Recent advancements in the field have resulted in significant progress in achieving realistic head reconstruction and manipulation using neural radiance fields (NeRF). Despite these advances, capturing intricate facial details remains a persistent challenge. Moreover, casually captured input, involving both head poses and camera movements, introduces additional difficulties to existing methods of head avatar reconstruction. To address the challenge posed by video data captured with camera motion, we propose a novel method, AvatarWild, for reconstructing head avatars from monocular videos taken by consumer devices. Notably, our approach decouples the camera pose and head pose, allowing reconstructed avatars to be visualized with different poses and expressions from novel viewpoints. To enhance the visual quality of the reconstructed facial avatar, we introduce a view-dependent detail enhancement module designed to augment local facial details without compromising viewpoint consistency. Our method demonstrates superior performance compared to existing approaches, as evidenced by reconstruction and animation results on both multi-view and single-view datasets. Remarkably, our approach stands out by exclusively relying on video data captured by portable devices, such as smartphones. This not only underscores the practicality of our method but also extends its applicability to real-world scenarios where accessibility and ease of data capture are crucial.

Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (namely KRAS) is a key biomarker for prognostic analysis and targeted therapy of colorectal cancer. Recently, the advancement of machine learning, especially deep learning, has greatly promoted the development of KRAS mutation detection from tumor phenotype data, such as pathology slides or radiology images. However, there are still two major problems in existing studies: inadequate single-modal feature learning and lack of multimodal phenotypic feature fusion. In this paper, we propose a Disentangled Representation-based Multimodal Fusion framework integrating Pathomics and Radiomics (DRMF-PaRa) for KRAS mutation detection. Specifically, the DRMF-PaRa model consists of three parts: (1) the pathomics learning module, which introduces a tissue-guided Transformer model to extract more comprehensive and targeted pathological features; (2) the radiomics learning module, which captures the generic hand-crafted radiomics features and the task-specific deep radiomics features; (3) the disentangled representation-based multimodal fusion module, which learns factorized subspaces for each modality and provides a holistic view of the two heterogeneous phenotypic features. The proposed model is developed and evaluated on a multi modality dataset of 111 colorectal cancer patients with whole slide images and contrast-enhanced CT. The experimental results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed DRMF-PaRa model with an accuracy of 0.876 and an AUC of 0.865 for KRAS mutation detection.

Iron is considered as an attractive alternative material for bioresorbable scaffolds (BRS). The sirolimus eluting iron bioresorbable scaffold (IBS), developed by Biotyx Medical (Shenzhen, China), is the only iron-based BRS with an ultrathin-wall design. The study aims to investigate the long-term efficacy, safety, biocompatibility, and lumen changes during the biodegradation process of the IBS in a porcine model. A total of 90 IBSs and 70 cobalt-chromium everolimus eluting stents (EES) were randomly implanted into nonatherosclerotic coronary artery of healthy mini swine. The multimodality assessments including coronary angiography, optical coherence tomography, micro-computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and histopathological evaluations, were performed at different time points. There was no statistical difference in area stenosis between IBS group and EES group at 6 months, 1year, 2 years and 5 years. Although the scaffolded vessels narrowed at 9 months, expansive remodeling with increased mean lumen area was found at 3 and 5 years. The IBS struts remained intact at 6 months, and the corrosion was detectable at 9 months. At 5 years, the iron struts were completely degraded and absorbed in situ, without in-scaffold restenosis or thrombosis, lumen collapse, aneurysm formation, and chronic inflammation. No local or systemic toxicity and abnormal histopathologic manifestation were found in all experiments. Results from real-time PCR indicated that no sign of iron overload was reported in scaffolded segments. Therefore, the IBS shows comparable efficacy, safety, and biocompatibility with EES, and late lumen enlargement is considered as a unique feature in the IBS-implanted vessels.

