Human Resource analytics is a trending tool that helps companies achieve competitive advantage, and it is constantly evolving to meet the dynamic needs of modern businesses. The constant influx of new research in human resource analytics floods scholars with vast amounts of information in qualitative and conceptual research, making researchers difficult to navigate and identify key contributions. This study evaluates publication trends over the past decade and aims to reveal evolving research patterns. Subsequently, the focus shifts to identify the most influential sources in HR analytics research. Finally, pinpoint emerging themes within HR analytics publications aims to offer valuable insights into current trends and guide future research in this field. This study analyzed 262 articles sourced from the Scopus database using VOSviewer. Using scientific mapping of literature and performance analysis, the discussion encompasses publication trend, geographical distribution of research, identification of influential publications, and emerging trends. A consistent upward trend in HR analytics publications since 2019, with notable publications in different regions, reflect its growing global significance. Interestingly, ethical considerations persist as a central theme, while research focus shifts from general HR topics to specific areas and technology-related terms. The analysis also highlights the evolution of HR analytics into a cross-disciplinary field, incorporating computer science terms, indicating transformative potential for traditional HR practices. The findings provide direction for researchers and organizations, ensuring they remain abreast of the latest developments in the field.

Covid-19 epidemic has caused huge losses to the world economy, and its development speed and impact have far exceeded expectations. The outbreak of the epidemic is mainly concentrated in densely populated areas such as urban centers. Construction enterprises are labor-intensive enterprises, and the risk of increased costs is inevitable. This paper takes Chinese construction enterprises as an example, based on the survey report issued by the China Construction Industry Association on the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic on construction enterprises, analyzes the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic on the cost of construction enterprises, and provide relevant suggestions for how to deal with the risks of increased costs for construction enterprises.

Purpose: Decision-making process about financial investment is complicated. Relying on modern financial theory to explain behaviours of individual investors is inadequate because it focuses on the objective risk as the determinant for making investment decisions under the assumption that individuals are rational. The current study, which was built from the financial, sociological and psychological perspectives, investigated the predictors of risk perception and determined the association of risk perception and attitude toward financial investment intention. This study served the purpose of unravelling the complexity of the financial investment decision-making process among individuals. Design/methodology/approach: The research framework was based on Perception Formation Model (PFM) with further support from the Theory of Planned Behaviour, decision making models under risk, and knowledge-attitudebehaviour model. Purposive-sampling method was adopted. The dataset, which consisted a total of 492 responses from income earners below the age of prime savings years were entered for analysis. Twelve hypotheses were tested using the Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) statistical software. Findings: Measurement-model assessment revealed the data fitted well to the research model Results from the structural-model assessment revealed subjective knowledge, peer influence, internet influence, and risk propensity had a significant relationship with favourable risk perception. Consistent with the PFM proposition, it was found favourable risk perception significantly related to higher intention toward financial investment. Research limitations/implications: The resultant outcomes strengthen the understanding of how financial investment decision is performed by individuals, which is crucial in the personal-finance industry, especially in promoting a long-term and meaningful client-advisor relationship. Knowledge management is a fundamental requirement for continuous survival of an organization. The involvement of all parties – the government, universities, industries, and communities are crucial to ensure success of knowledge transfer and knowledge creation. In the past, it is shown that the collaborations among academia-university-community had played a significant contribution in developing human capital and the country economy. The Malaysia Plans, Vision 2020 and the New Economy Model inspire the Ministry of Education (MOE) Malaysia to embark on Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP). Since the inception of KTP in 2010, the collaborations between the Malaysian local universities, industries and communities continue to flourish. As at 2017, there were 460 KT projects implemented in Malaysia by all the 20 public universities. This study aims to investigate the main factors that contribute to the success of KT implementations in Malaysia. This study was conducted with the vision to identify the key factors for knowledge transfer projects’ implementation. The study has outlined Academia Capability dimensions and Knowledge Transfer Mechanism as one of the main factors affecting the KT project performance. In addition, the study has also examined the role of Knowledge Transfer Mechanism as a mediating factor. The study has employed quantitative design and information were collected through questionnaires survey involving academia represented by various local universities that have been granted projects by the KT Centre. Findings of this study has confirmed Academia Capability dimensions have positively and significantly affecting the KT project performance. These findings imply enriching human capital values of academia and strengthening support system are necessary in ensuring the success of a KTP project. The study aims to investigate the perceptions of the local community of Semporna with regard to the establishment of the Tun Sakaran Marina Park. Specifically, the present paper compares the opinions on socioeconomic impacts of its establishment of two community groups: ocean-dependent community versus all the others. Structured questionnaire was used and purposive-sampling method was carried out. More than 200 respondents participated and data were analyzed using SPSS. The results generally indicated the local community had benefited socioeconomically from the marine protected areas. They were feeling proud of having the park. Despite recorded mostly favourable perceptions, significant opinion differences in certain aspects were observed between the two groups. An important aspect of concern was job opportunity, where the ocean-dependent group felt there was not much job opportunity. On the contrary, the rest of the local community thought differently as they generally agreed employment opportunity was good. Significant gap was also recorded in term of activities that can be done in Semporna, in which the former was showing a lower degree of optimism. These results seemed to suggest there may be disparities in term of economic opportunity or resource distribution among the community in Semporna, which may explain a much lower self-reported monthly income of the ocean-dependent community group. In terms of marine conservation and preservation, the ocean-dependent community also expressed stronger perceptions on ineffectiveness. Moving forward, the paper recommended some suggestions to narrow the opinion gaps between the two community groups.

