Agricultural production is highly dependent on weather conditions such as temperature, light, water and heat. The huge loss caused by extreme disaster weather makes the global insurance and reinsurance market overwhelmed, and seriously affects the enthusiasm of agricultural investment and the development of agricultural economy. With unique topography and vast territory, China is vulnerable to complex and diverse climate disasters. In recent years, the annual average economic loss caused by extreme weather disasters has reached about 200-300 billion yuan, among which floods caused by extreme heavy rainfall are the main agricultural disasters in China. In order to enhance the "farmer - insurance company - government" interest association to resist the risk of flood disaster caused by extreme heavy rainfall, financial hedging derivatives of weather disaster risk have gradually become a new hedging tool besides traditional insurance and reinsurance. This paper takes Shenyang, the main grain producing area in northeast China, as the sample of the study area, and uses the SARIMA model to obtain the distribution characteristics of seasonal rainfall time series. Different seasonal rainfall index option products (call option and put option contracts) are designed respectively, and the final option pricing is obtained by Monte Carlo stochastic simulation. The seasonal rainfall call option and put option contracts have opened up a new hedging model of agricultural extreme weather catastrophe outside the insurance and reinsurance market, which has enriched the varieties of weather financial derivatives market in China, reduced the severe impact of extreme weather disasters on agriculture, and enhanced the ability of agricultural stakeholders to resist the risk of extreme weather disasters.

Abstract Objective About 10% of patients after cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) would undergo acute liver injury, which aggravated the mortality of patients. Ac2-26 has been demonstrated to ameliorate organic injury by inhibiting inflammation. The present study aims to evaluate the effect and mechanism of Ac2-26 on acute liver injury after CPB. Methods A total of 32 SD rats were randomized into sham, CPB, Ac, and Ac/AKT1 groups. The rats only received anesthesia, and rats in other groups received CPB. The rats in Ac/AKT1 were pre-injected with the shRNA to interfere with the expression of AKT1. The rats in CPB were injected with saline, and rats in Ac and Ac/AKT1 groups were injected with Ac2-26. After 12 h of CPB, all the rats were sacrificed and the peripheral blood and liver samples were collected to analyze. The inflammatory factors in serum and liver were detected. The liver function was tested, and the pathological injury of liver tissue was evaluated. Results Compared with the sham group, the inflammatory factors, liver function, and pathological injury were worsened after CPB. Compared with the CPB group, the Ac2-26 significantly decreased the pro-inflammatory factors and increased the anti-inflammatory factor, improved liver function, and ameliorated the pathological injury. All the therapeutic effects of Ac2-26 were notably attenuated by the shRNA of AKT1. The Ac2-26 increased the GSK3β and eNOS, and this promotion was inhibited by the shRNA. Conclusion The Ac2-26 significantly treated the liver injury, inhibited inflammation, and improved liver function. The effect of Ac2-26 on liver injury induced by CPB was partly associated with the promotion of AKT1/GSK3β/eNOS.

Chronic non-healing wounds induced by oxidative stress and inflammation can activate inflammatory cells and produce large amounts of inflammatory mediators, which fail to maintain homeostasis in the skin and delay the wound-healing process. To tackle this issue, heparin-loaded hierarchical composite scaffolds comprised of electrospun fibers and electrosprayed microspheres were prepared to act as an effective anti-inflammatory wound dressing. Microspheres with different electrosprayed densities were deposited into the surface of the electrospun fibers for the improvement of surface topographical cues and cellular activities. The results indicated that the electrospun fibers followed by electrosprayed for 3 ​min to fabricate the composite fiber/microsphere scaffolds contributed to the best performance in terms of promoting cellular activities, with no obvious cytotoxicity, good adhesion morphology, and the fastest cell migration rate. In addition, a suitable amount of heparin was added to the composite scaffolds to alleviate inflammation. The significant adsorption efficiency of heparin-loaded composite scaffolds on inflammatory mediator MCP-1 indicates a favorable anti-inflammation effect in vitro. Furthermore, the heparin-loaded hierarchical scaffolds accelerated the pace of inflammatory wound healing in vivo when compared to commercial 3 ​M Tegaderm and non-heparin-loaded scaffolds. Our work provided a facile strategy for fabricating heparin-loaded hierarchical fiber/microsphere scaffolds to modulate cellular activities via topographical cues and accelerating the inflammatory wound healing process by electrostatic interactions between heparin and MCP-1. These findings suggested that the heparin-loaded hierarchical scaffold was expected to be a promising dressing for inflammatory wound healing.

