We analyze the clean cusp, seen in the $\eta \pi$ mass distribution with high precision of the $\chi_{c1} \to \eta \pi^+ \pi^-$ reaction in the BESIII experiment, with the aim of making a precise determination of the scattering length $a$ and effective range $r_0$ of $K^+ \bar{K}^{0}$. For that, we follow a previous theoretical work that gave a good reproduction of these data using the chiral unitary approach for the meson-meson interaction, and allow some flexibility in the input to carry a better fit to the data. The important task of determining the uncertainties in the scattering parameters is done using the resampling method and an accuracy in $a$ and $r_0$ is obtained better than $20\%$. We introduce Diffusion-based Audio Captioning (DAC), a non-autoregressive diffusion model tailored for diverse and efficient audio captioning. Although existing captioning models relying on language backbones have achieved remarkable success in various captioning tasks, their insufficient performance in terms of generation speed and diversity impede progress in audio understanding and multimedia applications. Our diffusion-based framework offers unique advantages stemming from its inherent stochasticity and holistic context modeling in captioning. Through rigorous evaluation, we demonstrate that DAC not only achieves SOTA performance levels compared to existing benchmarks in the caption quality, but also significantly outperforms them in terms of generation speed and diversity. The success of DAC illustrates that text generation can also be seamlessly integrated with audio and visual generation tasks using a diffusion backbone, paving the way for a unified, audio-related generative model across different modalities., Comment: https://sites.google.com/view/diffusion-audio-captioning

Visual and auditory perception are two crucial ways humans experience the world. Text-to-video generation has made remarkable progress over the past year, but the absence of harmonious audio in generated video limits its broader applications. In this paper, we propose Semantic and Temporal Aligned Video-to-Audio (STA-V2A), an approach that enhances audio generation from videos by extracting both local temporal and global semantic video features and combining these refined video features with text as cross-modal guidance. To address the issue of information redundancy in videos, we propose an onset prediction pretext task for local temporal feature extraction and an attentive pooling module for global semantic feature extraction. To supplement the insufficient semantic information in videos, we propose a Latent Diffusion Model with Text-to-Audio priors initialization and cross-modal guidance. We also introduce Audio-Audio Align, a new metric to assess audio-temporal alignment. Subjective and objective metrics demonstrate that our method surpasses existing Video-to-Audio models in generating audio with better quality, semantic consistency, and temporal alignment. We calculate the correlation functions for the $\bar K^0 p, \pi^+ \Sigma^0, \pi^0 \Sigma^+, \pi^+ \Lambda$, and $\eta \Sigma^+$ states, which in the chiral unitary approach predict an excited $\Sigma^*(1/2^-)$ state at the $\bar K N$ threshold, recently observed by the Belle collaboration. Once this is done, we tackle the inverse problem of seeing how much information one can obtain from these correlation functions. With the resampling method, one can determine the scattering parameters of all the channels with relative precision by means of the analysis in a general framework, and find a clear cusp-like structure corresponding to the $\Sigma^*(1/2^-)$ in the different amplitudes at the $\bar{K}N$ threshold., Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures, 7 tables

We propose Reasoning to Ground (R2G), a neural symbolic model that grounds the target objects within 3D scenes in a reasoning manner. In contrast to prior works, R2G explicitly models the 3D scene with a semantic concept-based scene graph; recurrently simulates the attention transferring across object entities; thus makes the process of grounding the target objects with the highest probability interpretable. Specifically, we respectively embed multiple object properties within the graph nodes and spatial relations among entities within the edges, utilizing a predefined semantic vocabulary. To guide attention transferring, we employ learning or prompting-based methods to analyze the referential utterance and convert it into reasoning instructions within the same semantic space. In each reasoning round, R2G either (1) merges current attention distribution with the similarity between the instruction and embedded entity properties or (2) shifts the attention across the scene graph based on the similarity between the instruction and embedded spatial relations. The experiments on Sr3D/Nr3D benchmarks show that R2G achieves a comparable result with the prior works while maintaining improved interpretability, breaking a new path for 3D language grounding.

