Currently, many swimming goggle lenses use optical plates to maintain zero refractive power in air and water. However, people’s widespread use of 3C products has increased myopia significantly, so lenses have a demand for refractive power. Lenses will have different refractive power problems in water and air media. Therefore, we solved the refractive power change in air and water by using a plane Fresnel lens with a diopter to replace plano-concave lenses. In this study, a first-order design was created and then the microstructure of the Fresnel lens was optimized using optical software. The Fresnel lens simulation results showed that the error was within 5%, which was compared with the data using the lensmaker’s equation calculation. For swimming goggles, this error value is tolerable for human vision.

This paper attempts to explore the feasibility of using cholesteric liquid crystals (CLCs) for reflective displays in active matrix (AM) driving. The study focuses on reverse mode polymer-stabilized cholesteric liquid crystals (PSCLCs) to overcome the inherent bistability of CLCs and achieve faster response times for switching between bright and dark states. Key parameters such as cell gap, monomer concentration, polymerization temperature, and different monomer types and liquid crystal hosts are systematically investigated to optimize the electro-optical properties of the liquid crystals for active matrix driving. The research demonstrates that PSCLCs can operate within a 15 V driving voltage range while maintaining a good bright-dark state contrast ratio (>10) and a response time of less than 42 ms. This suggests significant potential for their application in dynamic reflective display technologies.

In this study, a digital eye chart optical projection system for distant and near vision examination was designed using the basic principle of geometric optics and a Snellen chart, which consists of four modules: an off-axis parabolic (OAP) mirror, a triplet lens, an liquidcrystal display (LCD), and a digital processing unit. Fifteen male subjects participated in the experiment, and their visual acuity data were recorded. The system shows the benefits of compactness, portability, and easy operation, in comparison with the traditional design. A detailed design process has been addressed in this paper.
