The study aimed to identify the psychological stress level among orphans in Aqaba governorate and its relationship with both psychological hardness and life quality. The sample of the study was consisted of ( 102 ) male and female Orphans students whom were selected using the simple random method of sample selecting. Three scales were developed: The Psychological Stress Scale, The Psychological Hardiness Scale and The Life Quality Scale, these scales were checked for reliability and consistency, results indicated that the psychological stress level among orphan students in Aqaba governorate was medium as the emotional dimension came first with a high level while the physiological dimension came second with a medium level. Results also indicated a significant statistical negative relationship at α≥ 0.05 between psychological stress and its dimensions from the one hand, and each of psychological hardiness with its dimensions and life quality with its dimensions in the other. In addition, results indicated no differences between the two genders in the psychological stress level as whole and it was cognitive and emotional dimensions, but indicated differences between male and female participants in the physiological dimension for psychological stress. Finally, the study included a number of recommendations including: further studies dealing with the relationship of psychological stress and other variables, the orphans of self-esteem and psychological adjustment.

Nursing services is a high stress job. To improve the life quality of nursing staffs, we explored the relationships among psychological capital, job immersion, and life quality in nursing staffs, and verified that the psychological capital plays an intermediary role between the job immersion and life quality in nursing staffs. General data questionnaire, job immersion scale, psychological capital scale, and life quality scale were performed in nursing staffs who were from 6 third-class hospitals including 2 hospitals in Jinzhou city, 2 hospitals in Chaoyang city, and 2 hospitals in Huludao city. The relationships among psychological capital, job immersion, and life quality, and psychological capital as an intermediary role between the job immersion and life quality were analyzed using SPSS20.0 and AMOS19.0 softwares. In these nursing staffs, the total scores of the job immersion, psychological capital, and life quality were 47.45 ± 9.41, 65.63 ± 10.35, and 72.35 ± 11.24, respectively. his study aimed at building a life quality scale for teachers working in the Jordanian Ministry of Education. This study was conducted in schools affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Education, and the researcher used the descriptive approach in this study, and the scale of the study was built then its validity and reliability were confirmed and applied to the study sample, which involved 1780 teachers who were selected by random cluster method from six directorates of education Distributed in three regions, and the results of the study showed that there are statistically significant differences in the level of life quality attributed to the variable of the region and in favor of the central and northern regions. The research came out with several recommendations, most notably the re- application of the scale to other categories, knowing its validity and stability, and the derivation of its criteria.

Bu bağlamda bu makalede üniversitelere özgügeçerli ve güvenilir bir kalite ölçeği (UnilQual-ÜniversiteYaşamKalitesiÖlçeği)geliştirmek üzere yapılan bir çalışmanın bulguları aktarılmaktadır. Accordingly, quality in higher education has become an important competitive elementand sustaining service quality is now accepted as a sine qua non foruniversities. Yet, since the highereducation sector has very different characteristics than other service sectors,measurement and improvement of service quality is becoming a more complexissue. Higher education quality is a multidimensional phenomenon withinstitutional, physical and psychological components. It is not only measured by the quality ofservices, but also by the added value and transformative impact on thestudents. . In this context, this paper reports a study conducted to developand validate a quality scale (UnilQual) for measuring service quality in highereducation. . The scale was based on the concept of “quality of life” and designedto measure “university life quality of students”. To this end, a 56-item scalewith 7 subscales was developed . in and administered to a sample of 314undergraduate students The mean age of the sample was 19.25 . The results ofthe Exploratory Factor Analysis revealedthat UnilQual can be used as a valid and reliable measurement tool.The Cronbachalpha value was found as .96 for the scale. The correlation values between thesubscales and the total score addressed a positive and significant relationship,as well.

