Pioneeringly, we point out a general principle for selecting an appropriate anti-solvent. Salting-out crystallization induced by a green anti-solvent (acetic acid, HAc) has been used for the first time to fabricate Sn-based PVSCs with an efficiency of 12.78%.

TERT reactivation occurs frequently in human malignancies. While BRAF activating mutation widely existed in cancers at various stages, TERT reactivation mainly occurs in advanced tumors. However,in vivoevidence for TERT role in cancer progression and the underlying mechanism is currently lacking. In this study, we induced TERT and/or BRAF V600E expression in mouse thyroid epithelium. TERT overexpression alone had no evident effect on tumor initiation. BRAFVEexpression itself induced mediocre papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). Notably, the co-expression of BRAFVEand TERT resulted in aggressive poorly differentiated thyroid carcinoma (PDTC). Spatial transcriptome revealed that tumors from co-mutant mice were highly heterogeneous and dedifferentiation process significantly correlated with ribosomal pathways. Mechanistically, TERT boosted ribosomal RNA expression and protein synthesis. CX-5461, a rRNA transcription inhibitor, effectively blocked proliferation and induced redifferentiation. Thus, TERT promotes thyroid cancer progression by inducing dedifferentiation, and ribosome biogenesis inhibition represents a potential treatment strategy for TERT-reactivated cancers.Highlights➢TERT accelerated thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and metastasisin vivo➢TERT regulated rRNA metabolism and MTORC1/ S6K/RPS6 activities➢CX-5461 inhibited the progression of TERT-reactivated melanoma and thyroid cancer➢Inhibition of rRNA induced redifferentiation of advanced thyroid cancer with TERT activation

Defect passivation is a key strategy to prepare high-performance perovskite solar cells (PVSCs). Even though abundant passivation molecules have been applied, the absence of detailed researches with regard to different functional groups in polymer additives may inevitably impede the establishment of passivation molecules selection rules. In this work, three passivation molecules including poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), polymethyl acrylate (PMA), and poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) are employed to systematically analyze the passivation effect from hydroxyl, carbonyl, and carboxyl groups. In general, PVA (-OH) can form hydrogen bonds with perovskite and PMA (-C═O) can complex with uncoordinated Pb2+. Specifically, PAA (-COOH) can interact selectively with MA+ and I- ions via hydrogen bonding and complex with uncoordinated Pb2+ to passivate defects more effectively. Hence, the PAA-incorporated PVSCs based on MAPbI3 achieve the champion power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 20.29% with open-circuit voltage up to 1.13 V. In addition, PAA cross-linking perovskite grains can relieve mechanical stress, as well as occupy the major channels to suppress ion migration and water/oxygen erosion. The corresponding unencapsulated devices demonstrate a superior light soaking stability, retaining more than 80% of the original PCE under one sun illumination for 1000 h.

The regulated crystallization of perovskite and highly repeatable preparation are decisive challenges for large-scale flexible perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Herein, we synthesize an oil-soluble poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (Oil-PEDOT) as a hole transport layer (HTL). The non-wetting Oil-PEDOT HTL can promote the quality of large-area flexible perovskite films because of its optimized crystallinity and printability. The Oil-PEDOT layer also delivers desirable conductivity and charge transport without a complex doping. Consequently, the flexible PSCs with Oil-PEDOT HTL achieve an efficiency of 19.51% and 16.70% based on 1.05 and 22.50 cm2, respectively. Moreover, these large-scale flexible PSCs demonstrate remarkable mechanical robustness, and the efficiency exhibits 93% retention after 7,000 bending cycles. These results show that the Oil-PEDOT is a potentially efficient HTL for fabricating efficient large-scale flexible PSCs.

The power conversion effciency (PCE) of flexible perovskite solar cells (PSCs) has increased rapidly, while the mechanical flexibility and environmental stability are still far from satisfactory. Previous studies show the environmental degradation and ductile cracks of perovskite films usually begin at the grain boundaries (GBs). Herein, sulfonated graphene oxide (s-GO) is employed to construct a cementitious GBs by interacting with the [PbI6]4– at GBs. The resultant s-GO-[PbI6]4– complex can effectively passivate the defects of vacant iodine, and the devices with s-GO exhibit remarkable waterproofness and flexibility due to the tough and water-insoluble GBs. The champion PCE of 20.56% (1.01 cm2) in a device treated with s-GO is achieved. This device retains 90% of its original PCE after 180 d stored in the ambient condition, as well as over 80% retention after 10,000 bending cycles at a curvature radius of 3 mm.