In this paper, we present the first constant-approximation algorithm for {\em budgeted sweep coverage problem} (BSC). The BSC involves designing routes for a number of mobile sensors (a.k.a. robots) to periodically collect information as much as possible from points of interest (PoIs). To approach this problem, we propose to first examine the {\em multi-orienteering problem} (MOP). The MOP aims to find a set of $m$ vertex-disjoint paths that cover as many vertices as possible while adhering to a budget constraint $B$. We develop a constant-approximation algorithm for MOP and utilize it to achieve a constant-approximation for BSC. Our findings open new possibilities for optimizing mobile sensor deployments and related combinatorial optimization tasks.

Interrogation of biological pathways is an integral part of omics data analysis. Large language models (LLMs) enable the generation of custom pathways and gene sets tailored to specific scientific questions. These targeted sets are significantly smaller than traditional pathway enrichment analysis libraries, reducing multiple hypothesis testing and potentially enhancing statistical power. Lomics (Large Language Models for Omics Studies) v1.0 is a python-based bioinformatics toolkit that streamlines the generation of pathways and gene sets for transcriptomic analysis. It operates in three steps: 1) deriving relevant pathways based on the researcher's scientific question, 2) generating valid gene sets for each pathway, and 3) outputting the results as .GMX files. Lomics also provides explanations for pathway selections. Consistency and accuracy are ensured through iterative processes, JSON format validation, and HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee (HGNC) gene symbol verification. Lomics serves as a foundation for integrating LLMs into omics research, potentially improving the specificity and efficiency of pathway analysis.

Generating semantically and temporally aligned audio content in accordance with video input has become a focal point for researchers, particularly following the remarkable breakthrough in text-to-video generation. In this work, we aim to offer insights into the video-to-audio generation paradigm, focusing on three crucial aspects: vision encoders, auxiliary embeddings, and data augmentation techniques. Beginning with a foundational model VTA-LDM built on a simple yet surprisingly effective intuition, we explore various vision encoders and auxiliary embeddings through ablation studies. Employing a comprehensive evaluation pipeline that emphasizes generation quality and video-audio synchronization alignment, we demonstrate that our model exhibits state-of-the-art video-to-audio generation capabilities. Furthermore, we provide critical insights into the impact of different data augmentation methods on enhancing the generation framework's overall capacity. We showcase possibilities to advance the challenge of generating synchronized audio from semantic and temporal perspectives. Integrated photonics has reformed our information society by offering on-chip optical signal synthesis, processing and detection with reduced size, weight and power consumption. As such, it has been successfully established in the near-infrared (NIR) telecommunication bands. With the soaring demand in miniaturized systems for biosensing, quantum information and transportable atomic clocks, extensive endeavors have been stacked on translating integrated photonics into the visible spectrum, i.e. visible-light integrated photonics. Various innovative visible-light integrated devices have been demonstrated, such as lasers, frequency combs, and atom traps, highlighting the capacity and prospect to create chip-based optical atomic clocks that can make timing and frequency metrology ubiquitous. A pillar to the development of visible-light integrated photonics is characterization techniques featuring high frequency resolution and wide spectral coverage, which however remain elusive. Here, we demonstrate a vector spectrum analyzer (VSA) for visible-light integrated photonics, offering spectral bandwidth from 766 to 795 nm and frequency resolution of 415 kHz. The VSA is rooted on a widely chirping, high-power, narrow-linewidth, mode-hop-free laser around 780 nm, which is frequency-doubled from the near-infrared via an efficient, broadband CPLN waveguide. The VSA is further referenced to hyperfine structures of rubidium and potassium atoms, enabling 8.1 MHz frequency accuracy. We apply our VSA to showcase the characterization of loss, dispersion and phase response of passive integrated devices, as well as densely spaced spectra of mode-locked lasers. Combining operation in the NIR and visible spectra, our VSA allows characterization bandwidth exceeding an octave and can be an invaluable diagnostic tool for spectroscopy, nonlinear optical processing, imaging and quantum interfaces to atomic devices.

