The residential landscape of western societies in the 20th century was based on a nuclear and monogamous normative representation of the family. This representation contrasts with the representation of the family that some consensually non-monogamous (CNM) parents carry. How did CNM informants combine residence, parenting and multiple relationships within the hetero-mono-normative organizational legacy of society? An extensive set of exploratory and ethnographic data was gathered in francophone countries in Western Europe during 2013–2018. Informants' dwelling configurations were interpreted as the result of their personal life paths interwoven with a web of macrostructural tensions. A comparative approach on residences, combined with life stories gathered within a strategic group of informants, contributed to understanding the various processes leading to specific forms of CNM dwellings with children. The comparison highlights five categories of CNM residential patterns, all resulting from attempts to compromise with the hetero-mono-normative dwelling tradition. The developments of transportation and communication technologies appeared as an important factor in the spatial and temporal organizations of family functions within the CNM configurations observed. These CNM family arrangements also appeared as ephemeral and versatile. These conclusions lead to new avenues of research regarding the social forces contributing to their fragility despite the intent of the actors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Life-planning competence is an integral personality trait that characterizes one’s desire and ability to implement one’s potential, i.e., knowledge, skills, experience, character traits, etc., in order to achieve one’s life objectives. It consists of motivational, cognitive, emotional, volitional, axiological, semantic, operational, reflective, and proactive components. The present research featured the life-planning competence in high school students (n = 200; 2019–2022) of the city of Krasnoyarsk, Russia. The resulting strategies demonstrated a connection with the concept of being-inthe-world by M. Heidegger and L. Binswanger, as well as A. Längle’s concept of fundamental existential motivations. The statistical analysis involved the principal component method with Varimax rotation and Kaiser sampling. The factor analysis revealed eight factors: 1) purposefulness, meaningfulness, and readiness for life planning; 2) cooperation; 3) reflexive activity control; 4) correlation with the world; 5) control of oneself and the situation; 6) self-awareness; 7) dynamic balance; 8) self-development. These factors connected the process of life-planning with the four existential fundamental motivations identified by A. Längle and the forms of being-in-the-world described by M. Heidegger and L. Binswanger. The high school students demonstrated a motivation for physical survival and spiritual overcoming of existence, as well as a desire to enjoy life, experience values, find self-identity, and seek justice. As teenagers, they lacked the fourth existential motivation, i.e., motivation to obtain existential meaning.

The article is devoted to the problems of ideas of the subjects of modern society about the long-term prospects for the development of their life path (the so-called “life trajectories”). Particular attention is paid to methods for formalizing such representations based on the approximation of life trajectories using curves from the family of beta distribution density functions. The parameters of the beta-density function can be used as the basis for the formal typification of subjects within society. Their changes can be used as indicators of structural changes in society. First of all, in terms of shifts in ideas about the «ideal» (reference) configurations of the life path. In part, these conclusions can be incorporated into procedures for identifying generations.

The migration policies of states regulate the stay of foreigners on their territories. They do so through legal measures that can contribute to shaping integration trajectories according to the status they establish. At the same time, the foreigners in question are not passive and can resist in the relationship they build with the States and the legal norms that concern them. Taking the case of Filipino migrant women in Germany as a starting point, the article aims to discuss the relationship between German migration policy, resistance to its legal measures and the resulting integration trajectories that emerge from the interrelation between both elements.

The article examines personal maturity as a complex multicomponent phenomenon that can reach various levels of development. The relevance of the study of personal maturity through significant events of a person’s life path is noted. In order to identify the attitude towards the most significant life events and the specifics of interaction with the life situation, an empirical study was conducted and involved 277 people 25 to 40 years of age that represent the fields of education, medicine, service and trade, and mining industry. The subjects were divided into 2 groups according to their level of personal maturity and infantilism as polar characteristics. Based on the results of the study, the author points out significant differences in the experience and description of life events as well as the definition of significant life situations among subjects with different levels of personal maturity.

