The tea pest, Basilepta melanopus Lefèvre 1893 (Chrysomelidae), belongs to the subfamily Eumolpinae. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of B. melanopus from southern China was sequenced using the next-generation sequencing technique, assembled, and annotated using bioinformatics tools. The complete mitochondrial genome was 15,905 bp in length. The overall GC content was 22.51%, in which the percentages for the bases A, T, C, and G were 41.23%, 36.26%, 8.92%, and 13.59%, respectively. Thirty-seven genes were predicted, including 13 protein-coding, 22 transfer RNA, and two ribosomal RNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis based on the complete mitochondrial genome sequences of 18 Chrysomelidae taxa revealed that B. melanopus was closely related to Basilepta fulvipes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Due to the complexity of the problem in the actual group management decision, the ambiguity of the information of all parties and the uncertainty of the decision environment, it is often difficult for decision-makers to describe the decision information by quantitative methods, but to give uncertain linguistic variables. Based on the analysis of previous research results, this paper proposes a group management decision-making aggregation model based on relative entropy and norm operator. First, the model uses the operation of T -norm and new T -norm operator to make the fuzzy set satisfy the ranking rate and contradiction rate. Then, based on the reliability of relative entropy, the attribute weights of different expert decisions are obtained, and the optimal assembly model of the corresponding group decision is established, respectively. The optimal solution and decision algorithm are given for each optimization model. The last example of the algorithm proves the validity and feasibility of the model, and can effectively avoid the distortion and distortion in the process of group management decision preference aggregation. ABSTRACT Tetrastichus howardi (Olliff) (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), a pupal parasitoid of a great number of Lepidoptera pests, has a great potential for biological control. To investigate the olfactory system of this parasitoid, we examined the morphology and ultrastructure of the antennal sensilla of both male and female T. howardi using scanning and transmission electron microscopic techniques. Antennae of male and female T. howardi were geniculate in shape, which consisted of scape, pedicel and flagellum with 5 and 4 flagellomeres, respectively. The sexual differences were recorded in the types, structure, distribution and abundance of antennal sensilla of T. howardi. Fourteen morphologically distinct types of antennal sensilla were found on the female antennae, while seventeen on the male antennae. They were: multiporous plate sensilla (MPS1-4), chaetica sensilla (CH1-3), multiporous trichodea sensilla (MTS), aporous trichodea sensilla (ATS1-5), multiporous grooved peg sensilla (MGPS), coeloconic sensilla (COS), campaniform sensilla (CAS), terminal finger-like hairy sensilla (TFI), cuticular pore (CP), and ventral sensory plaque (VSP). MPS4, ATS (3-5), and VSP only occurred on the male antennae, while MPS2 and MPS3 only on the female antennae. The MPSs, MTS, MGPS, TFI, and CP may function as olfactory sensilla involving in detecting odor stimuli whereas the ATSs, CHs, and CAS may serve as mechanoreceptors. COS were presumed to play a role as chemo-, thermo- or hygro-receptor. The results could facilitate future studies on the biology of olfaction in T. howardi. Microsc. Res. The sweet potato weevil (Cylas formicarius) is a critical pest producing enormous global losses in sweet potato crops. Traditional pest management approaches for sweet potato weevil, primarily using chemical pesticides, causes pollution, food safety issues, and harming natural enemies. While RNA interference (RNAi) is a promising environmentally friendly approach to pest control, its efficacy in controlling the sweet potato weevil has not been extensively studied. In this study, we selected a potential target for controlling C. formicarius, the Troponin I gene (wupA), which is essential for musculature composition and crucial for fundamental life activities. We determined that wupA is abundantly expressed throughout all developmental stages of the sweet potato weevil. We evaluated the efficiency of double‐stranded RNAs in silencing the wupA gene via microinjection and oral feeding of sweet potato weevil larvae at different ages. Our findings demonstrate that both approaches significantly reduced the expression of wupA and produced high mortality. Moreover, the 1st instar larvae administered dswupA exhibited significant growth inhibition. We assessed the toxicity of dswupA on the no‐target insect silkworm and assessed its safety. Our study indicates that wupA knockdown can inhibit the growth and development of C. formicarius and offer a potential target gene for environmentally friendly control. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