The most reported planar supercapacitors (PSCs) still suffer from inferior areal/volumetric energy density, and inefficient patterning techniques are unsatisfactory in meeting the requirements of wearable electronic devices. Manganese oxides have attracted significant attention as promising electrode materials for high performing printable PSCs. Nonetheless, their intrinsically inferior electrical conductivity and large volume change severely restrict their overall capacitive properties. Herein, the porous carbon-coated hexagonal Mn3O4 (p-Mn3O4@C) nanosheets as an electrode are first fabricated, and are found to possess an expanded operating voltage of 0–1.3 V (vs. Ag/AgCl), prominently boosted specific capacitance (386 F g−1 at 1 A g−1), and superior cycle performance (90.4% retention after 10 000 cycles). More importantly, the resultant fully screen-printed PSC operates stably at 1.3 V and exhibits remarkable electrochemical performance with an extraordinary volumetric energy density (14.1 mW h cm−3) and power density (2.6 W cm−3) as well as outstanding mechanical flexibility and cycling stability, outperforming the most PSCs reported previously. Moreover, the self-powered system based on this printable PSC and commercial solar cell reveals excellent integration performance and good self-powering capabilities. Collectively, the efficient production of printable pseudocapacitive PSCs with remarkable performance opens a new avenue for enormous potential applications in miniature and flexible electronics.

Although tremendous progress has been made in exploring high-energy-density aqueous Zn-ion capacitors (ZICs) recently, their rate capability and power density still remain great challenges. Herein, diblock copolymer micelle derived nitrogen-doped hierarchically porous carbon spheres (N-HPCSs) were fabricated for high energy aqueous ZICs with superior rate performance and power density. It was found that the reasonable pore size distribution and nitrogen-doping of N-HPCSs are favorable for mass transportation by smoothing and reducing the diffusion routes, leading to efficient and fast Zn-ion storage. Consequently, the as-assembled aqueous N-HPCS ZIC yielded a high capacity of 180.4 mA h g−1 at 0.5 A g−1, superior rate performance of maintaining 58.3 mA h g−1 even at an extremely high current density of 100 A g−1, a high energy density of 144.3 W h kg−1, and an excellent power density of 79.9 kW kg−1 with an ultrafast charge time of 2.1 seconds. Moreover, the aqueous N-HPCS ZIC displayed an exciting capacity retention of 98.2% after an ultra-long stability test of 50 000 cycles. This work proposes an efficient strategy to design high-performance electrodes for ZICs with ultrafast Zn-ion storage.

Planar asymmetric supercapacitors (ASCs) hold great promise as micropower units for wearable and flexible electronics, but their inadequate energy density arising from low capacitance and narrow operating voltage remain serious challenges. Two-dimensional (2D) cation-intercalated manganese oxides possess distinctive electronic properties and outstanding capacitive performance as well as exhibit great potential in planar SCs. Herein, Na+ intercalated manganese oxide (Na0.55Mn2O4·1.5H2O) nanosheets are first reported as a cathode in planar ASCs, and exhibit an expanded working voltage of 0 to 1.2 V (vs. Ag/AgCl). Profiting from the complementary voltage windows and matchable specific capacities of the Na0.55Mn2O4·1.5H2O cathode and porous vanadium nitride/reduced graphene oxide (VN/rGO) anode, the as-assembled planar ASCs operate stably at 2.2 V and display a competitive volumetric energy density of 27.3 mW h cm−3, which are superior to state-of-the-art reported planar SCs and commercially available energy storage devices. Furthermore, they reveal long-term cycling stability (90.5% retention after 10 000 cycles) and outstanding mechanical flexibility. Notably, the planar ASCs demonstrate remarkably modular integration and can be easily integrated with commercial solar cells for efficient photorechargeable systems. Collectively, the production of planar ASCs with high-voltage and high-energy opens a new route for tremendous potential applications in domestic appliances and smart wearable microelectronics.

The inevitable interfacial defects in the under layer of perovskite films still hinder the power conversion efficiency (PCE) and stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), especially of large-area flexible devices up-scaled by roll-to-roll (R2R) technology. Herein, we demonstrate an in situ bifacial passivation strategy via a simple hydroiodic acid (HI) soaking of NiOx-based hole transport layer during R2R printing. Concretely, the trivalent nickel compound on the film surface is reduced to nickel iodide (NiI2) by a HI redox reaction, thereby optimizing the interface contact and ameliorating the work function. Meanwhile, NiI2 coordinates with lead atoms in the perovskite to form a Pb–I bond, which induces the orderly growth of the perovskite lattice and enhances the quality of the crystalline film. Consequently, the PCE of the optimized flexible devices reaches up to 19.04% (1 cm2) and 16.15% (15 cm2). Moreover, the stability and mechanical property of these devices are also improved. This work provides a deep understanding of the NiOx/perovskite interface and an approach for printable interface optimization.