Neste artigo analisamos a paisagem religiosa e processos migratórios existentes entre Brasil e Portugal, focando o percurso de vida de três jovens brasileiros religiosos e migrantes que residem na área metropolitana de Lisboa. Partindo de uma perspectiva da microssociologia, da valorização das narrativas e fontes orais primárias, buscou-se uma compreensão analítica que considerou o panorama sócio-histórico de ambos os países, possibilitando assim a delimitação das abordagens teóricas e metodológicas. Observou-se que as problemáticas e motivações migratórias dos jovens sujeitos afastam-se das clássicas explicações de motivações exclusivamente por motivos financeiros. Evidencia-se um contexto religioso que incentiva o processo migratório, através de profecias, sonhos e diversos sinais que conduzem e auxiliam os jovens. Dessa forma, este artigo contribui para a ampliação do debate acerca dos processos migratórios, especificamente para a compreensão da juventude religiosa brasileira migrante que reside na área metropolitana de Lisboa. In this article we analyse the religious landscape and migratory processes that exist between Brazil and Portugal, focusing on the life path of three religious Brazilian young migrants residing in the metropolitan area of Lisbon. Starting from a microsociology perspective, appreciating the narratives and primary oral sources, an analytical comprehension was sought considering the socioeconomic panorama of both countries, enabling the delimitation of theoretical and methodological approaches. It was observed that the problems and migratory motivation of the young subjects deviate from classical explanations associated exclusively with financial reasons. Thus, a religious context was evidenced as an encouragement of the migratory process through prophecies, dreams and diverse signs that lead and help young people. Therefore, this article contributes to the expansion of the debate about migratory processes, specifically to the understanding of the Brazilian religious youth living in the metropolitan area of Lisbon.

The article provides a theoretical psychological analysis of the problem of life crisis of an individual, namely the concepts and manifestations of life crisis. In particular, the essence of the terms «crisis», «crisis of life» in the works of Ukrainian and foreign scientists has been studied. The following types of crises are distinguished: crises of mental development; age crises; crises of a neurotic nature; occupational crises; critical and semantic crises; life crises, crises of personality formation. health crises, terminal crises, crises of meaningful relationships, crises of personal autonomy, crises of self-realization, crises of life mistakes. It is noted that the crisis can be defined as a long-term internal conflict over life in general, its meaning, main goals and ways to achieve them. It is substantiated that different conceptual directions in their unity form a complex, multilevel system, which is a methodological basis for studying such a complex and interesting phenomenon as the life crisis. In the process of studying the problem of life crisis, such concepts as a «personal crisis», «psychological crisis», «psycho-spiritual crisis», «biographical crisis», «crisis of professional development» and others were introduced. It is established that the causes of crisis phenomena are observed in those people who, in the opinion of the environment, are quite prosperous in terms of ordinary ideas about happiness. It is also noted that the life crisis has a number of features that distinguish it from other emotionally complex life situations. It is emphasized that the life crisis can be of different depth and have several stages or levels, the passage of which has its own specific features. However, it is noted that the crisis is always accompanied by stress, in some way contains frustration and always requires the activation of value and meaning. It is stated that in the framework of crisis psychology two more features of the crisis of life as an event in the life of an individual should be noted.