A spirit of collaborative partnership amongst universities, industries, and communities is a prerequisite for a success of knowledge transfer program initiatives. The effort provides a platform for exchange of ideas either tangible or intangible, expertise, explicit or implicit knowledge and skills amongst parties involved. Companies are now beginning to recognize the fundamental value of knowledge transfer mechanism on how it is acquired, used and shared which contribute to their core competencies and in making sound strategic decisions to maintain the competitive advantage in today’s business environment. As to promote the ideas of knowledge transfer, the Ministry of Education (MOE) Malaysia has underlined the graduate intern’s capability as one of the areas under the critical agenda which need to be addressed in portraying the success of the knowledge transfer programme (KTP). Therefore, in order to obtain deeper insights of the issue, this project attempts to examine the contribution of graduate intern capabilities towards the success of KTP project in Malaysia. This study has employed a questionnaire that has been distributed to academics in the public universities in Malaysia who have obtained KTP grants from the government. The study has revealed that graduate interns’ capabilities contribute significantly to the implementation of knowledge transfer projects. Thus, higher education institutions must then address and review its present teaching and learning delivery to enhance students’ capabilities in dealing with the industry as well as with community.

The study was conducted to gauge the opinions of the local community of Semporna on the establishment of the Tun Sakaran Marine Park. Specifically, the study sought the perceptions of respondents with regard to: (1) socioeconomic impact, (2) development of surrounding areas, and (3) marine conservation and resources. Convenience sampling was employed and data were sourced using a structured questionnaire. Generally, it was concluded that the local community felt the establishment of the Tun Sakaran Marine Park has brought positive impact to the local economic activities. The place experienced good improvement in various economic aspects, particularly tourism related. Although the marine park was perceived as beneficial, its resources were thought to be ineffectively conserved and managed. Despite Semporna gained good reputation as place to enjoy the marine’s beauty, the local community felt that the availability and maintenance of public facilities were somewhat neglected. Thus, study provided recommendations to preserve the sustainability of the area both economically and environmentally.

This paper investigates on how different level of financial literacy interacts with retirement savings in Malaysia. Alongside, the study adds mediating variable of individual behavioural beliefs, which focuses on public and private employees’ intention to accumulate regular savings for an old-age provision. The significant factors have found between advanced financial literacy and retirement savings, with the mediating effect of behavioural beliefs for that association. However, basic literacy has no sufficient impact, so does the mediating effect to support the outcome variable. Several implications have emerged: government and stakeholder’s involvements in intensifying financial educational programmes exclusively for advanced capital markets and strategic investment, offering more alternative retirement savings and investments portfolio with a higher potential growth of product, and by constantly promoting individual’s salient beliefs notably for those with an advanced literacy and propensity to save and invest for retirement adequacy.

Risk perceptions and attitude are important in the context of decision-making process involving risky options because individuals normally do not have perfect information and their decision making is affected by bounded rationality. The paper aims to analyse and develop the instrument for the examination of the central roles of risk perception and attitude, sequentially, in affecting the behavioural intention towards financial investment. Items included in the pre- test and pilot test stages were adapted from literature, but not specifically related to personal finance. The two stages have significant roles in ensuring and strengthening the content validity and the reliability of the instrument. The finalised survey instrument contained a total of 40 indirect measured items, which were then employed in the study.

The research highlights three Value-at-Risk (VaR) representations that are integrated with GARCH-based models to estimate the Malaysian stock exchange market risk. The methodology covers the quantifications of expected maximum losses at 95% level of confidence for six non-financial sectors namely the construction, consumer product, industrial product, plantation, property and trade and services from the year of 1993 until 2006. Further analyses are conducted using Kupiec, Christoffersen and Lopez backtests. The results in particular based on Lopez’s Quadratic Loss Function test proved that when the basic VaR is integrated with GARCH model under the assumption of t-distribution, the model is found to be at the most accurate level. Thus consideration on non-normal behaviour of the market is important to determine financial risk quantifications.