Abstract Timely and effective diagnosis of fungal keratitis (FK) is necessary for suitable treatment and avoiding irreversible vision loss for patients. In vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) has been widely adopted to guide the FK diagnosis. We present a deep learning framework for diagnosing fungal keratitis using IVCM images to assist ophthalmologists. Inspired by the real diagnostic process, our method employs a two-stage deep architecture for diagnostic predictions based on both image-level and sequence-level information. To the best of our knowledge, we collected the largest dataset with 96,632 IVCM images in total with expert labeling to train and evaluate our method. The specificity and sensitivity of our method in diagnosing FK on the unseen test set achieved 96.65% and 97.57%, comparable or better than experienced ophthalmologists. The network can provide image-level, sequence-level and patient-level diagnostic suggestions to physicians. The results show great promise for assisting ophthalmologists in FK diagnosis.

Background Cerebral infarction is a disorder of blood supply to the local brain tissue area caused by various causes. Tongnao Decoction is approved and used in Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine for the treatment of cerebral infarction. However, the specific mechanisms underlying its action remain unclear. Objective To explain the mechanism of Tongnao Decoction in the treatment of cerebral infarction through network pharmacology and clinical trails. Methods From January 2019 to June 2020, a total of 199 patients with cerebral infarction admitted to Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine were included in the clinical study. and divided into the control group (97 cases) and experimental group (102 cases) according to the method of random number table. Both groups received standardized treatment for stable cerebral infarction, and the experimental group was treated with Tongnao Decoction. The National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) was used to assess the degree of functional impairment caused by stroke, and the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) was used to assess the recovery of neurological function for both groups before treatment and at 2 weeks of treatment. The chemical compounds of Tongnao Decoction were screened from TCMSP and literature, and those with bioavailability (OB) ≥30% and drug-like properties (DL) ≥0.18 requirements were selected to find the active ingredient of the prescription. OMIM and GeneCards databases were used to analyze the molecular targets of Tongnao Decoction for the treatment of cerebral infarction. After screening the common targets, Cytoscape software, String database were used to plot the network of compounds and target proteins, construct protein-protein interaction (PPI) network, gene ontology (GO) function, and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) signaling pathway enrichment analysis, respectively. The Advanced Geosynchronous Radiation Imager (AGRI) is a mission-critical instrument for the Fengyun series of satellites. AGRI acquires full-disk images every 15 min and views East Asia every 5 min through 14 spectral bands, enabling the detection of highly variable aerosol optical depth (AOD). Quantitative retrieval of AOD has hitherto been challenging, especially over land. In this study, an AOD retrieval algorithm is proposed that combines deep learning and transfer learning. The algorithm uses core concepts from both the Dark Target (DT) and Deep Blue (DB) algorithms to select features for the machine-learning (ML) algorithm, allowing for AOD retrieval at 550 nm over both dark and bright surfaces. The algorithm consists of two steps: ① A baseline deep neural network (DNN) with skip connections is developed using 10 min Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) AODs as the target variable, and ② sunphotometer AODs from 89 ground-based stations are used to fine-tune the DNN parameters. Out-of-station validation shows that the retrieved AOD attains high accuracy, characterized by a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.70, a mean bias error (MBE) of 0.03, and a percentage of data within the expected error (EE) of 70.7%. A sensitivity study reveals that the top-of-atmosphere reflectance at 650 and 470 nm, as well as the surface reflectance at 650 nm, are the two largest sources of uncertainty impacting the retrieval. In a case study of monitoring an extreme aerosol event, the AGRI AOD is found to be able to capture the detailed temporal evolution of the event. This work demonstrates the superiority of the transfer-learning technique in satellite AOD retrievals and the applicability of the retrieved AGRI AOD in monitoring extreme pollution events.

