE-PMC and A-PMC ranged from 0.84 ~1.00 and 0.82~1.00, respectively.ConclusionThe Chinese version of SE-PMC and A-PMC was validated as a reliable assessment tool to evaluate the self-efficacy and attitude of nursing staff in GCFs for providing oral care in China.

Objective Research is lacking regarding the experiences of patients after colostomy, which is needed so as to take necessary specific actions. In this study, we aimed to describe the trajectory of symptom clusters experienced by patients after colostomy over time. Methods This was a longitudinal observational study using data from 149 patients with colorectal cancer after colostomy. We investigated symptoms and symptom clusters at 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year after colostomy. Results Four main symptom clusters were identified, including a psychological symptom cluster, digestive and urinary symptom cluster, lack of energy symptom cluster, and pain symptom cluster in patients after colostomy in the first year after surgery. We further explored the symptom trajectory. Conclusions We explored symptom clusters and the trajectory of symptom resolution in patients after colostomy during the first year after surgery. Four stages were proposed to describe the different statuses of symptom clusters experienced by patients. Our findings may provide insight into how to improve symptom management and postoperative quality of life for patients after colostomy.

Objective: To find out whether warm bladder irrigation fluid can decrease the occurrence of perioperative hypothermia, blood loss and shiver in patients treated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Method: A comprehensive literature review and meta-analysis that included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) related to temperature of irrigation fluid in the perioperative treatment for BPH was taken by researchers. The relevant literature were searched in Chinese database, such as Retrieval Chinese Journal Full-text Database, VIP Journal Database, Wanfang database, as well as in English search engine and database, including Embase, Cochrane and Medline till January 2018. The UPF3B-dependent branch of the nonsense-mediated RNA decay (NMD) pathway is critical for human cognition. Here, we examined the role of UPF3B in the olfactory system. Single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis demonstrated considerable heterogeneity of olfactory sensory neuron (OSN) cell populations in wild-type (WT) mice, and revealed that UPF3B loss influences specific subsets of these cell populations. UPF3B also regulates the expression of a large cadre of antimicrobial genes in OSNs, and promotes the selection of specific olfactory receptor (Olfr) genes for expression in mature OSNs (mOSNs). RNA-seq and Ribotag analyses identified classes of mRNAs expressed and translated at different levels in WT and Upf3b-null mOSNs. Integrating multiple computational approaches, UPF3B-dependent NMD target transcripts that are candidates to mediate the functions of NMD in mOSNs were identified in vivo. Together, our data provides a valuable resource for the olfactory field and insights into the roles of NMD in vivo.

Emerging evidence suggests that the tripartite motif containing 62 (TRIM62), a member of the TRIM family, plays an important role in antiviral processes. The objective of the study was to explore the role of TRIM62 in reticuloendotheliosis virus (REV) infection and its potential molecular mechanism. We first demonstrated that the REV infection affected the TRIM62 expression first upregulated and then downregulated in CEF cells. Next, we evaluated the effect of TRIM62 on viral replication. Overexpression of TRIM62 decreased REV replication. On the contrary, silencing of endogenously expressed TRIM62 increased viral replication. Then, to explore the necessity of domains in TRIM62's negative regulation on viral replication, we transfected CEF cells with TRIM62 domain deletion mutants. Deletion domain partially abolished TRIM62's antiviral activity. The effect of SPRY domain deletion was the highest and that of coiled-coil was the lowest. Further, we identified 18 proteins that coimmunoprecipitated and interacted with TRIM62 by immunocoprecipitation and mass spectrometry analysis. Strikingly, among which, both Ras-related protein Rab-5b (RAB5B) and Arp2/3 complex 34-kDa subunit (ARPC2) were involved in actin cytoskeletal pathway. Altogether, these results strongly suggest that chicken TRIM62 provides host defense against viral infection, and all domains are required for its action. RAB5B and ARPC2 may play important roles in its negative regulation processes.