A washable perovskite solar cell with high efficiency (over 11%) and outstanding crumpling durability (maintaining 81.2% after 100 cycles crumpling) is demonstrated herein by combining the flexible self-encapsulation method with a waterproof glue coated substrate.

The existing conformation of the active layer is defective for employment of semitransparent organic solar cells (ST-OSCs) in solar windows. Herein, scalable solar windows are successfully printed by introducing a pseudo-planar heterojunction (PPHJ) structure. The PPHJ structure can effectively improve the average visible transmittance (AVT) value while boosting the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of semitransparent devices due to the reduced optical loss. The universality of the PPHJ structure in the preparation of ST-OSCs is proved. Furthermore, an inset of a superhydrophobic patterned soft insertion layer (PSIL) in the encapsulated window improves the waterproof performance without losing transparency. Accordingly, the semitransparent devices based on the 2,2'-((2Z,2'Z)-((12,13-bis(2-ethylhexyl)-3,9-diundecyl-12,13-dihydro-[1,2,5]thiadiazolo[3,4-e]thieno[2″,3″:4',5']thieno[2',3':4,5]pyrrolo[3,2-g]thieno[2',3':4,5]thieno[3,2-b]indole-2,10-diyl)bis(methanylylidene))bis(5,6-difluoro-3-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-indene-2,1-diylidene))dimalononitrile (Y6) system afford a maximal efficiency of 14.62%, with a considerable AVT of 20.42%, and the resultant solar windows achieve a stabilized efficiency of 13.34% with excellent waterproof performance. Moreover, the PCE of the unilateral broken solar windows retains 70.6% of the initial efficiency after being placed under simulated rainfall conditions for 1200 h at room temperature.

Transition-metal phosphates/phosphides possess promising theoretical electrochemical characteristics and exhibit great potential in advanced supercapacitors. Unfortunately, limited by the processing techniques and overall structure, their specific capacity and rate performance are still unsatisfactory. Herein, we report the fabrication of transition-metal phosphate electrodes with an ultrathin sheetlike array structure by one-step electrodeposition at room temperature. As a proof-of-concept, a transition-metal phosphate member of NiCo(HPO4)2·3H2O with an ultrathin nanosheet structure (thickness ∼2.3 nm) was synthesized and investigated. The as-prepared NiCo(HPO4)2·3H2O electrode showcases an ultrahigh specific capacity of 1768.5 C g-1 at 2 A g-1 (the highest value for transition-metal phosphates/phosphides reported to date), superb rate performance of 1144.8 C g-1 at 100 A g-1, and excellent electrochemical stability. Moreover, the transition-metal phosphate nanosheet array can be uniformly deposited on various conductive substrates, demonstrating the generality of our strategy. Therefore, this simple electrodeposition strategy provides an opportunity to fabricate ultrathin transition-metal phosphate nanosheet materials that can be used for energy storage/conversion, electrocatalysis, and other electrochemical energy-related devices.

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are a promising photovoltaic technology for stretchable applications because of their flexible, light-weight, and low-cost characteristics. However, the fragility of crystals and poor crystallinity of perovskite on stretchable substrates results in performance loss. In fact, grain boundary defects are the "Achilles' heel" of optoelectronic and mechanical stability. We incorporate a self-healing polyurethane (s-PU) with dynamic oxime-carbamate bonds as a scaffold into the perovskite films, which simultaneously enhances crystallinity and passivates the grain boundary of the perovskite films. The stretchable PSCs with s-PU deliver a stabilized efficiency of 19.15 % with negligible hysteresis, which is comparable to the performance on rigid substrates. The PSCs can maintain over 90 % of their initial efficiency after 3000 hours in air because of their self-encapsulating structure. Importantly, the self-healing function of the s-PU scaffold was verified in situ. The s-PU can release mechanical stress and repair cracks at the grain boundary on multiple levels. The devices recover 88 % of their original efficiency after 1000 cycles at 20 % stretch. We believe that this ingenious growth strategy for crystalline semiconductors will facilitate development of flexible and stretchable electronics.