CO2 capture from coal power plants is an important and necessary solution to realizing carbon neutrality in China, but CCS demonstration deployment in power sector is far behind expectations. Hence, the reduction potential of energy consumption and cost for CCS and its competitiveness to renewable powers are very important to make roadmaps and policies toward carbon neutrality. Unlike the popular recognition that capturing CO2 from flue gases is technically and commercially mature, this paper notes that it has been proved to be technically feasible but far beyond technology maturity and high energy penalty leads to its immaturity and therefore causes high cost. Additionally, the potential energy penalty reduction of capture is investigated thermodynamically, and future CO2 avoidance cost is predicted and compared to renewable power (solar PV and onshore wind power). Results show that energy penalty for CO2 capture can be reduced by 48%-57%. When installation capacity reaches a similar scale to that of solar PV in China (250 GW), CO2 capture cost in coal power plants can be reduced from the current 28-40 US$/ton to 10-20 US$/ton, and efficiency upgrade contributes to 67%-75% in cost reduction for high coal price conditions. In China, CO2 capture in coal power plants can be cost competitive with solar PV and onshore wind power. But it is worth noting that the importance and share of CCS role in CO2 emission reduction is decreasing since renewable power is already well deployed and there is still a lack of large-scale CO2 capture demonstrations in China. Innovative capture technologies with low energy penalties need to be developed to promote CCS. Results in this work can provide informative references for making roadmaps and policies regarding CO2 emission reductions that contribute towards carbon neutrality.

With the sustained growth of economy and significant changes in social demographics, the issue of elderly-related diseases has increasingly drawn attention particularly. Alzheimer's disease (AD),as a representative disease of neurodegenerative diseases has become a major challenge, affecting the health and quality of life among the elderly population severely. In recent years, the incidence, prevalence, and mortality rate of AD increase in China, imposing substantial economic burdens on families, society, and the entire healthcare system. To proactively address this challenge and respond to the national 'Healthy China Action' initiative, leading experts from Renji Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine,and Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention Chronic Non-communicable Disease Control Center, Fudan University School of Public Health, Shanghai Mental Health Center, Ruijin Hospital,Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Fujian Medical University, and other authoritative institutions, have jointly authored the 'China Alzheimer Disease Report 2024'. Building upon previous editions of 2021, 2022, and 2023, this report updates epidemiological data on AD in China, thoroughly analyzes the latest economic burdens of the disease, and comprehensively evaluates the current status of AD diagnosis and treatment services, as well as the allocation of public health resources in our country. The release of the 'China Alzheimer Disease Report 2024' not only reflects China's progress and efforts in AD research and prevention, but also underscores the social heightened concern for elderly health issues. It aims to provide scientific and technical guidance and robust data support for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of AD, offering a professional basis for the government and relevant departments to formulate targeted health policies and intervention measures. Furthermore, it serves as a platform for promoting academic exchanges and cooperation in this field domestically and internationally. Through the dissemination and application of this report, we anticipate it will not only serve as a reference for professionals but also enhance public awareness of AD, promote active participation across various sectors of society, and jointly advance the development of elderly health care in China, empowering us towards achieving 'healthy aging'.