Accurate forecasting of solar power output and load demand is critical for the efficient operation and management of isolated microgrids, where reliability and sustainability are paramount. Traditional methods often struggle with data scarcity, limitations in capturing intricate temporal dynamics, and lack of scalability. This research introduces a novel multi-task learning (MTL) model, the Self-Aware Quantized Multi-Task ConvLSTM (SAQ-MTCLSTM), which addresses these challenges by jointly forecasting solar power and load demand while leveraging shared representations across these interdependent time series. The SAQ-MTCLSTM incorporates a sophisticated architecture that combines convolutional and LSTM layers with self-aware quantization to enhance computational efficiency and model adaptability. This allows for effective knowledge transfer, improved data utilization, and the capture of intricate temporal patterns. Evaluated on a real-world isolated microgrid dataset from the Micro Reseau Mafate research project, the model demonstrates significant improvements in forecasting accuracy, with MSE values of 0.0021 for solar power output and 0.0037 for load demand forecasting, compared to single-task and other advanced models. Extensive experiments highlight the impact of data scarcity, seasonality patterns, and microgrid topology on forecasting performance. Such forecasting is essential to optimize the integration and utilization of renewable resources, enhancing operational stability and reducing dependency on external energy supplies.

Objective To investigate the signature genes of fatty acid metabolism and their association with immune cells in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Methods Fatty acid metabolism-related genes were obtained from the GeneCards database. In this retrospective study, a PAH-related dataset was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database and analyzed to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs). Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) and machine learning algorithms, including least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) and random forest, were used to identify the signature genes. Diagnostic efficiency was assessed by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis and a nomogram. Immune cell infiltration was subsequently classified using CIBERSORT. Results In total, 817 DEGs were screened from the GSE33463 dataset. The data were clustered into six modules via WGCNA, and the MEdarkred module was significantly related to PAH. The LASSO and random forest algorithms identified five signature genes: ARV1, KCNJ2, PEX11B, PITPNC1 , and SCO1 . The areas under the ROC curves of these signature genes were 0.917, 0.934, 0.947, 0.963, and 0.940, respectively. CIBERSORT suggested these signature genes may participate in immune cell infiltration. Conclusions ARV1, KCNJ2, PEX11B, PITPNC1 , and SCO1 show remarkable diagnostic performance in PAH and are involved in immune cell infiltration.

Abstract Background Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) results in brain injury, which is primarily caused by inflammation. Ac2-26 protects against ischemic or hemorrhage brain injury. The present study was to explore the effect and mechanism of Ac2-26 on brain injury in CPB rats. Methods Forty-eight rats were randomized into sham, CPB, Ac, Ac/AKT1, Ac/GSK3βi and Ac/AKT1/GSK3βa groups. Rats in sham group only received anesthesia and in the other groups received standard CPB surgery. Rats in the sham and CPB groups received saline, and rats in the Ac, Ac/AKT1, Ac/GSK3βi and Ac/AKT1/GSK3βa groups received Ac2-26 immediately after CPB. Rats in the Ac/AKT1, Ac/GSK3βi and Ac/AKT1/GSK3βa groups were injected with shRNA, inhibitor and agonist of GSK3β respectively. The neurological function score, brain edema and histological score were evaluated. The neuronal survival and hippocampal pyroptosis were assessed. The cytokines, activity of NF-κB, S100 calcium-binding protein β(S100β) and neuron-specific enolase (NSE), and oxidative were tested. The NLRP3, cleaved-caspase-1 and cleaved-gadermin D (GSDMD) in the brain were also detected. Results Compared to the sham group, all indicators were aggravated in rats that underwent CPB. Compared to the CPB group, Ac2-26 significantly improved neurological scores and brain edema and ameliorated pathological injury. Ac2-26 reduced the local and systemic inflammation, oxidative stress response and promoted neuronal survival. Ac2-26 reduced hippocampal pyroptosis and decreased pyroptotic proteins in brain tissue. The protection of Ac2-26 was notably lessened by shRNA and inhibitor of GSK3β. The agonist of GSK3β recovered the protection of Ac2-26 in presence of shRNA. Conclusions Ac2-26 significantly improved neurological function, reduced brain injury via regulating inflammation, oxidative stress response and pyroptosis after CPB. The protective effect of Ac2-26 primarily depended on AKT1/ GSK3β pathway.

