2. Salivary microbiota composition before and after use of proton pump inhibitors in patients with laryngopharyngeal reflux: a self-control study

Abstract Background Issues associated with proton pump inhibitor (PPI) usage have been documented. PPIs affect the gastrointestinal microbiome, as well as the saliva microbiota of healthy individuals. However, the alterations in the saliva microbiota of laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) patients remain unclear. This study aims to examine the composition of saliva microbiota in LPR patients before and after PPI usage through a self-controlled study. Methods Thirty-two adult LPR patients participated in the study. Saliva samples were collected before and after an 8-week regimen of twice-daily administration of 20-mg esomeprazole. The impact of PPI administration on bacterial communities was assessed using 16 S rRNA gene sequencing. The functional and metabolic changes in saliva microbial communities after PPI usage were analyzed using PICRUSt2 based on our 16 S rRNA gene sequencing results. Results The alpha diversity within the salivary microbiota, as measured by the PD-whole-tree index, exhibited a significant difference between samples collected before and after PPI application (P = 0.038). 3. The Multi-Dimensional Impact of Different Sources of Information on Influenza Vaccination of College Students in China

- Abstract
Objective: To explore whether/how the willingness of Chinese college students to receive the influenza vaccines in the sample is affected by different information channels. Participants: Two hundred and four volunteers were recruited to participate in an anonymous online survey. All participants were college students, mainly undergraduates (81.86%), with a higher proportion of women (56.86%). Methods: Participants answered anonymous questionnaires through the website, including demographic data (age, gender, education, etc.), media exposure channels and frequency, views and attitudes toward influenza vaccines, etc. An ordered logistic regression analysis was conducted to explore the effects of different information sources on influenza vaccination among college students. Results: Exposure to traditional media, digital media, and interpersonal communication promotes college students' understanding of influenza vaccines. Exposure to digital media alleviates college students' hesitation to vaccinate, while interpersonal interaction and digital media exposure promote college students' willingness to vaccinate. Conclusions: Digital media is increasingly important in the lives of Chinese college students to promote healthy behaviors such as influenza vaccinations.

4. Potential cycling boosts the electrochemical conversion of polyethylene terephthalate-derived alcohol into valuable chemicals

Abstract The electrocatalytic valorization of polyethylene terephthalate-derived ethylene glycol to valuable glycolic acid offers considerable economic and environmental benefits. However, conventional methods face scalability issues due to rapid activity decay of noble metal electrocatalysts. We demonstrate that a dynamic potential cycling approach, which alternates the electrode potential between oxidizing and reducing values, significantly mitigates surface deactivation of noble metals during electrochemical oxidation of ethylene glycol. This method enhances catalyst activity by 20 times compared to a constant-potential approach, maintaining this performance for up to 60 h with minimal deactivation. In situ Raman and X-ray absorption spectroscopy show that this effectiveness results from efficient removal of surface oxide during the reaction. The strategy is applicable to polyethylene terephthalate hydrolysates and various noble metals, such as palladium, gold, and platinum, with palladium showing a high conversion rate in recent studies. Our approach offers an efficient and durable method for electrochemical upcycling of biomass-derived compounds.

Abstract In situ exploration of the dynamic structure evolution of catalysts plays a key role in revealing reaction mechanisms and designing efficient catalysts. In this work, PtCu/MgO catalysts, synthesized via the co-impregnation method, outperforms monometallic Pt/MgO and Cu/MgO. Utilizing quasi/in-situ characterization techniques, it is discovered that there is an obvious structural evolution over PtCu/MgO from Pt x Cu y O z oxide cluster to PtCu alloy with surface CuO x species under different redox and CO oxidation reaction conditions. The synergistic effect between PtCu alloy and CuO x species enables good CO oxidation activity through the regulation of CO adsorption and O2 dissociation. At low temperatures, CO oxidation is predominantly catalyzed by surface CuO x species via the Mars-van Krevelen mechanism, in which CuO x can provide abundant active oxygen species. As the reaction temperature increases, both surface CuO x species and PtCu alloy collaborate to activate gaseous oxygen, facilitating CO oxidation mainly through the Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism.

Purpose(1) To investigate the relationship between college students’ parent–child attachment, external expression of anger, and bullying behavior; (2) To explore the mediating role of external expression of anger between parent–child attachment and bullying behavior.MethodsThe Parent–Child Attachment Scale, State–Trait Anger Expression Inventory, and Bullying Participation Behavior Questionnaire were administered to 306 college students. Data collected were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 for common method bias tests, descriptive analysis, and correlation analysis. The mediation model was tested using the PROCESS macro program.ResultsParent–child attachment was significantly negatively correlated with external expression of anger and bullying behavior, while external expression of anger was positively correlated with bullying behavior. Additionally, the external expression of anger partially mediated the impact of parent–child attachment on bullying behavior.ConclusionThis study clarifies the relationship between parent–child attachment, external expression of anger, and bullying, emphasizing the indirect effect of parent–child attachment on individual bullying behavior through the external expression of anger. It provides data support for the further development of innovative methods to effectively reduce bullying behavior.

7. The effects of negative life events on college students’ problematic online gaming use: a chain-mediated model of boredom proneness regulation

The study investigated the impact of negative life events on college students’ problematic online gaming use, as well as the mediating role of basic psychological needs and anxiety, and the moderating effect of boredom proneness. A total of 1,102 college students were surveyed by using the Adolescent Negative Life Events Scale, Basic Psychological Needs Scale, GAD-7, DSM-5, and Boredom Proneness Scale. From the sample, 881 participants with experience in online gaming were selected for the study. The results showed that: (1) Controlling for gender and grade, negative life events significantly and positively predicted problematic online gaming use. (2) Basic psychological needs and anxiety played a mediating role in the relationship between negative life events and problematic online gaming use. (3) Boredom proneness significantly moderated the first half of the model. Basic psychological needs and anxiety mediate the relationship between negative life events and college students’ problematic online gaming use. Moreover, under conditions of low boredom proneness, the independent mediating effect of basic psychological needs and the mediating effect of basic psychological needs and anxiety are enhanced, while the independent mediating effect of anxiety is weakened.