We start from a recently favored picture in which the $\Lambda_c(2940)$ and $\Lambda_c(2910)$ correspond mostly to $ND^*$ bound states with $J^P = 1/2^-,\, 3/2^-$ and then add a $D$ as a third particle, looking for the possible binding of the $DND^*$ three body system within the framework of the Fixed Center Approximation. We find that the system is bound with respect to the corresponding $\Lambda_c^* D$ threshold with a binding of about $60$ MeV and a width of about $90$ MeV. Alternatively we assume a cluster of $ND$ and a $D^*$ meson interacting with the cluster and we find similar results. The observation of these states of $J^P = 1/2^+,\, 3/2^+$ would provide new and valuable information concerning the $DN$ and $D^* N$ interaction, an issue of current debate., Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures

Audio editing involves the arbitrary manipulation of audio content through precise control. Although text-guided diffusion models have made significant advancements in text-to-audio generation, they still face challenges in finding a flexible and precise way to modify target events within an audio track. We present a novel approach, referred to as PPAE, which serves as a general module for diffusion models and enables precise audio editing. The editing is based on the input textual prompt only and is entirely training-free. We exploit the cross-attention maps of diffusion models to facilitate accurate local editing and employ a hierarchical local-global pipeline to ensure a smoother editing process. We propose the reaction $\psi(3686) \to \bar{\Xi}^+ \bar{K}^0 \Sigma^{*-}$, with the $\Sigma^{*-}$ decaying to $\pi^- \Lambda$ in order to show evidence for the existence of two $\Xi(1820)$ states, one around $1824$ MeV and narrow, and another one around $1875$ MeV and wide. The phase space for $\bar{K}^0 \Sigma^{*-}$ production reduces the effect of the lower mass resonance, magnifying the effect of the higher mass resonance that shows clearly over the phase space. The estimated rate of the production is bigger than the one of the $\psi(3686) \to \bar{\Xi}^+ K^- \Lambda$ reaction, where a clear peak for $\Xi(1820)$ was observed by the BESIII collaboration, what makes the Beijing facility ideal to carry out the reaction proposed., Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures, 1 table

We have studied the $\Omega_c \to \pi^+ (\pi^0, \eta) \pi \Xi^*$ decays, where the final $\pi \Xi^*$ comes from the decay of two resonances around the nominal $\Xi(1820)$, which are generated from the interaction of coupled channels made of a pseudoscalar and a baryon of the decuplet. The $\pi \Xi^*$ mass distributions obtained in the six different reactions studied are quite different and we single out four of them, which are free of a tree level contribution, showing more clearly the effect of the resonances. The lower mass resonance is clearly seen as a sharp peak, but the higher mass resonance manifests itself through an interference with the lower one that leads to a dip in the mass distribution around $1850 \, {\rm MeV}$. Such a feature is similar to the dip observed in the $s$-wave $\pi \pi$ cross section around the $980 \, {\rm MeV}$ coming from the interference of the $f_0(500)$ and $f_0(980)$ resonances. Its observation in coming upgrades of present facilities will shed light on the existence of these two resonances and their nature., Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures

Traditional meta-analysis assumes that the effect sizes estimated in individual studies follow a Gaussian distribution. However, this distributional assumption is not always satisfied in practice, leading to potentially biased results. In the situation when the number of studies, denoted as K, is large, the cumulative Gaussian approximation errors from each study could make the final estimation unreliable. In the situation when K is small, it is not realistic to assume the random-effect follows Gaussian distribution. In this paper, we present a novel empirical likelihood method for combining confidence intervals under the meta-analysis framework. This method is free of the Gaussian assumption in effect size estimates from individual studies and from the random-effects. We establish the large-sample properties of the non-parametric estimator, and introduce a criterion governing the relationship between the number of studies, K, and the sample size of each study, n_i. Our methodology supersedes conventional meta-analysis techniques in both theoretical robustness and computational efficiency. We assess the performance of our proposed methods using simulation studies, and apply our proposed methods to two examples.