In Portuguese society, some Cigano/Roma women, during their life paths, distance themselves from the Cigano cultural tradition, particularly in regard to marriage, schooling, employment and social life. On the one hand, there is a feeling of attachment to traditional values as family pressure to marry or in relation to gender differentiation; on the other hand, these women express a desire for empowerment autonomy and emancipation in order to draw up their own trajectories and life projects. The results obtained with 21 in-depth interviews, 10 women and 11 men, indicate that Cigano women face greater difficulties with regard to early and inbred marriage and are more prone to be victims of family and domestic violence, but they are also the main drivers of change and social transformation of Cigano/Roma families. A summary of the diffusion and development of time-geography in East Asia, specifically in Japan and China, is presented in this article. Previous studies have provided reviews of time-geographic research and spacetime behaviour research in both countries. Few studies, however, have told the story about how and why timegeography diffused into East Asia. By showing and analysing the academic life paths of Yoshio Arai and Yanwei Chai, we conclude that the development of time-geography in Japan and China goes hand in hand with their academic progress. Moreover, the interactions within their academic life paths mark some key events that promoted time-geography significantly. The similarities and differences between their academic life paths are also analysed in this article. Both scholars shared some common research topics, such as childcare problems, urban spatial structures and socioeconomic transformations, which were also the most prominent characteristics of time-geography in East Asia. In addition, the socioeconomic backgrounds of their academic life paths are also quite similar, which reflects the close relationship between time-geography and societal needs. Finally, this article discusses the effectiveness and disadvantages of the academic life path method, as the method has proven to be an important tool in analysing the role that key scholars play in promoting a certain discipline. In conclusion, the diffusion and development of time-geography in East Asia can hardly have happened without both individual scholars’ hard work and the exchange and cooperation activities between scholars.

This article discusses theoretical approaches for understanding metaphorically expressed life paths social representations. The results of a longitudinal empirical study of life paths metaphorically expressed social representations of adult group are presenter. In the first half of study, 267 respondents took part, in the second half of study – 37 respondents. During the first stage of this study, the categories of analysis of metaphorical representations were selected on the basis of the essay material of 267 respondents. At the second stage of the study, data of 37 respondents analyzed. Participants with an interval of six months described in the form of metaphors their life path in a normal situation and in a situation of self-isolation. During this study content-analysis of the words that make up the metaphoric representations of life path and life path in self-isolation was performed. Categories of metaphoric representations were picked out, and analysis was performed with the use of these categories. We created next two nuclear-peripheral structures of social representations, expressed metaphorically: life path and life path in self-isolation (in the adult group). Comparative analysis of representations about life path in everyday life and during the period of self-isolation performed, dynamic changes in the structural elements of social representations identified.

The goal of the present empirical study was to describe the lifestyle of people who have to live in harsh climatic and geographical conditions. The research featured the people of Kamchatka and involved several stages. During the first stage, the author obtained descriptive characteristics of the environment in question based on self-reports of respondents. The interviewed included those satisfied with their living conditions and those willing to leave Kamchatka. The lifestyle features were grouped into the differential assessment of environmental characteristics and the factors that directly affect the construction of one's individual lifestyle, e.g. climate, or the so-called geophysical factor, society, household, economy, etc. During the second stage, the author identified the nuclear and peripheral lifestyle structures typical of individuals that have to live in harsh conditions. The nuclear lifestyle structure consisted of characteristics that reflected activity, emotional assessment, safety, meanings, and truth. These features were associated with the direct implementation of specific goals, motives, and needs. The content and structural components of one's lifestyle appeared to be affected by one's chronotopes, or space-time structures. A time construct proved to build itself into one’s individual lifestyle, which led to a special type of constructing relationships heading from the past to the present and the future. This specific feature also determined the assessment of one’s life activities.

The article introduces data from the study of the severity of social anxiety caused by the expectation of retirement and subsequent retirement; highlights signs of retirement stress: acceleration of biological aging, the discrepancy of psychological and biological age. It also regards individual-personal factors of biopsychological aging. The article presents the results of an empirical study of the biopsychological age of people – Russians by origin – pursuing intel-lectual professions and living in the European Union and in Russia. All the participants were continuing their research activity and were aged from 32 to 70 years, both living in Russia (n=101, women, 62), and having migrated to the European Union countries (n=101, women 56). Methods of assessing biological age with regard on health indicators, subjective psychological age, as well as the questionnaire of life path were applied. The results showed that in Russian sample the signs of retirement stress are more pronounced: the subjects have an acceleration of biological aging at the age of 51–65 years. The personal strategies for preventing retirement stress and maintaining relative juvenility, typical for the intellectual occupation professionals, were singled out: for men — democratic working conditions, positive attitude, collaborative non-ambitious non-aggressive behaviour; and for women — wellbeing, respectful partnership in the couple, friendly working conditions; multiple changes of place of residence. However, the difference in relative juvenility strategy for residents in Russian and EU was also observed.