Abstract Locally advanced breast cancer (LABC) is a heterogeneous group of breast cancer that accounts for 10–30% of breast cancer cases. Despite the ongoing development of current treatment methods, LABC remains a severe and complex public health concern around the world, thus prompting the urgent requirement for innovative diagnosis and treatment strategies. The primary treatment challenges are inoperable clinical status and ineffective local control methods. With the rapid advancement of nanotechnology, inorganic nanoparticles (INPs) exhibit a potential application prospect in diagnosing and treating breast cancer. Due to the unique inherent characteristics of INPs, different functions can be performed via appropriate modifications and constructions, thus making them suitable for different imaging technology strategies and treatment schemes. INPs can improve the efficacy of conventional local radiotherapy treatment. In the face of inoperable LABC, INPs have proposed new local therapeutic methods and fostered the evolution of novel strategies such as photothermal and photodynamic therapy, magnetothermal therapy, sonodynamic therapy, and multifunctional inorganic nanoplatform. This article reviews the advances of INPs in local accurate imaging and breast cancer treatment and offers insights to overcome the existing clinical difficulties in LABC management. Abstract Background Endocrine resistance driven by sustained activation of androgen receptor (AR) signaling pathway in advanced prostate cancer (PCa) is fatal. Characterization of mechanisms underlying aberrant AR pathway activation to search for potential therapeutic strategy is particularly important. Rac GTPase-activating protein 1 (RACGAP1) is one of the specific GTPase-activating proteins. As a novel tumor proto-oncogene, overexpression of RACGAP1 was related to the occurrence of various tumors. Methods Bioinformatics methods were used to analyze the relationship of expression level between RACGAP1 and AR as well as AR pathway activation. qRT-PCR and western blotting assays were performed to assess the expression of AR/AR-V7 and RACGAP1 in PCa cells. Immunoprecipitation and immunofluorescence experiments were conducted to detect the interaction and co-localization between RACGAP1 and AR/AR-V7. Gain- and loss-of-function analyses were conducted to investigate the biological roles of RACGAP1 in PCa cells, using MTS and colony formation assays. In vivo experiments were conducted to evaluate the effect of RACGAP1 inhibition on the tumor growth. Results RACGAP1 was a gene activated by AR, which was markedly upregulated in PCa patients with CRPC and enzalutamide resistance. AR transcriptionally activated RACGAP1 expression by binding to its promoter region. Reciprocally, nuclear RACGAP1 bound to the N-terminal domain (NTD) of both AR and AR-V7, blocking their interaction with the E3 ubiquitin ligase MDM2. Consequently, this prevented the degradation of AR/AR-V7 in a ubiquitin-proteasome-dependent pathway. Notably, the positive feedback loop between RACGAP1 and AR/AR-V7 contributed to endocrine therapy resistance of CRPC. Combination of enzalutamide and in vivo cholesterol-conjugated RIG-I siRNA drugs targeting RACGAP1 induced potent inhibition of xenograft tumor growth of PCa. Conclusion In summary, our results reveal that reciprocal regulation between RACGAP1 and AR/AR-V7 contributes to the endocrine resistance in PCa. These findings highlight the therapeutic potential of combined RACGAP1 inhibition and enzalutamide in treatment of advanced PCa.

Although targeting the androgen signaling pathway by androgen receptor (AR) inhibitors, including enzalutamide, has shown therapeutic effectiveness, inevitable emergence of acquired resistance remains a critical challenge in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer (PCa). Recognizing targetable genomic aberrations that trigger endocrine treatment failure holds great promise for advancing therapeutic interventions. Here, we characterized PLXNA1, amplified in a subset of PCa patients, as a contributor to enzalutamide resistance (ENZR). Elevated PLXNA1 expression facilitated PCa proliferation under enzalutamide treatment due to AKT signaling activation. Mechanistically, PLXNA1 recruited NRP1 forming a PLXNA1-NRP1 complex, which in turn potentiated the phosphorylation of the AKT. Either inhibiting PLXNA1-NRP1 complex with an NRP1 inhibitor, EG01377, or targeting PLXNA1-mediated ENZR with AKT inhibitors, abolished the pro-resistance phenotype of PLXNA1. Taken together, combination of AKT inhibitor and AR inhibitors presents a promising therapeutic strategy for PCa, especially in advanced PCa patients exhibiting PLXNA1 overexpression.

Objective Although Kawasaki disease (KD) is commonly regarded as a single disease entity, clinical subgroups have recently been described. We aimed to validate previous research on clinical subgroups and establish a KD subgroup differentiation model specific to China.Methods We analysed clinical data of 1682 patients diagnosed with KD at the Kunming Children’s Hospital from December 2014 to December 2022. We performed principal component analysis and hierarchical clustering on 13 continuous variables. Then, we grouped the patients based on the optimal number of clusters and analysed the clinical characteristics of each subgroup.Results We ultimately identified three subgroups. In cluster 1, younger patients predominantly exhibited the highest risk of coronary artery aneurysm and the lowest rate of intravenous immunoglobulin resistance. Cluster 2 was characterised by high inflammatory markers and a lowered risk of coronary artery aneurysm. Cluster 3 was characterised by liver involvement, with significant elevations in liver enzymes, gamma-glutamyl transferase and total bilirubin. We found a positive correlation between the ratio of the rising trend and intravenous immunoglobulin resistance. Cluster 1 and cluster 3 shared similarities with the previously identified younger age subgroup and liver subgroup, respectively, whereas cluster 2 was unique to our study.Conclusions Our study preliminarily validated a previous KD subgroup study and established a KD subgroup model in China.

