The global pandemic in Spring 2010 catapulted hundreds of universities worldwide into the realm of online education. Technological advancements over the last two decades had made online education viable but it was still a relatively small part of higher education. For most students the move to online education was not a choice or an option but a necessity and their reactions will play an important part in strategic decisions made in higher education for years to come. It is important to understand their perception's and attitudes towards online education. The implications for Western universities with campuses in China are significant due to the vast differences in delivering US accredited course content online vs in person in China. Sino-foreign cooperative universities deliver Western curriculum courses in English thereby providing students with a different academic experience than typical Chinese universities. An exploration of whether the attitude of Sino-foreign cooperative university students and Chinese university students towards distance education is different is relevant at this time. Data was collected by an online survey completed by both students of typical Chinese universities and of Sino-foreign universities. The results suggest that students had a generally positive attitude towards distance education and that there were no significant differences in students' attitudes towards distance education as a function of the type of university they attend. The findings are of interest because if Chinese students prove receptive to online education in general, the type of opportunities for Sino-Chinese Universities are significantly changed.

This meta-analysis evaluated the effectiveness of Parent–Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) for maltreated families and examined potential moderators associated with the intervention. Seven English electronic databases (PubMed, PsycINFO, Web of Science, MEDLINE, Scopus, Cochrane Library, and ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global) were systematically searched to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published before January 20, 2023. Eleven studies involving 1,069 maltreated or high-risk families were included in the meta-analysis. Our results showed that PCIT significantly reduced child externalizing behaviors, improved parenting skills, and decreased parenting stress and child abuse potential in maltreated families. Additionally, families with confirmed maltreatment history reported larger effect sizes across all outcomes than those at high risk of maltreatment; parenting skills outcomes were more effective in adapted PCIT versions, using per-protocol analysis, and American caregivers, whereas none of the outcomes were related to the number of sessions. These findings provide encouraging evidence for the use of PCIT as an intervention for families with a history of maltreatment, although more high-quality RCTs are required to confirm its effects. With the advancement of society, the issue of oil pollution is escalating, therefore we propose a straightforward and efficient approach for fabricating fully biodegradable poly (lactic acid) (PLA)/poly (butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) foams with exceptional selective oil-absorption capabilities through the integration of melt blending and supercritical CO2 (scCO2) foaming techniques. The PLA90 foams, activated at 11 MPa and temperatures ranging from 105 ℃ to 110 ℃, exhibit an expansion ratio of 44 and a highly interconnected open-cell structure with an open-cell content exceeding 80%, effectively mitigating cell shrinkage occurrences. The 105 ℃-triggered PLA90 foam displays pronounced lipophilicity/hydrophobicity, accelerated oil-absorption kinetics, and elevated oil-absorption capacity. Specifically, the equilibrium absorption capacities for cyclohexane and silicone are 12.8 g/g and 20.1 g/g, respectively. Moreover, the maximum absorption capacity decline rate for silicone oil stands at a mere 13.4% over 10 absorption–desorption cycles. The findings presented in this study establish a theoretical framework and offer empirical evidence to support the development of fully biodegradable, high-performance, and reusable oil-absorption materials. Persistent luminescence phosphors have attracted much attention in the realm of anti-counterfeiting and information storage because of their characteristic properties of optical information storage, long persistent luminescence, and simplicity of design. At present, traditional anti-counterfeiting persistent luminescence phosphors are based on single-colour luminescence and generally have poorly secure anti-counterfeiting capabilities. In this work, Ca1−1/2xCd1−1/2xGe7O16:xSm3+ (x = 0, 0.0025, 0.005, 0.01, 0.015, 0.02, and 0.025) phosphors were synthesized using a high-temperature solid-state reaction method, which demonstrated potential as multi-colour and two-mode anti-counterfeiting persistent luminescence materials. With an increase in doping concentration of Sm3+ ions in the host, the materials could emit blue-to-pink photoluminescence under 254 nm UV lamp illumination. After excitation under a 254 nm UV lamp, the materials showed persistent luminescence performance with a pink persistent luminescence colour, and the duration could exceed 4 h. The persistent luminescence mechanism and electron traps inside the samples were analyzed by plotting their thermoluminescence curves after excitation cessation. The results show that at least two types of traps existed in the Ca1−1/2xCd1−1/2xGe7O16:0.01Sm3+ phosphor. The phosphors were used to synthesize anti-counterfeiting ink, which was then used to make an optical anti-counterfeiting pattern through screen printing. The pattern could barely be observed on white paper in sunlight but was visible in different colours under an irradiation of 254 nm and in a low light environment. Mechanoluminescent (ML) materials can exhibit visible-to-near-infrared mechanoluminescence when responding to the fracture or deformation of a solid under mechanical stimulation. Transforming mechanical energy into light demonstrates promising applications in terms of visual mechanical sensing. In this work, we synthesized the phosphor CaZnOS:Tb3+, Sm3+, which exhibited intense and tunable multicolor mechanoluminescence without pre-irradiation. Intense green ML materials were obtained by doping Tb3+ with different concentrations. Tunable multicolor mechanoluminescence (such as green, yellow-green, and orange-red) could be realized by combining green emission (about 542 nm), attributed to Tb3+, and red emission (about 600 nm) generated from the Sm3+ in the CaZnOS substrate. The tunable multicolor ML materials CaZnOS:Tb3+, Sm3+ exhibited intense luminance and recoverable mechanoluminescence when responding to mechanical stimulation. Benefiting from the excellent ML performance and multicolor tunability in CaZnOS:Tb3+, Sm3+, we mixed the phosphor with PDMS and a curing agent to explore its practical application. An application for visual mechanical sensing was designed for handwriting identification. By taking a time-lapsed shot while writing, we easily obtained images of the writer's handwriting. The images of the ML intensity were acquired by using specific software to transform the shooting data. Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of adapted Parenting for Lifelong Health for Young Children to prevent child maltreatment in the Mainland China. Methods: A pre–post-follow-up study was designed and 54 Chinese parents received the eight-session online parenting intervention between February 4 and March 25, 2023. Results: Forty-one participants (75.9%) completed post-assessment and 36 (66.7%) completed 3-month follow-up assessment. Participants reported reduced child maltreatment, especially in emotional abuse and corporal punishment after the intervention, and the effect was maintained in 3-month follow-up. Improved positive parenting behaviors and decreased child externalizing behaviors were also observed for pre-, post-, and 3-month follow-up assessments. However, there were no significant changes in parental stress, parent–child relationship, parental depressive symptoms, and social support. Conclusions: The online Parenting for Lifelong Health for Young Children program for Chinese parents has shown promise in reducing child maltreatment, improving positive parenting, and decreasing children's problem behaviors, although randomized controlled trials are needed in future studies.