Objective: To investigate the underlying mechanism of lncRNA TUG1 in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Methods: The expression of TUG1 was defined by qRT-PCR. The apoptotic cells were detected by flow cytometry assay. The cell migration and invasion were measured by scratch assay and Transwell assay. The level of ERK pathway was detected using Western blot. Results: Compared with normal tissues and cells, the expression of TUG1 was up-regulated in pancreatic cancer tissue and cells. Meanwhile, knockdown of TUG1 could promote PDAC cells apoptosis and inhibit PDAC cells viability, migration and invasion. In addition, overexpression of TUG1 enhanced the gemcitabine chemoresistance of PDAC cells. Surprisingly, gemcitabine combined with SCH772984 (a suppressor of ERK pathway) could reverse the drug resistance resulted from overexpression of TUG1. Objective: The results of postoperative delirium (POD) warrant testing for prevention. The purpose of this study was to determine whether a nursing intervention targeting risk factors could decrease the incidence of POD among patients who had coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in China. Methods: A prospective before-after study was conducted between April 2014 and April 2015. A nursing delirium intervention protocol targeting risk factors for delirium was performed for 141 patients undergoing CABG in a cardiothoracic ICU from November 2014 to April 2015. Intervention consisted of screening for delirium risk factors, followed by targeted risk factor modification, including pain control, early catheter removal, patient orientation using the 5W1H procedure, increased family visits, minimizing care-related interruptions, comfortable nursing and monitoring for sleeping difficulties. Outcomes of the Intervention Group were compared with those of the Control Group for 137 CABG patients from April 2014 to October 2014. Delirium was assessed using the confusion assessment method for the intensive care unit (CAM-ICU). The sample size was justified by PASS2000, based on previous data of delirium incidence in our institution (30%). Main results: Delirium incidence during the first seven postoperative days was significantly lower in the Intervention Group at 13.48% (19/141) vs. 29.93% (41/137) for the Control Group (χ2 = 11.112, P = 0.001). In addition, POD in the Intervention Group occurred between the 3rd and 6th postoperative days, while POD in the Control Group mainly occurred on the first three days postoperatively. Background and objective Whether gemcitabine plus platinum chemotherapy is superior to gemcitabine or platinum single-agent chemotherapy for patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is still in dispute, and the aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of gemcitabine combining platinum chemotherapy for patients with NSCLC. Methods We searched relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) from VIP, CBM, CNKI, the Cochrane library, PUBMED and EMBASE. We traced the related references and experts in this field and communicated with other authors to obtain the information that has not been found. We made quality assessment of qualified RCTs assessed by the exclusion and inclusion criteria and used RevMan 5.0 provided by the Cochrane Collaboration to perform meta-analysis. Results Four RCTs were eligible and included 984 patients. Meta analysis results suggested that: compared with gecitabine single-agent chemotherapy, the combination had a statistically significant benefit in increasing the response rate (OR=3.29, 95%CI: 1.79-6.05, P=0.000 1) and 2-year survival rate (OR=3.22, 95%CI: 1.45-7.12, P=0.004) while increased the risk of the incidence of adverse reactions, especially the grade 3-4 thrombocytopenia (RR=8.16, 95%CI: 1.71-39.07, P=0.009); compared with cisplatin single-agent chemotherapy, the combination had a statistically significant benefit in increasing the response rate (OR=3.51, 95%CI: 2.20-5.60, P

Background and objective It was unclear whether advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients could benefit from erlotinib therapy. This study was aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of NSCLC patients treated with erlotinib. Methods The relevant randomized controlled trials (RCT) were searched from VIP, CMB, CNKI, PubMed, EMBASE and The Cochrane Library. The related references and experts in this field were traced, and other authors were communicated with to obtain the information that has not been found. Quality assessment of qualified RCTs assessed by the exclusion and inclusion criteria and RevMan 5.0 provided by the Cochrane Collaboration was used to perform meta-analysis. Results Three RCTs involving 2 969 patients were included. Meta analysis results suggested that erlotinib was superior to placebo for one year survival rate (OR=1.18, 95%CI: 1.01-1.38), tumor response rate (OR=1.24, 95%CI: 1.03-1.49), median overall survival, median progression-free survival and tumor responses duration. At the same time, the incidence of grade 3-4 skin rash (OR=16.33, 95%CI: 7.01-38.02) and diarrhea (OR=5.02, 95%CI: 2.93-8.60) of the adverse reactions was increased. Conclusion Advanced non-small cell lung cancer patients could benefit from Erlotinib therapy, but the incidence of skin rash and diarrhea was significantly increased, and in the absence of damage to the blood system, serious liver and kidney damage, cardiac toxicity, etc, there were no difference with placebo.

With the continuously increasing number of vehicles, particularly in cities, there are more and more abnormal traffic events occurring on road, which easily cause road congestion. In vehicular sensor networks (VSNs), with the intervehicle cooperative communication, vehicle nodes can detect the abnormal traffic events and disseminate the related information to the interesting vehicles or persons. This paper gives out a survey of the abnormal traffic information detection and transmission mechanisms in VSNs. Firstly, we overview the origin, characteristic, and application of VSNs. Meanwhile, the definition and features of traffic abnormal information are also introduced and presented. Then, we put more energy on elaborating the existing information detection and transmission mechanisms based on VSNs. Finally, the challenges and problems are discussed.