Mycobacterium chelonae and Sporothrix globosa, both of which are opportunistic pathogens, have been proved to be possible multidrug resistant. However, are all recurring symptoms in chronic infections related to decreasing susceptibility? Here we report a case of sporotrichosis secondary to M. chelonae infection. In addition, we find that the blackish-red spots under the dermoscopic view can be employed as a signal for the early identification and regression of subcutaneous fungal infection.

9. Relationship between patient-perceived quality of primary care and self-reported hospital utilisation in China: A cross-sectional study

Background Reducing avoidable hospital admissions is a global healthcare priority, with optimal primary care recognised as pivotal for achieving this objective. However, in developing systems like China, where primary care is evolving without compulsory gatekeeping, the relationship between patient-perceived primary care quality and hospital utilisation remains underexplored.Objectives This study aimed to explore the association between patient-perceived primary care quality and self-reported hospital utilisation in China.Methods Data were collected from 16 primary care settings. Patient-perceived quality of primary care was measured using the Assessment Survey of Primary Care scale across six domains (first-contact care, continuity, comprehensiveness, accessibility, coordination, and patient-centredness). Hospital utilisation included patient self-reported outpatient visits, hospital admissions, and emergency department (ED) visits in the last six months. Logistic regression analyses were examined associations between self-reported hospital utilisation and perceived primary care quality adjusted for potential confounders.Results Of 1,185 patients recruited, 398 (33.6%) reported hospital utilisation. Logistic regression analyses showed that higher total scores for patient-perceived quality of primary care were associated with decreased odds of hospital utilisation (adjusted odds ratio(AOR): 0.417, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.308–0.565), outpatient visits (AOR: 0.394, 95% CI: 0.275–0.566) and hospital admissions (AOR: 0.496, 95% CI: 0.276–0.891). However, continuity of care was positively associated with ED visits (AOR: 2.252, 95% CI: 1.051–4.825).Conclusion Enhanced patient-perceived quality of primary care in China is associated with a reduction in self-reported overall hospital utilisation, including outpatient visits and hospital admissions. However, better continuity of care may be associated with increased ED visits. Further research is warranted for precise insights and validation of these findings.

The ecosystem of semi-arid watersheds is influenced by a combination of natural climate factors, rainfall, and habitat destruction, resulting in complex mechanisms of spatial differentiation and evolution of water ecological health. Indicator selection in mainstream water ecological health assessment methods, such as the Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI), often relies on subjective reference point choices. This approach tends to overlook the comprehensive impacts and interactions among various environmental stressors. For watersheds significantly influenced by natural climatic factors, considerable uncertainties arise, leading to a lack of scientific justification for establishing water ecological health protection goals. In this study, the nonlinear capabilities of the random forest (RF) model were applied to reduce subjectivity in traditional water ecological health assessments and to more accurately reveal the emerging spatial differentiation patterns and underlying causes of water ecological health in the Wei River Basin (WRB), the largest typical semi-arid watershed of the Yellow River in China. Our findings indicate: (1) Traditional evaluation indices indicate that the overall water ecological health of the WRB is classified as sub-healthy (60 %). The core indicators include dominant species, total algal density, and the percentage of diatom density, with no significant spatial differentiation observed. (2) An improved water ecological health assessment method for semi-arid watersheds, based on the RF model, has been developed to replace traditional subjective judgment steps. This method establishes a complex multi-input–output response relationship (R2>0.85) between environmental stress indicators and the biological integrity index for the WRB. (3) The model results identify key driving factors affecting changes in water ecological health in semi-arid watersheds, with the sensitivity of the new model increasing nearly 11-fold compared to traditional IBI methods. (4) Following improvements, the water ecological health characteristics of the WRB exhibit significant spatial heterogeneity, with a higher dispersion coefficient (1.21), and demonstrate enhanced nonlinear response trends to climatic factors. The application of machine learning models indicates that traditional methods may underestimate the extent of ecological health degradation in watersheds and tend to oversimplify spatial heterogeneity characteristics.

Abstract Background In cancer biology, circRAD18 promotes glucose metabolism, potentially indicating its involvement in glucose metabolism-related disorders, such as gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). The present study investigated the predictive role of circRAD18 in GDM and its potential adverse effects. Methods A total of 482 women who intended to get pregnant in short-term were enrolled. For those who successfully conceived, plasma samples were collected and followed up until delivery to monitor the occurrence of GDM and its associated adverse events. The accumulation of circRAD18 in plasma was analyzed using RT-qPCR. GDM-free curves and ROC curves were plotted to assess the predictive value of plasma circRAD18 for GDM. Results After admitting 482 female patients, 388 of them achieved pregnancy within half a year. During the follow-up period, 52 cases were diagnosed with GDM. Compared to non-GDM group (n = 336), the GDM group (n = 52) had a lower accumulation level of circRAD18 on the day of pregnancy confirmation. In addition, low levels of circRAD18 accumulation on that day distinguished potential GDM patients from non-GDM cases. The 388 cases were divided into high and low circRAD18 level groups (n = 194). GDM-free curve analysis showed that patients in the low circRAD18 level group had a higher incidence of GDM compared to the high level group (43/194 vs. 9/194). A close association was found between low levels of plasma circRAD18 and hypertension, but not premature delivery, intrauterine death, malformation, intrauterine infection, miscarriage, macrosomia or intrauterine distress. Conclusion The reduction in the accumulation of plasma circRAD18 is predictive of GDM and hypertension in pregnant women.

12. Nanoparticles as an antidote for poisoned gold single-atom catalysts in sustainable propylene epoxidation

Abstract The development of sustainable and anti-poisoning single-atom catalysts (SACs) is essential for advancing their research from laboratory to industry. Here, we present a proof-of-concept study on the poisoning of Au SACs, and the antidote of Au nanoparticles (NPs), with trace addition shown to reinforce and sustain propylene epoxidation. Multiple characterizations, kinetics investigations, and multiscale simulations reveal that Au SACs display remarkable epoxidation activity at a low propylene coverage, but become poisoned at higher coverages. Interestingly, Au NPs can synergistically cooperate with Au SACs by providing distinct active sites required for H2/O2 and C3H6 activations, as well as hydroperoxyl radical to restore poisoned SACs. The difference in reaction order between C3H6 and H2 (nC3H6-nH2) is identified as the descriptor for establishing the volcano curves, which can be fine-tuned by the intimacy and composition of SACs and NPs to achieve a rate-matching scenario for the formation, transfer, and consumption of hydroperoxyl. Consequently, only trace addition of Au NPs antidote (0.3% ratio of SACs) stimulates significant improvements in propylene oxide formation rate, selectivity, and H2 efficiency compared to SACs alone, offering a 56-fold, 3-fold, and 22-fold increase, respectively, whose performances can be maintained for 150 h.