The study sample included (20) students of college of education divided into two groups: experimental and control groups 10 students each of female students of college of education at Al-Baha University. The researcher adopted the following tools: - Life Quality Scale, prepared by ShaimaaAlsaeedAlshehawi 2- Training Program on Social Skills in Improving Life Quality, developed by the researcher. The study reached the following findings: 1- There are statistically significant differences in life quality variable between the scores means of experimental group in the pre-test and post-test on life quality scale for the favor of post-test. 2- There are statistically significant differences between the scores means of experimental group and the control group in the post test on life quality scale for the favor of the experimental group. 3- There are no statistically significant differences between the scores means of control group in the pre-test and post-test on life quality scale

This study focuses on comparing and analyzing the satisfaction of quality of medical care for patients with acute stroke in the Russian Federation (RF) and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to identify major problems and the most successful organizational solutions in the system of medical care for patients with stroke. The analysis of differences was performed by the following parameters: quality of care in hospital assessed by patients; the attitude of the medical and nursing staff and the physician to patients (assessed by patients); timely diagnosis and treatment; the level of staff qualifications assessed by patients; satisfaction with the outcome of treatment; availability and volume of conversations held with the patient about the nature and causes of the disease; test results by the life quality scale EQ-5D.

This research aimed to determine whether the life quality of amputees was a significant predictor of their depression levels and whether there was a significant difference between the life quality levels and depression of amputee athletes and those leading sedentary lifestyles according to their marital status and disabled limbs. The data were collected from 202 amputees including 76 athletes and 126 sedentary. Personal Information Form, a 27-item Short Form Life Quality Scale, and Beck Depression Inventory were used as the data collection tools. The internal consistency coefficient calculated for the Life Quality Scale was 0.90, and it was 0.89 for Beck Depression Inventory in the study. The results of simple linear regression analysis performed for determining the life quality's strength of predicting depression revealed that the life quality scores of amputees were a negative significant predictor of their depression scores. It was determined that married individuals had significantly higher life quality scores and lower depression scores when compared to single individuals. In terms of the disabled limb, the difference between the life quality scores of individuals with arm-leg and foot-leg amputation was found to show a significant difference rather than those with leg amputation. In addition, it was noticed that the depression scores of the individuals with foot and leg amputation were significantly higher than those with arm amputation. Consequently, it was possible to mention that life quality affected depression, and sport was an important instrument for increasing the life quality and decreasing the depression levels of amputees. Appropriate sportive activities should be emphasized to achieve desired life quality levels and relieve depression of disabled people. © 2018 by authors, all rights reserved.

Although there have been a number of psychotherapy trials for chronic psychogenic nonepileptic seizures, evidence-based treatment options are limited. We developed an eclectic group psychotherapy which combines psychoeducation and behavioral and psychoanalytic techniques. Nine patients completed 12 weeks of psychotherapy. Patients were interviewed with SCID-I. They also filled in the following measures at the beginning and end of the therapy: Beck Depression Inventory, Dissociative Experiences Scale, Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Scale, SF-36 Life Quality Scale, and Toronto Alexithymia Scale. Seizure frequency was assessed before and after the therapy and on follow-up visits at the fourth, sixth, ninth, and twelfth months. Aim: Type 1 diabetes which is a chronic metabolic disease can affect the quality of life of a person. The aim of this study is to evaluate the life quality of diabetic children and adolescents who are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus and compare the perceptions of life quality through the life quality scale before and after summer camp. Materials and Method: A scale of life quality was applied to 31 children/adolescents with type 1 Diabetes Mellitus between ages 9-16 years in the Diabetes Summer Camp. Results: The perceived quality of life of children / adolescents with type 1 diabetes were better after diabetes camp (p< 0.05). When the Quality of Life Scale scores compared by gender, it was found that the emotional well-being and self esteem subscale scores and the total scores of boys were statistically significantly higher after diabetes camp. But the Quality of Life Scale scores of girls did not show a significant increase. Conclusion: This study showed that the diabetes camp, which promoted the ability of diabetic children and adolescents to manage their illnesses, changed the perception of quality of life of male diabetic patients in particular. However, repeating similar studies involving a larger number of cases will allow better evaluation of the results of such activities.

