1. Enhancing pooling levels strengthens the risk resilience of healthcare insurance: a case study of basic medical insurance fund operations data in Gansu, China

Abstract

Abstract Background In China, enhancing the pooling levels of basic health insurance has consistently been regarded as a pivotal measure to promote the refinement of the healthcare insurance system. From 2020 to 2022, the widespread outbreak of COVID-19 posed new challenges to China’s basic health insurance. Methods The research utilizes Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), Malmquist index assessment, and fixed-effects panel Tobit models to analyze panel data from 2020 to 2022, assessing the efficiency of basic health insurance in Gansu Province. Results From 2020 to 2022, the average overall efficiency of the municipal pooling of Basic Medical Insurance for Urban and Rural Residents was 0.941, demonstrating a stable trend with a modest increase. The efficiency frontier regions have expanded from 5 (35.71%) to 7 (50%). Operational efficiency exhibited a negative correlation with per capita hospitalization expenses and per capita fund balance but a positive correlation with per capita accumulated fund balance and reimbursement rates for hospitalized patients. In 2021, compared to 2020, the county-pooling Basic Medical Insurance for Urban Employees saw a decline of 0.126 in overall efficiency, reducing the efficiency frontier regions from 8 to 3. However, from 2021 to 2022, the municipal-coordinated Basic Medical Insurance for Urban Employees experienced a 0.069 increase in overall efficiency, with the efficiency frontier regions expanding from 3 to 5. Throughout 2020 to 2022, the operational efficiency of the Urban Employee Basic Medical Insurance showed a consistent negative correlation with per capita fund balance. Conclusion From 2020 to 2022, the overall operational performance of basic health insurance in Gansu Province was satisfactory, and enhancing the pooling level is beneficial in addressing the impact of unforeseen events on the health insurance system.

Abstract

A novel photonics-based RF reception approach is proposed as a competitive solution to meet the current challenges of photonic-based approaches and to realize high performances at the same time. The proposed approach adopts the superheterodyne configuration by a combination manner of electronic techniques and photonic techniques, including the ultrawideband generation of optical LO, the two-stage photonic superheterodyne frequency conversion and the real-time IF compensation. An engineering prototype has been developed and its performance has been evaluated in the laboratory environment. The experiment results preliminarily verify the feasibility of the proposed approach and its engineering potential. The typical performances are as follows: 0.1 GHz~ 45GHz operation spectrum range (>40 GHz), 900 MHz instantaneous bandwidth, 101 dBHz2/3 SFDR and 130 dBHz LDR, image rejections of ~80 dB for 1st frequency conversion and >90 dB for 2nd frequency conversion., Comment: 11 pages, 18 figures, submitted to the special issue "Decadal Advances and Review: Pursuing Space Science And Technology Innovation" in Advances in Astronautics Science and Technology

7. A code-free optical undersampling technique for broadband microwave spectrum measurement

Abstract

A novel broadband microwave (MW) spectrum measurement (BMSM) scheme based on code-free optical undersampling and homodyne detection is proposed. The fully analog generation of optical pulses with a far-less-than-Nyquist rate is only through modulating cascaded electrooptical modulators by a single RF tone instead of any high-speed coding sequence modulation. Homodyne detection will reduce the analysis bandwidth of BMSM and enhance the detection performance of weak signal. A multi-band signal with 20 GHz spectral range and SNR = 61 dB is used to investigate the BMSM performance of this scheme, and the results show good performance for BMSM. 8. HSP90 Enhances Mitophagy to Improve the Resistance of Car-Diomyocytes to Heat Stress in Wenchang Chickens.

Abstract

Heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) is recognized for its protective effects against heat stress damage; however, the specific functions and underlying molecular mechanisms of HSP90 in heat-stressed cardiomyocytes remain largely unexplored, particularly in tropical species. In our study, Wenchang chickens (WCCs) were classified into two groups: the heat stress survival (HSS) group and the heat stress death (HSD) group, based on their survival following exposure to heat stress. Heat stress resulted in significant cardiomyocyte damage, mitochondrial dysfunction, and apoptosis in the HSD group, while the damage was less pronounced in the HSS group. We further validated these findings in primary cardiomyocytes derived from Wenchang chickens (PCWs). Additionally, heat stress was found to upregulate Pink1/Parkin-mediated mitophagy, which was accompanied by an increase in HSP90 expression in both cardiomyocytes and PCWs. Our results demonstrated that HSP90 overexpression enhances PINK1/Parkin-mediated mitophagy, ultimately inhibiting apoptosis and oxidative stress in heat-stressed PCWs. However, the application of Geldanamycin (GA) reversed these effects. Notably, we discovered that HSP90 interacts with Beclin-1 through mitochondrial translocation and directly regulates mitophagy levels in PCWs. In summary, we have elucidated a novel role for HSP90 and mitophagy in regulating heat stress-induced acute cardiomyocyte injury. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

18. Yiqi Yangyin Huoxue Method in Treating IdiopathicPulmonary Fibrosis: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

Abstract

Objective. Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a common respiratory disease that can lead to respiratory failure in severe condition. Despite notable advances in its treatment, some patients show poor effect when treated with conventional western medicine (CWM). Traditional Chinese medicine with the Yiqi Yangyin Huoxue method (YQYYHXM) has been reported to be positive for IPF. In order to explore the effectiveness and safety of YQYYHXM in the treatment of IPF, we performed this meta-analysis. Method. We searched six databases including Embase, Cochrane, PubMed, CNKI, Wan Fang, and VIP database from their inception to June 1, 2019, and then selected eight studies. Two reviewers independently conducted methodological evaluation and data analysis by the software RevMan 5.3.3 and Stata 12.0. Results. The meta-analysis revealed that when YQYYHXM was adopted in combination with CWM, cough, chest pain, and shortness of breath of IPF patients improved significantly. After treatment with YQYYHXM combined with CWM, the SGRQ of IPF patients substantially enhanced. YQYYHXM also has positive effect on 6MWD and TLC, but the improvement on FVC was not obvious. In addition, YQYYHXM has no significance in improving PaO2. All the adverse events were reported in the control group. Conclusion. YQYYHXM is more effective and safe as adjunctive treatment for patients with IPF. However, in the future, long-term, large-scale, and high-quality trials will be required to provide more convincing evidence of YQYYHXM due to some limitations of this review.

