This study aimed to investigate the interaction between miR-1278 and Caldesmon (CALD1) in gastric cancer (GC) and the regulatory mechanism. In both GC cells and tissues, the levels of CALD1, miR-1278, migration-related markers (E-cadherin, N-cadherin, and Snail), and MAPK signaling pathway-related proteins were clarified using quantitative real-time PCR and western blotting analyses. The effects of miR-1278 and CALD1 on GC cell viability and migration were analyzed using CCK-8 and Transwell assays, respectively. The targeting effect of miR-1278 on CALD1 was investigated using bioinformatics prediction and a dual luciferase reporter assay. The effect of miR-1278 on tumor growth was estimated in vivo using a tumor xenograft assay. In GC, miR-1278 expression decreased, whereas CALD1 was highly expressed. Transfecting an miR-1278 mimic into cells inhibited the viability as well as migration of GC cells, and suppressed Ras, phosphorylated (p)-P38, and p-ERK1/2 protein levels. Moreover, miR-1278 targeted and negatively regulated CALD1 expression. CALD1 overexpression promoted GC cell survival and migration and activated the MAPK pathway. Treatment with an miR-1278 mimic partially rescued the changes caused by CALD1 overexpression. Overall, our study revealed that miR-1278 suppresses the malignant behavior of GC cells by targeting CALD1 and regulating the MAPK pathway.

As an effective means to promote photoinduced carrier separation, the construction of Z‐scheme heterojunction photocatalysts can be widely used for the degradation of organic pollutants. In this work, an innovative peanut shell biochar/Ag3PO4/AgI ternary composite was prepared, and the chemical compositions, structural morphology, optical and photoelectrochemical properties of the photocatalyst were characterized. The peanut shell biochar/Ag3PO4/AgI composite delivered a high photodegradation efficiency of MB at 99.7 % in 60 min with kinetic constant of 0.0366 min−1, which is about 3.81, 9.89, and 1.17 times that Ag3PO4 (0.0096 min−1), AgI (0.0037 min−1) and Ag3PO4/AgI (0.0313 min−1), respectively. Meanwhile, the composite also exhibits excellent photocatalytic activity for methyl orange, rhodamine B, congo red, tetracycline and ofloxacin. Based on radical capture experiments and photoelectrochemical test, the possible photocatalytic mechanism was revealed. Compared with monomers, biochar/Ag3PO4/AgI exhibits higher photocatalytic degradation activity under visible light irradiation, which was due to the introduction of electron‐transporting biochar into the composite, and the formation of heterostructure between Ag3PO4 and AgI, which enhance the separation rate of photoinduced carriers. The excellent stability and photocatalytic activity make peanut shell biochar/Ag3PO4/AgI an ideal photocatalyst to solve environmental crisis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Echocardiographic guidance in left atrial appendage (LAA) closure procedures is increasingly recognized for its potential to enhance patient outcomes in atrial fibrillation (AF). This retrospective study assesses its impact on hospital stay duration, readmission rates and surgical site wound complications in 200 AF patients. Divided equally into an echocardiographically guided group (Group E) and a non‐guided group (Group N), the analysis focused on detailed patient data encompassing hospital stay, 30‐day readmission and wound complications. Findings revealed that Group E experienced a significantly shorter average hospital stay of 3.5 days, compared with 6.5 days in Group N, along with a lower 30‐day readmission rate (5% vs. 18% in Group N). Furthermore, Group E showed a considerable reduction in surgical site wound complications, such as infections and hematomas. The study concludes that echocardiographic guidance in LAA closure procedures markedly improves postoperative wound outcomes, underscoring its potential as a standard practice in cardiac surgeries for AF patients. Currently, mainstream quantum computing simulators are generally based on numerical calculations, which suffer from precision loss, lack of intuitive representation of quantum states, and difficulty in supporting parameterized quantum circuits. Although symbolic quantum computing simulators have been proposed, they are limited in describing parameterized quantum states, constructing custom quantum gates, and integrating with quantum programming environments. To address this issue, this paper proposes a symbolic quantum computing simulator, SymQC. SymQC can use either full amplitude vectors or Dirac symbols to represent quantum states, calculate the equivalent matrix of symbolically parameterized quantum circuits, simulate the evolution of quantum states under quantum circuits, and output the execution results of quantum algorithms in different forms. This paper describes the software structure of SymQC and provides a mathematical proof of a commonly used quantum state update algorithm.