Abstract Solution‐processable perovskite‐based devices are potentially very interesting because of their relatively cheap fabrication cost but outstanding optoelectronic performance. However, the solution spin‐coating process involves complicated processes, including perovskite solution droplets, nucleation of perovskite, and formation of intermediate perovskite films, resulting in complicated crystallization pathways for perovskite films under annealing. Understanding and therefore controlling the fabrication process of perovskites is difficult. Recently, synchrotron radiation‐based in situ grazing‐incidence wide‐angle X‐ray scattering (GIWAXS) techniques, which possess the advantages of high collimation, high resolution, and high brightness, have enabled to bridge complicated perovskite structure information with device performance by revealing the real‐time crystallization pathways of perovskites during the spin‐coating process. Herein, the developments of synchrotron radiation‐based in situ GIWAXS are discussed in the study of the crystallization process of perovskites, especially revealing the important crystallization mechanisms of state‐of‐the‐art perovskite optoelectronic devices with high performance. At the end, several potential applications and challenges associated with in situ GIWAXS techniques for perovskite‐based devices are highlighted.

Abstract RNA splicing is a dynamic molecular process in response to environmental stimuli and is strictly regulated by the spliceosome. Sm proteins, constituents of the spliceosome, are key components that mediate splicing reactions; however, their potential role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is poorly understood. In the study, SNRPD2 (PD2) is found to be the most highly upregulated Sm protein in HCC and to act as an oncogene. PD2 modulates DDX39A intron retention together with HNRNPL to sustain the DDX39A short variant (39A_S) expression. Mechanistically, 39A_S can mediate MYC mRNA nuclear export to maintain high MYC protein expression, while MYC in turn potentiates PD2 transcription. Importantly, digitoxin can directly interact with PD2 and has a notable cancer‐suppressive effect on HCC. The study reveals a novel mechanism by which DDX39A senses oncogenic MYC signaling and undergoes splicing via PD2 to form a positive feedback loop in HCC, which can be targeted by digitoxin.

Hysteresis non-linearity in variable stiffness actuators (VSAs) causes significant torque errors and reduces the stability of the actuators, leading to poor human–computer interaction performance. At present, fewer hysteresis compensation models have been developed for compliant drives, so it is necessary to establish a suitable hysteresis model for compliant actuators. In this work, a new model with a combination of the Maxwell-slip model and virtual deformation is proposed and applied to an elbow compliant actuator. The method divides the periodic variation of the actuator into three parts: an ascending phase, a descending phase, and a transition phase. Based on the concept of virtual deformation, the nonlinear hysteresis curve is transformed into a polyline, and the output torque is estimated using the revised Maxwell-slip model. The simulation results are compared with the experimental data. Its torque error is controlled within 0.2Nm, which validates the model. An inverse model is finally established to calculate the deformation deflection angle for hysteresis compensation. The results show that the inverse model has high accuracy, and the deformation deflection is less than 0.15 rad.

16. Development and validation of a risk prognostic model based on the H. pylori infection phenotype for stomach adenocarcinoma

Background: Stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD) is one of the most common malignancies. Infection of helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a major risk factor that leads to the development of STAD. This study constructed a risk model based on the H. pylori-related macrophages for predicting STAD prognosis. Methods: The single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) dataset and the clinic information and RNA-seq datasets of STAD patients were collected for establishing a prognostic model and for validation. The “Seurat” and “harmony” packages were used to process the scRNA-seq data. Key gene modules were sectioned using the “limma” package and the “WGCNA” package. Kaplan-Meier (KM) and Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve (ROC) analyses were performed with “survminer” package. The “GSVA” package was employed for single sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA). Cell migration and invasion were measured by carrying out wound healing and trans-well assays. Results: A total of 17397 were screened and classified into 8 cell type clusters, among which the macrophage cluster was closely associated with the H. pylori infection. Macrophages were further categorized into four subtypes (including C1, C2, C3, and C4), and highly variable genes of macrophage subtype C4 could serve as an indicator of the prognosis of STAD. Subsequently, we developed a RiskScore model based on six H. pylori -associated genes (TNFRSF1B, CTLA4, ABCA1, IKBIP, AKAP5, and NPC2) and observed that the high-risk patients exhibited poor prognosis, higher suppressive immune infiltration, and were closely associated with cancer activation-related pathways. Furthermore, a nomogram combining the RiskScore was developed to accurately predict the survival of STAD patients. ABCA1 in the RiskScore model significantly affected the migration and invasion of tumor cells. Conclusion: The gene expression profile served as an indicator of the survival for patients with STAD and addressed the clinical significance of using H. pylori-associated genes to treat STAD. The current findings provided novel understandings for the clinical evaluation and management of STAD.

BackgroundKlebsiella pneumoniae is a major cause of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), primarily spread through environmental contamination in hospitals. The effectiveness of current chemical disinfectants is waning due to emerging resistance, which poses environmental hazards and fosters new resistance in pathogens. Developing environmentally friendly and effective disinfectants against multidrug-resistant organisms is increasingly important.MethodsThis study developed a bacteriophage cocktail targeting two common carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) strains, ST11 KL47 and ST11 KL64. The cocktail was used as an adjunctive disinfectant in a hospital’s respiratory intensive care unit (RICU) via ultrasonic nebulization. Digital PCR was used to quantify CRKP levels post-intervention. The microbial community composition was analyzed via 16S rRNA sequencing to assess the intervention’s impact on overall diversity.ResultsThe phage cocktail significantly reduced CRKP levels within the first 24 hours post-treatment. While a slight increase in pathogen levels was observed after 24 hours, they remained significantly lower than those treated with conventional disinfectants. 16S rRNA sequencing showed a decrease in the target pathogens’ relative abundance, while overall species diversity remained stable, confirming that phages selectively target CRKP without disrupting ecological balance.DiscussionThe findings highlight the efficacy and safety of phage-based biocleaners as a sustainable alternative to conventional disinfectants. Phages selectively reduce multidrug-resistant pathogens while preserving microbial diversity, making them a promising tool for infection control.