The article discusses the features of the bilingualism of an eminent sociologist of the twentieth century Pitirim Sorokin in the American period of his life. The purpose of the study is to identify and explain the linguistic features of his scientific thinking in connection with the development of his scientific worldview. The study is based on the materials of Pitirim A. Sorokin Collection at the University of Saskatchewan (Canada). Archival manuscripts and research notes allow us to trace the process of changing the language and switching codes in the professional activities of Pitirim Sorokin after moving to the United States of America. It has been established that the use of a mixed metalanguage by Pitirim Sorokin can be considered as additional evidence of the continued connection with the Russian period of his life and scientific activity. Russian remained for him a tool of scientific thinking, planning and management.

Wesołowska Elżbieta, The Symbolic Topography of Oedipus' Life. Some Remarks (Symboliczna topografia życia Edypa. Kilka uwag). The author of Oedipus Rex manages to reconstruct the hero's life path against the background of the map of Greece of his day. In doing so he constructs the imaginary of the protagonist's identity, one that is inextricably linked to his mental blindness as opposed to the tragic, self-inflicted blindness meted out to himself as a punishment for his crimes. Objective: to analyse the trajectory of individuals suffering from addiction, seeking to understand how they perceive their path in the world of drugs, with a core focus on the perceptions, representations and meanings they assign to drugs and their life path before, during and after their experiences with addiction. Method: qualitative research based on Grounded Theory. Eight subjects admitted to Community Therapy for substance addiction in Portugal were interviewed from September to December 2016. Results obtained: three main category groups: "Pattern consumption evolution", "Behavioural trajectory while consuming", and "Identity Transformations"; an intermediate category "Alteration of moral and social values"; and a core category "Addictive Identity". Conclusion: the subjects understand the addict's trajectory as being a set of progressive changes in one's identity, strongly associated with alterations in moral and social values. Thomas Heuyer,1 Sonia Pavan,2 Christine Vicard1 1Maladies Rares Info Services, 2SPScienceCom, Paris, France Purpose: A barometer has been set up to provide better knowledge about the daily situation of French rare disease (RD) patients, their families and relatives, in order to contribute to the elaboration of improvement measures. This report focuses on the care and life path of RD patients.Patients and methods: A preliminary survey was carried out with three patients, five parents and three RD experts to identify the main hurdles and disruptions in the life path of RD patients. It was used to design a larger survey comprising 60 questions as well as open fields allowing free expression. Respondents (448) comprised patients, parents of RD children and close relatives of patients. The Percentage of Maximum Deviation, Yates’ correction for continuity and Fisher’s test were employed to compare the responses between groups.Results: Large disparities in the delays to obtain a diagnosis were identified (20 years), and longer delays were associated with negative perception of care conditions. While good interactions with education teams were reported (59% of respondents), the professional situation of both patients and parents was strongly and negatively impacted by the disease (51% did not work or stopped working). Three hundred respondents expressed various needs and psychological and personal issues were reported by 62% and 75% of respondents, respectively. Introduction: the role of life path research is connected with the problem of inculturation, ensuring the transfer of spiritual values and traditions from generation to generation, ensuring the development of society. In contrast to the period of youth, late adulthood is rarely the subject of scientific research on the problem of life course. But the study of the specifics of this age is important for determining the mechanisms of personality formation, analysis of the possibilities of its potential development, clarification of sources and mechanisms of self-development. The growth of scientific interest in the semantic aspects of older people's ideas is useful for the prevention of ageism. Materials and methods: the purpose of the first stage of the study is to determine the content of the life path in the representation of women in late adulthood. We used the semi-structured interview method. The data is processed using the categorization method. 15 women from 55 to 90 years took part in it. The purpose of the second stage of the study was to identify gender and age-specific perception of life in late adulthood. We used the method of "life Line"and the method of MLO. The data obtained were processed using a single-factor analysis of variance and correlation. The respondents were 70 women and 30 men aged 55 to 90 years. Results: we have established that ideas about the way of life have event and semantic content. The past is the most intense period. The time perspective of the future is narrowed at this age. The period of the present is filled with existential themes. Gender perceptions on the lives of identified age-related problems. We have revealed a tendency to increase the number of negative events with age. We found that with age, older people are more likely to focus on childhood memories and the current state. Discussion and Conclusions: in part, the results are consistent with the theoretical facts about the period of late adulthood in personality psychology. They form the basis for psychological support of elderly women, which will be based on the principles of optimization of psychological wellbeing, non-traumatic understanding of life events, strengthening intergenerational solidarity.