ObjectiveThe objective is to elucidate the collaboration and current research status in the pediatric field of fNIRS using bibliometric analysis, and to discuss future directions.MethodBibliometric analysis was conducted on publications related to pediatric fNIRS research published before June 2024 in the Web of Science Core Collection using VOSviewer software and R language.ResultsA total of 761 documents were retrieved, published by 2,686 authors from 893 institutions across 44 countries in 239 journals. The number of publications has significantly increased since 2012. The United States is the country with the highest number of publications, University College London is the institution with the most publications, Lloyd-Fox Sarah is the author with the most publications and significant influence, and “Neurophotonics” is the journal with the most publications. The current hotspots mainly involve using fNIRS to study executive functions and autism spectrum disorders in children.ConclusionThe study provides useful reference information for researchers by analyzing publication numbers, collaborative networks, publishing journals, and research hotspots. In the future, there should be an emphasis on enhancing interdisciplinary and international collaboration to collectively dedicate efforts toward the advancement of fNIRS technology and the standardization of research.

Abstract In a coal mine, air leakage exists in some roadways through doors and other ventilation structures inevitably. Based on this opinion, there are different views on whether these roadways must be assigned airflow in coal mine ventilation design. This paper analyses some relevant regulations and criteria on the designed air quantity of coal mines. Then, based on the ventilation design of the Guizhou Yizhong Coal Mine, through the study of the calculation of needed air quantity of every working place and its distribution method in coal mine ventilation design, this paper puts forward that explosion-proof door, safety exit, and other short distance roadways with ventilation structures need not assign airflow in coal mine ventilation design, while some long-distance roadways need. Additionally, it presents the main reason to support this opinion, gives the distribution method of inner air leakage quantity, which comes with the calculation of the designed mine total air quantity, puts forward the remedy method for the air leakage through ventilation structures in a coal mine ventilation system, then offers the mine operator with the basic opinions for the day-to-day planning and effective operation of a coal mine ventilation system.

Abstract Data clustering has attracted the interest of scholars in many fields. In recent years, using heuristic algorithms to solve data clustering problems has gradually become a tendency. The black hole algorithm (BHA) is one of the popular heuristic algorithms among researchers because of its simplicity and effectiveness. In this paper, an improved self-adaptive logarithmic spiral path black hole algorithm (SLBHA) is proposed. SLBHA innovatively introduces a logarithmic spiral path and random vector path to BHA. At the same time, a parameter is used to control the randomness, which enhances the local exploitation ability of the algorithm. Besides, SLBHA designs a replacement mechanism to improve the global exploration ability. Finally, a self-adaptive parameter is introduced to control the replacement mechanism and maintain the balance between exploration and exploitation of the algorithm. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, comparison experiments are conducted on 13 datasets creatively using the evaluation criteria including the Jaccard coefficient as well as the Folkes and Mallows index. The proposed methods are compared with the selected algorithms such as the whale optimization algorithm (WOA), compound intensified exploration firefly algorithm (CIEFA), improved black hole algorithm (IBH), etc. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the compared algorithms on both external criteria and quantization error of the clustering problem.

Abstract Background Positive attitudes toward aging are considered essential for achieving psychological well-being in later life. However, there is currently a lack of a concise and comprehensive measurement tool specifically designed to assess attitudes toward aging among the elderly population in China. To address this gap, the present study aimed to develop a brief version of the Attitudes to Ageing Questionnaire tailored to older Chinese individuals and evaluate its psychometric properties. Methods Initially, a sample of community-dwelling older adults (Sample 1: n = 442, aged 60–88) was utilized to establish a new scale format. Subsequently, two convenience samples (Sample 2: n = 311, aged 60–90; Sample 3: n = 164, aged 60–89) were employed to evaluate the psychometric properties of this scale, including factor structure, internal consistency, test-retest reliability, convergent validity, and discriminant validity. Results We selected 12 items from the original questionnaire to create the brief scale. The brief scale maintained the three-factor structure of the full-format version, encompassing psychosocial loss, physical change, and psychological growth, and demonstrated adequate psychometric properties. Conclusions This development process shortens the administration time of the questionnaire while avoiding excessive loss of information. The newly developed scale serves as a reliable and valid assessment tool for measuring attitudes toward aging among older Chinese individuals and is well-suited for implementation in large-scale surveys that utilize an extensive array of questionnaires. This tool can be applied to assessing the effectiveness of interventions aimed at eliminating ageism.