Bladder cancer is one of the leading causes of mortality globally. The development of bladder cancer is closely associated with alternative splicing, which regulates human gene expression and enhances the diversity of functional proteins. Alternative splicing is a distinctive feature of bladder cancer, and as such, it may hold promise as a therapeutic target. This review aims to comprehensively discuss the current knowledge of alternative splicing in the context of bladder cancer. We review the process of alternative splicing and its regulation in bladder cancer. Moreover, we emphasize the significance of abnormal alternative splicing and splicing factor irregularities during bladder cancer progression. Finally, we explore the impact of alternative splicing on bladder cancer drug resistance and the potential of alternative splicing as a therapeutic target.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of negative urgency on implicit mobile phone addiction tendency among college freshmen, and to observe whether social exclusion situations affect the relationship between negative urgency and implicit mobile phone addiction tendency.MethodsThe UPPS-P Impulsive Behavior Scale was used to screen 575 freshmen from a certain university. The experiment utilized a GO/NO-GO paradigm. Experiment 1 employed a 2 (negative urgency group: high negative urgency group, low negative urgency group) × 2 (word type: phone related words, phone non-related words) two-factor mixed experimental design. Experiment 2 employed a 2 (negative urgency group: high negative urgency group, low negative urgency group) × 2 (social exclusion type: priming group, non-priming group) × 2 (word type: phone related words, phone non-related words) three-factor mixed experimental design.ResultsExperiment 1 results showed a significant main effect of negative urgency group and a significant interaction effect between negative urgency group and word type. Experiment 2 results demonstrated a significant main effect of negative urgency group and a significant main effect of social exclusion type. There was a significant interaction effect between word type and social exclusion type, as well as between word type and negative urgency group. The three-way interaction effect among negative urgency group, word type, and social exclusion type was significant.ConclusionCollege freshmen with high negative urgency exhibit a higher tendency toward implicit mobile phone addiction. In social exclusion situations, college freshmen show a higher tendency toward implicit smartphone addiction. Social exclusion situations and negative urgency jointly influence the implicit mobile phone addiction tendency of college freshmen.

Objective: To explore the mechanism of the Peiyuan Jieyu formula in treating depression by assessing its impact on a lipopolysaccharide-induced (LPS-induced) depression mouse model. Methods: We created a mouse model of depression by exposing mice that had previously received chronic stress to intraperitoneal LPS injections. The mice were divided into the following groups: control, model, fluoxetine, Tiansi Yin, Sini powder, and low-, medium-, and high-dose Peiyuan Jieyu formula groups. Forced swim and tail suspension tests were used to assess the efficacy of the depression (despair) model, and weight gain rates were also measured. Furthermore, serum levels of various depression and inflammation-associated molecules, including tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interferon-γ (IFN-γ), tryptophan, 5-hydroxytryptamine, kynurenine (KYN), and kynurenic acid (KA) were assessed. Furthermore, the expression levels of ionic calcium-binding adaptor molecule-1 (IBA-1) and indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) mRNA in hippocampal microglia were measured. Results: The model group displayed greater despair-associated immobility, which was shortened in response to various doses of Peiyuan Jieyu formula. Furthermore, formula administration significantly reduced serum TNF-α levels and hippocampal IDO mRNA expression. The high formula dose also reduced IFN-γ and IBA-1 levels, the latter was also decreased in response to the medium formula dose. However, the low formula dose reduced serum KYN level and KYN/tryptophan (TRP) and KYN/KA ratios. Conclusion: The Peiyuan Jieyu formula holds immense potential in treating depression in a mouse model, potentially inhibiting inflammation and improving TRP-KYN metabolic disorders.

Extensive studies have been conducted on the impact of foreign language reading anxiety on reading, primarily focusing on pedagogy and behavior but lacking electrophysiological evidence. The current study aimed to investigate the influence of foreign language reading anxiety on reading and its underlying mechanisms. The results revealed a negative correlation between foreign language reading anxiety and foreign language reading performance, irrespective of the native language. Adults with low levels of foreign language reading anxiety (LFLRA) demonstrated a significant difference in early lexical component N170 amplitude between foreign and native languages. However, this effect was not observed in adults with high levels of foreign language reading anxiety (HFLRA). In terms of N170 latency, HFLRA showed a longer N170 for the foreign language compared to the native language. Furthermore, the N170 effects were predominantly localized over the left occipitotemporal electrodes. Regarding N400 latency, a significant difference was found in LFLRA individuals between foreign and native language processing, while HFLRA individuals did not exhibit this difference. These findings suggest that HFLRA individuals experience inefficient lexical processing (such as orthography or semantics) during reading in foreign language.

This study aims to develop a novel portable reversible thermochromic patch and evaluate its potential applications in temperature monitoring and indication. The film is based on the concept of electronic charge transfer thermochromic coatings, enabling accurate detection of high temperatures. Experimental results demonstrate that when the temperature of the monitored device’s circuit reaches 70 °C or above, the color of the film changes from deep blue to colorless, indicating potential overheating in the power grid. Using salt spray corrosion testing and cycle performance testing, we validate the film’s excellent corrosion resistance in harsh natural environments and its provision of reliable color indication. The film possesses portability and ease of attachment to various electrical devices and circuits requiring temperature sensing. By connecting the color information of the film to a computer system, we can achieve digital temperature monitoring, providing potential applications in future smart grid development.

