AIM: To analyze the clinical characteristics of acute acquired concomitant esotropia(AACE)in patients among different age groups.METHODS: Retrospective analysis of clinical data. A total of 112 non-Swan type AACE patients who underwent surgery at Peking University People's Hospital from January 2015 to December 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. Clinical data were collected and the characteristics were compared, including gender, age, diopter, duration of disease, daily time spent on near work, angles of deviation before and after surgery, stereopsis, etc. According to age, patients were divided into three groups: 45 years old group(23 cases). The clinical characteristics of patients were compared in each group.RESULTS: A total of 112 patients were included in the study, comprising 56 males and 56 females, with a median age of 29.50(19.25, 41.75)years old. Among them, 97 patients had myopia(86.6%). There were 93 patients(83.0%)who spent more than 8 h on near work. The age group 45 years old(both P45 years old, the median near angle of deviation after surgery was -4.50(-7.50, 0)PD, and the median distant angle of deviation after surgery was 4.50(0, 9.50)PD, which were smaller than those in other two groups(all P45 years old had the hiughest surgical success rate(100%). The preoperative stereopsis was better in age group >45 years old than the group 45 years old was better than age group

ObjectiveTo operationalize constructs from each of the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research domains and to present psychometric properties within the context of evidence-based approaches for promoting colorectal cancer screening in federally qualified health centers (FQHCs).MethodsData were collected from FQHC clinics across seven states. A web-based Staff Survey and a Clinic Characteristics Survey were completed by staff and leaders (n = 277) from 59 FQHCs.ResultsInternal reliability of scales was adequate ranging from 0.62 for compatibility to 0.88 for other personal attributes (openness). Intraclass correlations for the scales indicated that 2.4 percent to 20.9 percent of the variance in scale scores occurs within clinics. Discriminant validity was adequate at the clinic level, with all correlations less than 0.75. Convergent validity was more difficult to assess given lack of hypothesized associations between factors expected to predict implementation.ConclusionsOur results move the field forward by describing initial psychometric properties of constructs across CFIR domains.

BackgroundScientists and practitioners alike need reliable, valid measures of contextual factors that influence implementation. Yet, few existing measures demonstrate reliability or validity. To meet this need, we developed and assessed the psychometric properties of measures of several constructs within the Inner Setting domain of the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR).MethodsWe searched the literature for existing measures for the 7 Inner Setting domain constructs (Culture Overall, Culture Stress, Culture Effort, Implementation Climate, Learning Climate, Leadership Engagement, and Available Resources). We adapted items for the healthcare context, pilot-tested the adapted measures in 4 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), and implemented the revised measures in 78 FQHCs in the 7 states (N = 327 respondents) with a focus on colorectal cancer (CRC) screening practices. To psychometrically assess our measures, we conducted confirmatory factor analysis models (CFA; structural validity), assessed inter-item consistency (reliability), computed scale correlations (discriminant validity), and calculated inter-rater reliability and agreement (organization-level construct reliability and validity).ResultsCFAs for most constructs exhibited good model fit (CFI > 0.90, TLI > 0.90, SRMR

As a novel material, liquid metal has attracted the attention of scientists for its unique properties and wide potential applications. In this paper, the basic concepts, properties, and behaviors of liquid metals under different conditions are introduced, and the latest advances in their synthesis methods and application fields are discussed. The development status of liquid metal in science and industry is also introduced. The latest research progress of liquid metals is systematically reviewed, and the potential and application prospect of liquid metals in materials science, engineering, and electronic technology are revealed. The research scope covers the wide application of liquid metals in nanotechnology, materials engineering, electronic technology, energy, and other fields, as well as the latest application cases of liquid metals in flexible electronic devices, sensors, catalysts, energy storage, and other fields. At the same time, the core disputes and problems to be solved in the field of liquid metals are discussed. Through the comments on liquid metals, we hope to provide reference and guidance for researchers and promote the further development in the field of liquid metals. This study presents findings that suggest it is possible to fine‐tune and enhance the optical properties of anthraquinone (AQ) and its photocatalytic performance in the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) at the molecular level through varying its keleton substituents. Specifically, the electron‐withdrawing substituent demonstrates a more pronounced improvement effect compared to the electron‐donating substituent. Out of the several compounds, 2‐carboxyanthraquinone (AQ−COOH) exhibits the highest photocatalytic activity. This is due to its ionization in water, generating H+ ions that enhance the destruction of RhB through photodegradation. After 30 min of exposure to visible light, the degradation rate of RhB reaches an impressive 99.9 %. It is noteworthy that a hydrochloric acid solution with a concentration of 0.5 mmol ⋅ L−1 has a considerable promoting impact on the photodegradation of RhB catalyzed by AQ−COOH, and that the total degradation of RhB can be accomplished in 15 min. In addition, AQ−COOH also has good applicability for the degradation of tetracycline, methylene blue, and methyl orange. As a recyclable solid catalyst, the catalytic activity of AQ−COOH remained mostly unchanged after being used five times. Additionally, AQ−COOH did not undergo degradation when exposed to visible light, indicating its excellent stability in the process of catalyzing RhB degradation. According to quenching experiments and EPR spectrum characterizations, the photo‐generated active species oxygen vacancies (h+), photogenerated electrons (e−), superoxide free radicals (O2⋅−), singlet oxygen (1O2) and hydroxyl radical (•OH) are involved in the hypothesized photo‐catalytic degradation mechanism. ContextColorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer death among cancers affecting both men and women in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Colorectal Cancer Control Program (CRCCP) supports both direct clinical screening services (screening provision) and activities to promote screening at the population level (screening promotion).ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to characterize patient navigation (PN) programs for screening provision and promotion for the first 1 to 2 years of program funding.ParticipantsWe conducted a cross-sectional survey of the 29 CRCCP grantees (25 states and 4 tribal organizations) and 14 in-depth interviews to assess program implementation.Main outcome measuresThe survey and interview guide collected information on CRC screening provision and promotion activities and PN, including the structure of the PN program, characteristics of the navigators, funding mechanism, and navigators' activities.ResultsTwenty-four of 28 CRCCP grantees of the survey used PN for screening provision whereas 18 grantees used navigation for screening promotion. Navigators were often trained in nursing or public health. Navigation activities were similar for both screening provision and promotion, and common tasks included assessing and responding to patient barriers to screening, providing patient education, and scheduling appointments. For screening provision, activities centered on making reminder calls, educating patients on bowel preparation for colonoscopies, and tracking patients for completion of the tests. Navigation may influence screening quality by improving patients' bowel preparation for colonoscopies.ConclusionsOur study provides insights into PN across a federally funded CRC program. Results suggest that PN activities may be instrumental in recruiting people into cancer screening and ensuring completed screening and follow-up.

