Den här studiens syfte var att undersöka hur vuxna inlärare på grundvux-nivå tillägnarsig bestämdhet utifrån frågeställningen till vilken grad de behärskarbestämdhetsmorfemen. Data samlades in genom att 20 deltagare fick återberätta en kortanimerad film. Transkriptionerna analyserades sedan med performansanalys avförekomster i obligatorisk kontext och strukturen dubbel bestämdhet analyseradessärskilt. Studien replikerade till största del tidigare forskning på utveckling avbestämdhet. Deltagarna behärskade bäst de morfemen som bara används i obestämda NP,närmare bestämt obestämd artikel och obestämd plural, sedan adjektivets bestämdasuffix, enklitisk bestämd artikel och fristående bestämd artikel och sist bestämd formplural. Resultatet bekräftar också att dubbel bestämdhet tillägnas sent. Ingen avdeltagarna bemästrade konstruktionen fullt ut och stor variation kunde ses i de formerdeltagarna använde. Den vanligaste feltypen i konstruktionen var bortfall av enklitiskbestämd artikel, vilket avviker något från tidigare resultat. Dessutom hanterar deltagarnabestämdhetens betydelse med större säkerhet än dess form, vilket visas av få speciesfelkontra formfel. Slutsatsen av studien är att deltagarna har kommit långt i att tillägna sigbestämdhet, men att de behöver fortsatt stöttning på vägen mot avancerad nivå i svenskasom andraspråk.

Despite extensive research, a “best method” for teaching vocabulary has not been identified. The present study investigates the efficacy of two different practice materials for vocabulary retention, a fill-in-the-blank exercise and an original sentence writing exercise, from the hypothesis that a fill-in-the-blank exercise will be superior in terms of vocabulary retention on an immediate posttest. By testing this hypothesis, the study aims to contribute to the understanding of what is best practice in vocabulary teaching. The participants were 20 adult EFL learners studying at Basic Adult Education level. A controlled experiment using a Presentation, Practice, Production (PPP) structure was used. The cartoon public service announcement Dumb Ways to Die was used as the medium for presentation of twelve level and frequency scanned target nouns, followed by 10 minutes of practice time with either a fill-in-the-blank exercise or an original sentence writing exercise. Finally, an immediate posttest ensued. The result shows that the participants who practised using the fill-in-the-blank exercise performed better on the posttest, albeit not significantly better. In addition, further analysis indicates that some items of target vocabulary may have been previously known by the participants or easier to guess the meaning of. The pedagogical implications point towards using fill-in-the-blank exercises in the initial stages of vocabulary learning, after target vocabulary has been presented, while original sentence writing exercises appear better suited in later stages when more aspects of word knowledge have been acquired.

This paper investigates an initial model for Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) using a cost function where the operation and condition of a production process are reflected, and the quality of the output/product and the production process (as well as safety aspects) can be considered. The outset of the study is based on empirical data collected from five manufacturing companies, and proposes an initial model for ZDM with an Industry 4.0 perspective. The initial ZDM model has a generic setup for a real-life system and its replication as a digital twin using system models based on a representation of a generic production process with its connected control system, and potential interconnections between unit processes. It is based on concepts from system theory of dynamic systems and principles from condition monitoring and fault detection. In that way the model is deemed as highly generalizable for manufacturing and process industry companies as well as for some critical infrastructures with production and distribution systems. The proposed model with its cost function setup is analyzed and discussed in the context of ZDM. It is concluded that production processes in the manufacturing and process industry can be made more intelligent and interoperable using this approach. Improved sustainability, competitiveness, efficiency and profitability of companies are foreseen welcomed secondary effects. This publication ‘Process-SME Project – Exceeded Expectations’ introduces a Nordic project Process-SME, which main objective is to improve the competitiveness of SMEs whose customers are found within the process, mining, energy, oil, and gas industries. The project supports these SMEs by identifying their needs and potential opportunities, developing new business models, building European partnerships and applying for EU-level funding for project proposals on SMEs’ business behalf. Ribosomes are large macromolecules responsible for protein synthesisand they consist of both RNA and proteins. Each ribosome is made of one large and one small subunit. Even though the ribosome is one of the most studied machineries in the cell there is a gap in our understanding of how this macromolecule functions in vivo. In this project we aimed to develop a method for tracking a specific subset of ribosomes using super-resolution fluorescence microscopy. This was achieved by using the MS2 coat protein (MS2CP) fused to a fluorescent marker and by modifying ribosomes to have the RNA loop to which theMS2CP binds with high affinity. We were able to obtain the most promising results when the MS2CP was fused to a Halotag with the dye JF549 attached to it. The JF549 has good cell permeability which allows simple and efficient labelling of ribosomes. To be able to observe translation of specific mRNAs we used this labelling strategy to track orthogonal ribosomes which do not recognise mRNA normally produced in cells but can translate mRNAs with a modified 5’-UTR.Orthogonal ribosomes were tested with several different 5´-UTRs. With the construct for which we obtained the highest expression level we observed that up to 43% of the labelled orthogonal ribosomes were engaged in translation of the specific mRNA. The system will make it possible to determine how the sequence of a particular mRNA will affect its in vivo translation.