The life path of the outstanding scientist in the field of chemistry, academician V. M. Ipatyev, is analyzed. The outstanding organizational skills of a scientist during the First World War in the creation of the military-chemical industry are highlighted. It was shown that in a very short time new chemical plants of different profiles were created, production and increase of release of explosives, fighting poisonous substances, sulfuric and nitric acids, etc. were established. It was found out that the scientist has the primacy in the world of applying high pressure (up to 1000 atm) for catalytic processes. It was shown that he was the first chemist to polymerize ethylene, created high-octane grades of aviation gasoline, and developed new methods of oil refining. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Alto Marija Bitenc Samec is one of the most prominent concert performers in the second half of the 20th century. Besides her solo career she was also very active as a chamber musician. In 80s, Marija Bitenc Samec had been also actively working as a sociocultural worker. The concert repertoire of Marija Bitenc Samec covered baroque and operatic arias, cantatas, partisan songs and songs of Slovenian and foreign composers. As a respected artist she performed lieds of dr. Danilo Švara, Lucijan Marija Škerjanc, Alojz Srebotnjak, Zvonimir Ciglič and others for the very first time. She often recreated lieder of Slovenian composers outside of our borders and so she helped carried the mother language in various European countries. Her concerts took place from former Yugoslavia through Austria, Italy to Belgium. She performed, besides previously mentioned countries, also on radio and television in West Germany, France and in Great Britain. In 1990, she was the initiator and organizer of setting a monument of her professor Julij Betetto in front of Ljubljana Opera House. In this article we wish to complete, upgrade, consolidate and evaluate the life and work of Marija Bitenc Samec, as well as her contribution to the history of Slovenian musical performances, especially in the field of concert performances. Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar os processos de transição para a fase adulta do ciclo de vida a partir de entrevistas realizadas com jovens, de ambos os sexos, moradores no Rio de Janeiro. No universo pesquisado, percebe-se que a passagem para a vida adulta está entrelaçada ao projeto de mobilidade social que é apreendido através da história da família e do próprio indivíduo entrevistado. A liberdade, a valorização da intimidade individual, o acesso à educação, a possibilidade de independência financeira através do trabalho e a distinção em relação à geração dos pais são elementos apresentados como fundamentais nesse movimento de transições de classe e de níveis de maturidade.The objective of this article is to analyze the transition processes to the adult phase of the life cycle through interviews that were held with youngsters, from both genders and that live in Rio de Janeiro. In the researched cosmos it's possible to notice that the transition to adult life is intertwined to the social mobility project which understood through the family history and the interviewee. Freedom, the value of individual privacy, access to education, the possibility of financial independence through work and the distinction in relation to the parents´ generation, are elements which are presented as fundamental in this class transition and levels of maturity movement.

Both original (written in Persian) text and an old Turkmen translation of Mevlana Mohammed Celaleddin Rumi`s (1207-1273) mesnevi are housed at the National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. Famous Turkmen sheikh and poet Niyazkulu Niyazi, who bore different names, (date of death 1236 hijra, 1280-1281 A.D.) translated mesnevi that was made up of 208 lines from Persian into Turkmen in Bukhara. An incisive literary critic and writer Abdulhekim Kulmuhammedov was the first scholar who studied carefully the Turkmen translation of mesnevi in the late of 1920`s, Lebap province. We present readers the transfer of an old Turkmen translation of mesnevi from Arabian alphabet to Latin alphabet as an additional text.