Aim. To examine the effects of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) on quality of life in pregnant women. Material and method. Twenty-five pregnant women diagnosed as OCD in two university outpatient clinics were included for the study. Twenty-five pregnant women with no mental disorders and the same sociodemographic properties were taken as the control group. The diagnosis of OCD was confirmed with the DSM-IV Axis-I Disorders Structured Clinic Interview Diagnosis/Clinic Version (SCID-I/CV). In order to measure the severity of OCD Yale-Brown Obsession and Compulsion Scale was performed. Quality of life was evaluated by WHO (World Health Organisation) Life Quality Scale - Short Form (WHOQOL-Brief). Results. The whole subgroup of points of WHOQOL-Brief was significantly lower in OCD patients compared to control group (in all subgroups P0.01). There was a negative correlation between the Y-BOCS obsession and compulsion subpoints and total points with the physical health (P0.05), psychological health (P0.001) and social relationship (P0.01) of WHOQOL-Brief. No significant association was found with enviromental areas. Besides, there was a negative correlation between the duration of OCD and WHOQOL-Brief psychological health subarea (P0.05). Conclusion. OCD negatively effects the quality of life in pregnant women and is correlated with the severity of the disorder.

To investigatetheinfluences of the application of human care theory on the life quality and happiness of cancer patients after they receiveda community nursing care which was implemented by the human care theory. The quality life and the happiness index of 93 patients with cancer living in the six communities in Jillin were assessed, the assessment of the life quality was based on a life quality scale (SF-36) and that of the happiness index was based on Memorial University of Newfoundland Scale of Happiness (MUNSH). The community nurses cared for these patients by applying the theory of human care and the life quality and the happiness index of the patients were observed after the care. Tibetans have enjoyed a reputation for contentment and a jovial disposition. This study examines the extent to which this positive outlook on life persists despite their 25-year stay as refugees in India, and the transferability of this positive outlook to first-generation, Indian-born Tibetans. With this in mind, older Tibetan refugees (N = 45) and younger Tibetan refugees (N = 45) residing in Himachal Pradesh in India were administered the Life Quality Scale (Q.O.L.). As expected, younger Tibetan refugees shared significant characteristics on the Q.O.L. scale with older Tibetans. Similarities and differences in the outlook of the two age groups are examined.

Quality of life in children: a comparative study between urban and rural areas in Northern Chile Background: The quality of life in children is associated with their experiences, family and their socio-cultural environment. Objective: To identify the significant components in assessing quality of life from the children’s perception. Participants and Method: Using a cross-sectional design, the Child Life Quality Scale was applied to a total of 200 children aged 8-12 years, from an urban and a rural area located in northern Chile. Three open questions were presented about experiences of satisfaction, dissatisfaction and desire for change, classifying the answers in six categories. Results: No significant differences in the perception of quality of life in children from urban and rural areas were found, however, the evaluation of the content of the answers allowed us to establish some differences between the two groups. This research was planned as descriptive study for thepurpose of determining the burden load and the life quality of the mother andfathers of the children with cancer diagnosis and hematologic diseases. Methods The research was carried out in the PediatricsHematology and Oncology Polyclinic and Clinics of Gulhane Military Medical Academy,between December 2011–April 2012. The research sample was composed of 101parents of children with cancer diagnosis and hematologic diseases. The questionnaire form that was prepared by theresearcher, “Caregiving Burden Scale” and “Rolls Royce Life Quality Scale” wereapplied to participants. Results It was determined that the score of careburden of the parents who are in 46–55 age group, who have three and morechildren was higher and a statically significant difference was found among them (p According the scores between life quality scale of themother and fathers, it has been found that the life quality of the mothers isaffected by the disease of their children more. It is suggested that the parents shall take part inthe training courses that are given by the nurse about the disease, the nurseis suggested to evaluate the care burden and life quality of parents who havechildren with a chronic disease.

ObjectivesEnd stage renal disease (ESRD) is a chronic disease that shortens the life span of individuals. Renal transplantation is accepted as good choice in the treatment of patients with ESRD. Many physical, psychological and social problems have been observed for many years in receivers after renal transplantation. The problems encountered after renal transplantation may adversely affect the life quality of the individuals. This study is carried out to define the life quality of the receivers after a year of renal transplantation.Methods54 patients that were followed in a transplantation centre of a university hospital between January 2007 and January 2009 were included into the study. The data is obtained through personal data forms and SF-36 life quality scale.ResultsIt was defined meaningful negative relation between the age and life quality of the receivers was found (p< 0.00), as the age increases the life quality of the receivers decreased, the life quality of women receivers and the ones living in large families was found to be lower.ConclusionsThe life quality of the receivers after a year of transplantation was good in low level. It is necessary that the receivers be cared with holistic approach and supported them to have quality life considering life quality of the individuals.