BackgroundSpecial events are common community-based strategies for health promotion. This paper presents findings from a systematic literature review on the impact of special events to promote breast, cervical or colorectal cancer education and screening.MethodsArticles in English that focused on special events involving breast, cervical, and/or colorectal cancer conducted in the U.S. and published between January 1990 and December 2011 were identified from seven databases: Ovid, Web of Science, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Sociological Abstract, Cochrane Libraries, and EconLit. Study inclusion and data extraction were independently validated by two researchers.ResultsOf the 20 articles selected for screening out of 1,409, ten articles on special events reported outcome data. Five types of special events were found: health fairs, parties, cultural events, special days, and plays. Many focused on breast cancer only, or in combination with other cancers. Reach ranged from 50-1732 participants. All special events used at least one evidence-based strategy suggested by the Community Guide to Preventive Services, such as small media, one-on-one education, and reducing structural barriers. For cancer screening as an outcome of the events, mammography screening rates ranged from 4.8% to 88%, Pap testing was 3.9%, and clinical breast exams ranged from 9.1% to 100%. For colorectal screening, FOBT ranged from 29.4% to 76%, and sigmoidoscopy was 100% at one event. Outcome measures included intentions to get screened, scheduled appointments, uptake of clinical exams, and participation in cancer screening.ConclusionsSpecial events found in the review varied and used evidence-based strategies. Screening data suggest that some special events can lead to increases in cancer screening, especially if they provide onsite screening services. However, there is insufficient evidence to demonstrate that special events are effective in increasing cancer screening. The heterogeneity of populations served, event activities, outcome variables assessed, and the reliance on self-report to measure screening limit conclusions. This study highlights the need for further research to determine the effectiveness of special events to increase cancer screening.

Humans generate a lot of irregular movements in their daily lives, and much of the movement energy is difficult to collect. This paper develops a wearable device based on a liquid metal (LM)‐based frictional electric nanogenerator, including: flexible power‐generating fiber, power‐generating surface, and power‐generating insole. Friction nano power generation fibers are prepared using LM, epoxy resin, and silicone. The power generation device could be formed by weaving the fibers in cross, mesh and spiral arrangement, with a maximum open circuit voltage of 142 mV and current of 1.06 A, which could be coded into intelligent clothing. Power generating surfaces use LM, nylon,polycaprolactone (PCL), and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) as friction electrodes. The LM‐PCL produces a maximum open‐circuit voltage of 2.4 V and a maximum current of 1.23 A when they form a friction electrode. Electricity‐generating insoles are composed of silicone holes filled with LM, and the movement of the human foot generates electricity. With a friction area of 18.75 cm2, a maximum output voltage of 221 mV is obtained. These friction nano power devices have the advantages of a green environment, and low cost, which could be widely used in medical, biological, and clothing formulation fields. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To investigate the hysteretic behavior of an X-shaped metal damper (XMD) with an oblique angle, cyclic loading tests were carried out on nine specimens, including two XMDs without buckling-restrained devices, four XMDs with stiffening ribs, and three XMDs with cover plates as references. The test results showed that the oblique angle could effectively increase the stiffness, strength, and energy dissipation of the XMD. When the oblique angle of an XMD with stiffening ribs increased from 0° to 30° at the applied displacement of 8.4 mm, the mean strengths and cumulative energy dissipation of specimens increased by about 80.77% and 80.57%, respectively. Although asymmetric hysteretic loops were also observed in specimens with an oblique angle and buckling-restrained devices, stable hysteretic curves were obtained. This indicated that the stiffening ribs and cover plates can effectively constrain the buckling behavior of XMDs. Additionally, the mean strengths of specimens with stiffening ribs were a little higher than those of specimens with cover plates. Subsequently, the finite element analysis models of the XMDs were proposed, in which the metal plasticity model considering isotropic and kinematical hardening was used to model the material properties of steel, and the simulation results matched well with the test results. Finally, the theoretical calculation method was proposed to predict the elastic stiffness of specimens, and the theoretical elastic stiffness matched well with the test results. A precast shear wall with vertical connectors (PSWVC) is proposed, in which the wall panels are assembled through dampers at the vertical seams. Cyclic loading tests were conducted on two full-scale specimens with X-shaped metal dampers and lead viscoelastic dampers. Based on the test results, the better seismic performance of the wall panels with dampers was observed. In addition, a finite element analysis model of shear walls was proposed, and a parameter study was performed to investigate the seismic performance of the PSWVC.