Transition metal sulfides (TMS) are a promising pseudocapacitive electrode materials for supercapacitors as their high theoretical capacitance and electrochemical activity. However, its extensive application is limited due to relative unfavorable nanostructure and low surface reactivity. Herein, a hierarchical core-branch electrode material composed of Zn substituted nickel cobalt sulfides nanosheets branched on the NiCo2S4 nanotube arrays combining with conductive carbon cloth (denoted as CC/NiCo2S4@Zn–Ni–Co–S NSAs) is successfully fabricated as excellent cathode for asymmetric supercapacitors. Remarkably, the integration of componental and structural advantages endows the as-prepared CC/NiCo2S4@Zn–Ni–Co–S electrode with better electrochemical performance including ultrahigh specific capacitance (1201 C g−1/2668 F g−1 at 1 A g−1), excellent rate capability (704 C g−1/1564 F g−1 at 50 A g−1) and remarkable cycling stability. More importantly, the assembled CC/NiCo2S4@Zn–Ni–Co–S//activated carbon asymmetric supercapacitor operates in a high voltage window of 1.7 V with a superior energy density of 60.2 W h kg−1 at power density of 849.9 W kg−1 and long-term cycling stability with 91.2% retention after 10 000 cycles. This strategy provides a facile, cost-effective solution to the rational fabricate high performance electrode materials for energy storage devices.

Two-dimensional/three-dimensional (2D/3D) mixed perovskites combine the advantages containing superior stability of 2D perovskite and excellent efficiency of 3D perovskite by introducing organic spacer cations. However, the effects from the molecular configuration of diammonium spacer cations on 2D/3D perovskite properties are still unclear. Here, we firstly investigated systematically the mechansim of molecular configuration-induced regulation of crystallization kinetic and carrier dynamics by employing various diammonium molecules to construct Dion-Jacobson (DJ)-type 2D/3D perovskites to further facilitating the photovoltaic performance. The minimum average Pb-I-Pb angle leads to the smallest octahedral tilting of [PbX6]4- lattice in optimal diammonium molecule-incorporated DJ-type 2D/3D perovskite, which enables suitable binding energy and hydrogen-bonding between spacer cations and inorganic [PbX6]4- cages, thus contributing to the formation of high-quality perovskite film with vertical crystal orientation, mitigatory lattice distortion and efficient carrier transportation. As a consequence, a dramatically improved device efficiency of 22.68% is achieved with excellent mositure stability.

The conventional bulk heterojunction (BHJ) structure is widely used for fabricating high-performance organic solar cells (OSCs) due to the nanometer-scale phase separation of the donor/acceptor component. However, the elaborate control of the BHJ morphology is difficult to carry out because the morphology evolution is such a complicated process. The compatibility requirement of materials in the same solvent restricts the structural diversity of the molecules to some extent. Meanwhile, the nanoscopic interpenetrating donor/acceptor domains reduce their crystallinity. The bilayer planar heterojunction (PHJ), by contrast, possesses complementary advantages that can make it an alternative candidate to achieve device fabrication and produce different vertical stratification in heterojunction films. However, the flat contact area limits the charge separation and transmission efficiency. The sequential solution processed approach was used to facilitate material diffusion in layers. Also, solvent additives were employed to further enhance the diffusion and thus the device performance. Nevertheless, the morphology of the formed pseudo-bilayer planar heterojunction (PPHJ) has not been fully revealed yet. Here, we carefully study the morphology of the nonfullerene-based PPHJ device in three dimensions. High hole mobility of 2.09 × 10-4 cm2 V-1 s-1 and electron mobility of 7.91 × 10-5 cm2 V-1 s-1 were obtained in the solution-processed PPHJ device. Meanwhile, a distinct phase separation size with a vertical rearrangement of donor and acceptor was observed, which enable the pseudo-bilayer devices to be equipped with a comparable spectral response to the BHJ devices. We demonstrate that a unique device architecture (ITO/ZnO/PBDB-T/ITIC/MoO3/Ag) with a power conversion efficiency of 7% can be obtained from a larger molecular weight of PBDB-T without using extra additives. The solution-processed PPHJ films have much in common with the BHJ films. The results proposed that with appropriate molecular design and vertical phase separation optimization, the performance of the solution-processed PPHJ-based OSCs can be further improved.