Abstract Background Post-anesthetic emergence agitation is common after general anesthesia and may cause adverse consequences, such as injury as well as respiratory and circulatory complications. Emergence agitation after general anesthesia occurs more frequently in nasal surgery than in other surgical procedures. This study aimed to assess the occurrence of emergence agitation in patients undergoing nasal surgery who were extubated under deep anesthesia or when fully awake. Methods A total of 202 patients (18–60 years, American Society of Anesthesiologists classification: I–II) undergoing nasal surgery under general anesthesia were randomized 1:1 into two groups: a deep extubation group (group D) and an awake extubation group (group A). The primary outcome was the incidence of emergence agitation. The secondary outcomes included number of emergence agitations, sedation score, vital signs, and incidence of adverse events. Abstract Artificial electronic kagome lattices may emerge from electronic potential landscapes using customized structures with exotic supersymmetries, benefiting from the confinement of Shockley surface-state electrons on coinage metals, which offers a flexible approach to realizing intriguing quantum phases of matter that are highly desired but scarce in available kagome materials. Here, we devise a general strategy to construct varieties of electronic kagome lattices by utilizing the on-surface synthesis of halogen hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (XHOFs). As a proof of concept, we demonstrate three XHOFs on Ag(111) and Au(111) surfaces, which correspondingly deliver regular, breathing, and chiral breathing diatomic-kagome lattices with patterned potential landscapes, showing evident topological edge states at the interfaces. The combination of scanning tunnelling microscopy and noncontact atomic force microscopy, complemented by density functional theory and tight-binding calculations, directly substantiates our method as a reliable and effective way to achieve electronic kagome lattices for engineering quantum states.

In assisted reproduction techniques, oocytes encounter elevated levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) during in vitro maturation (IVM). Oxidative stress adversely affects oocyte quality, hampering their maturation, growth, and subsequent development. Thus, mitigating excessive ROS to safeguard less viable oocytes during IVM stands as a viable strategy. Numerous antioxidants have been explored for oocyte IVM, yielding considerable effects; however, several aspects, including solubility, stability, and safety, demand attention and resolution. In this study, we developed nanoparticles by self-assembling endogenous bilirubin and melatonin hormone coated with bilirubin-conjugated glycol chitosan (MB@GBn) to alleviate oxidative stress and enhance oocyte maturation. The optimized MB@GBn exhibited a uniform spherical shape, measuring 128 nm in particle size, with a PDI value of 0.1807 and a surface potential of +11.35 mV. The positively charged potential facilitated nanoparticle adherence to the oocyte surface through electrostatic interaction, allowing for functional action. In vitro studies demonstrated that MB@GB significantly enhanced the maturation of compromised oocytes. Further investigation revealed MB@GB's effectiveness in scavenging ROS, reducing intracellular calcium levels, and suppressing mitochondrial polarization. This study not only offers a novel perspective on nano drug delivery systems for biomedical applications but also presents an innovative strategy for enhancing oocyte IVM.

According to the infrared patch image (IPI) model theory, the infrared image background has a low rank and the target is sparse. The low-rank model can be used to separate the background and identify the target. However, in a noisy environment, the recognition effect will be affected. The higher the noise, the harder it would be to detect a small target. The residual strong fault and background edges could reduce the detection rate and increase false alarms. The traditional IPI model is adaptable to the background with the lower noise. This paper combines weighted nuclear norm minimization (WNNM) optimization with sparse representation based on the local IPI model. The background details are described more prominently by improving the nuclear norm weighting factor. The target is much easier to detect under the specific bright clouds and ground buildings background with high noise. At the same time, post-processing with image local contrast analysis is performed to compare traditional spatial filtering and local infrared patch image model algorithms. Our method has a good suppression effect on complex noise backgrounds and achieves a higher signal to clutter ratio gain (SCRG). It could also improve the target detection rate and reduce false alarms.