Hypertriglyceridemia (HTG) is the third most common cause of acute pancreatitis (AP), and the incidence of HTG-induced AP (HTG-AP) is rising worldwide as a result of changes in lifestyle and dietary habits. In China, HTG accounts for 10% to 20% of the causes of AP, even becoming the second leading cause of AP. The presentation and diagnosis of HTG-AP is similar to that of AP from other causes, however, the complication rates and severe AP are significantly higher in patients with HTG-AP than in patients with other etiologies. Regarding the management of HTG-AP, the initial management is similar to that of AP from other causes and mainly includes fluid resuscitation, pain control, and nutritional support. In addition to supportive care, it is necessary to take appropriate measures to decrease serum TG levels, in order to alleviate the progression of AP and prevent recurrence. This review aims to summarize existing clinical and basic research evidence of HTG-AP and seeks to highlight the epidemiology, definition, pathogenesis, clinical course, diagnosis, management, prevention of recurrence, and specific clinical scenarios, such as HTG-AP during pregnancy, HTG-AP with diabetic ketoacidosis.

To explore the relationship between serum levels of midkine and omentin-1 and the severity of sepsis in patients, and their prognostic value. A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 180 sepsis patients. According to the severity of the patient’s condition, they were separated into sepsis group (n = 76), severe sepsis group (n = 59), and sepsis shock group (n = 45). Based on the survival within 28 days of admission, they were grouped into survivors group (n = 128) and nonsurvivors group (n = 52). The surge in global energy demand mandates a significant expansion of electric power substations. Nevertheless, the ecological consequences of electric power substation operation, particularly concerning the electromagnetic field, on soil microbial communities and nitrogen enrichment remain unexplored. In this study, we collected soil samples from six distinct sites at varying distances from an electric power substation in Xintang village, southeastern China, and investigated the impacts of electromagnetic field on the microbial diversity and community structures employing metagenomic sequencing technique. Our results showed discernible dissimilarities in the fungal community across the six distinct sites, each characterized by unique magnetic and electric intensities, whereas comparable variations were not evident within bacterial communities. Correlation analysis revealed a diminished nitrogen fixation capacity at the site nearest to the substation, characterized by low moisture content, elevated pH, and robust magnetic induction intensity and electric field intensity. Conversely, heightened nitrification processes were observed at this location compared to others. These findings were substantiated by the relative abundance of key genes associated with ammonium nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen production. This study provides insights into the relationships between soil microbial communities and the enduring operation of electric power substations, thereby contributing fundamental information essential for the rigorous environmental impact assessments of these facilities.

Infrared photodetectors (PDs) are widely used in fields such as military, medical, and aerospace. Traditional semiconductor materials including Si, InGaAs, and HgCdTe show high performance in a wide spectral range with the imaging function. Nevertheless, they also have limitations such as low-temperature operation, high cost, and toxicity. Fortunately, two-dimensional (2D) materials with narrow bandgaps featuring adjustable gaps, mechanical flexibility, and superior optoelectronic properties have the potential to bridge the gap between traditional materials in optoelectronic devices. However, 2D materials’ performance with respect to responsivity (Rλ) and external quantum efficiency (EQE) needs improvement. Tantalum nickel selenium (Ta2NiSe5) with a direct bandgap and high carrier mobility has prospects for broadband PD research. This study combines mechanical exfoliation and micro-nano-processing technology to prepare Ta2NiSe5 nanosheets and design a Ta2NiSe5-based PD, which has a broadband light response from 520 to 1550 nm with an Rλ value of up to 1.07 A/W. The highest EQE of the PD is 2.55, with the lowest noise equivalent power of 2.39 × 10−12 W/Hz1/2 and the highest specific detectivity (D*) of 9.3 × 108 cm Hz1/2/W. The response speed is stable with low power consumption, and the PD can perform high-resolution imaging through different liquids. Hence, Ta2NiSe5-based PDs have photoelectric properties including broadband detection, high responsiveness, and low-light detection, with a broad range of application in new optoelectronics.