Despite significant advancements in text-to-motion synthesis, generating language-guided human motion within 3D environments poses substantial challenges. These challenges stem primarily from (i) the absence of powerful generative models capable of jointly modeling natural language, 3D scenes, and human motion, and (ii) the generative models' intensive data requirements contrasted with the scarcity of comprehensive, high-quality, language-scene-motion datasets. To tackle these issues, we introduce a novel two-stage framework that employs scene affordance as an intermediate representation, effectively linking 3D scene grounding and conditional motion generation. Our framework comprises an Affordance Diffusion Model (ADM) for predicting explicit affordance map and an Affordance-to-Motion Diffusion Model (AMDM) for generating plausible human motions. By leveraging scene affordance maps, our method overcomes the difficulty in generating human motion under multimodal condition signals, especially when training with limited data lacking extensive language-scene-motion pairs. Our extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach consistently outperforms all baselines on established benchmarks, including HumanML3D and HUMANISE. Storytelling aims to generate reasonable and vivid narratives based on an ordered image stream. The fidelity to the image story theme and the divergence of story plots attract readers to keep reading. Previous works iteratively improved the alignment of multiple modalities but ultimately resulted in the generation of simplistic storylines for image streams. In this work, we propose a new pipeline, termed LLaMS, to generate multimodal human-level stories that are embodied in expressiveness and consistency. Specifically, by fully exploiting the commonsense knowledge within the LLM, we first employ a sequence data auto-enhancement strategy to enhance factual content expression and leverage a textual reasoning architecture for expressive story generation and prediction. Secondly, we propose SQ-Adatpter module for story illustration generation which can maintain sequence consistency. Numerical results are conducted through human evaluation to verify the superiority of proposed LLaMS. Evaluations show that LLaMS achieves state-of-the-art storytelling performance and 86% correlation and 100% consistency win rate as compared with previous SOTA methods. Furthermore, ablation experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of proposed sequence data enhancement and SQ-Adapter.

Self-injection locking scheme has the potential to narrow the linewidth of lasers in a compact setup. Here, we report a narrow linewidth laser source near 1 {\mu}m by self-injection locking scheme using a Fabry-Perot (FP) hollow resonator with a high-quality factor (Q>10^8). The measured fundamental linewidth of the laser is 41 Hz, and a coarse tuning range over 5.5 nm is achieved by changing the driving current of the laser source. Meanwhile, a fine-tuning range of 373 MHz is achieved without mode hops by changing the voltage applied to the PZT on the resonator. More importantly, benefiting from the low thermal refractive noise and low thermal expansion of the FP hollow resonator, the beat-note linewidth and the frequency Allan deviation are measured to be 510.3 Hz in and 10^-11 (1s averaging time), respectively, by using a fully stabilized frequency comb as reference. Such a high-performance laser is fully integrated with a palm-sized package (52.3 mL) for field-deployable applications.

We study the $D^+ \to \bar K^0 \pi^+ \eta$ reaction where the $a_0(980)$ excitation plays a dominant role. We consider mechanisms of external and internal emission at the quark level, hadronize the $q \bar q$ components into two mesons and allow these mesons to undergo final state interaction where the $a_0(980)$ state is generated. While the $a_0(980)$ production is the dominant term, we also find other terms in the reaction that interfere with this production mode and, through interference with it, lead to a shape of the $a_0(980)$ significantly different from the one observed in other experiments, with an apparently much larger width., Comment: 8 pages, 12 figures

With the measurements of the decay $D^+_s \rightarrow K^0_S K^0_S \pi^+$ by the BESIII Collaboration, we investigate this three-body weak decay via the chiral unitary approach for the final state interaction, where the resonances $S(980)$ and $S(1710)$ are dynamically reproduced with the interaction of eleven coupled channels, and the $W$-external and -internal emission mechanisms are considered at the quark level. Besides, we also take into account the contribution from the $P$-wave resonance $K^*(892)^+$ and make a combined fit of the $K^0_S K^0_S$ and $K^0_S \pi^+$ invariant mass spectra measured by the BESIII Collaboration. The fitted results show that the enhancement around 1.7 GeV in $K^0_S K^0_S$ mass spectrum is overlapped with two visible peaks, indicating the mixing signal originated from the resonances $a_0(1710)$ and $f_0(1710)$ due to their different poles (masses). Thus, the decay $D^+_s \rightarrow K^0_S K^0_S \pi^+$ is helpful to reveal their molecular nature with the mixing signal, which can be more precisely measured in the future., Comment: 17 pages, 7 figures, 2 tables