Amifostine (AMF) as the first-line radiation protection drug, usually suffered from low compliance and short half-life upon clinical applications. The development of oral drug delivery system (DDS) for AMF is a promising solution. However, the inherent shortages of AMF present significant challenges in the design of suitable oral DDS. Here in this study, we utilized the ability of calcium ions to bind with AMF and prepared AMF loaded calcium carbonate (CC) core, CC/AMF, using phase transferred coprecipitation method. We further modified the CC/AMF using phospholipids to prepare AMF loaded lipid-calcium carbonate (LCC) hybrid nanoparticles (LCC/AMF) via a thin-film dispersion method. LCC/AMF combines the oral advantages of lipid nanoparticles with the drug-loading capabilities of CC, which was shown as uniform nano-sized formulation with decent stability in aqueous solution. With favorable intestinal transport and absorption effects, it effectively enhances the in vivo radiation protection efficacy of AMF through oral administration. More importantly, we further investigated the cellular accumulation profile and intracellular transport mechanism of LCC/AMF using MDCK and Caco-2 cell lines as models. This research not only alters the current administration method of AMF to enhance its convenience and compliance, but also provides insights and guidance for the development of more suitable oral DDS for AMF in the future.

Abstract Introduction Pregnant women may need to undergo non‐obstetric surgery under general anesthesia owing to medical needs, and pregnant women frequently experience sleep disturbances during late gestation. Preclinical studies demonstrated that maternal isoflurane exposure (MISO) or maternal sleep deprivation (MSD) contributed to cognitive impairments in offspring. Research studies in mice have revealed that SD can aggravate isoflurane‐induced cognitive deficits. However, it remains unclear whether MSD aggravates MISO‐induced cognitive deficits in offspring. The purpose of this research was to explore the combined effects of MSD and MISO on offspring cognitive function and the role of neuroinflammation and synaptic function in the process of MSD + MISO. Methods Pregnant mice were exposed to 1.4% isoflurane by inhalation for 4 h on gestational day (GD) 14. Dams were then subjected to SD for 6 h (12:00–18:00 h) during GD15–21. At 3 months of age, the offspring mice were subjected to the Morris water maze test to assess cognitive function. Then the levels of inflammatory and anti‐inflammatory markers and synaptic function‐related proteins were assessed using molecular biology methods. Results The results of this study demonstrated that MISO led to cognitive dysfunction, an effect that was aggravated by MSD. In addition, MSD exacerbated the maternal isoflurane inhalation, leading to an enhancement in the expression levels of interleukin (IL)‐1β, IL‐6, and tumor necrosis factor‐alpha and a reduction in the hippocampal levels of IL‐10, synaptophysin, post‐synaptic density‐95, growth‐associated protein‐43, and brain‐derived neurotrophic factor. Conclusion Our findings revealed that MSD aggravated the cognitive deficits induced by MISO in male offspring mice, and these results were associated with neuroinflammation and alternations in synaptic function.

Abstract Objective To explore the functional connectivity (FC) characteristics of the episodic memory network (EMN) in amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) patients with different levels of executive function (EF). Methods This study included 76 participants from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative database, comprising 23 healthy controls (HCs) and 53 aMCI patients. Based on EF levels, aMCI patients were categorized into aMCI‐highEF and aMCI‐lowEF groups. Cognitive function scores, pathological markers (cerebrospinal fluid β‐amyloid, total tau protein, phosphorylated tau protein, AV45‐PET, and FDG‐PET), and functional magnetic resonance imaging were collected and compared among the three groups. Seed‐based FC analysis was used to examine differences in the EMN among the groups, and partial correlation analysis was employed to investigate the relationship between changes in FC and cognitive function scores as well as pathological markers. Results Compared to the aMCI‐highEF group, the aMCI‐lowEF group exhibited more severe cognitive impairment, decreased cerebral glucose metabolism, and elevated AV45 levels. Significant FC differences in the left superior temporal gyrus (STG) of the EMN were observed among the three groups. Post hoc analysis revealed that the aMCI‐lowEF group had increased FC in the left STG compared to the HCs and aMCI‐highEF groups, with statistically significant differences. Correlation analysis showed a significant negative correlation between the differences in FC in the left STG of aMCI‐highEF and aMCI‐lowEF groups and Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test forgetting scores. Receiver operator characteristic curve analysis indicated an area under the curve of 0.741 for distinguishing between aMCI‐highEF and aMCI‐lowEF groups based on FC of left STG, with a sensitivity of 0.808 and a specificity of 0.667. Conclusion aMCI‐lowEF exhibits characteristic changes in FC within the EMN, providing theoretical support for the role of EF in mediating EMN alterations and, consequently, impacting episodic memory function.