ObjectivesTo explore the relationship between estradiol (E2) and the incidence of hyperuricemia (HUA) in adult women and to explore whether glucolipid metabolism disorders play a mediating role in mediating this relationship.MethodsA total of 2,941 participants aged 20–65 years were included in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2013–2016. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to evaluate the correlations of E2 with HUA. Multivariate linear regression analysis was performed to evaluate the associations between E2 and triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), and the triglyceride-glucose index (TyG). The restricted cubic spline (RCS) model was used to further explore the association between E2 and HUA and between TG, TC, and TyG and HUA. Mediation analyses were performed to examine whether TC, TG, and TyG mediated the relationship between E2 and HUA.ResultsAfter adjusting for covariates, logistic regression revealed that ln(E2) was significantly associated with HUA in the female subgroup (p = 0.035) and that the incidence of HUA tended to increase with decreasing ln(E2) (p for trend = 0.026). Linear regression showed that E2 was significantly associated with TC (p = 0.032), TG (p = 0.019), and TyG (p = 0.048). The RCS model showed that ln(E2) was linearly correlated with the incidence of HUA (p-overall = 0.0106, p-non-linear = 0.3030). TC and TyG were linearly correlated with HUA (TC: p-overall = 0.0039, p-non-linear = 0.4774; TyG: p-overall = 0.0082, p-non-linear = 0.0663), whereas TG was non-linearly correlated with HUA. Mediation analyses revealed that TC, TG, and TyG significantly mediated the relationship between ln(E2) and HUA (TC, indirect effect: −0.00148, 7.5%, p = 0.008; TG, indirect effect: −0.00062, 3.1%, p = 0.004; TyG, indirect effect: −0.00113, 5.6%, p = 0.016).ConclusionIn conclusion, this study demonstrated that compared with women aged 20–45 years, women aged 45–55 years and 55–65 years had lower E2 levels and a greater incidence of HUA. E2 levels and the incidence of HUA were negatively associated in female individuals but not in male individuals. In addition, TC, TG, and TyG, which are markers of glucolipid metabolism, played a mediating role in the association between E2 and HUA.

Resilience has become an important guiding ideology of modern urban governance. Using the panel data of 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in mainland China from 2016 to 2021, from the six dimensions of society, economy, institution, infrastructure, environment and community, the primary selection, optimization and screening of evaluation indicators are carried out. Embodying development tendency over time, the evaluation indicator system including 30 indicators is finally established. And empirical research is finished. Through resilience analysis, the resilience change characteristics of each province under temporal and spatial differences are compared, and the response mechanism and scope of influence factors for resilience are analyzed. The results show that there are obvious temporal and spatial differences in resilience among provinces. On the whole, Beijing Shi has the greatest resilience and Guizhou has the smallest resilience. Maintaining and enhancing resilience is an important issue for Beijing Shi, and Guizhou is under the greatest pressure to enhance resilience. Solid waste disposal, harmless disposal of domestic waste, and comprehensive population coverage of TV programs are the top three determinants of resilience. The maintenance and improvement of provincial resilience first need to consider environmental and social dimensions.

Abstract Integrating multiple single‐cell datasets is essential for the comprehensive understanding of cell heterogeneity. Batch effect is the undesired systematic variations among technologies or experimental laboratories that distort biological signals and hinder the integration of single‐cell datasets. However, existing methods typically rely on a selected dataset as a reference, leading to inconsistent integration performance using different references, or embed cells into uninterpretable low‐dimensional feature space. To overcome these limitations, a reference‐free method, Beaconet, for integrating multiple single‐cell transcriptomic datasets in original molecular space by aligning the global distribution of each batch using an adversarial correction network is presented. Through extensive comparisons with 13 state‐of‐the‐art methods, it is demonstrated that Beaconet can effectively remove batch effect while preserving biological variations and is superior to existing unsupervised methods using all possible references in overall performance. Furthermore, Beaconet performs integration in the original molecular feature space, enabling the characterization of cell types and downstream differential expression analysis directly using integrated data with gene‐expression features. Additionally, when applying to large‐scale atlas data integration, Beaconet shows notable advantages in both time‐ and space‐efficiencies. In summary, Beaconet serves as an effective and efficient batch effect removal tool that can facilitate the integration of single‐cell datasets in a reference‐free and molecular feature‐preserved mode.