We study the correlation functions of the $B^0 D^+, B^+ D^0$ system, which develops a bound state of approximately $40$ MeV, using inputs consistent with the $T_{cc}(3875)$ state. Then we address the inverse problem starting from these correlation functions to determine the scattering observables related to the system, including the existence of the bound state and its molecular nature. The important output of the approach is the uncertainty with which these observables can be obtained, considering errors in the $B^0 D^+, B^+ D^0$ correlation functions typical of current values in present correlation functions. We find that it is possible to obtain scattering lengths and effective ranges with relative high precision and the existence of a bound state. Although the pole position is obtained with errors of the order of $50 \%$ of the binding energy, the molecular probability of the state is obtained with a very small error of the order of $6\%$. By accurately measuring composition and energy spectrum of cosmic ray, the origin problem of so called "keen" region (energy > 1 PeV) can be solved. However, up to the present, the results of the spectrum in the knee region obtained by several previous experiments have shown obvious differences, so they cannot give effective evidence for judging the theoretical models on the origin of the knee. Recently, the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) has reported several major breakthroughs and important results in astro-particle physics field. Relying on its advantages of wide-sky survey, high altitude location and large area detector arrays, the research content of LHAASO experiment mainly includes ultra high-energy gamma-ray astronomy, measurement of cosmic ray spectra in the knee region, searching for dark matter and new phenomena of particle physics at higher energy. The electron and Thermal Neutron detector (EN-Detector) is a new scintillator detector which applies thermal neutron detection technology to measure cosmic ray extensive air shower (EAS). This technology is an extension of LHAASO. The EN-Detector Array (ENDA) can highly efficiently measure thermal neutrons generated by secondary hadrons so called "skeleton" of EAS. In this paper, we perform the optimization of ENDA configuration, and obtain expectations on the ENDA results, including thermal neutron distribution, trigger efficiency and capability of cosmic ray composition separation. The obtained real data results are consistent with those by the Monte Carlo simulation.

Starting from the molecular picture for the $D_{s1}(2460)$ and $D_{s1}(2536)$ resonances, which are dynamically generated by the interaction of coupled channels, the most important of which are the $D^*K$ for the $D_{s1}(2460)$ and $DK^*$ for the $D_{s1}(2536)$, we evaluate the ratio of decay widths for the $\bar{B}_s^0 \to D_{s1}(2460)^+ K^-$ and $\bar{B}_s^0 \to D_{s1}(2536)^+ K^-$ decays, the latter of which has been recently investigated by the LHCb collaboration, and we obtain a ratio of the order of unity. The present results should provide an incentive for the related decay into the $D_{s1}(2460)$ resonance to be performed, which would provide valuable information on the nature of these two resonances., Comment: 14 pages, 4 figures, 2 tables; V2: discussions added, references added, version to appear in Eur.Phys.J.C

We make a study of the $\Omega_c(3120)$, one of the five $\Omega_c$ states observed by the LHCb collaboration, which is well reproduced as a molecular state from the $\Xi^*_c \bar K$ and $\Omega^*_c \eta$ channels mostly. The state with $J^P = 3/2^-$ decays to $\Xi_c \bar K$ in $D$-wave and we include this decay channel in our approach, as well as the effect of the $\Xi^*_c$ width. With all these ingredients, we determine the fraction of the $\Omega_c(3120)$ width that goes into $\Xi_c \pi \bar K$, which could be a measure of the $\Xi^*_c \bar K$ molecular component, but due to a relatively big binding, compared to its analogous $\Omega(2012)$ state, we find only a small fraction of about 3%, which makes this measurement difficult with present statistics. As an alternative, we evaluate the scattering length and effective range of the $\Xi^*_c \bar K$ and $\Omega^*_c \eta$ channels which together with the binding and width of the $\Omega_c(3120)$ state, could give us an answer to the issue of the compositeness of this state when these magnitudes are determined experimentally, something feasible nowadays, for instance, measuring correlation functions., Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures, 2 tables; References added