Abstract This meta‐analysis evaluated the potential association of a simultaneously measured inter‐arm systolic blood pressure difference (IASBPD) and all‐cause mortality and cardiovascular mortality. The Medline, Cochrane Library, Embase, and PubMed databases were searched through to April 14, 2023 for relevant literature. The outcomes were the associations of IASBPD with all‐cause and cardiovascular mortality. Finally, 10 cohort studies that included 15 320 individuals were included. An IASBPD of ≥15 mm Hg was associated with increased all‐cause mortality (pooled hazard ratio [HR] 1.28, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.02–1.61) but an IASBPD of ≥10 mm Hg was not (pooled HR 1.28, 95% CI 0.89–1.85). The pooled HR for cardiovascular mortality was 1.88 (95% CI 1.31–2.71) for an IASBPD of ≥10 mm Hg and 1.93 (95% CI 1.24–2.99) for an IASBPD of ≥15 mm Hg. Subgroup analysis showed that younger patients (HR 9.03, 95% CI 2.00–40.82, p = .004) with an IASBPD ≥15 mm Hg were at higher risk of cardiovascular mortality than older patients (HR 1.67, 95% CI 1.06–2.64, p = .03); the difference between groups was statistically significant (p = .04). In conclusions, our findings show that a simultaneously measured IASBPD ≥15 mm Hg predicts increased all‐cause mortality and an IASBPD of ≥15 mm Hg or ≥10 mm Hg predicts increased cardiovascular mortality. An IASBPD ≥15 mm Hg appears to be more correlated with cardiovascular mortality in younger patients than in older patients.

Spectral imaging technique has been widely applied in plant phenotype analysis to improve plant trait selection and genetic advantages. The latest developments and applications of various optical imaging techniques in plant phenotypes were reviewed, and their advantages and applicability were compared. X-ray computed tomography (X-ray CT) and light detection and ranging (LiDAR) are more suitable for the three-dimensional reconstruction of plant surfaces, tissues, and organs. Chlorophyll fluorescence imaging (ChlF) and thermal imaging (TI) can be used to measure the physiological phenotype characteristics of plants. Specific symptoms caused by nutrient deficiency can be detected by hyperspectral and multispectral imaging, LiDAR, and ChlF. Future plant phenotype research based on spectral imaging can be more closely integrated with plant physiological processes. It can more effectively support the research in related disciplines, such as metabolomics and genomics, and focus on micro-scale activities, such as oxygen transport and intercellular chlorophyll transmission.

Essential oils are potential alternatives to antibiotics for preventing Candida albicans (C. albicans) infection which is responsible for economic losses in the pigeon industry. Cymbopogon martini essential oil (EO) can inhibit pathogens, particularly fungal pathogens but its potential beneficial effects on C. albicans-infected pigeons remain unclear. Therefore, we investigated the impact of C. martini EO on antioxidant activity, immune response, intestinal barrier function, and intestinal microbiota in C. albicans-infected pigeons. The pigeons were divided into four groups as follows: (1) NC group: C. albicans uninfected/C. martini EO untreated group; (2) PC group: C. albicans infected/C. martini EO untreated group; (3) LPA group: C. albicans infected/1% C. martini EO treated group; and (4) HPA group: C. albicans infected/2% C. martini EO treated group. The pigeons were infected with C. albicans from day of age 35 to 41 and treated with C. martini EO from day of age 42 to 44, with samples collected on day of age 45 for analysis. The results demonstrated that C. martini EO prevented the reduction in the antioxidant enzymes SOD and GSH-Px causes by C. albicans challenge in pigeons. Furthermore, C. martini EO could decrease the relative expression of IL-1β, TGF-β, and IL-8 in the ileum, as well as IL-1β and IL-8 in the crop, while increasing the relative expression of Claudin-1 in the ileum and the crop and Occludin in the ileum in infected pigeons. Although the gut microbiota composition was not significantly affected by C. martini EO, 2% C. martini EO increased the abundance of Alistipes and Pedobacter. In conclusion, the application of 2% C. martini EO not only enhanced the level of antioxidant activity and the expression of genes related to intestinal barrier function but also inhibited inflammatory genes in C. albicans-infected pigeons and increased the abundance of gut bacteria that are resistant to C. albicans.

