Abstract

Photonic crystals are dielectric structure materials with photonic band gaps which are composed of matters with different dielectric constants and arranged in space periodically. The slow photon and band gap reflection in the photonic band gap can promote the photonic capture and control the interaction between light and matter. Based on the unique optical properties and large specific surface area of photonic crystals, the photonic crystal structure is introduced into the design of semiconductor photocatalytic materials, which can effectively enhance the photocatalytic reaction activity. The preparation methods of three-dimensional photonic crystals and slow photons effect was introduced in this paper,the research progress was especially summarized in the inverse opal photonic crystal as catalysts in wastewater purification of light, hydrogen production, carbon dioxide conversion and etc,and for the challenge faced by the photonic crystal light catalyst, multilayer three-dimensional photonic crystals with different refractive index and the periodicity were put forward, in order to promote photonic crystals applications in the field of photocatalysis.

Abstract

Colibactin is an as-yet-uncharacterized genotoxic secondary metabolite produced by human gut bacteria. Here we report the biosynthetic discovery of two new precolibactin molecules from Escherichia coli, including precolibactin-886, which uniquely incorporates the highly sought genotoxicity-associated aminomalonate building block into its unprecedented macrocyclic structure. This work provides new insights into the biosynthetic logic and mode of action of this colorectal-cancer-linked microbial chemical.

Abstract

Tumor is a metabolic disease. The effect of oncogene expression on the metabolism of cancer cells is one of the hotspots in cancer research. In this study, 1H NMR-based metabonomics analysis was used to explore the metabolic characteristics of glioma cell lines with low expression of SIRT7, and to identify the characteristic metabolites and metabolic pathways related to the expression of SIRT7. The results showed that there were significant differences in metabolic profiles between the SIRT7 low expression group and the control group, and 22 aqueous metabolites were found to vary significantly. Compared with the control group, the concentration of 12 metabolites including lactate, glycine, and glutamate, and so on, increased in SIRT7 low expression glioma cell lines, while the concentration of 10 metabolites such as valine, leucine, lysine, et al. decreased. Pathway enrichment analysis indicated that the metabolic pathways of aminoacyl-tRNA biosynthesis, tyrosine metabolism, and so on, were closely related to the low expression of SIRT7. The results provide a theoretical basis for further mechanism elucidation of SIRT7 regulating glioma cell metabolism.

Abstract

Precious metal Pt-based electrocatalysts have been widely used in the methanol catalytic oxidation anodes in direct methanol fuel cells. However, decreasing their cost and improving their efficiency and durability have still been challenging. Herein, ternary PtPdCu nanocatalysts are synthesized through a facile one-step hydrothermal synthesis method. When KI is present with a suitable amount in the synthesis, PtPdCu nanospheres with surface-embedded CuI clusters (CuI/PtPdCu) are fabricated. However, without KI, the prepared PtPdCu catalysts show a distinct hollow structure (h-PtPtCu). CuI/PtPdCu displays the highest specific activity with enhancement 4 times higher than commercial Pt/C for the methanol oxidation reaction in an alkaline medium. The superior activity can be attributed to two aspects: 1) the electronic effect originating from the highly alloyed PtPdCu; 2) the synergetic effect resulting from surface inlaid CuI clusters, which can promote the CO intermediate removal. Furthermore, because of the stable Pt-Pd-rich surface and its special linked hollow structure, the h-PtPtCu catalyst exhibits good durability with only a 3.6% decay in the specific activity., QC 20230922

Abstract

A novel, well-defined graft copolymer (polystyrene (PS)-g-poly(metthyl methacrylate) (PMMA)) with control over the length of both the backbone and the side chain was synthesized by the coupling reaction living PMMA with bromomethylated PS. The backbone polymer was prepared by the anionic polymerization of styrene with n -butyllithium followed by bromomethylation using C 8 H 17 OCH 2 Br/SnCl 4 . The living PMMA was prepared by the group transfer polymerization of MMA. Graft copolymers with a narrow molecular weight distribution, D = 1.2 ∼ 1.4 at an M ¯ n of around 3 × 10 4 −7 × 10 4 were obtained. The reactivity of the bromomethylated PS and the living PMMA decreased with increase in their molecular weight; the favoured reaction temperature was −20°C. Characterization of the product was performed by methods including 1 H n.m.r., g.p.c. and d.s.c.. Compared with the homopolymers PS and PMMA, the copolymer had a lower glass transition temperature.

Abstract

Statistical group transfer copolymerization (GTP) of acrylates with methacrylates have been performed for four binary systems using 1-methoxy-2-methyl-1-trimethylsilyloxypropene (initiator) and tetrabutylammonium bibenzoate (catalyst) in tetrahydrofuran solution. The copolymer compositions were determined by 1 H n.m.r. spectroscopy and the results evaluated by the extended Kelen-Tudős method. The monomer pairs concerned are (1) ethyl acrylate (EA) and methyl methacrylate (MMA), (2) methyl acrylate (MA) and ethyl methacrylate (EMA), (3) MA and butyl methacrylate (BMA) and (4) MA and iso butyl methacrylate (i-BMA). The reactivity ratios were found to be γ EA = 14.15, γ MMA = 0.01, γ MA = 14.41, γ EMA = 0.01, γ MA = 13.96, γ BMA = 0.23, γ MA = 8.66 and γ iBMA = 0.08, respectively. Statistical anionic copolymerizations were also carried out for two monomer pairs to compare with the results for GTP. The reactivity ratios are γ EA = 9.67, γ MMA = 0.11, γ MA = 3.51 and γ EMA = 0.20. It was found that acrylate is much more reactive than methacrylate; the reactivity ratios are quite different from unity and show a high similarity in GTP and anionic polymerization.