Abstract Background Myocardial bridges are congenital coronary artery anomalies. There are still many controversies surrounding surgical treatment strategies for myocardial bridges combined with other heart disorders. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the surgical treatment strategies and outcomes in patients with these conditions. Methods Between March 2004 and October 2021, our institution witnessed 77 patients diagnosed with myocardial bridging who underwent surgical intervention. According to the myocardial bridge and combined heart disorder, four groups were identified: 1. isolated LAD supra-arterial myotomy group, 2. LAD CABG and(or not) myotomy group, 3. LAD supra-arterial myotomy and grafting of other branches group, and 4. LAD supra-arterial myotomy and other cardiac surgery group. The perioperative outcomes, symptoms, life quality, mortality, and major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) were analyzed. Results There were no deaths during hospitalization and no rethoractomy for postoperative bleeding or major adverse cardiac events (MACEs). The follow-up period ranged from 2 months to 199.2 months (55.61 ± 10.21) months, the 10-year cumulative survival rates for the four groups of patients were 95.0%, 100%, 100% and 74.1%, and the 10-year freedom rates from the MACEs were 83.9%, 92.0%, 87.5% and 76.2%, respectively. Conclusions Supra-arterial myotomy is preferred in patients with isolated myocardial bridge, and acceptable results can be achieved by choosing supra-arterial myotomy in combination with CABG or other cardiac surgery simultaneously for patients with myocardial bridges and other heart disorders.

Abstract The quest for efficient non-Pt/Pd catalysts has proved to be a formidable challenge for auto-exhaust purification. Herein, we present an approach to construct a robust catalyst by embedding single-atom Ru sites onto the surface of CeO2 through a gas bubbling-assisted membrane deposition method. The formed single-atom Ru sites, which occupy surface lattice sites of CeO2, can improve activation efficiency for NO and O2. Remarkably, the Ru1/CeO2 catalyst exhibits exceptional catalytic performance and stability during auto-exhaust carbon particle oxidation (soot), rivaling commercial Pt-based catalysts. The turnover frequency (0.218 h−1) is a nine-fold increase relative to the Ru nanoparticle catalyst. We further show that the strong interfacial charge transfer within the atomically dispersed Ru active site greatly enhances the rate-determining step of NO oxidation, resulting in a substantial reduction of the apparent activation energy during soot oxidation. The single-atom Ru catalyst represents a step toward reducing dependence on Pt/Pd-based catalysts.

This study conducts qualitative research on late adolescent digital music users aged 17–19 to explore their emotional resonance and identities in digital music consumption. The findings indicate that late adolescents are highly dependent on music, with it playing a significant role in their lives, particularly in meeting emotional needs and shaping identities. Late-adolescent digital music users seek to assert themselves through unique and unconventional music tastes. The study also uncovers the coexistence of personalization and socialization in their music-listening behaviors, dividing them into “music-experienced” and “music-socialized” groups. Regarding emotional motivation, the music-experienced group listens to music for personal empathy, while the music-socialized group seeks interpersonal emotional resonance through music-based social interaction. From a practical perspective, this study suggests that the digital music industry should focus on the emotional value generated by music and balance users’ personalization and socialization needs.

32. Effect of Heat Pretreatment on Freeze Drying of Tilapia Meat

In order to improve the drying rate and rehydration of tilapia meat, the freeze-drying characteristics and quality changes of blanched or steamed fish meat were analyzed. The effect of heat pretreatment on the quality of freeze-dried fish meat was elucidated by considering the denaturation degree of myofibrillar protein, water distribution and microstructural changes in fish meat during the drying process. The results showed that heat pretreatment could effectively improve the drying rate of tilapia meat, shortening the drying time by nine hours compared with the control group; blanching was more effective than steaming. The rehydration temperature range for tilapia meat was expanded by heat pretreatment, and good rehydration was observed at 50–80 ℃. The rehydration temperature for the control samples was 80 ℃, and the rehydration rate of the 10 min heat treatment group was more than 60%, indicating that the dried product can be rapidly rehydrated. The hardness of the rehydrated fish meat was similar to that of cooked fresh fish meat, and it had good mouthfeel. Heat pretreatment caused significant denaturation of myofibrillar protein and consequently changes in water distribution and a conspicuous increase in the peak area of transverse relaxation time T23, indicating that the increase in free water content after heat treatment is an important reason for the increase in freeze-drying rate. The experimental results can provide technical support for the development of ready-to-eat dried fish products that are suitable for rehydration.

PURPOSEThis study aimed to compare the variability of the uterus during the menses phase (MP), follicular phase (FP), and luteal phase (LP) of the menstrual cycle using intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion-weighted imaging (IVIM-DWI).METHODSThis prospective study was conducted at the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine between January 2022 and January 2023. Women of childbearing age (18–45 years) with appropriate progesterone levels were included in this study. Conventional magnetic resonance imaging and IVIM-DWI scans were performed during the MP, FP, and LP. The differences in IVIM-DWI-derived parameters between these phases were then compared, and the overlap was quantitatively described.RESULTSThe apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and pure molecular diffusion coefficient (D) values from the endometrium, uterine junctional zone (UJZ), and myometrium indicated statistical differences between the MP and FP and the MP and LP (ADC: endometrium, both P < 0.001; UJZ, P = 0.008 and P < 0.001, respectively; myometrium, P = 0.033 and P = 0.006, respectively; D: endometrium, both P < 0.001; UJZ, P = 0.008 and P = 0.006, respectively; myometrium, P = 0.041 and P = 0.045, respectively). The perfusion-related diffusion coefficient (D*) values from the myometrium indicated statistical differences between the FP and MP and the FP and LP (D*: myometrium, P = 0.049 and P = 0.009, respectively). The overlapping endometrium ratios between the MP and FP or LP were lower than 50% in the ADC and D values (ADC: overlapping of MP and FP: 33.33%, overlapping of MP and LP: 23.33%; D: overlapping of MP and FP: 40.00%, overlapping of MP and LP: 43.33%).CONCLUSIONThe ADC and IVIM-derived parameters indicated differences in the uterus in diverse phases of the menstrual cycle, especially in the endometrium in relation to ADC and D values.

