The production planning problem of a thermoplastics plant in Yugoslavia is examined. The problem pertains to the optimization of the production mix and striking a balance between manufacturing capacity and material requirements given that the raw materials, machines, tools and personnel may be assigned to different processes to produce the same goods. To this end, multi-criteria linear programming methods were used to derive a solution that generates direct costs and locates causes of infeasibility.