IntroductionTo address issues related to shallow soil tillage, low soil nutrient content, and single tillage method in maize production in the Western Inner Mongolia Region, this study implemented various tillage and straw return techniques, including strip cultivation, subsoiling, deep tillage, no-tillage, straw incorporation with strip cultivation, straw incorporation with subsoiling, straw incorporation with deep tillage, and straw incorporation with no tillage, while using conventional shallow spinning by farmers as the control.MethodsWe employed Xianyu 696 (XY696) and Ximeng 6 (XM6) as experimental materials to assess maize 100-grains weight, grain filling rate parameters, and grain nutrient quality. This investigation aimed to elucidate how tillage and straw return influence the accumulation of grain material in different maize varieties.Results and discussionThe results indicated that proper implementation of tillage and straw return had a significant impact on the 100-grains weight of both varieties. In comparison to CK (farmer’s rotary rotation), the most notable rise in 100-grains weight was observed under the DPR treatment (straw incorporation with deep tillage), with a maximum increase of 4.84% for XY696 and 6.28% for XM6. The proper implementation of tillage and straw return in the field resulted in discernible differences in the stages of improving the grain filling rates of different maize varieties. Specifically, XY696 showed a predominant increase in the filling rate during the early stage (V1), while XM6 exhibited an increase in the filling rates during the middle and late stages (V2 and V3). In comparison to CK, V1 increased by 1.54% to 27.56% in XY696, and V2 and V3 increased by 0.41% to 10.42% in XM6 under various tillage and straw return practices. The proper implementation of tillage and straw return had a significant impact on the nutritional quality of the grains in each variety. In comparison to CK, the DPR treatment resulted in the most pronounced decrease in the soluble sugar content of grains by 25.43% and the greatest increase in the crude fat content of grains by 9.67%.ConclusionUltimately, the proper implementation of soil tillage and straw return facilitated an increase in grain crude fat content and significantly boosted grain weight by improving the grouting rate parameters at all stages for various maize varieties. Additionally, the utilization of DPR treatment proved to be more effective. Overall, DPR is the most promising strategy to improve maize yield and the nutritional quality of grain in the long term in the Western Inner Mongolia Region.

Polystyrene microplastics (PS-MPs) are new types of environmental pollutant that have garnered significant attention in recent years since they were found to cause damage to the human respiratory system when they are inhaled. The pulmonary fibrosis is one of the serious consequences of PS-MPs inhalation. However, the impact and underlying mechanisms of PS-MPs on pulmonary fibrosis are not clear. In this study, we studied the potential lung toxicity and PS-MPs-developed pulmonary fibrosis by long-term intranasal inhalation of PS-MPs. The results showed that after exposing to the PS-MPs, the lungs of model mouse had different levels of damage and fibrosis. Meanwhile, exposing to the PS-MPs resulted in a markedly decrease in glutathione (GSH), an increase in malondialdehyde (MDA), and iron overload in the lung tissue of mice and alveolar epithelial cells (AECs). These findings suggested the occurrence of PS-MP-induced ferroptosis. Inhibitor of ferroptosis (Fer-1) had alleviated the PS-MPs-induced ferroptosis. Mechanically, PS-MPs triggered cell ferroptosis and promoted the development of pulmonary fibrosis via activating the cGAS/STING signaling pathway. Inhibition of cGAS/STING with G150/H151 attenuated pulmonary fibrosis after PS-MPs exposure. Together, these data provided novel mechanistic insights of PS-MPs-induced pulmonary fibrosis and a potential therapeutic paradigm.