Background: The experiences, physical and mental health and needs of women with breast cancer have been studied in some detail, but there is a lack of discussion of the experiences of stakeholder groups such as men with breast cancer, partners and carers and healthcare professionals. The aim of this study was to explore and understand the experiences and perceptions of male breast cancer stakeholders from diagnosis through to survivorship. Methods: We conducted a thematic review of qualitative studies included in a large published scoping review on male breast cancer (reported under the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses for Scoping Reviews extension). To be included in a qualitative evidence review, studies had to use qualitative methods for data collection and analysis to capture the perspectives of men with breast cancer, partners or caregivers, and healthcare workers. Key characteristics and findings were extracted and a conceptual coding framework was summarized using thematic analysis. Results: Out of a total of 310 studies in the research literature (published research articles and gray literature), 15 studies met the inclusion criteria. These studies reported on the experiences of men with breast cancer, partners or caregivers, and healthcare workers, with participant numbers ranging from 2 to 31. A total of 17 descriptive themes (study outcomes) were identified. From these, four high-level analytic themes emerged: (1) Predicament; (2) Emotion; (3) Support; (4) Coping. Conclusions: The gender stigma that exists at the patient, healthcare system, and family-society levels largely influences the experiences of the male breast cancer stakeholder population. To address gender inequalities in breast cancer care, healthcare organizations and society at large should remain equally attentive to the needs of male and female breast cancer patients. These needs include reducing healthcare and social stigma, providing gender-specific information and emotional support, and access to support groups.

Introduction Breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) is a common postoperative complication of breast cancer. It develops in a chronic and vicious cycle. Once lymphedema occurs, it cannot be cured and bring serious physiological, psychological, social and economic burden to patients. Upper limb functional exercises are an effective and convenient intervention for managing lymphedema. However, the optimal exercise sequence remains unclear. Therefore, we aim to compare the effects of exercise sequences under the guidance of commonly used exercise sequences and lymphatic flow theory.Methods An exploratory randomised controlled cross-over trial will be conducted. 32 patients with BCRL are randomly allocated into two groups (group A and group B). Group A patients will perform functional exercise from wrist joint to shoulder joint, and the exercise direction of group B is opposite to that of group A, that is, from shoulder joint to wrist joint end. Exercise time is once a day, each 20–30 min, for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks of washout period, A and B groups of exchange exercise sequences (exercise frequency and duration unchanged). The primary outcome is upper limb circumference, and secondary outcomes are upper limb function and lymphedema symptoms.Ethics and dissemination This study protocol is presented in accordance with the Standard Protocol Items: Recommendations for Interventional Trials guidelines. All participants will sign a written informed consent. The research ethics regional committee of Shanghai Seventh People’s Hospital has approved the study. Regardless of the outcome of this study, the results will be published in open-access journals to ensure public access.Trial registration number ChiCTR2200066463.

IntroductionWe aim to predict the pathological complete response (pCR) of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in breast cancer patients by constructing a Nomogram based on radiomics models, clinicopathological features, and ultrasound features.MethodsUltrasound images of 464 breast cancer patients undergoing NAC were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were further divided into the training cohort and the validation cohort. The radiomics signatures (RS) before NAC treatment (RS1), after 2 cycles of NAC (RS2), and the different signatures between RS2 and RS1 (Delta-RS/RS1) were obtained. LASSO regression and random forest analysis were used for feature screening and model development, respectively. The independent predictors of pCR were screened from clinicopathological features, ultrasound features, and radiomics models by using univariate and multivariate analysis. The Nomogram model was constructed based on the optimal radiomics model and clinicopathological and ultrasound features. The predictive performance was evaluated with the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve.ResultsWe found that RS2 had better predictive performance for pCR. In the validation cohort, the area under the ROC curve was 0.817 (95%CI: 0.734-0.900), which was higher than RS1 and Delta-RS/RS1. The Nomogram based on clinicopathological features, ultrasound features, and RS2 could accurately predict the pCR value, and had the area under the ROC curve of 0.897 (95%CI: 0.866-0.929) in the validation cohort. The decision curve analysis showed that the Nomogram model had certain clinical practical value.DiscussionThe Nomogram based on radiomics signatures after two cycles of NAC, and clinicopathological and ultrasound features have good performance in predicting the NAC efficacy of breast cancer.