All-in-one (AiO) frameworks restore various adverse weather degradations with a single set of networks jointly. To handle various weather conditions, an AiO framework is expected to adaptively learn weather-specific knowledge for different degradations and shared knowledge for common patterns. However, existing methods: 1) rely on extra supervision signals, which are usually unknown in real-world applications; 2) employ fixed network structures, which restrict the diversity of weather-specific knowledge. In this paper, we propose a Language-driven Restoration framework (LDR) to alleviate the aforementioned issues. First, we leverage the power of pre-trained vision-language (PVL) models to enrich the diversity of weather-specific knowledge by reasoning about the occurrence, type, and severity of degradation, generating description-based degradation priors. Then, with the guidance of degradation prior, we sparsely select restoration experts from a candidate list dynamically based on a Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) structure. This enables us to adaptively learn the weather-specific and shared knowledge to handle various weather conditions (e.g., unknown or mixed weather). Experiments on extensive restoration scenarios show our superior performance (see Fig. 1). The source code will be made available.

In this work we compare the predictions for the scattering length and effective range of the channels $K^0 \Sigma^+, K^+ \Sigma^0 , K^+ \Lambda$ and $\eta p$, assuming the $N^*(1535)$ state as a molecular state of these channels, or an original genuine state, made for instance from three quarks. Looking at very different scenarios, what we conclude is that the predictions of these two pictures are drastically different, to the point that we advise the measurement of these magnitudes, accessible for instance by measuring correlation functions, in order to gain much valuable information concerning the nature of this state.

Recent advances in vision-language learning have achieved notable success on complete-information question-answering datasets through the integration of extensive world knowledge. Yet, most models operate passively, responding to questions based on pre-stored knowledge. In stark contrast, humans possess the ability to actively explore, accumulate, and reason using both newfound and existing information to tackle incomplete-information questions. In response to this gap, we introduce $Conan$, an interactive open-world environment devised for the assessment of active reasoning. $Conan$ facilitates active exploration and promotes multi-round abductive inference, reminiscent of rich, open-world settings like Minecraft. Diverging from previous works that lean primarily on single-round deduction via instruction following, $Conan$ compels agents to actively interact with their surroundings, amalgamating new evidence with prior knowledge to elucidate events from incomplete observations. Our analysis on $Conan$ underscores the shortcomings of contemporary state-of-the-art models in active exploration and understanding complex scenarios. Additionally, we explore Abduction from Deduction, where agents harness Bayesian rules to recast the challenge of abduction as a deductive process. We perform a theoretical study of the $J/\psi \to \omega (\phi) K^* \bar{K} + c.c. \to \omega (\phi) K^0 \pi^+ K^-$ reactions with the assumption that the $f_1(1285)$ is dynamically generated from a single channel $K^* \bar{K} + c.c$ interaction in the chiral unitary approach. Two peaks in the $K^0 \pi^+ K^-$ invariant mass distribution are observed, one clear peak locates at the $f_1(1285)$ nominal mass, the other peak locates at around $1420\; \rm MeV$ with about $70 \;\rm MeV$ width. We conclude that the former peak is associated with the $f_1(1285)$ and the latter peak is not a genuine resonance but a manifestation of the kinematic effect in the higher energy region caused by the $K^* \bar{K} + c.c.$ decay mode of the $f_1(1285)$., Comment: 17 pages, 5 figures; v2: discussion added, references added, version to appear in Eur.Phys.J.C

The $N^*(1535)$ can be dynamically generated in the chiral unitary approach with the coupled channels, $K^0 \Sigma^+, K^+ \Sigma^0, K^+ \Lambda$ and $\eta p$. In this work we evaluate the correlation functions for every channel and face the inverse problem. Assuming the correlation functions to correspond to real measurements, we conduct a fit to the data within a general framework in order to extract the information contained in these correlation functions. The bootstrap method is used to determine the uncertainties of the different observables, and we find that, assuming errors of the same order than in present measurements of correlation functions, one can determine the scattering length and effective range of all channels with a very good accuracy. Most remarkable is the fact that the method predicts the existence of a bound state of isospin $\frac{1}{2}$ nature around the mass of the $N^*(1535)$ with an accuracy of $6\; \rm MeV$. These results should encourage the actual measurement of these correlation functions (only the $K^+ \Lambda$ one is measured so far), which can shed valuable light on the relationship of the $ N^*(1535)$ state to these coupled channels, a subject of continuous debate., Comment: 18 pages, 2 figures, 5 tables; v2: discussions added, references added