Propionic acidemia (PA) is rare autosomal recessive metabolic disorder caused by defects in the mitochondrially localized enzyme propionyl-coenzyme A (CoA) carboxylase. Patients with PA can suffer from lethal metabolic decompensation and cardiomyopathy despite current medical management, which has led to the pursuit of gene therapy as a new treatment option for patients. Here we assess the therapeutic efficacy of a recently described adeno-associated virus (AAV) capsid, AAV44.9, to deliver a therapeutic PCCA transgene in a new mouse model of propionyl-CoA carboxylase α (PCCA) deficiency generated by genome editing. Pcca−/− mice recapitulate the severe neonatal presentation of PA and manifest uniform neonatal lethality, absent PCCA expression, and increased 2-methylcitrate. A single injection of the AAV44.9 PCCA vector in the immediate newborn period, systemically delivered at a dose of 1e11 vector genome (vg)/pup but not 1e10 vg/pup, increased survival, reduced plasma methylcitrate, and resulted in high levels of transgene expression in the liver and heart in treated Pcca−/− mice. Our studies not only establish a versatile and accurate new mouse model of PA but further demonstrate that the AAV44.9 vectors may be suitable for treatment of many metabolic disorders where hepato-cardiac transduction following systemic delivery is desired, such as PA, and, by extension, fatty acid oxidation defects and glycogen storage disorders.

Abstract Oxidation of renewable polyol/sugar into formic acid using molecular O2 over heterogeneous catalysts is still challenging due to the insufficient activation of both O2 and organic substrates on coordination-saturated metal oxides. In this study, we develop a defective MnO2 catalyst through a coordination number reduction strategy to enhance the aerobic oxidation of various polyols/sugars to formic acid. Compared to common MnO2, the tri-coordinated Mn in the defective MnO2 catalyst displays the electronic reconstruction of surface oxygen charge state and rich surface oxygen vacancies. These oxygen vacancies create more Mnδ+ Lewis acid site together with nearby oxygen as Lewis base sites. This combined structure behaves much like Frustrated Lewis pairs, serving to facilitate the activation of O2, as well as C–C and C–H bonds. As a result, the defective MnO2 catalyst shows high catalytic activity (turnover frequency: 113.5 h−1) and formic acid yield (>80%) comparable to noble metal catalysts for glycerol oxidation. The catalytic system is further extended to the oxidation of other polyols/sugars to formic acid with excellent catalytic performance.

Herein, two novel alternating chiral‐achiral cations intercalation‐type chiral hybrid perovskites (CHPs), named (R/S‐1‐phenylpropylamine)(propylamine)PbBr4 (1‐R/S), exhibit above room‐temperature (RT) polar‐phase transition, which greatly regulates the gIph value. The gIph of 1‐R is 0.04 in high‐temperature phase chiral non‐polar (P212121) by applying 5 V bias, interestingly, with the temperature decrease, the gIph value in low‐temperature phase chiral polar (P21) gradually increases (0.22@360K, 0.40@340K, 0.47@320K), and finally reaches a maximum of 0.5 at RT. Such value is not only the highest among 2D CHPs to date, but presents a 12.5‐fold amplification compared with 0.04. Further, this rare phenomenon should be attributed to the built‐in electric field induced by the polar photovoltaic effect, which sheds light on further obtaining CHPs with large gIph.

The objective of the present study was to evaluate structure–activity relationships of four sanshools on antioxidant activities. In vitro, hydroxy-α-sanshool (HAS), hydroxy-β-sanshool (HBS), and hydroxy-γ-sanshool (HRS) had stronger antioxidant capacities than hydroxy-γ-sanshool (RS), attributed to the hydroxyl group. Furthermore, HRS had the greatest oxygen radical absorbance capacities (ORAC) and free radical scavenging (DPPH and ABTS) capacities, attributed to more cis-double bonds. Sanshools could effectively decrease the level of oxidative stress in colonic tissue and HCT-116 cells, including increased enzyme activities of catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and decreased concentrations of malondialdehyde (MDA). After intragastric administration of sanshool, HRS increased the the level of hepatic Total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) and colon GSH-Px and SOD. Moreover, sanshools significantly increased Nrf2, HO-1 proteins and decreased Keap1 protein. The protective effect of HRS was much higher than HAS, HBS, and RS, apparently due to its amide and hydroxyl groups. The binding energies of Nrf2 with HAS, HBS, HRS, and RS were −5.17, −5.11, −5.75, and −4.16 kcal/mol, respectively. HRS is more easily combine with Nrf2. In summary, sanshools acted as substitutes for natural antioxidants, in which HRS has the greatest antioxidant activity. This study provided a basis for future research on relationships between structure and activity.

A rapid mechanical ball milling method at room temperature has been proposed for Mn2+ doping. The mechanical force generated by the ball milling process was able to hammer Mn atom into the Bi3O4Br lattice in an efficient and stable manner. Doping with Mn2+ produces a doping level in the forbidden band. Also, Mn2+ promptly scavenged the photogenerated holes, reducing the recombination of photogenerated carriers and promoting the production of numerous active species. As a result, Mn2+ doped Bi3O4Br exhibited enhanced photodegradation performance towards antibiotic tetracycline, in which the optimal efficiency arrives 81.74%, 1.22 times higher than Bi3O4Br.

Abstract Background The teaching of critical care medicine is a very important task, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The understanding of critical care parameters is the foundation and core, which is conducive to the formation of clinical thinking. This study is to evaluate the training effect of teaching of critical care parameters based on an online platform, and explore the teaching methods of critical care medicine that can help to cultivate trainees’ clinical thinking and practical ability. Methods Questionnaires were released before and after the training through the official new media platform “Yisheng” application (APP) of China Medical Tribune involving 1109 participants. The trainees who filled in the questionnaire in APP and received training were randomly selected as the investigated population. Statistical description and analysis were carried out using SPSS 20.0 and Excel 2020. Results The trainees were mainly attending physicians in tertiary hospitals and above. Among all critical care parameters, trainees paid more attention to critical hemodynamics, respiratory mechanics, severity of illness scoring systems, critical ultrasound, and critical hemofiltration. The degree of satisfaction with the courses was high, especially the course of critical hemodynamics was scored the highest. The trainees believed that the course contents were of great help to clinical work. However, no significant difference was found in the trainees’ understanding or cognition of the connotation of the parameters before and after the training. Conclusion Teaching of critical care parameters based on an online platform is conducive to improving and consolidating the clinical care ability of trainees. However, it is still necessary to strengthen the cultivation of clinical thinking in critical care. In the future, the integration of theory with practice must be strengthened in clinical practice, ultimately achieving the homogeneous diagnosis and treatment of patients with critical illness.

