ObjectiveThis study reports on a translation of the Menstrual Symptom Questionnaire (MSQ) into Chinese, a cross-cultural adaptation among Chinese women of reproductive age, and an assessment of its reliability and validity.MethodsPreviously published translation guidelines were followed to translate and cross-culturally adapt the English version of MSQ to produce a Chinese version. This Chinese version was then administered to 2800 Chinese women of reproductive age recruited by convenience sampling method. The reliability of the Chinese MSQ was tested for internal consistency and test-retest reliability. The concurrent and construct validity of the questionnaire was evaluated using correlation and factor analysis.ResultsThe Chinese version of the MSQ showed no linguistic or semantic issues. The internal consistency of the Chinese MSQ Cronbach'α = 0.912, and the test-retest reliability r = 0.911. The exploratory factor analysis identified four factors. The confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated that the four factor structure of the Chinese version of the MSQ (Pain Experience, Emotional Changes, Pain Coping Strategies, and Other Physical Symptoms) is reasonable among Chinese women of reproductive age. There was a significant correlation found between these four factors and both the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and the SF-8 Health Survey.ConclusionThe Chinese version of the MSQ achieved semantic equivalence in translation and demonstrated good reliability and validity among Chinese women of reproductive age. Thus, it can serve as an effective tool to assess the experience of menstrual symptoms among Chinese women.

ObjectiveTo analyze the methodological and reporting quality of systematic reviews of prediction models published in Chinese journals, with the aim of providing reference for enhancing the overall quality of Chinese systematic reviews of prediction models.MethodsWe searched the CNKI, WanFang Data, CBM, and VIP databases for Chinese systematic reviews of prediction models from inception to July 20, 2023. After two independent reviewers screened literature and extracted data, the AMSTAR(A Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews) and PRISMA 2020(Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses 2020) tools were used to assess the methodological and reporting quality of the included reviews.ResultsA total of 55 systematic reviews published between 2015 and 2023 were included, 12 of which were meta-analysis. The reviews covered various topics, mainly including cardiovascular diseases, stroke, and diabetes. The identified systematic reviews exhibited obvious deficiencies: items 1, 4, 5, 6, and 10 of AMSTAR showed poor methodological quality, and items 7, 10a, 12, 13a-f, 14, 15, 16a-b, 17, 20b-d, 21, 22, 23d, 24a-c, 25 and 26 of PRISMA 2020 needed improvement in reporting quality. Furthermore, a moderate positive correlation (r=0.58, P < 0.001) was observed between the methodological and reporting quality. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that a greater number of pages, more recent publications, and funding support were associated with higher methodological quality (P < 0.05). Similarly, a greater number of pages, more recent publications, qualitative systematic reviews, and funding support were associated with higher reporting quality, but the number of authors showed a negative association (P < 0.05).ConclusionThe methodological and reporting quality of existing systematic reviews of prediction models published in Chinese journals is relatively poor and demands improvement.

This review will synthesize the results from publications focused on homework time and academic performance, and estimate the relationship between the two. Our objectives are: (1) to identify the extent of the relationship between homework time and students' academic performance; (2) to analyze the differences in the effectiveness of homework time across genders, grades, subject and regions; and (3) to identify the potential factors that affect homework time, such as academic subject, task difficulty, type of homework, mode of homework, parental involvement, and feedback on homework.

