Abstract

In the current Master Thesis, the in – line measurements of oil/gas production fluids as well as the existing technologies and techniques are presented. Initially, the flow regimes, which define the operation principles of multiphase flow meters (MPFMs), are analyzed and then the in – line MPFMs, separation type meters, wet gas flow meters and other categories of MPFMs are described in detail. Afterwards, the performance of MPFMs is described, which defines the application of the multiphase flow measurement technologies and the selection the most suitable one. Furthermore, guidelines for designing MPFM installations are presented as well as the main characteristics of the operation of MPFMs such as cost, maintenance, footprint, radioactive source and calibration. Last but not least, MPFMs which are being sold in the market from different companies such as Agar Corporation, are presented as well as some very useful conclusions as far as the perspectives and the new trends of MPFM technologies are concerned., Στα πλαίσια της παρούσας Μεταπτυχιακής Εργασίας, παρουσιάζονται οι εντός ροής μετρήσεις των πολυφασικών ρευστών κατά την παραγωγή πετρελαίου και φυσικού αερίου καθώς και οι υπάρχουσες τεχνολογίες και τεχνικές. Αρχικά, αναλύονται τα είδη των καταστάσεων ροής, τα οποία καθορίζουν τις αρχές λειτουργίας των μετρητών πολυφασικής ροής (MPFMs) και στη συνέχεια περιγράφονται λεπτομερώς οι εντός ροής μετρητές πολυφασικής ροής, οι τρόποι μέτρησης της πολυφασικής ροής οι οποίοι βασίζονται στο διαχωρισμό, οι μετρητές ροής συμπυκνωμάτων φυσικού αερίου (wet gas) κι άλλες κατηγορίες μετρητών πολυφασικής ροής. Κατόπιν, περιγράφεται η απόδοση των μετρητών πολυφασικής ροής, η οποία καθορίζει την εφαρμογή αυτών των τεχνολογιών καθώς και την επιλογή της πιο κατάλληλης. Επιπλέον, παρουσιάζονται οδηγίες για το σχεδιασμό των αντίστοιχων εγκαταστάσεων καθώς και τα κύρια χαρακτηριστικά της λειτουργίας των μετρητών πολυφασικής ροής όπως το κόστος, η συντήρηση, ο όγκος του αντίστοιχου εξοπλισμού, οι ραδιενεργές πηγές που χρησιμοποιούνται κατά τη μέτρηση και η βαθμονόμηση. Τέλος, παρουσιάζονται κάποιοι μετρητές πολυφασικής ροής, οι οποίοι πωλούνται στην αγορά από διάφορες εταιρείες όπως η Agar, καθώς και μερικά πολύ χρήσιμα συμπεράσματα σχετικά με τις προοπτικές και τις νέες τεχνολογίες των μετρητών πολυφασικής ροής.

Abstract

In der folgenden Untersuchung werden sowohl literarische als auch praxisorientierte Ansätze zur Implementierung des Marketinggedankens bei Nonprofit-Organisationen behandelt. Um das Verständnis zu fördern, mit welchen Schwierigkeiten das Verbunden sein kann, erfolgt vorab ein kleiner Überblick über die geschichtliche Entwicklung des Marketings, ehe auf die aktuellen Umstrukturierungen eingegangen wird. Dabei werden die national eingesetzten Instrumente dreier marketingtreibender Organisationen näher betrachtet, von denen eine als regionales und die zwei weiteren Organisationen als internationale Beispiele fungieren. Beginnend mit einer Skizzierung der eingesetzten Maßnahmen erfolgt eine Identifizierung von Optimierungsansätzen zur Effizienzsteigerung, wobei sich sämtliche Vorschläge zur Verbesserung im Rahmen einer finanziellen Umsetzbarkeit für die einzelne Organisation befinden. Zudem sollen die Marketingaktivitäten der international agierenden Organisationen vergleichbar sein. Diesbezüglich werden zwei Auswahlkriterien definiert, um eine gute Vergleichbarkeit zu gewährleisten. Einerseits sollen beide Organisationen eine ähnliche Organisationsmission verfolgen und andererseits sollen sie über eine ähnliche Finanzstruktur verfügen. Darüber hinaus sollte die Finanzierung beider Organisationen überwiegend über Zuwendungen privater Personen und gewinnorientierter Unternehmen erfolgen, um auch die komplexen Beziehungsgeflechte innerhalb der Anspruchsgruppen zu thematisieren. Abschließend erfolgt eine nähere Betrachtung der regionalen Organisation, um anhand dieses Beispiels zu zeigen, in welchem Maße die Marketingnutzung hierzulande bereits möglich ist.

10. Filtering Strategies For Spiraling Targets

Abstract

Intentional or unintentional spiraling maneuvers on the part of a tactical ballistic missile target can make it particularly difficult for a pursuing missile to hit. The paper first reviews why it is difficult to hit a spiraling target with proportional navigation guidance. It is then shown that by using a special purpose linear Kalman filter that is specifically tuned for a spiral maneuver in conjunction with an advanced guidance law it is possible to dramatically improve system performance over that of a proportional navigation guidance system. However, in order for the necessary filtering and guidance to work properly the targets spiraling frequency must be known. If the spiraling frequency is unknown other methods must be used. The paper investigates two schemes for deriving the spiraling frequency of the target. The first scheme involves using a bank of Kalman filters, each of which is tuned to a different spiraling frequency. Various schemes for identifying which filter in the filter bank is tuned to the actual target frequency are investigated. The second method for deriving the target frequency involves using a single extended Kalman filter that explicitly estimates the target spiraling frequency. It is shown that such an extended Kalman filter when used in conjunction with an advanced guidance law can dramatically improve system performance., Prepared in collaboration with The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, Inc., Cambridge, MA.

Abstract

Abstract: We present electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR)—evidence of photomagnetism under the conditions of in situ green laser illumination (photo-EPR) in lead magnesium niobate–lead titanate, Pb(Mg,Nb)O3–PbTiO3 (PMN–PT), containing nanoparticles/wires of orthorhombic β-PbO as identified by Raman spectroscopy. Photo-EPR studies of the sample containing β-PbO, brownish red in color, have shown intense line at g =2.00, and its yield increased when produced in the presence of 7.5kG external magnetic field suggesting the formation of magnetic polaron. This was identified as due to interaction between Fe3+, photoinduced Pb3+ and unpaired electron trapped at oxygen vacancies. The photoinduced growth and decay of magnetic polaron has shown a non-exponential behavior. Photoluminescence (PL) studies were conducted with excitation at 308nm (XeCl laser) and also at 454.5, 488 and 514.5nm using Ar+ laser. The excitation with 308nm gave broad PL centered at 500 and 710nm the latter being quite prominent in β-PbO containing crystals, along with cooperative luminescence at 350nm involving two emitting centers. The excitation with Ar+ laser lines, close to the electronic absorption in samples containing β-PbO gave richer and sharp PL emission in red region from the constituents of the magnetic polaron and also intense anti-Stokes emission on excitation with 514.5nm radiation. This appears to be due to phototransfer optically stimulated luminescence (PT-OSL) involving electron–hole recombination at photoinduced magnetic polaron site. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