Life insurance policies can be an element of a retirement plan to ensure financial stability after a person retires. However to date, most research conducted from the perspectives of the Malaysian market are focused only on the effect of economic variables rather than any other explanatory factors especially the non-economic variables towards the acquisition of life insurance by household in this country (Ahmad, Lim & Abdul Jamal, 2011; Redzuan, Abdul Rahman & S.H. Aidid, 2009; Ahmad & Yaakob, 2005). In line to address the gap, this research is expected to address the following objectives that are to examine the influence of socioeconomic variables, financial status, savings attitudes and the type of life insurance towards the acquistion of life insurance by households in the state of Sabah. The analytical approach is based on the model by Ferber and Lee (1980) and the Consumer Expenditure Surveys (2011) whereby a multiple regression function of a linear model is constructed to test the effects of the independent variables consisted of non-economic factors on the life insurance acquisition. This research suggests that the acquisition is contributed by the occupation, level of education, ownership of house and/or credit card and budget attitude. Also, two other independent variables namely the Financial Status and the Type of Life Insurance seem influential in affecting the life insurance acquisition. Overall, the results from this study seem to conform to those expected of rational insurance consumers.

In Sabah and the rest Malaysia, there are increasing signs of personal financial mismanagement and financial stress, especially among the young generation. Experts in the area of personal finance posit that financial illiteracy is one of the contributing factors to the inability of a person to properly manage his or her financial matters as well as long­term financial commitment. Sabah, being one of the biggest and one of the diverse states has many preconditions for financial literacy research. The result of the research indicates the level of financial literacy in Sabah is very low. Based on the sample of size of 1191 from across the state, the mean of individual's score is 9.6 (based on maximum scale of 24) and almost 70 percent (69.8% to be exact) of the respondents fail in the literacy test. Analysis based on demographical factors suggests that males are better financial literacy than females. Financial literacy is also better among the higher age groups. Financial literacy gaps also exist in term of level of education and income group. This study also finds that geographical location is important factor. Perhaps the most interesting factor of the research of that a non-majority ethnic group has came up top in financial literacy, and the performance gap compare to all other ethnic groups is statistically significant. Last but not least, the researchers call for more financial education programmes that are aimed to inculcate positive attitude towards financial management in order to create a more positive financial behaviour among people. This call is made based on a series of bivariate relationship analyses that were conducted in the research.

Retirement planning becomes a crucial concern as the life expectancy has increased as well as the rises of health care costs. This study attempts to investigate the relationship between attitudes towards personal financial planning with retirement planning behavior among workers in Kota Kinabalu who have opted for EPF as their retirement benefit. The moderating effects of age and income on aforesaid the five dimension attitudes of personal financial planning has also been investigated. A total of 200 respondents were used and the results revealed that retirement planning behavior can be explained by 10.9 percents of five dimensions of attitudes towards personal financial planning. Retirement planning, money management, investment planning, and estate planning were found to have significant positive relationship with retirement planning behavior. However, the moderator factor of age only has significant influence on the estate planning. The implication was useful for the financial planners and government to do the adjustment and propose more optional solution regarding retirement issues.

This study examined the determinants of corporate hedging based on samples taken from non-financial firms on the United Kingdom’s Financial Times Stock Exchange FTSE 250. In this study, derivative usage is used as the proxy for risk management. The research model was estimated using the univariate binomial probit model and the Heckman two-stage regression model. The result indicates that executives with options on company’s shares prefer risk-taking and choose not to hedge. The study also found that corporate hedging is positively related to (1) level of firms’ leverage and (2) proportion of total turnover spent for interest payment. These results suggest that firms that face higher probability of financial distress are using derivatives as risk management tool to stabilised firms’ cash flows. Finally, this study also found that large firms are more likely to use derivatives due to the benefits of economies of scale.

This study aimed to determine the factors influencing the capital structure decisions in Malaysia using the companies listed on the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Top 100 Index. The objectives of this study were achieved by examining the relationship between leverage (dependent variable) and four determinants identified as independent variables, which included profitability, tangibility, liquidity and firm size. Data of 69 firms which covered the period from 2007 to 2011 were evaluated using the panel data analysis with total observations of 345 firm-years. By applying the fixed effects regression model, results showed that profitability, tangibility and liquidity had significant negative relationship with leverage while firm size is positively related with leverage. Moreover, results also revealed that profitability was the most influential factor of the capital structure in Malaysia. The findings of this study were consistent with several previous studies as well as the theoretical background of capital structure determinants. These results also may represent the unique characteristics of capital structure of firms in Malaysia.

The objectives of this article are to examine the determinants and relationship of economic variables towards the demand of life insurance policy in Malaysia. Based on the data sample from 1991 to the recently 2010, the empirical analysis proved that the three main factors which have influenced the life insurance demand are associated firstly with the roles played by the individual’s available expenses, secondly the short-term interest rates and finally the growth of an economy. The findings also highlights that consistent with previous research findings, the demand increases with individual’s available expenses and economic growth, and decreases with the condition of short-term interest rates in the market.