The warming and drying trend accompanying climate change challenges global ecosystem stability. Vegetation phenology, which can serve as a sensitive indicator of climate change, is crucial in understanding ecosystem carbon cycling and climate-carbon cycle feedback. Therefore, assessing the phenological responses to drought is essential for addressing climate change. In this study, vegetation phenology data [including the start and end of season (SOS, EOS) and length of growing season (LOS)] and the Palmer drought severity index (PDSI) were employed to analyze the impacts of drought on plant phenology in China by maximum Pearson correlation coefficients and partial least squares regression. The findings showed that drought significantly affected the timing of phenology, delaying senescence in approximately 62% of China and extending the growing season in about 53% of the country, indicating the critical role of water availability in vegetation biomass. Preseason nocturnal warming was found to advance SOS, delay EOS, and extend LOS across China, with significant effects observed in approximately 60% of the country. Meanwhile, daytime warming delayed SOS, delayed EOS and extended LOS in 50∼60% of the regions. Moreover, preseason precipitation is conducive to advanced SOS, delayed EOS and extended LOS in northern China and areas susceptible to drought. It is suggested that vegetation management should be strengthened to mitigate the impact of climate change in temperate and drought-prone regions in China since climate warming will lead to frequent droughts. BACKGROUND: Sulforaphene is a derivative of glucosinolate and a potential bioactive substance used for treating colon cancer. This study aimed to evaluate the potential inhibitory effect and mechanisms of sulforaphene in human colon cancer Caco‐2 cells. Network pharmacology, molecular docking, and experimental verification were performed to elucidate potential sulforaphene mechanisms in the treatment of this condition. RESULT: Network pharmacology predicted 27 intersection target genes between sulforaphene and colon cancer cell inhibition. Key sulforaphene targets associated with colon cancer cell inhibition were identified as EGFR, MAPK14, MCL1, GSK3B, PARP1, PTPRC, NOS2, CTSS, TLR9, and CTSK. Gene ontology functional enrichment analysis revealed that the above genes were primarily related to the positive regulation of peptidase activity, cytokine production in the inflammatory response, and the cell receptor signaling pathway. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment analysis indicated that sulforaphene mainly inhibited the proliferation of cancer cells by affecting apoptosis as well as the signaling pathways of PD‐1, Toll‐like receptor, T cell receptor, and P13k–Akt. Molecular docking results further confirmed that CTSS, GSK3B, and NOS2 were significantly up‐regulated and had good binding affinity with sulforaphene. In vitro experiments also indicated that sulforaphene had a significant inhibitory effect on human colon cancer Caco‐2 cells. CONCLUSION: This paper revealed the pharmacodynamic mechanism of sulforaphene in the treatment of colon cancer for the first time. Supercritical CO2 fracturing technology has shown great potential for enhancing production in unconventional reservoirs. It is essential to clarify the transport mechanism of proppant under the dynamic propagation conditions within rough fractures. A realistic rough fracture model is reconstructed, and Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations are conducted to track proppant movement during fracture propagation. The typical transport characteristics of proppant within rough fractures are revealed, and the effects of fracture propagation rate, proppant density, mass flow rate, particle size, sand ratio, and temperature on the support effect are discussed. The results show that the flow channels formed by sand carrying fluid in rough fractures are complex, with fracture propagation changing some flow channels. The proppant forms an irregular sand bed interspersed with unfilled areas, and complex flow characteristics are generated. The increase in fractal dimension increases the resistance in the fluid flow process and affects the movement of the proppant, which tends to create unfilled areas. Low density and size of proppant can improve the proppant placement length. In a certain temperature range, high temperature injection of sand carrying fluid can improve the proppant placement effect. In addition, the low sand ratio and high mass flow rate pumping can be used to form the dominant channel, followed by pumping with a high sand ratio and low mass flow rate for effective support. Objective: The Generic Version of China Health Related Outcomes Measures (CHROME‐G) was a new preference‐based health‐related quality of life (HRQoL) instrument designed specifically for the Chinese population. This study aimed to validate and compare measurement properties of CHROME‐G with EuroQol‐5 Dimensions‐5 Levels (EQ‐5D‐5L), Short Form‐6 Dimensions version 2 (SF‐6Dv2), and Diabetes‐Specific Quality of Life (DSQL) scales among the elderly Chinese population with type 2 diabetes. Methods: A representative sample population was recruited across the country. Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach's alpha. Hypotheses testing including convergent validity and known‐groups validity were evaluated using Spearman's rank correlation and effect sizes, respectively. Sensitivity was examined using relative efficiency and receiver operating characteristic curve. Results: A total of 131 individuals with type 2 diabetes (54.20% male; mean age 69.03 years) were enrolled. Cronbach's alpha was 0.94 for DSQL, 0.93 for CHROME‐G, 0.87 for EQ‐5D‐5L, and 0.88 for SF‐6Dv2. For the convergent validity of CHROME‐G, 24/29 (82.76%) correlations met the predefined hypotheses, with Spearman's rank correlation coefficients ranging from 0.51 to 0.96. Among the different health subgroups, the effect sizes for CHROME‐G, DSQL, EQ‐5D‐5L, and SF‐6Dv2 were 0.19–1.26, 0.36–1.62, 0.22–1.06, and 0.49–0.87, respectively. CHROME‐G, DSQL, and SF‐6Dv2 had higher efficiency compared with EQ‐5D‐5L in detecting differences in self‐reported health status, with relative efficiency of 3.18 and 1.76, 4.38 and 6.52, and 1.56 and 2.09, respectively. Conclusions: CHROME‐G demonstrates relatively good measurement properties compared with EQ‐5D‐5L and SF‐6Dv2 for measuring the HRQoL among the elderly Chinese population with type 2 diabetes. Background: Homework is a common educational task given to students around the world. It demands mental exertion, but staying focused can be challenging, especially for K‐12 students. Too much homework can increase their cognitive load and mental fatigue, leading to decreased motivation and performance. This can cause boredom with homework and learning. To lessen their load and make homework more effective, it is important to establish the connection between homework duration and academic achievement. Objectives: To evaluate the relationship between homework time and academic performance among K‐12 students. Search Methods: On November 5, 2021, we retrieved articles from a variety sources. Firstly, we searched 10 electronic databases for related publications, including Academic Search Premier, APA PsycArticles, APA PsycInfo, Business Source Premier, Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), Journal Storage (JSTOR), Learning and Technology Library (LearnTechLib), OCLC FirstSearch, Social Sciences Citation Index (Web of Science), and Teacher Reference Center. We also searched two publisher platforms: ScienceDirect and Taylor & Francis Online Database. Secondly, we consulted five educational organization website such as, American Educational Research Association, Best Evidence Encyclopedia, Education Endowment Foundation, European Educational Research Association, What Works Clearinghouse, and the Open Grey database for unpublished studies. We then searched Open Dissertations and ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global databases to locate the relevant dissertations and theses. Additionally, we hand‐searched seven educational journals to identify unpublished documents, reports, and potential studies not indexed in the databases. Lastly, we searched Campbell Library to identify relevant reviews and primary (and nearly eligible studies) in these reviews. We also searched Google Scholar for related studies and checked the citations of eligible studies as well as their bibliographies. Selection Criteria: Studies with the following criteria were included: −Population: K‐12 school students with no disabilities or not attending special education schools;−Intervention: Homework assigned regularly by schoolteachers to students to complete during non‐school hours;−Comparison: Different time spent on the homework;−Outcomes: Academic performance was the primary outcome. The secondary outcomes were academic motivation and the quality of homework;−Study design: Treatment‐control group design or comparison group design studies. Data Collection and Analysis: We reviewed the titles, abstracts, and full texts of the retrieved records. Our team extracted and coded all relevant information from the studies that met our inclusion criteria. To evaluate the risk of bias, we used the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool for randomized controlled trials and ROBINS‐I for non‐randomized controlled trials. A random‐effect meta‐analysis was conducted to determine the effect of homework on academic achievement as compared to no homework. A funnel plot, trim‐and‐fill method and Egger's test were used to test for any publication bias. Due to the insufficient data on homework duration and academic achievement, we analyzed these data using qualitative synthesis. Main Results: Eleven publications were identified that examined the relationship between homework duration and academic outcomes using an experimental design. Based on their focus, we categorized them into two groups: comparisons of homework with no homework and comparison of homework with less homework. There were 10 articles with 14 independent reports that compared academic performance between students who did homework and those who did not. Overall, the meta‐analysis revealed that the students who did homework had better academic performance than that those who did not (n = 14; g = 0.45, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.24–0.66; Q = 454.30, I2 = 71.30%, τ2 = 0.11), especially in arithmetic computation (n = 5; g = 0.46, 95% CI: 0.17–0.75; Q = 13.03, I2 = 69.29%, τ2 = 0.07) and arithmetic problems solving (n = 6; g = 0.17, 95% CI: 0.02–0.33; Q = 6.87, I2 = 27.17%, τ2 = 0.01), but not in arithmetic concepts (n = 3, g = −0.02, 95% CI: −0.22–0.18; Q = 1.46, I2 = 0.00%, τ2 = 0.00). Two experiments explored the effectiveness of homework moderated by homework time. In Koch (1965), the effects of long daily homework (20–30 min) and short daily homework (10–15 min) were compared. The authors found that achievement in arithmetic concepts was higher with long homework assignments every day. Recently, Dolean and Lervag (2021) confirmed the effect of homework on writing skills, and their findings were consistent with those of Koch (1965), who found that increasing time spent on homework was associated with greater writing achievement (average 20 min each time). Authors' Conclusions: Homework could be used as a supplement to enhance the academic performance of primary school students. However, the optimal amount of time they should dedicate each day to homework to achieve the best results remains uncertain. More high‐quality experiments are needed to determine the ideal homework duration for these students.