ObjectiveTo explore the associations of body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), and waist to height ratio (WHtR) with dyslipidemia among adult residents in Shaanxi province for developing relevant intervention strategies. Methods Using stratified multistage random cluster sampling, we recruited 6 202 urban and rural permanent residents aged 18 years and above in 10 regions covered by national surveillance on chronic diseases and risk factors in Shaanxi province. Face-to-face interview with the questionnaire for China Adult Chronic Disease and Nutrition Surveillance – 2018, physical examination, and laboratory detections were conducted among the participants during May – November, 2018. Partial correlation analysis and unconditional multivariate logistic regression were adopted in analyses on the correlations of BMI, WC, and WHtR with the risk of dyslipidemia. ResultsDyslipidemia were detected in 1 994 (33.04%) of the 6 036 participants completing the survey. Laboratory detections revealed following results: (1) the mean levels (mmol/L) of the participants with underweight or normal weight/overweight/obesity were 4.56 ± 0.89/4.75 ± 0.95/4.79 ± 0.90 for total cholesterol (TC), 1.42 ± 0.99/1.80 ± 1.24/2.14 ± 1.39 for triglyceride (TG); 2.61 ± 0.78/2.79 ± 0.82/2.79 ± 0.81 for low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and 1.45 ± 0.37/1.28 ± 0.32/1.17 ± 0.30 for high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C); (2) the mean levels (mmol/L) of the participants with normal WC/mild central obesity/severe central obesity were 4.52 ± 0.90/4.73 ± 0.89/4.83 ± 0.98 for TC, 1.36 ± 0.96/1.76 ± 1.05/2.08 ± 1.57 for TG, 2.59 ± 0.77/ 2.77 ± 0.79/2.82 ± 0.86 for LDL-C, and 1.46 ± 0.37/1.31 ± 0.33/1.21 ± 0.31 for HDL-C; and (3) the mean levels (mmol/L) of the participants with normal WHtR/obesity were 4.46 ± 0.88/4.76 ± 0.92 for TC, 1.32 ± 0.95/1.83 ± 1.24 for TG, 2.55 ± 0.76/2.78 ± 0.81 for LDL-C, and 1.46 ± 0.37/ 1.29 ± 0.34 for HDL-C, respectively. There were significant differences in levels of TC, TG, HDL-C, and HDL-C among the participants with different BMI, WC, and WHtR (all P < 0.001). Partial correlation analysis showed that BMI, WC, and WHtR were correlated positively with TC, TG and LDL-C but negatively with HDL-C (all P < 0.001). After adjusting for gender, age, education, annual household income per capita, place of residence, smoking, and alcohol drinking, the results of multivariate logistic regression analysis demonstrated that the participants with overweight and obesity were at significantly higher risk of dyslipidemia, with the odds ratio (OR) (95% confidence interval [95%CI]) of 1.58 (1.36 – 1.82) and 2.22 (1.79 – 2.74) compared to the participants with underweight/normal weight; the results also showed that the risk of dyslipidemia was significantly higher for the participants with mild central obesity (OR = 1.49, 95%CI: 1.23 – 1.81) and severe central obesity (OR = 2.25, 95%CI: 1.79 – 2.83) in comparison with the participants with normal body weight; the dyslipidemia risk was significantly higher (OR = 1.39, 95%CI: 1.13 – 1.70) for the participants with the WHtR indicating obesity contrasting to the participants with normal WHtR. ConclusionThe prevalence of dyslipidemia was high among adult residents in Shaanxi province; the dyslipidemia prevalence was closely correlated with BMI, WC, and WHtR and increased with obese conditions.