Abstract

Whereas size effects have been investigated extensively and are largely understood, it is significantly more challenging to elucidate how functional properties of semiconductors can be altered and ultimately be improved by a hierarchical nanoarchitecture. For semiconductor applications, such as in photovoltaics or photocatalysis, it is of great importance to learn how to avoid the recombination of photogenerated charge carriers and how to enhance their lifetime. A gas-phase synthesis method is explored, which enables the generation of spherical zinc oxide nanostructures with compact, mesoporous, a special type of core-shell, so-called yolk-shell, or hollow character. The particles with hollow character exhibit an extraordinarily long persistence of photogenerated charge carriers. It is demonstrated that the presence of the ZnO shell and its special orientation with respect to the polar character of the wurtzite lattice represent deciding factors. After photoexcitation, electrons and holes migrate to opposite sides of the interfaces, where they are stabilized. Moreover, photoluminescence thermometry was used to determine the thermal conductivity of the samples, which is lowered by a factor of ~100 compared with bulk ZnO. Abstract

Different materials including nonlinear crystals, nanowires, 2D aluminum gratings, organic liquids, and polystyrene particles are characterized using THz time-domain spectroscopy based on asynchronous optical sampling. Generated THz radiation by surface-field screening in semiconductors and optical rectification in nonlinear crystal are demonstrated in this dissertation. Significant birefringence and optical phonons are observed in the investigated nonlinear crystals. The temperature dependence of free carriers and anharmonic decay of optical phonons in LiInSe2 is investigated using low-temperature THz time-domain spectroscopy. The complex conductivity of TiO2 nanowires in the THz frequency region is quantitatively determined, and the influences of doping as well as post-annealing conditions on the complex conductivity are presented. Surface plasmon resonances in the THz frequency range are observed in 2D aluminum gratings fabricated on silicon substrates with dfferent lattice constants and shapes, which agree well with the theoretical interpretation. The quantitative determination of the temperature dependent refractive indices and absorption coefficients of several organic liquids in the THz frequency range are demonstrated by performing transmission THz time-domain spectroscopy measurements. The extinction cofficients of polystyrene particles in the THz frequency range are calculated. published

Abstract

High quality and large size nonlinear optical LiInS2 (LIS) crystals were successfully grown by the optimized seeded Bridgman method. And the optical properties and carrier dynamics of LIS in the THz range were investigated by THz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) in the temperature range of 20–300 K for the first time. The refractive index and absorption coefficients present obvious temperature dependent behavior. A distinct absorption peak was observed at around 1.68 THz, which can be attributed to the vibration of In–S bonds revealed by Raman spectroscopy analysis. And the carrier concentration, mobility and scattering rate also show obvious temperature dependent behavior. These results will provide further understanding of the optical properties of LIS crystals and a perspective for future applications of LIS crystals in THz technology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The birefringence of LiInS2 (LIS) crystals in the THz frequency region is investigated by THz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS). The experimental results indicate that LIS has large birefringence and low absorption in the THz frequency region. The optical properties of LIS are quantitatively determined. A sharp absorption caused by a TO-phonon resonance is observed at around 1.70 THz when the Z-axis is parallel to the polarization of the incident THz wave. A temporal separation of the transmitted THz pulses with different polarization components is realized by changing the orientation of the LIS crystal with respect to the polarization of the incident THz pulses. By controlling the relative phase and amplitude of the temporally separated THz pulses, THz polarization pulse shaping caused by birefringence in LIS crystal is demonstrated.

Abstract

We investigate the optical properties of LiInSe2 (LISe) by THz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS). The experimental results indicate that LISe has excellent transparency in the THz frequency region. We determine quantitatively the birefringence of LISe. The refractive index and absorption coefficient along the three dielectric axes of LISe are reported in the THz frequency region. The lattice vibrations of LISe are analyzed on the basis of the THz-TDS measurement in combination with infrared and Raman spectra. The origin of the low-frequency vibrational modes below 3 THz as interatomic bond-bending modes is revealed.

Abstract

A compact high-resolution THz time-domain waveguide spectrometer that is operated inside a cryostat is demonstrated. A THz photo-Dember emitter and a ZnTe electro-optic detection crystal are directly attached to a parallel copper-plate waveguide. This allows the THz beam to be excited and detected entirely inside the cryostat, obviating the need for THz-transparent windows or external THz mirrors. Since no external bias for the emitter is required, no electric feed-through into the cryostat is necessary. Using asynchronous optical sampling, high resolution THz spectra are obtained in the frequency range from 0.2 to 2.0 THz. The THz emission from the photo-Dember emitter and the absorption spectrum of 1,2-dicyanobenzene film are measured as a function of temperature. An absorption peak around 750 GHz of 1,2-dicyanobenzene displays a blue shift with increasing temperature.
