2. AI-Generated Content Enhanced Computer-Aided Diagnosis Model for Thyroid Nodules: A ChatGPT-Style Assistant

Abstract

An artificial intelligence-generated content-enhanced computer-aided diagnosis (AIGC-CAD) model, designated as ThyGPT, has been developed. This model, inspired by the architecture of ChatGPT, could assist radiologists in assessing the risk of thyroid nodules through semantic-level human-machine interaction. A dataset comprising 19,165 thyroid nodule ultrasound cases from Zhejiang Cancer Hospital was assembled to facilitate the training and validation of the model. After training, ThyGPT could automatically evaluate thyroid nodule and engage in effective communication with physicians through human-computer interaction. The performance of ThyGPT was rigorously quantified using established metrics such as the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, area under the curve (AUC), sensitivity, and specificity. The empirical findings revealed that radiologists, when supplemented with ThyGPT, markedly surpassed the diagnostic acumen of their peers utilizing traditional methods as well as the performance of the model in isolation. These findings suggest that AIGC-CAD systems, exemplified by ThyGPT, hold the promise to fundamentally transform the diagnostic workflows of radiologists in forthcoming years.

Abstract

Context.--Inflammatory lesions of the breast are rare but not infrequently pose problems both clinically and morphologically, particularly on needle core biopsies. These lesions range from acute inflammatory conditions to chronic lymphoplasmacytic and lymphohistiocytic to granulomatous inflammatory diseases. Objective.--To provide a comprehensive overview of inflammatory lesions of the breast, with etiopathogenesis and clinical, radiologic, and pathologic features as well as differential diagnostic considerations, clinical management, and prognosis. Data Sources.--The existing literature in the English language, including original research articles and review articles describing inflammatory lesions of the breast. Conclusions.--Inflammatory lesions of the breast are characterized by a wide variety of clinical, radiologic, and morphologic features. The histopathologic differential diagnosis often includes a neoplastic process requiring ancillary studies and correlation with clinical and radiologic findings. Although most specimens display nonspecific findings precluding a definitive pathologic diagnosis, pathologists have a unique opportunity to play a crucial role in identifying key histologic features suggestive of certain entities, such as cystic neutrophilic granulomatous mastitis, immunoglobulin (Ig) G4 mastitis, or squamous metaplasia of lactiferous ducts, in the right clinical and radiologic context, and thereby guiding optimal and timely clinical management. Abstract

This paper analyzes the coupling relationship and coupling factors between ecological landscape planning and architectural design, combines ecological planning with landscape planning and design and explores the practical value of green architecture. The ecological landscape construction is divided into five systems, and three indicators with a high degree of influence on the health of the urban ecosystem are selected as the system influence factors to construct a healthy coupling synergy model of ecological landscape planning and architectural design. Taking Fujian Province as an example, we analyze the degree of coupling between ecological landscape planning and architectural design systems and the regional distribution of the level of coupling coordination in Fujian Province. The highest coupling coordination degree between ecological landscape planning and architectural design is R10 and Rl for green buildings, with coupling coordination degrees of 0.8341 and 0.8001, respectively, and the lowest is R = 59 0.3854. Thus, it is important to synergize between architectural design and ecological landscape planning and construction.

Abstract

Context.--This review article is a result of the breast pathology lectures given at the Sixth Chinese American Pathologists Association annual diagnostic pathology course in October 2020 (held virtually due to cOvID-19). Objective.--To update recent developments, in this review article, the authors wrote minireviews in the following 4 areas: lobular neoplasm, adenomyoepithelial lesions, papillary lesions, and fibroepithelial lesions. Data Sources.--The sources include extensive literature review, personal research, and experience. Conclusions.--With the wide practice of screening mammography, these lesions are not uncommon in image-guided core biopsies and excisional specimens. Many recent developments have emerged in understanding these lesions. Abstract

Comprehensive Summary Key Scientists Boronate esters are highly valued in synthetic and pharmaceutical industries for their versatility in creating C—C and C—X bonds. They also find applications as catalysts in chemical transformations as well as stimuli‐responsive materials in materials science. Some alkyl boronates themselves also show promising applications in medicinal chemistry. In the past few decades, chemists have been devoted to developing new methods or new starting materials for synthesizing boronate esters. Carboxylic acids and their derivatives are privileged chemical entities due to their readily availability or natural abundance, structural diversity, and chemical stability. Hence, the transformation of carboxylic acid and their derivatives to alkyl/aryl boronate esters has seen its fast development in the past decade. This review summarized the state‐to‐art development of decarboxylative and decarbonylative borylation of carboxylic acids and their derivatives to aryl and alkyl boronate esters.The decarboxylative and decarbonylative borylation of carboxylic acids and their derivatives started only in the past decade. In 2016, the decarbonylative borylation of carboxylic esters and amides was reported by Zhuangzhi Shi and Magnus Reuping's groups. Then, in 2017, studies on the decarboxylative borylation of redox‐active esters such as NHPI esters started to receive increasing attention by Aggarwal, Baran, Fu, Glorius, and Li's groups. From 2018 to 2023, large numbers of studies on the decarboxylative and decarbonylative borylation of carboxylic acids and their derivatives using transition‐metal‐catalyst, organo‐catalyst, or under photochemical or electrochemical conditions emerged. Abstract

Recent advances in the field of immuno-oncology have brought transformative changes in the management of cancer patients. The immune profile of tumours has been found to have key value in predicting disease prognosis and treatment response in various cancers. Multiplex immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence have emerged as potent tools for the simultaneous detection of multiple protein biomarkers in a single tissue section, thereby expanding opportunities for molecular and immune profiling while preserving tissue samples. By establishing the phenotype of individual tumour cells when distributed within a mixed cell population, the identification of clinically relevant biomarkers with high-throughput multiplex immunophenotyping of tumour samples has great potential to guide appropriate treatment choices. Moreover, the emergence of novel multi-marker imaging approaches can now provide unprecedented insights into the tumour microenvironment, including the potential interplay between various cell types. However, there are significant challenges to widespread integration of these technologies in daily research and clinical practice. This review addresses the challenges and potential solutions within a structured framework of action from a regulatory and clinical trial perspective. New developments within the field of immunophenotyping using multiplexed tissue imaging platforms and associated digital pathology are also described, with a specific focus on translational implications across different subtypes of cancer.