For hundred years, researchers have applied themselves to maintain people's white smiles. However, there are many reasons for teeth discoloration, such as personal habits, dental problems or exposure to other substances. Nowadays, bleaching process is the mainly used tooth whitening technology. Owning to the whitening effect of the used oxidant, this process can change the color formation of the teeth surface. Nevertheless, most of the bleaching products are peroxides, which will cause a variety of diseases and discomfort in the mouth. Herein, in this work, it was found that the phthalimide peroxy caproic acid (PAP) could be selected as the effective ingredient of polymer composite gel with non-hydrogenperoxide. Moreover, by comparing the new whitening gels with hydrogen peroxide (HP, the traditional whitening ingredients) gels, the whitening effect of polymer composite gels with 5% PAP were equivalent to the gels with 3% HP, and the composite gels with 12% PAP were also equally to the gels with 8% HP. More importantly, it was proved that PAP tooth whitening gel was much safer and more reliable than HP based products. It indicated that PAP based tooth whitening product can replace low-concentration peroxide teeth whitening gel in the home-market.

Nickel cobalt sulfide (CoNi2S4)-based materials have attracted extensive attention as electrodes which arise from their high theoretical capacitance, but their wide application is limited by relatively low electrical conductivity and electrochemical stability. Herein, the metal-organic framework (MOF) derived carbon nanowall arrays (CNWAs) are successfully fabricated on carbon cloth (CC) as secondary substrate, which provides more sites for electrodeposition of CoNi2S4. Furthermore, the integration of Ni layer to bridge CoNi2S4 and CNWAs, which is favorable for fast charge transfer, as well as improved conductivity. Thus, the CC/CNWAs@Ni@CoNi2S4 electrode exhibits a remarkable specific capacitance (3163 F g−1/2825 F g−1 at 1 A g−1/5 mV s−1) and rate capability (1503 F g−1/1500 F g−1 at 40 A g−1/50 mV s−1), outperforming others CoNi2S4-based electrodes reported previously. The as-prepared CC/CNWAs@Ni@CoNi2S4//commercial activated carbon asymmetric supercapacitor demonstrates superior electrochemical performance with maximum energy density of 53.8 W h kg−1 at a power density of 801 W kg−1 and long-term cycling stability with 90.1% retention after 10 000 cycles. These remarkable supercapacitive performances are attributed to the rationally hierarchical architecture, high utilization ratio of active materials and aligned ion diffusion channels of the CC/CNWAs@Ni@CoNi2S4 electrode.

The low potential window and specific capacitances of aqueous asymmetric supercapacitors (ASCs) seriously restrict further improvement in energy density. Herein, a novel hierarchical nanowall structured carbon coated Fe3O4 nanorod growth on carbon cloth (CC/CW/Fe3O4@C) was fabricated as the anode. Benefitting from the ultrathin carbon protection layer and uniquely hierarchical structure, the CC/CW/Fe3O4@C anode exhibits an extended operating voltage from −1.3 to 0 V (vs. Ag/AgCl), significantly enhanced specific capacitance (463 F g−1 at 1 A g−1), remarkable rate capability (309 F g−1 at 50 A g−1) and superior cycle performance. To complement the wide potential anode, MnO2 nanowire arrays were similarly prepared as the cathode (CC/CW/MnO2) with outstanding capacitive performance. Remarkably, the assembled aqueous CC/CW/Fe3O4@C//CC/CW/MnO2 ASCs operate in a stable and wide potential window of 2.6 V with an ultrahigh energy density of 91.1 W h kg−1 along with extraordinary rate capability and cycle performance (92.8% retention after 10 000 cycles), surpassing most of the previously reported ASCs. This work provides a novel avenue to design and explore wide-voltage and high-capacity aqueous ASCs with further enhanced energy density.

Tin-based perovskite solar cells (PVSCs) are regarded as the most promising alternative among lead-free PVSCs. However, the rapid crystallization for tin-based perovskite tends to cause inferior film morphology and abundant defect states, which make poor photovoltaic performance. Here, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide (BMIBr) ionic liquids (ILs) with strong polarity and a low melting point are first employed to produce the Ostwald ripening effect and obtain high-quality tin-based perovskite films with a large grain size. Meanwhile, the non-radiative recombination ascribed from defect states can also be effectively reduced for BMIBr-treated perovskite films. Consequently, a photoelectric conversion efficiency (PCE) of 10.09% for inverted tin-based PVSCs is attained by the Ostwald ripening effect. Moreover, the unencapsulated devices with BMIBr retain near 85% of the original PCE in a N2 glovebox beyond 1200 h and about 40% of the original PCE after exposure to air for 48 h.