The case study, spanning three contexts, concerns a multi-usable cloud service platform for big data collection and analytics and how the development pace and efficiency of it has been improved 50-75% by using the Arrowhead framework and changing development processes/practices. Further, additional results captured during the case study are related to technology, competencies and skills, organization, management, infrastructure, and service and support. A conclusion is that when offering a complex offer such as an Industrial Product-Service System, comprising sensors, hardware, communications, software, cloud service platform, etc., it is necessary that the technology, business model, business set up and organization all go hand in hand during the development and later operation, as all “components” are required for a successful result. Studiens syfte var att undersöka vilken inlärningsmetod som ledde till snabbast inlärning av substantiv, explicit eller implicita metoder. Hypotesen var att explicita metoder skulle vara överlägset sett till antalet inlärda substantiv över en begränsad tid. Deltagarna i undersökningen var 46 vuxna elever i svenska som andraspråk på grundläggande vuxenutbildning. Ordinlärningen bestod av ett häfte i pappersform innehållande 40 målord lika fördelade på en implicit och en explicit inlärningsdel. Tre versioner av häftet konstruerades för att kontrollera för att deltagarnas prestationer var beroende av inlärningsmetod inte av deras ordförråd eller i vilken ordning inlärningsdelarna gjordes. Direkt efter inlärningen genomfördes ett test i ordkunskap. Resultatet bekräftade hypotesen då deltagarna testade bättre på de substantiv de hade mött i den explicita inlärningsdelen oavsett vilket häfte de hade arbetat med. Resultatet bidrog med kunskap kring hur effektiv undervisning kring inlärning av substantiv kan bedrivas.

This is an updated version of the ProcessIT. EU roadmap for industrial process automation, which was initially released in 2013 to provide guidance and input for process industry companies, providers of process industrial IT- and automation solutions, researchers as well as policy makers and bodies/initiatives that craft calls for RDI-projects. The main objective is for European process industry to stay competitive, profitable and sustainable. Thus, to support European process industry in its industrial process automation endeavours, the ProcessIT. EU roadmap outlines three top-level needs: sustainable production, competence management and trust, security, safety and privacy. These three top-level needs intersect the following ten R&D areas: • Productivity, efficiency, scalability and flexibility • Sustainability through circular economy - circular economy through industrial internet • Distributed production/modular factories and services • Artificial Intelligence and Big Data • Autonomous plants and remote operations • Platform economy • Cybersecurity • Safety - human, machine and environment • Competences and quality of work • Human-Machine Interfaces and Machine- to-Machine communications, which in turn are used as building blocks in the nine gamechangers . The gamechangers aim to influence the process industries’ competitiveness, profitability and sustainability . The gamechangers are listed below: • Modular factory for distributed and automated production • Live virtual twins of raw-materials, process and products • Increased information transparency between field and ERP • Real-time data analytics • Dynamic control and optimisation of output tolerances • Process industry as an integrated and agile part of the energy system • Management of critical knowledge • Semi-autonomous automation engineering • Integrated operational and cybersecurity management Finally, the ProcessIT. EU roadmap provides an insight into what may need to be considered on strategic and tactical levels, in terms of: objec-tives, R&D areas, game changers and business modelling, to keep and develop the competitive edge and initiative.

In order to reduce costly downtime, adequate condition monitoring of the automatic transmission components in heavy duty construction equipment is necessary. The transmission in such equipment enables to change the gear ratio automatically. Further, the bearings in an automatic transmission provide low friction support to its rotating parts and act as an interface separating stationary from rotating components. Wear or other bearing faults may lead to an increase in energy consumption as well as failure of other related components in the automatic transmission, and thus costly downtime. In this study, different sensor data (particularly vibration) was collected on the automatic transmission during controlled test cycles in an automatic transmission test rig to enable adequate condition monitoring. An analysis of the measured vibration data was carried out using signal processing methods. The results indicate that predictive maintenance information related to the automatic transmission bearings may be extracted from vibrations measured on an automatic transmission. This information may be used for early fault detection, thus improving uptime and availability of heavy duty construction equipment.

Improving uptime is paramount in the heavy duty construction equipment business. Failure ofcritical components in the heavy duty machine may lead to unnecessary stops and expensive downtime. The torque converter, a complex omponent of the driveline, transmits and multiplies torque from the engine to the gearbox, and its failure may not only lead to the machine standing still but may also lead to damage of other parts of the automatic transmission. For adequate condition monitoring of the torque converter, different sensor data are measured on a construction equipment machine during controlled driving sessions. Vibration has been measured on the torque converter. An initial investigation of the vibration measured on the torque converter has been carried out to identify its vibration properties in order to enable its health monitoring to prevent failure. Initial signal analysis of the data have been carried out using Order Power Spectrum and Order Modulation Spectrum methods. With increasing complexities in the heavy duty construction equipment, early fault detection of certain components in the machine becomes more and more challenging due to too many fault code generated when a failure occurs. The axle is one of such component. The axle transfers driving torque from the transmission to the wheels and axle failure may result in costly downtime of construction equipment. To reduce service cost and to improve uptime, adequate condition monitoring based on sensor data from the axle is considered. Vibration is measured on the axle. Analysis of the data has been carried out using adequate signal processing methods. The results indicate that the vibration properties of the axle are relevant for early fault detection of the axle. In this way; the health of the axle may be continuously monitored on-board using the vibration information and if the axle health starts to degrade a service and/or repair may be scheduled well in advance of a potential axle failure and in that way the downtime of a machine may be reduced.
