Purpose -- This study aimed to examine the boundary conditions under which teaching??-research conflict influences university teachers'??? job burnout. Methods -- Data from 487 teachers of three universities in China were analyzed with structural equation modeling and other statistical approaches.? This study examined the relationship between teaching-research conflict and job burnout among university teachers and the moderating role of perceived supervisor support (PSS) and psychological capital (PsyCap) in this relationship. Using a cross-sectional design, data were collected from a convenience sample of 488 university teachers in China. Hierarchical regression analysis was performed to examine the moderating role of PSS and PsyCap in the relationship between teaching-research conflict and job burnout. The results showed that (a) teaching-research conflict was positively linked to emotional exhaustion and depersonalization but negatively linked to personal accomplishment, (b) PSS moderated the effects of teaching-research conflict on both emotional exhaustion and depersonalization but did not act as a moderator in the relationship between teaching-research conflict and personal accomplishment, and (c) PsyCap moderated the effect of teaching-research conflict on all three dimensions of job burnout.

This study aimed to examine the relationship between organizational justice (OJ), perceived supervisor support (PSS), and affective commitment (AC) among university teachers. 426 teachers from 5 universities of China were sampled to complete the measures. Structural equation modeling (SEM) and bootstrap analysis were employed to test the hypotheses. The results showed that university teachers' perception of OJ positively predicted their AC; moreover, PSS partially mediated the relationship between OJ and AC among university teachers.

AbstractA questionnaire survey was conducted among 908 middle school students to explore the boundary conditions under which parental marital quality influences adolescents’ social media addiction. The results showed that (1) parental marital quality negatively predicted adolescents’ social media addiction; (2) interpersonal sensitivity moderated the relationship between adolescents’ parental marital quality and social media addiction; and (3) peer relationships moderated the relationship between adolescents’ parental marital quality and social media addiction. These findings help to deepen the understanding of the boundary conditions under which parental marital quality leads to adolescents’ social media addiction and have implications for intervention in Internet addiction. This study explored the mechanism underlying the effects of leadership styles on work engagement among knowledge workers. Data were collected among employees working in three IT enterprises in Henan, China. We adopted a two-wave cross-lagged design with a time gap of four months. The statistical methods included descriptive statistics, structural equation modeling (SEM), and bootstrap analysis. The present study aimed to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI), social anxiety, and eating disorder risk as well as the effects of several demographic variables on social anxiety and eating disorder risk among adolescents in China. Seven hundred eighty-four senior high school students in China were sampled to participate in the survey, completing the measures of body mass index, Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26), Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale, and Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale. Descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, and hierarchical regression with bootstrapping approach were used to examine the relationships between the studied variables. Adolescents' EI negatively influenced their social anxiety and eating disorder risk; meanwhile, their social anxiety acted as a partial mediator between their EI and eating disorder risk. In addition, gender, grade, and body size all had main effects on social anxiety and eating disorder risk, and there were interaction effects both between gender and grade, and between gender and body size. These findings advance our comprehending of the formation mechanism of EDs and should be helpful to conduct effective, targeted intervention on EDs among adolescents.

In view of the benefit of improving employees' organization commitment, it is important to study the major influencing factors of organization commitment. According to previous literature, organizational justice and job burnout have been considered two major influencing variables of affective commitment; however, little empirical research can be found to examine the relationship between job burnout, organizational justice, and affective commitment simultaneously among university teachers in China. Thus, the main purpose of the current study was to examine the above relationship in a cross-sectional design. The participants were 435 teachers from five universities in China. A series of structural equation modeling analyses were conducted by using Amos 19.0. The results showed that organizational justice was a strong predictor of affective commitment. Specifically, interactional justice predicted affective commitment the most strongly, whereas distributive justice, unexpectedly, had no significant influence on affective commitment. Furthermore, both emotional exhaustion and personal accomplishment were important partial mediators of the relationship between interactional justice and affective commitment.

Adolescents are believed to be susceptible to eating disorders (EDs) due to their serious fear of appearance evaluation from society. Related to this, low body-esteem has been found to be common among individuals with EDs. The present study mainly aimed to explore how emotional intelligence (EI), gender, and body size influence the relationship between body-esteem and EDs risk among adolescents. 128 middle school students classified as obese and 128 age-and gender-matched normal weight controls were included. All participants were asked to fill out self-report measures of body-esteem, EI, and EDs risk. The results showed that (1) both gender and body size directly influenced body-esteem and EDs risk; (2) EI acted as a moderator between body-esteem and EDs risk; and (3) both gender and body size interacted with EI and body-esteem to influence EDs risk. These findings contribute to our understanding of boundary conditions by which low body-esteem leads to EDs among adolescents, and help us to correspondingly conduct targeted intervention of adolescents' EDs. This study explored the roles of social appearance anxiety and emotional intelligence in the relationship between body esteem and eating-disorder risk among adolescents. A total of 2509 high-school students were sampled to participate in the study. Statistical methods mainly involved descriptive statistics, Bootstrapping, and structural equation modeling analyses. The results showed that social appearance anxiety partially mediated the relationship between body esteem and eating-disorder risk among adolescents; meanwhile, emotional intelligence moderated the effects of body esteem on social appearance anxiety and eating-disorder risk among adolescents. To explore the relationship between exposure to violent video games and college students' cyberaggressive behavior and its internal mechanism, a cross-sectional survey was carried out with a sample of 1141 college students who completed the Violent Video Game Listing Questionnaire (VVLQ), Adolescent Online Aggressive Behavior Scale (AOABS), Beliefs Supportive of Violence Scale (BSVS), and Trait Anger Scale (TAS). The results showed that (1) exposure to violent video games was positively associated with college students' cyberaggressive behavior; (2) trait anger moderated the positive relationship between exposure to violent video games and college students' cyberaggressive behavior; (3) trait anger moderated the positive relationship between exposure to violent video games and college students' attitude toward violence; (4) attitude toward violence acted as a partial mediator in the positive relationship between exposure to violent video games and college students' cyberaggressive behavior; and (5) through attitude toward violence, trait anger plays a mediated moderating role in the positive relationship between exposure to violent video games and college students' aggressive behavior., (© 2021 Wiley Periodicals LLC.)