Objective To investigate the effect of miR-429 on the proliferation and migration of breast cancer cells and its mechanism. Methods RT-qPCR and Western blotting were used to measure the relative mRNA and protein expression levels of eIF4E in breast cancer MCF-7, MDA-MB-231, MDA-MB-468, and BT-549 cells and normal breast epithelial MCF-10A cells. MCF-7 cells were transfected with miR-429 mimics (group A), mimics NC (group B), miR-429 inhibitors (group C), and inhibitors NC (group D), and RT-qPCR, CCK-8 assay, wound healing assay, and Western blotting were used to measure the expression of miR-429, cell proliferation and migration, and the relative mRNA and protein expression levels of eIF4E in groups A-D. The 293T cells were transfected with eIF4E-3'UTR-Wt+miR-429 mimics (group E), eIF4E-3'UTR-Wt+mimics NC (group F), eIF4E-3'UTR-Mut+miR-429 mimics (group G), and eIF4E-3'UTR-Mut+mimics NC (group H), and relative luciferase activity was measured for groups E-H. The targeted regulatory effect of miR-429 on eIF4E was analyzed. Abstract Background Immune cell heterogenicity is known to determine the therapeutic response to cancer progression. Neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy (NACI) has shown clinical benefits in some patients with advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), but the underlying mechanism behind this clinical response is unknown. The efficacy of NACI needs to be potentiated by identifying accurate biomarkers to predict clinical responses. Here, we attempted to identify molecules predicting NACI response in advanced HNSCC. Methods We performed combined single‐cell RNA sequencing (scRNA‐seq) and multiplex immunofluorescence (mIHC) staining with tumor samples derived from NACI‐treated HNSCC patients to identify a new tumor‐infiltrating cell (TIL) subtype, CD103+CD8+ TILs, associated with clinical response, while both in vitro and in vivo assays were carried out to determine its antitumor efficiency. The regulatory mechanism of the CD103+CD8+ TILs population was examined by performing cell‐cell interaction analysis of the scRNA‐seq data and spatial analysis of the mIHC images. Results We established intratumoral CD103+CD8+ TILs density as a determinant of NACI efficacy in cancers. Our scRNA‐seq results indicated that the population of CD103+CD8+ TILs was dramatically increased in the responders of NACI‐treated HNSCC patients, while mIHC analysis confirmed the correlation between intratumoral CD103+CD8+ TILs density and NACI efficacy in HNSCC patients. Further receiver operating characteristic curve analysis defined this TIL subset as a potent marker to predict patient response to NACI. Functional assays showed that CD103+CD8+ TILs were tumor‐reactive T cells, while programmed cell death protein‐1 (PD‐1) blockade enhanced CD103+CD8+ TILs cytotoxicity against tumor growth in vivo. Mechanistically, targeting the triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2‐positive (TREM2+) macrophages might enhance the population of CD103+CD8+ TILs and facilitate antitumor immunity during NACI treatment. Conclusions Our study highlights the impact of intratumoral CD103+CD8+ TILs density on NACI efficacy in different cancers, while the efforts to elevate its population warrant further clinical investigation.

Abstract A series of high‐performance linear and cross‐linked polyimide (PI) aerogels with different molecular structures have been successfully synthesised using the freeze‐drying process. In this study, the comprehensive regulation of microstructure, thermodynamic, thermal insulation and dielectric properties of PI aerogels are achieved by controlling the rigid/flexible structure and composition of polymerised monomers. The increase in rigidity of PI molecular structure could promote the formation of denser pores, which is beneficial to improve the thermodynamic and thermal insulation properties of aerogels. Notably, the cross‐linked PI aerogel prepared by introducing cross‐linking agent (tris(4‐aminophenyl) amine, [TPA]) into linear PI exhibits high thermal stability (Td5% > 560°C), excellent ultralow permittivity (εr = 1.31, f = 106 Hz) and good thermal insulation property (k = 0.056 W/m · K). This innovative strategy promotes the wider application of the cross‐linked polyimide aerogel in the field of integrated circuits and aerospace exploration.

Transition metal oxide (TMO)-based nanozymes have appeared as hopeful tools for antitumor applications due to their unique catalytic properties and ability to modulate the tumor microenvironment (TME). The purpose of this review is to provide an overview of the latest progress made in the field of TMO-based nanozymes, focusing on their enzymatic activities and participating metal ions. These nanozymes exhibit catalase (CAT)-, peroxidase (POD)-, superoxide dismutase (SOD)-, oxidase (OXD)-, and glutathione oxidase (GSH-OXD)-like activities, enabling them to regulate reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and glutathione (GSH) concentrations within the TME. Widely studied transition metals in TMO-based nanozymes include Fe, Mn, Cu, Ce, and the hybrid multimetallic oxides, which are also summarized. The review highlights several innovative nanozyme designs and their multifunctional capabilities. Despite the significant progress in TMO-based nanozymes, challenges such as long-term biosafety, targeting precision, catalytic mechanisms, and theoretical supports remain to be addressed, and these are also discussed. This review contributes to the summary and understanding of the rapid development of TMO-based nanozymes, which holds great promise for advancing nanomedicine and improving cancer treatment.