Background Early intervention of blood glucose control in patients with new-onset type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) can help delay the progression of diabetes. As a new form of health management, the effect of human-computer interaction intelligent blood glucose monitoring management on the progression of new-onset T2DM patients has not been clarified. Objective To explore the effect of human-computer interaction intelligent management on blood glucose control and self management capability in new-onset T2DM patients, so as to provide the reference for optimizing the control strategy in new-onset T2DM patients. Methods From June 2016 to December 2016, 200 patients with new-onset T2DM admitted to the Tianjin Medical University, Chu Hsien-I Memorial Hospital were selected by convenient sampling and randomly divided into the control group (n=100) and the monitoring group (n=100). The interventions in the monitoring group were the same as those in the control group except for the human-computer interaction intelligent monitoring. Blood glucose indexes〔fasting blood glucose (FBG), 2 h postprandial glucose (2 hPG) and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) 〕and self-management capability indexes〔diabetes management self-efficacy scale (DMSES), summary of diabetes self-care activities (SDSCA), diabetes self-care scale (2-DSCS) 〕were recorded at the time of enrollment and after 3 months of follow-up in the two groups. Background The number of elderly diabetic patients is increasing rapidly with the aggravation of population aging. The coexistence of multiple conditions and polypharmacy are common in elderly diabetic patients. Strengthening clinically rational drug use can effectively reduce the incidence of adverse drug events and improve outcomes in these patients. Objective To understand the characteristics and patterns of polypharmacy including hypoglycemic, antihypertensive, lipid-lowering, antiplatelet agents in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes, so as to provide a reference for promoting rational medication use. Methods This study retrospectively selected 240 elderly inpatients with type 2 diabetes who were hospitalized in Department of Endocrinology, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2022 by cluster sampling method in April 2022. The drugs used during hospitalization and post-discharge medication regimens were investigated. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the treatment regimens of hypoglycemic, antihypertensive, lipid-regulating and antiplatelet. Results On average, the participants had (13.93±3.12) diagnoses at discharge, (16.48±5.41) kinds of medications during hospitalization, and (8.21±2.46) kinds of long-term medications after discharge. The rate of polypharmacy after discharge reached 89.2% (214/240). After discharge, 216 cases (90.0%) received hypoglycemic treatment, among whom 44.9% (97/216) used single drug therapy, and 58.3% (126/216) were treated with insulin. One hundred and eighty-three cases (76.2%) were treated with antihypertensive therapy, including 44.3% (81/183) with single drug therapy and 79.2% (145/183) with calcium channel blockers. One hundred and eighty-seven cases (77.9%) received lipid-regulation therapy, and 83.4% (156/187) of them received atorvastatin. One hundred and seventeen cases (48.7%) used antiplatelet drugs, among whom 77.8% (91/117) used aspirin. Eighty-four cases (35.0%) received hypoglycemic, antihypertensive, lipid-regulating and antiplatelet therapies. Conclusion Polypharmacy is common in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes, including hypoglycemic, antihypertensive, lipid-regulating, antiplatelet and other therapies, which indicates that they have received pre-treatment relatively comprehensive condition evaluation by medical workers. Although the rate of comprehensive management is high in this group, there are still some potential risks of adverse drug events due to irrational use of some drugs alone or in combination.

In this study, a novel magnetic molecularly imprinted polymeric material (Fe3O4@MOF@MIP-160) with a metal-organic backbone (Fe3O4@MOF) carrier was prepared using dibutyl phthalate (DBP) as a template. The material can be used for the efficient, rapid, and selective extraction of trace amounts of phthalic acid esters (PAEs) in food and can detect them via gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The synthesis conditions of the materials were optimized to prepare the Fe3O4@MOF@MIP160 with the highest adsorption performance. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectra (FT-IR), Vibration Sample Magnetic (VSM), and the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) method were used to characterize the materials. Compared with Fe3O4@MOF and the magnetic non-imprinted polymeric material (Fe3O4@MOF@NIP), Fe3O4@MOF@MIP-160 possesses the advantages of easy and rapid manipulation of magnetic materials, the advantages of high specific surface area and the stability of metal–organic frameworks, and the advantages of high selectivity of molecularly imprinted polymers. Fe3O4@MOF@MIP-160 has good recognition and adsorption capacity for di-butyl phthalate (DBP) and diethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP): the adsorption capacity for DBP and DEHP is 260 mg·g−1 and 240.2 mg·g−1, and the adsorption rate is fast (reaching equilibrium in about 20 min). Additionally, Fe3O4@MOF@MIP160 could be recycled six times, making it cost-effective, easy to operate, and time-saving as compared to traditional solid-phase extraction materials. The phthalate ester content in drinking water, fruit juice, and white wine was analyzed, with recoveries ranging from 70.3% to 100.7%. This proved that Fe3O4@MOF@MIP160 was suitable for detecting and removing PAEs from food matrices.

AbstractObjective To explore a machine learning model for the early prediction of acute kidney injury (AKI) and to screen the related factors affecting new-onset AKI in the ICU.Methods A retrospective analysis was performed used the MIMIC-III data source. New onset of AKI defined based on the serum creatinine changed. We included 19 variables for AKI assessment using four machine learning models: support vector machines, logistic regression, and random forest. and XGBoost, using accuracy, specificity, precision, recall, F1 score, and AUROC (area under the ROC curve) to evaluate model performance. The four models predicted new-onset AKI 3–6–9–12 h ahead. The SHapley Additive exPlanation (SHAP) value is used to evaluate the feature importance of the model.Results We finally respectively extracted 1130 AKI patients and non-AKI patients from the MIMIC-III database. With the extension of the early warning time, the prediction performance of each model showed a downward trend, but the relative performance was consistent. The prediction performance comparison of the four models showed that the XGBoost model performed the best in all evaluation indicators in all the time point at new-onset AKI 3–6–9–12 h ahead (accuracy 0.809 vs 0.78 vs 0.744 vs 0.741, specificity 0.856 vs 0.826 vs 0.797 vs 0.787, precision 0.842 vs 0.81 vs 0.775 vs 0.766, recall 0.759 vs 0.734 vs 0.692 vs 0.694, Fl score 0.799 vs 0.769 vs 0.731 vs 0.729, AUROC 0.892 vs 0.857 vs 0.827 vs 0.818). In the prediction of AKI 6, 9 and 12 h ahead, the importance of creatinine, platelets, and height was the most important based on SHapley.Conclusions The machine learning model described in this study can predict AKI 3–6–9–12 h before the new-onset of AKI in ICU. In particular, platelet plays an important role.Key messageThe new-onset of AKI in ICU is a common and important problem, which early be identified the risk of AKI can improve patients’ outcomes.We explored MIMIC-III and determined the exact time point of occurrence of AKI as the basis for the new-onset of AKI in ICU.XGBoost model performed the best prediction in all the time point at new-onset AKI 3–6–9–12 h ahead.For patients with the new-onset of AKI in ICU, platelets become an important factor associated with AKI.

47. Study on Salt Reduction of Yeast Extract and Its Application in Broth Powder

In this paper, several yeast extracts (YE) were taken as the main material to explore their function in salt reduction and effect in reducing salt in stock flavoring powder. Firstly, through physical and chemical index detection of different YE and comparative sensory analysis of saltiness intensity, the optimal effect of salt reduction YE was determined; then the molecular weight distribution of the peptide was detected, and different peptides were applied in the compound salt reduction model solution to explore the mechanism of salt reduction; finally, the effect of salt reducing was verified in the stock flavoring powder. According to the results, it showed that there were differences in salt reduction effect and flavor modification effect of different yeast extracts on low sodium salt, among which strong YE-2 had a better effect of reducing 20% salt in model experiment than other test YE. The components of 1000~2000 Da peptide in dense YE-2 had a significant sense of denseness and effect in saltiness enhancement. The application of strong YE-2 in the seasoning of stock powder could help reduce salt, improve umami taste and strong taste, and enhance the sense of overall coordination. YE products with stronger salt-reducing effect can be developed by increasing the content of 1000~2000 Da peptides in YE-2 products.

48. Weak X‐Ray to Visible Lights Detection Enabled by a 2D Multilayered Lead Iodide Perovskite with Iodine‐Substituted Spacer

Abstract Broadband photodetectors (PDs) with low detection limits hold significant importance to next‐generation optoelectronic devices. However, simultaneously detecting broadband (i.e., X‐ray to visible regimes) and weak lights in a single semiconducting material remains highly challenging. Here, by alloying iodine‐substituted short‐chain cations into the 3D FAPbI3 (FA = formamidine), a new 2D bilayered lead iodide hybrid perovskite, (2IPA)2FAPb2I7 (1, 2IPA = 2‐iodopropylammonium), that enables addressing this challenge is reported. Such a 2D multilayered structure and lead iodide composition jointly endow 1 with a minimized dark current (6.04 pA), excellent electrical property, and narrow bandgap (2.03 eV), which further gives it great potential for detecting broadband weak lights. Consequently, its high‐quality single crystal PDs exhibit remarkable photoresponses to weak ultraviolet–visible lights (377–637 nm) at several tens of nW cm−2 with high responsivities (>102 mA W−1) and significant detectivities (>1012 Jones). Moreover, 1 has an excellent X‐ray detection performance with a high sensitivity of 438 µC Gy−1 cm−2 and an ultralow detection limit of 20 nGy s−1. These exceptional attributes make 1 a promising material for broadband weak lights detection, which also sheds light on future explorations of high‐performance PDs based on 2D hybrid perovskites.

49. Evaluating Water Management Efficiency in Regulating Cadmium and Arsenic Accumulation in Rice in Typical Japonica Paddy Soils at Varied pH Levels

There is growing concern regarding cadmium (Cd) exposure through rice consumption. Compared with alternate wetting and drying (AWD), continuous flooding (CF) is usually considered as an effective approach for reducing Cd enrichment in rice but increases the risk of pollution from arsenic (As). In this study, the field trial was conducted to investigate remediation effects of two water management (CF and AWD) techniques on Cd pollution in rice in typical japonica rice cultivation areas with varied soil pH levels. The results indicate that soil pH was a crucial factor in regulating CF-mediated Cd/As accumulation and migration in rice plants, and grains at all stages of rice growth. In acidic fields, compared with AWD, the use of CF reduced the accumulation of Cd in plants during the tillering stage; CF during the milk stage promotes the risk of contamination of Cd in rice grains and any form of As in plants and inhibits the content of any forms of As in grains. During the mature stage, CF reduced the levels of Cd in the plants and grains while promoting the accumulation of As(V) and total As(T-As) in plants and As(III) in grains. In alkaline fields, compared with AWD, CF during the tillering stage promoted the accumulation of various forms of As in plants. During the milk stage, CF increased and decreased the Cd content in plants and grains, respectively, and reduced the accumulation of T-As in plants and As(III) in grains; during the mature stage, CF promoted the accumulation of Cd in plants and grains, induced the accumulation of T-As plants, and inhibited the accumulation of any form of As in grains. From the perspective of food safety, the impact of CF conditions on the accumulation of Cd and As in rice from acidic fields exhibited a pattern of reduction in Cd and increase in As during the maturity period, as compared to that on the AWD. Conversely, CF increased the Cd risk while simultaneously reducing the As accumulation in rice grains to a safe level in alkaline fields. CF is not recommended as a remediation strategy for Cd pollution in rice in low Cd pollution areas, but it can be considered as a potential strategy for As pollution remediation in rice in alkaline fields with low Cd pollution.

SYAUP-491 is a novel alkyl sulfonamide. In this study, in vivo and in vitro tests were performed along with a proteomic analysis to determine the effects and underlying mechanisms of the antibacterial activity of SYAUP-491 against the causative agent of bacterial leaf blight in rice. The antibacterial test results suggested that SYAUP-491 exhibited significant activities against Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) in vitro and in vivo. The minimal EC50 values reached 6.96 μg/mL and the curative activity reached 74.1%. Detailed studies demonstrated that SYAUP-491 altered membrane permeability and caused morphological changes. Based on proteomics results, SYAUP-491 might inhibit bacterial protein synthesis. SYAUP-491 may disrupt and alter cell membrane permeability and could further act on ribosomes in the bacterial body. Given the above results, SYAUP-491 could serve as a new lead compound in the research of antibacterial control of plant pathogenic bacterial disease.
